SHORT CHAPTER BUT WILL GET MORE BETTER FROM HERE.
"Why won't you stop breathing for god's sake?" A young female voice said. The voice came from a dark corner.
"Bad things always lasts long, dear." Another voice replied. This time the voice belongs to an adult woman.
"He's the worst, mom." The young voice said.
"I figured that out the day your father died." The woman said.
"I'm sure he's the one killed dad. He stressed out dad and that's why he died." The young voice said.
"I regret having this devil child. I wish I only had you." The woman said.
"I wish he died instead of father."
Both female voices shared more brutal and mean comments about him. He stood in the middle of the dark room with a defeated look. His mother and sister cursed him with every painful words they could think of. Brendan heard these words in a loop every time. At this point, his tears won't come out. His eyes are dry already. And he also knew that he's seeing a nightmare. He knows it because his family never talked to him much like they did in his nightmares. But these nightmares encouraged him everytime to open his eyes.
He was awake before his eyes opened. He struggled to open his dry eyes and it pained him to keep them open. He blinked uncomfortably and eventually let the blinding light of the sun hit his vision. Everything was blurry at first. But the first thing he saw when he woke up was the white ceiling and LED lights on it. He smelled the medicines and recognised the hospital smell. But much different from a normal hospital. Probably a pokemon centre he's in.
Brendan laid there and let everything process in his head. He heard the door open and saw Nurse Joy walk in with Blissey. She saw him and stopped so suddenly and he could spot the shocked expression on her face.
"Oh my. You're awake." She said. But she sounded as if she's trying to convince herself that he's awake.
"Ye..ah." he replied. His throat hurt as he spoke because of how dry it is just like his eyes.
"I mean I knew something is going on. Your injuries are healing way too quickly. I don't know, but glad you're okay." She said and checked every equipment he's attached to.
"What does that mean?" He wondered. Even in this weak state, he kept the act. Can't go rude and blow his cover. Injured or not, he's still a Team Rocket member.
"Don't worry about it for now. Take rest. Your body needs to charge up." She replied.
"Yeah sure. But how long was I passed out?" He asked.
"Four days. That's what I said. Those injuries healed faster than possible. A miracle if I say." She said.
"Ok, where am I now?" He asked.
Nurse Joy looks at him and sighed. "You're in Vermillion city, Brendan." She replied.
Brendan' eyes widened. "How do you know my name? I'm sure that I never told you." He said.
"You didn't. But there was a poster I saw some time ago. You're the missing boy. Police investigated your whereabouts for a while. They never found you." Nurse Joy explained.
Brendan' heartbeat intensified and he felt nervous all of a sudden. "Which means what?"
"I informed your family about you. And I contacted police two days ago." she replied. Brendan' heart skipped few beats as he heard her. What right she have to interfere his personal life.
"Tell me your lying." He dropped his cool act. His voice was threatening and cold, daring her to say what she said again.
"What?"
"Did I look like I need them? Did I ask you to call them?" He almost shouted. He would've if his throat wasn't aching.
Nurse Joy looks at him stunned and cleared her throat. "It's part of my duty. I don't know your problems, but I'm not the person to aid people. So it's a law to report the cases. So stay calm." Nurse Joy explained in a her usual professional voice.
"Stay calm? It's better if I died." Brendan said so coldly that it was intimidating.
"What's your problem? Aren't you glad you're going back to your family, kid?" Nurse Joy questions.
"Family? It's the one thing I'm trying to avoid. I was happy without them. And now you had to ruin it with leading them right to me." Brendan shouted. Even if his body is weak and in pain, he sat up quickly on the bed, ready to jump off of it.
"HEY, WHAT YOU THINK YOUR DOING? LAY DOWN." Nurse Joy immediately was on his side and prevented him from climbing off the bed.
"I'm gonna disappear. The last thing I want is some inconvenience. It's better for them and me." He said. Well he struggled to talk clearly. His body hurt. But unlike before, his fractured bone seems intact somehow. Only the bruises and small wounds remains to heal.
"You can't do that, kid. Just lay down. You'll hurt yourself again." Nurse Joy grasped both his shoulders and did her best to keep him seated.
"You expect me to listen to you? Well I'll gladly lay here only if you keep them away from me." He demanded and stopped struggling.
"What?"
"Yeah, tell them I'm dead or something. Or say that you mistook the wrong person. I don't know. I want them away. You created this all mess." He said infuriated.
Nurse Joy' expression changed that of a hurt look. "Well trying to save you even though I don't know much about human patients, was a mess? I spent my time on you while the pokemon needed medical attention had to wait. I'm a Nurse, Kid. I'm sorry if I gave you the priority or importance. Whatever you wanna call it. You dont know one thing about law. Even if I don't inform, officers would've figured it out anyway." She said. Her feelings are hurt. He basically insulted her efforts. Efforts to keep a disgraceful bastard alive.
"You keep saying it, duty and shit. All you had to do was ask for money. You dont know anything I've gone through. You better fix the damn problem. If anything horrible happens, I'm blaming you." Brendan barked in anger.
Nurse Joy sighed and didn't spoke anything. He's a hothead and that much is clear. But what isn't obvious is that this guy she keep calling kid can kill.
Brendan dragged his weight and leaned on the headrest of the bed. "Can you give me some room, Nurse? Or you'll need someone else's permission for that?" He mocked her.
Nurse Joy didn't speak anything and walked towards the exit. "And one more thing." He called. Nurse Joy stopped just as she twisted the door knob. She looks at him and she saw an unreadable look in his eyes.
"I really hope you know what you have done." He said it in a sinister way that caused goosebumps all over her body.
Maybe he's not just a dying patient like she thought. Maybe he's not a kid like she called him. And she clearly don't know that she's helping the bad guy here.
She exited the room without saying anything.
Hours passed. Brendan wanted to get out of the place already. But he knows that police won't leave his trail that easily. With the physical state he's in, only so much he can run. That Nurse fucked up big time. However he ain't nervous or anything. Bad memories fuelled anger and encouragement to destroy anyone who hurts him again. Officers or familiar, both will suffer if they decide to mess with him. Hyperbeam from his newly caught Tyranitar is enough to bring down the whole building. He'll gladly let it use the move if needed.
Brendan laid on his back, facing up at the ceiling. Deep in thought, he recalled some moments that worth remembering. Well, his run as a Rocket member gave him a lot more reasons to live. Memories was one of them. Unforgettable ones. Memories of his missions, projects and crimes. It's weird to think that, before he joined Team Rocket, he was basically living lies. He was strong all along but got suppressed by his family's view of him. They discouraged him while Team Rocket pushed him to the limits where he felt like unstoppable. Oh boy, he wish to be like this from the start. He would've showed them their place.
"Looks cozy." A female voice said out of the blue.
Brendan' head snapped to his right, towards the only window of the room. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw a girl. Not just any girl, though. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You have no idea do you?" He said.
"Should I crawl under the sheet next to ya. I'll do it though. No problem about that." The girl sounded a bit sultry. A way of her with him it seems.
She had white hair and pale skin. She wore grey sleevless hoodie that's cropped under her chest area. She wore black ripped short and red shoes. Her eyes were sharp and blue and her natural pink lips stands out on her pale skin.
"I'm fine." He replied.
"Sure you are. I'll ignore those nasty cuts and bruises. Aside from you're about to die from whatever shit you dragged yourself into, you look completely fine I say." Her words weren't to take seriously. It's sarcasm.
"I'm still alive, Cassy. Still breathing." He said.
The girl named Cassy pouted and climbed on the bed and that alone didn't seem to please her, so she straddled on top of him in an inappropriate way. Brendan was calm as if he's used to it. She placed both her arms on his chest and looks him in the eye. He hissed when she put pressure on his chest.
"What? Didn't I said I'll ignore these wounds of yours. You're perfectly fine, right, Babe?" She teased.
He sighed and looks at her. He knows that she's here for something. "Want me to quit, Team Rocket?" He said knowing her objective.
Cassy looks at him and nodded. "I have spent time with you guys. We enjoyed every part of it. But like I'm saying you all the time, there's something wrong with everything that's going on. I quit because I thought of things that seemed fishy. I want you to think about it." She said.
Brendan closed his eyes and felt her lips touching his. A way that she saying she's nervous or worried. From outside, she's a pervert minded girl. But she's the same as him. A rejected brat recruited by Team Rocket.
They heard the door open but didn't care. Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy froze on the spot wide eyed. Nurse Joy' cheeks turned crimson and Jenny cleared her throat. "Don't wanna butt in, but aren't you a bit too young for this." She asked. Eventually both of them stopped kissing and didn't even look at both women. "I won't force you. But if you decide it, let me know." She said only him to hear. Brendan nodded.
Cassy then looked at both women like Persian pokemon and winked. "Sorry, things got heated." She said and looks at Brendan. "Want me to stay?" She asked.
Brendan knew better than to let her go. "Stay." He said. Cassy slowly climbed off the bed and sat on the edge of it.
Jenny and Joy took that as a sign and continued. "Brendan Lightlife. I have couple of questions before you meet up with your family. Just be honest okay?" She said.
"Nobody's dying to meet them here. I don't care about your ways. I want things go without any headaches." He demanded.
Jenny sighed. "It's gonna be a long session." She mumbled.
