Chapter 12: Ace Decided,

The three watched as Mac lead Soroan and Snails towards them, Spike smiling wide as he watched them charging at them. Spike moved first and came to Mac, his arms out and low to the ground as Mac stopped his movement and looked at Spike's guard.

"Not use to face someone as tall as me huh?" Mac asked moving the ball around him and Spike keeping in sync with his movements, watching him closely.

"Nope, but I can feel it our after a few tries." Spike answered smiling and Mac smirked back at him moving the ball back and forth a few times before suddenly popping it off over their head. Spike's eyes widen and jump to get it only for it to slip past his hand. It landed in Soroan, who smirked and launched another three pointer, making it 8/6, Spike landed as he walked over to the ball and picked it up, staring at it for a few moments before grinning from ear to ear.

"Spike, are you okay?" Sandbar asked looking at him and Spike looked at him, his eyes burning like emeralds and his movement was different, like it wasn;t really him.

"Just fine." Spike said looking at the two as he bounced the ball, "I just found fresh meat to hunt." These words stuck with them and they gulped as they watched him bounce the ball a few times before checking it. Spike moved down the court with a drive like he hadn't before and came face to face with Mac, who had his guard up.

"Let's see what you can..." Mac's eyes widen as he looked at Spike, yet what he saw was a dragon. A large, snarling mountain of scales and his wings out. Burning green eyes looming over Mac, who just stared and gulped before he realized it. Spike was past him and he turned just as he to an lay-up, tying it at 8/8. Mac took deep breaths, sweat was running down his face and he turned to look at Spike, seeing him in his real body. Yet what did he see and feel just now. Mac saw the two walking up to him and he collected himself to look at them, "Sorry guys, i just felt...something about that last moment."

"Like you were facing off against a dragon ready to eat you?" Soroan asked looking at Mac, who looked back shocked before he slowly nodded, "Yeah, i felt that when I played with one on one." Soroan looked back at Spike, who was talking to his team as they seem to be planning something.

"T-Twilight." Luna asked looking at the court, her eyes locked on Spike and she felt her body shaking, "W-what did I just feel a moment ago?"

"Spike's not a normal player." Twilight said noticing her actions and let out a lite sigh, "Spike it's a king that would leader a kingdom like the other aces of the Five Kingdoms. He's a conquer that wants to face them and tumble them down." Twilight said looking at Spike with his team and watching him closely.

"I never thought Spike would be so, ruthless." Luna said with shock as she had not known much about him but she had seen him as a caring person and on to do such things.

"He doesn't do it out of malice or anything cruel." Twilight explained, "He wants to find a fun match where he can be put to his limit."

"But what about the match against the girls?" Luna asked remembering how good the girls were and he never played like this in it, "Did he not see them as a challenge?"

"Oh, no. He sure did." Twilight watched the game going on, Spike stealing the ball and the others working on getting to the other end of the court, "But he was playing to survive, not to win. He needs to play to win to act like that." The match continued on until it was 15/13 with only a minute left. Spike was watching as they had gotten the last point and was watching Soroan lead them to get to the other end of the court. Snips was spent and Sandbar had sweat running down his face, dripping on the court as he looked, seeing Soroan and Mac were like Spike, barely effected by the match, yet Snails was tired from it.

"So, we have only a minute left and we're ahead by two." Soroan said looking at the clock and then back at Spike, who was bouncing the ball and looked at him with fire in his eyes.

"Good, it's almost over." Snails said panting and looking at his team, yet he could see they were not letting their guard down.

"No, by the looks of it. It's nowhere near finished." Soroan and Mac both got ready, they were in the lead and knew they had to keep Spike from tying it up in these last minutes. Yet they knew they could do overtime more than his team. But they wanted to finish it here and now. Spike looked at them and smirked as the time start, moving down the court with his eyes on the two. Soroan and Mac moved closer, encircling him and watching his moves as he looked at each of them as he bounced. Soroan saw his chance and went for a steal. Spike saw this and spun around him to try to get on the outside.

"Not so fast." Mac yelled moving to stop Spike only for him to toss it to the side and Sandbar got it. He took his stance and a deep breath before launching the ball. Only to be knocked back by a sudden hand of Snails.

"Sorry, need to keep trying dude." Snails said as the ball bounced against the court behind Sandbar and was scooped up by Soroan, moving on as he smiled wide.

"Great job Snails." he said taking his spot and get ready to shoot the winning shot when he felt sudden pressure. What was it, he wasn't sure, yet he flinched for a second and then tossed it. For Snips to intercept it with both hands and threw it as he hit the court. Soroan turned to see Spike catch it and move on to the net with Mac hot on his heels. Soroan just stared, his chance to be the ace leaving him and he couldn't do anything. But Snails wasn't quitting as he stopped Spike and both of his team were surrounding him, they kept him in place and Soroan saw they had thirty-five-minute left before the end. He bolted from where he was, watched his team keeping Spike in place, but he knew that the three of working together was better at keeping him down. they had the lead, so they could just run out the clock and get the win. Spike watched Soroan approach and suddenly tossed it hard behind him. Soroan was shocked at he watched the ball fly over his head and he saw it land in Snips, who tossed it to Sandbar. Who stood at the three point line and lined up his shot. "W-what?" Soroan said watching him to his place and shook his head, he couldn't do a three, he's not ready for that. But what if he could get a lucky shot, that is possible. Soroan swallowed hard before rushing to block him. Only for him to bump into Mac who was doing the same thing. Sandbar spun on his heels and launched the ball through the air, into Spike's hands. He lined up and fired with three seconds on the clock, every one watched it fly through the air and landed in the net much to the shock of them. The clock hit zero and the busser sounded, leaving a score of 15/16.

"Yeah, we did it." Sandbar yelled smiling as he looked at the score and looked at Spike, who was smiling and gave them the thumbs up, making him smile wider. Snips attacked him from behind and hugged him as Spike walked up, the trio fived as they celebrated the victory. Soroan watched them smiling and celebrating, he smiled at seeing them do that.

"Sorry Soroan." a voice said and he turned to see his two teammates where standing there, watching him watch the other celebrate, "I guess it would have been better with another team." Soroan looked at him and just smiled, patting his back as he looked at the others celebrating from their win.

"We did the best we could and worked hard to get close." he said looking at the others and sighed, smiling at his team, "You two did great, I couldn't have asked for a better team to try and get me the ace spot. But i guess it wasn't meant to be." He watched them celebrate and wished he could join them, yet he knew his future on the team lost after his actions.

After the game, they all got towels and water as they sat on the bench with Luna standing over Soroan, shooting him a glare as he hung his head down. He knew what was coming and he deserved it more then anything,

"Soroan, you stuck Spike with no provocation and than left before coming back to chalnge him to be the ace." Luna said looking down at him and she could see he wasn't going to defend what he had done.

"My cheek doesn't really hurt anymore." Spike said raising his hand and Luna looked at him as Mac made him put his hand down.

"Normally, this would make you be suspended and removed fromt he team." Luna said with a long sigh escaping her lip and her look softened, "But Twilight has talked me out of lessoning the punishment. So, after the training camp. A full two week of detention and a one warning, if it happens again, you will be done with the team understood?" Soroan's head shot up and he looked at them confused for a few moments, his mind racing over what he had just heard.

"I-I'm still on the team?" he asked still shocked and Luna nodded with Twilight stepping up in front of him.

"Soroan, I realized I should have worded it better yesterday." Twilight said taking a deep breath, "Wehn i said no ones spot is set, i meant that so you didn't lose your focus to get better. This team is at the bottom, we don't have a rank and many will think we're not worth the effort. But we will prove them wrong, each of you will work hard and get better, i think you've already seen how good you've already gotten." She looked at Snipe, Sandbar, and Snails, who all blush and smiled as they had noticed in the game, "Soroan, I can tell you now that you will be the starting shooting guard, but don't think that means you can't try." Soroan looked at her and smiled as he slowly stood up.

"I wasn't upset about that, I was upset becuase I was once part of team that had an ace that put me down from trying new things and that i could be replaced by anyone." he explained looking at them, "That doesn't mean what I did was right, so I should say this." He stepped forward and looked at the team. "I'm sorry for what I said, I was out of line and shouldn't have said it. And Spike, I'm sorry for the punch."

"If you're really sorry." Spike said standing up and smiled, "Than you'll by us all a treat at Sugar Cube Corner."

"Wait, what?" he said confused.

"Yeah, that seems like a fair trade." Mac said standing up and smiled as the others all smiled at that idea.

"O-okay guys. That's funny." he said nervse as eh looked at Twilight, "But I'm sure coach wouldn't want us to eat that stuff."

"Well, you all did work out a lot in last few days." she said tapping her chin, "A refuel of that source could be good." She said smiling as they all cheered and headed out, all except Soroan. Who watched them walk in shock as he could feel his account began to cry.
