All the way to the source of the frantic screams, Jake prayed it was something minor. Maybe a bank robbery? Maybe just some leftover X-borgs? Or, hell, even Loogies? When he and Gia got to the source, right inside a small park not to far from the main beach, what they saw confused them. People were being chased away by monsters they have never seen before. The reminded Jake of mutant fish, something like he'd seen in biology class, when he was shown what creatures look like that live in the deepest, darkest depths of ocean. These monsters looked like those mixed with mutant fish. Whatever they were, they were deep red, mouths that pretty much covered their faces, and wielded wicked looking swords. Jake felt a bit uneasy, as they reminded him of the monster he had encountered twice in his nightmares.

"Let's morph" Gia stated, as Jake took a sharp breath.

"I left my morpher in the hotel room"

"Seriously?"

"Well, I didn't think I'd need it!" Gia sighed, knowing he was right. She reached for her own morpher, but grabbed air. Frantically, she patted down her waist, looking for her morpher, until she realised that, she too, was without the special ranger powers.

"Looks like we're taking them down old school." Gia sighed.

"Not like we haven't done that before" Jake added, charging in, Gia right behind. The two rangers realised quickly that these monsters were stronger than Loogies, and certainly had more brains that X-borgs. Jake was struggling to keep them down, while Gia pretty much had to keep her head on a constant swivel, making sure there was no one behind her before she went in to attack. However, the two rangers were not completely in the dark. They've handled situations like this before, and knew how to work together, with or without the ranger suits. Once they were back to back, they were able to better judge the other's instincts, which made them very deadly. Every one of the mutant fish monsters that tried to attack was brought down quickly, but when one went down, two more seemed to take their place.

"They just keep coming!" Gia cried out to Jake as she took down another two baddies.

"You know…" Jake started, but was cut off by Gia.

"Jake, I swear to god, if you say 'That's what she said' I'm leaving you" Gia stated, punching down another bad guy.

"Um...I wasn't going to say that." Jake cleared up, after kicking down three baddies in a row. "I was saying maybe we wouldn't be so easy of targets if we got the high ground"

"That...is actually not a bad idea" Gia admitted, and began to run from the gathering crowd of monsters. She grabbed Jake's arm, and took off into the park. Towards the park's center, Gia spotted a raised gazebo, with the only way in being an elongated entry ramp. The monsters would be easier to crush if they came at them single-file, and the gazebo was too high off the ground for the monsters to climb up into it. Knowing it was their best bet, Gia took off to the gazebo, dragging Jake behind her. Once up on it, they both got ready, and held back the monsters from coming up the ramp. Once they had developed a strategy, the monsters fell like bowling pins. It was when it seemed that they were almost gone when Jake noticed a new battalion of the monsters. They bore less armor, but were also equipped with bows and arrows. It didn't take a genius to know they were no longer safe in the gazebo.

"Gia!" Jake grabbed her shoulder just as a monster let loose his bow string, firing a blood red arrow right at the gazebo. Gia screamed upon seeing the projectile flying right at her face, and shut her eyes. When she didn't feel the arrow, she opened her eyes, and saw the tip of the head mere inches from her nose. She then realized that Jake's hand was wrapped firmly around the arrow's shaft. Jake had caught the arrow.

"How did you…?" Gia gaped as Jake threw the arrow out of the gazebo.

"Instinct." he responded. "But that's the least of our worries. Right now, we got these...things to deal with."

"Not anymore. Look" Gia pointed at the monster swordsmen still trying to get up the ramp, however, they were slowing down, and Jake could see cracks lining their torsos.

"Are they...drying out?" Jake asked, wide eyed.

"Seems like it" Gia nodded. Jake looked out to the archers, and saw that, they too, were drying up. All of a sudden, they all vanished, leaving a very stunned Jake and Gia alone in the park's gazebo.

"Um" Jake began.

"The hell was that?" Gia asked. Jake only shrugged his shoulders.

"Beats me. We should tell the others about this…"

"Uh uh."

"Gia, they need to know about this."

"Nope"

"Gia"

"Negative"

"Gia, their our team. If something else really is brewing, and it is our responsibility to end it, then they should know."

"But this isn't our responsibility. We're retired rangers. This is for the next team" Gia stated, pulling Jake into a hug and resting her head on his chest. "Maybe it was a one off or something, but until it at least becomes more of a threat, we're not telling a soul."

"Alright" Jake agreed, kissing her forehead. "We'll keep this between us."

I know it was kinda short, but I've been busy with school starting back up. Anyway, drop a comment or suggestion, and look for the next chapter coming soon!
