-Chapter 39-
-Shelby pov-
"Since we have some kids who want to be rebels I think I have our theme" I see the three girls squirm "We will be doing songs of rebellion and revolution for regionals!"
"Awesome!" Puck is immediately standing "I have a song! Can I go? Please! I really have a good one!"
"Uhh yeah" I smile at his enthusiasm "I appreciate you stepping up for this prompt!"
He smiles and heads to the band guys. I get worried by the smirks I see. It is just going to be a rebel or revolution song. This can not be that bad.
Can it?
-Noah singing-
They're gonna clean up your looks with all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun and keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work, they're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads, your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said "All teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed"
So, darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
The boys and girls in the clique, the awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you're troubled and hurt, what you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did
They said "All teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed"
So, darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me, oh, hoo yeah!
They said "All teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed"
So, darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me, all together now!
"Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed"
So, darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me, yeah!
"Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed"
So, darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me!
"Well that is not what I was expecting" I turn to see Kurt raising his hand "Uh do you have something better?"
"Maybe" Kurt takes Noah's spot "Boys play along"
-Kurt singing-
He hit the ground running,
At the speed of light.
The star was brightly shining,
Like a neon light.
It's your favorite son.
It's your favorite son.
A fixture on the talkshows,
To the silver screen.
From here to Colorado,
He's a sex machine.
It's your favorite son.
It's your favorite son.
But isn't it a drag?
Isn't it a drag?
Isn't it a drag?
It's pretty bloody sad,
but isn't it a drag?
A clean-cut All-American,
Really ain't so clean.
His royal auditorium,
Is a murder scene.
It's your favorite son.
It's your favorite son.
Oh, isn't it a drag?
Isn't it a drag?
Isn't it a drag?
It's pretty bloody sad,
but isn't it a drag?
Well no one says it's fair.
Turn a teenage lush,
To a millionaire.
Now where's your fuckin' champion?
On a bed you laid.
He's not the All-American,
That you thought you paid.
It's your favorite son.
It's your favorite son.
But isn't it a drag?
"Well that was something" Kurt looks at finn and then goes back to his seat "Maybe I did the wrong choice here"
"I got one!" Oh god not Tina "Lincoln park!"
-Tina singing-
I've seen the blood
I've seen the broken
The lost and the sights unseen
I want a flood
I want an ocean
To wash my confusion clean
I can't resolve this empty story
I can't repair the damage done
We are the fortunate ones
Who've never faced oppression's gun
We are the fortunate ones
Imitations of rebellion
We acted out
We wear the colors
Confined by the things we own
We're not without
We're like each other
Pretending we're here alone
And far away, they burn their buildings
Right in the face of the damage done
We are the fortunate ones
Who've never faced oppression's gun
We are the fortunate ones
Imitations of rebellion
Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion
Rebellion, rebellion
We lost before the start
Rebellion, rebellion
One by one we fall apart
We fall apart
We fall apart
We fall apart
We are the fortunate ones
Who've never faced oppression's gun
We are the fortunate ones
Imitations of
Imitations of...
We are the fortunate ones
Who've never faced oppression's gun
We are the fortunate ones
Imitations of rebellion
Rebellion, rebellion, rebellion
"THAT IS IT!" I throw my papers away "Obviously I chose the wrong theme for this group! You all need
To see Emma and get help! Dear god! What the hell is wrong with all of you?!"
"Do you want the honest answer?" I glare at Santana and she stands up "I have a song option"
"Fuck it!" I motion to the front "Do your worst!"
-Santana singing-
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright, al...
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You'd better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
"Depending on your definition that was good" Santana looks straight at me "Some people are revolting against nations other are rebelling against family or parents"
"Like my dad wanting to be with Finn more" I turn toward Kurt "It has nothing to do with anything but the fact that my song was my feelings to that"
"I have been told many times my generation is what is wrong with this country" I look at Noah in understanding "I mean everyday the older generation says we are the problem and we do not care"
"We know revolution and rebellion" I nod as Tina speaks "We also know what it is like to be shut out by people your age...it happens everyday to us all"
"Wow" I look at all of the club kids "I-is that how all of you feel?"
There are a bunch of nods "Glee is our safe place" I look at my daughter who has a small smile on her face "It is where we can be free and be us to our full potential!"
"Be yourselves huh?" They all nod and I look at the whiteboard "I have an idea then for your theme"
I walk over and grab a black marker. I uncap it and start writing. I circle and underline the word on the board. I cap the marker and turn to them.
"Our theme will be original" they all look confused "You will be in charge of writing and original song! The best one will have a duet or solo! I also expect everyone to get together so we can write a group number!"
"I think this is a wonderful idea" Rachel smiles brightly "I think it gives us all a chance to shine"
Everyone hums their agreements and I dismiss the meeting. They all leave while discussing the plans. This is going to be a long road to regionals. I honestly can not wait now.
I can not wait to hear what they al bring to the table.
