About a month had passed. The Langans had gone to Hartford to celebrate Thanksgiving with Trevor's brother and his family and the rest of Lisa's family went to New York to Ed and Maggie's. Ed and Maggie had extended the invitation to Olivia and her family but they declined. The Voights were looking forward to spending the Thanksgiving as a family and that included some close friends. Will, Natalie and Owen had been invited over to Hank and Olivia's since they were now family and they were both off for a change. They had also invited Casey and Antonio, Kyle and Alex, Trudy, Donna, Terrance and the Olinskys. Antonio's kids were with Laura. Wallace, Mouch, Gabby and Matt had to work. Hank was doing the turkey and everyone else was bringing something to contribute.
"Olivia, thank you so much for inviting us."
"You're very welcome. We invited Cindy and the kids too but they turned our invitation down."
"It seems like it's every other year when Wallace has to work."
"Last year Gabby was off, so that sounds about right. I can't deal with my family sometimes. My mom I don't mind but my dad is an ass. Gabby gets that."
"That sounds like me and my dad. I'm not the wonderful son that Will is but I was the one there when our mom died. It's kind of scary that I'm closer to my boss, who's my father-in-law, than I am my own dad."
"Dad didn't even want to be bothered with the holiday anyway and I wasn't going to force the issue. We may stop over there later."
"Big deal."
"You're kind of cranky, aren't you?"
"Shut up!"
"Don't tell me to shut up!"
"Don't tell me what to do."
Will smacked Jay in the head and then Jay hit him back.
"Ok boys, that's enough!"
"Where's Helen spending the holiday?"
"With her sister. Speaking of Helen, she invited all of us to Christmas dinner and that includes you and Erin."
"That should be ok. We'll probably be here Christmas Eve and for breakfast Christmas morning."
"How's the renovating coming?"
"It's going pretty well. We're hoping it'll be done by the time the baby gets here."
"Do either of you know what you're having yet?"
"Yep. We're having a girl."
"So are we. She'll be named Nadia Erin."
"Ours will be Camille Olivia."
"That's a nice tribute to Nadia."
"I wouldn't have it any other way. I still miss her so much."
"We all do. She would have made a great cop."
"Thanks, Trudy."
Hank went to check on the turkey and then came back.
"Smells good."
"Still a while to go though. Once the bird is out of the oven, we can warm everything else up."
"Noah is looking forward to pie."
"He would."
"What are you up to for Christmas, Liv?"
"I have no idea."
"So, Kyle, why aren't you with your family?"
"My parents went to my sister's and my brother went to New York."
"Where is your sister at?"
"St. Louis. I wasn't about to go down there with Lisa gone and Olivia still not on full duty. I think there is only a few of us around this weekend anyway."
"Sounds about right. I know Kim is around and so is Stephanie. Kyle takes his job very seriously."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. I love Fin, don't get me wrong but he always fought me about become a Sergeant. I'm glad he's one now though."
"I think our entire unit is around."
"I think you're right."
"How's Upton doing?"
"Great. She's been a great addition to the squad."
"Good."
"She just better keep her hands off of my man!"
"Jealous?"
"Shut up! I'm very hormonal right now."
"Babe, I get it. I'm not interested in anyone but you."
"You better not be or you will have to deal with the wrath of Hank Voight."
"You and our daughter are my entire world."
Jay kissed Erin's forehead, rubbed her belly and went to check on the kids. Then he came back.
"Are they staying out of trouble?"
"Yeah. Lexie is sleeping and the boys are watching their movie."
"At least they're quiet."
"True."
"Then Noah came into the living room."
"Can we go to the fire station?"
"Maybe after we eat, ok?"
"Ok."
Noah went back into the family room and told Daniel, Owen and Terrance. About an hour later, Hank took the turkey out of the oven and put the sides and rolls in. Olivia had gotten up and went to join Hank in the kitchen.
"There is nothing sexier than a man that cooks."
She went over and wrapped her arms around him before kissing him. Once everything was ready, Jay and Justin came in to help, while Hank started carving the turkey. Everyone went to find a seat and Justin put Lexie in her high chair. Everyone ate and enjoyed each other's company. After dinner, they decided to head over to the fire station before dessert. Olivia, Erin and Olive took Lexie and the boys, Natalie took Owen, Donna took Terrance, and Trudy and Antonio rode over together, while mostly everyone else cleaned up. When they arrived at the fire station, they got out of the vehicles and went in.
"Hey, look who's here!"
"Hey, everyone."
Wallace came over to kiss Donna and Terrance and Trudy kissed Mouch, while Antonio hugged Gabby and Matt.
"This is a surprise."
"They boys wanted to come for a visit. You guys busy today?"
"It's been a little slow."
"Daddy, I made you this."
"Thank you, Little Man."
Wallace hugged Terrance.
"How was dinner?"
"It was great."
"Good. How's the shoulder, Olivia?"
"It's much better. I'm still not on full duty but that doesn't bother me all that much."
"How are you two feeling?"
"I'll be happy when this is over with. I hate peeing as much as I do."
"No kidding."
"I don't miss that."
"Lexie gets cuter every time we see her."
Lexie smiled at Kelly.
"Olivia, thanks for thinking of Cindy and the kids. She takes the kids to one of the homeless shelters and they help serve dinner there. We'll have our Thanksgiving feast tomorrow after I get off of my shift."
"That's great that they do that. Rafael's mother does that through her church. She was going to help Ed and Maggie cook dinner and then she was going to go over there. She does that for Christmas too. She wanted to take Kevin over there with her this year."
"We're doing a toy drive here, so if both Districts want to help out with that, we'd really appreciate it."
"I'm fine with it. I can keep the box by me."
"I'll talk to the Desk Sergeant at my District too.
"I'll talk to Sharon and see if she'd be interested in helping out as well."
"Thanks, Doc. We also need clothes, underwear, socks, coats, gloves, hats, etc. of all sizes from infant up to adult."
"If you have a sign or something, I could probably post it at my office. I'm sure Trevor and Greg wouldn't mind."
"I'll get you one. Thanks. We need all the publicity we can get. We're hoping to get the other firehouses and Police Districts involved as well."
"I'll post something at my school too."
"That's awesome, Donna! Thanks."
Everyone let the boys climb on the equipment and then they headed back to Hank and Olivia's.
"We're back."
"I missed you."
"We missed you too."
Olivia kissed Hank and told everyone what they had found out at the fire station. Everyone agreed to do what they could to help. They had pie and then after a while, mostly everyone went home. Will, Natalie and Owen went to see Pat and Will told Jay he would let him know how things went. Jay told him not to even bother. Olivia had gotten phone calls from Lisa and Trevor, Amanda and Sonny, Fin and Melinda, Rafael, Don, John, Nick and Ed. The family ended up having turkey sandwiches for dinner and watched movies together before Erin and Jay went home. The next day, Erin and Jay had come over again and they started to put the Christmas decorations up.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Reviews are appreciated.
