Arrangements
"Okay, spill", Cana corners the Sky Dragon-Slayer, "How is he?"
Wendy could feel her back pressing up against the wall and despite all of her draconian strength, it refuses to budge against the pressure she was applying to it. For the first time in a long time, she was the prey and all of her big sisters were the predators, eyeing her with an unnatural gleam in their eyes.
"W-What?", she stammers out, wishing that Chelia, Beth, or even Carla, were here to back her up.
"How. Is. He?", Cana empathize, "You're not going to stand here and tell me that your first time was your only time? Surely you have done the dirty deed in other places."
Wendy diverts her eyes to the ceiling, "Weeeeelllllllll", as the hyenas press in on her.
"Are you a top or are you the bottom?", Lucy asks.
"Does he prefer your top or your bottom?", Levy added.
"Are you guys into foreplay?", Evergreen voices.
"Are you guys into roleplay?", Mira wonders.
"Why is this interrogation starting to turn into a rhyme?", Wendy questions to herself while briefly wondering what her mate was going through.
Back on the Main Floor
The guild was rowdy once more now that everything had calm down for the moment. Lei was busy drinking half of the guild under the table, her roars of laughter being heard over all of the mugs that were being slammed. Off to the side, Kori was quietly sipping on tea alongside Freed while the two discuss matters of the current political situation of the Pergrande Kingdom and how the effects would be far-reaching and long-lasting for Isghar.
Romeo was off in the corner, being congratulated by his father and Wakaba while Juri was still being seen to by Evlan as she kept bandaging her up.
While Totomaru on the other hand….
"The gods are laughing at me right now, I just know it", Totomaru grumbled as he sat at the tavern alongside a hysterical laughing Gajeel and a smiling Juvia, "The fact that I am now temporarily part of the same guild I try to destroy more than a decade ago is no doubt the highest of irony."
"Cheer up, Totomaru-Kun. Juvia-chan thinks you will have a good time being a part of Fairy Tail!", the Water Mage says in an effort to cheer her friend up.
"Gi Hi Hi Hi", came forth from Gajeel's mouth, "Cheer up, rainbow flamey! Besides, it can't be any worse than what you beforehand!"
Totomaru holds up three fingers.
"First off, you swore to never use that nickname again. Second, I am the headmaster at one of the most highly-acclaim magic school in the country and now the teachers in my employment have to take up the slack while I'm gone", Totomaru began before looking across the counter where Master Makarov and his own teacher were busy clinking mug and downing ale, "And third, Master Yoso, what possible reason could there be that I have to join this guild?"
The Grand Master Rainbow Element magic holds up a finger while he finishing chugging down the tall glass of alcohol in his hand in one breath, actually impressing the former Phantom Lord's trio who have only ever seen Cana achieved such a feat.
"Was he always like this?", Gajeel whispers to the fire mage.
"He was always hitting the alcohol pretty hard during our travels. But it never impending his judgment nor was he ever hungover the next day", Totomaru answers just right before his teacher slams the mug on the countertop.
"It's quite simple, young Totomaru-", Yoso began.
"With all due respect, Master, I'm thirty-two. I would appreciate it if you would drop the "young" title", Totomaru voices.
"And I am eighty-five, so the "young" title is going to stay", Yoso counters, "Now as I was saying; the main reason for this has to do with your pupil. Seeing how he is a guild mage and doing jobs is their main source of income, it would be rude for me to take that away from him."
"I can see where you are coming from with that logic, Master Yoso, but why did the rest of us have to become temporary members?", Totomaru asks again.
"That too is quite simple, young Totomaru. You see I wasn't expecting to run into my old traveling pal, Makarov, here. I could not skip out on the opportunity to catch up with him again, so I decided that instead of doing the usual method where the Master would have to travel the lands with his three students and their pupils, I will be sticking to the local region around Magnolia and you all will be taking up shop in the inns here. You will also be taking on local jobs that Makarov will be so kind as to provide in order to help pay for your accommodations."
"I already have a place to stay. My schoolhouse also functions as my home", Totomaru points out.
"While that is all fine and dandy for you, your fellow comrades would need a place as well to stay at", Master Yoso before a thought occur to him, "Although, unless you're suggesting that your fellow masters and their students can take up residence at your home."
Totomaru began to widen in horror, "I said no such th-"
"That is mighty generous of you, Totomaru and here I thought you hated those two! It would seem that you have mature quite well over the years!", Yoso screams before turning his head in the direction that his other two students were participating in their current activities, "Lei! Kori!"
Both women turn their heads to see what their master wanted; with Lei was halfway through chugging down mug while Kori continues slipping her tea.
"You gals and your pupils are going to be staying at Totomaru's place for the time being!"
The reaction of the two was just as Rainbow Fire teacher expected them to be as large amount of beer along with a stream of tea go spewing out through the air and both Gajeel and Juvia found themselves push aside all of a sudden as Lei and Kori both appear on either side of Totomaru.
"What?!", Lei erupted, her lightning bolts coursing through her body and onto the tavern counter itself where are hands were slammed into, "Is this some kind of a sick fucking joke?! You want us to stay in the same house as this giant pervert!"
"Surely you jest, Master Yoso!", Kori adds, displaying raw emotion for the first time since she arrived at the guild hall while her ice magic began to freeze up her part of the counter, "For four fair damsels such as ourselves to stay under the same roof as this brute! Why, the very thought feels me with revulsion!"
"Pervert? Brute? Damsels?", Totomaru repeats while looking back and forth between the two women, "Okay, none of the words you just said made any sense."
"Don't even try to play innocent! This is all just an attempt for you to see me naked just like you try to do when we were at the hot springs in Midi!", Lei screeches.
"Okay, first of all", Totomaru said while staying up, "We were ten, I wasn't trying to see anyone naked. In case you forgot, that was a bear that peek on you two while Master Yoso and myself were on the other side of the springs while you two were being watched by an old friend of his."
Makarov's ear perk up, "Old friend? Midi?", he said before looking over at Yoso, "Did you run into Reya back then?", he asks only to receive a nod in return.
"Sure did, she has like five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren last I heard", Yose said before returning his attention back to his students.
"That one time just happen to be a bear, but don't try and deny that you didn't harbor uncontrollable lust for our fair maiden bodies back then. As we grew older and blossom more we could feel your eyes on us the whole time", Kori accused Totomaru while Lei nodded in agreement.
"It quite obvious that something was in those drinks of yours because you two are clearly being crazy right now", Totomaru counterattack, "You two were nowhere close to maidens. You didn't blossom and if anything you were demons in the guise of humans girls and you barely passed for that."
"Why you little!", Lei shouts right before she pounces on Totomaru, with Kori joining in a second later as the three "mature" students of Master Yoso descended into a cartoonish-like brawl as limbs could be seen appearing out of the large white smoke they were creating along with Totomaru's katana, Kori's ice claws, and Lei's electrifying fist.
"Shouldn't you do something about this?", Gajeel voices to Yoso who merely shook his head.
"This happened all the time back in the day, they will tire themselves out eventually", he replies before looking over at Makarov, "Don't worry though, they are still going to need some spending cash while they stay in Magnolia, so if it's alright with you, I would like them to be semi-active members of your guild and do jobs."
"I see no problem with that", Makarov says, "Though Totomaru does still need to repay back all the damages he causes the guild during the Fairy Tail/Phantom Lord guild wars.
"Oh, nevermind then, keep him on", Yoso said.
Meanwhile, over at a table in the far corner, Macao was "celebrating" with his only child.
"So you and Wendy finally went and did it, huh? Words can't express how proud I am that you finally lost your v-card!", Macao said as he puts an arm around his dejected son.
"Your approval feels me with shame for some reason", he grumbles.
"I have to admit, kid, that was a pretty ballsy thing to do especially seeing the reaction that Natsu and the others gave you", Wakaba chimes in from his spot across from them as he takes a puff of his cigar.
"Please, my son has a pair on him that rivals my own! He's a chip off the old block!", Macao says as he leans in, "Now be honest, Wendy is quite the firecracker in bed, isn't she?"
"Gods, kill me now!", Romeo prayed.
Back in the Basement.
"So what you are saying is that Romeo has no problem being on the bottom, loves to cuddle and talk afterward, is tender and sweet in the bedroom, and even cooks meals for you when you guys are done?", Cana listed off.
"Yes, he does all that", Wendy says from her chair in front of the semi-circle the rest of the girls were forming, with Cana standing up in the middle directly in front of her.
"Wow", Cana says as she took a deep breath, "He sounds pretty fucking boring."
"Cana!", Lucy screams.
"What?! I expected way more from the Macao's and Enno's kid! You could hear those two throughout the guild hall and sometimes all of Magnolia whenever they went at it!"
"You seem to have forgotten that they also had one of the most brutal divorces the town has ever seen which still traumatizes Romeo to a degree since he was only four when it happened.", Levy states.
"Details", Cana counters, "But seriously, Wendy, I knew that Romeo was your bitch but I didn't think it was this bad."
A wave of anger swell up in the dragon-slayer as she stood up came face to face with the Card Mage, or she would have if she still wasn't one of the shorter members of the guild.
"Now wait just a minute!", she booms, "Romeo and I have an equal and caring relationship!"
Cana snorts, "Yeah, you wish. You have him follow you around like he's a lost puppy and you snap at any girl that even things about getting too close to him! Just look back to what happened not even half an hour ago."
The air inside of the basement began to pick up and the girls could see Wendy's hair starting to rise up on its own.
"Okay, I'll admit that I lost control there but that girl was physically threatening Romeo!"
"Oh, was Lindsay physical threatening Romeo when you nearly crush her neck?", Cana asks, "You can still see a slight imprint of your hand around her throat if you look close enough."
The sole female dragon-slayer in Ishgar instantly deflates and she went from raging storm to a smoothing breeze, "I-I may have stepped out of line that one time."
"Well, I hope you don't do that again because Romeo is going to have a lot of female companionship for a while", Cana says as she downs bottle she pulled out of her card bag.
One could actually hear the screeching noise as Wendy's mind came to a complete and abrupt stop, "What was that?"
"You didn't hear what that Yoso fellow said? Romeo and those two girls are practically going to be competing against each other for that rainbow title or whatever", Cana explains, "Which means those girls are going to be in very close contact with his sweaty, muscular body when you're not around."
Wendy's face went full-on red, though whether from anger, embarrassment, or a mixture of both, no one could tell.
In a flash she was up the stairs, leaving behind a smirking Cana and a gaggle of flabbergasted girls.
"W-why did you do that?", Lucy questions after a moment.
Cana merely takes another swig of her bottle before answering, "Because I'm bored, that's why. Dark guilds don't do the whole "take over the world or destroy the world" thing like they used to nowadays", she said before snapping her fingers, "Damn it, I knew I forgot something! I forgot to ask her how big he was!"
"Why would you need to know that?", Levy asks, "You have known Romeo since the day he was born."
Cana shrugs, "Why else? To tease Laxus", she said before noticing the looks she was getting from her friends, "What? You guys are making seem like I want to bang him or something."
"That would be kind of creepy when you think about it", Lisanna spoke up, "How weird would it be to sleep with a guy who was at one point a little kid while you were fully-grown?"
(Both Lisanna and Cana turn toward the person currently writing the chapter and mouth the words "Update Ladies' Man of Fairy Tail, damn you! The fans have waited long enough!")
Romeo's mind was still wondering how he went banging his head on the table while his dad was talking in the main hall of the guild to lying on the floor at the top of its tower in a blink of an eye while his body was still recovering from the ordeal.
"You would never cheat on me, right?", he heard Wendy ask him from her position standing next to him and once he felt the urge to vomit go down, he looks up at her from his spot on the ground.
"Huh?"
"You would never cheat on me?", she asks again.
Romeo forces himself to his feet and looks Wendy in the eyes, "Where did this come from?"
"I mean, you're going to be spending a lot of time around those girls, especially that Juri girl, and I feel that...", Wendy started to explain.
"That I'm going to find myself attracted to a crazy and possibly psychopathic girl like that. I think you are overthinking this whole situation, Wendy", the fire mage tells her.
"I just think that maybe you shouldn't do this", she says.
"You mean help Master Totomaru?" Romeo says.
Wendy nods at this.
"Huh", Romeo says before going quiet for a moment. The seconds turn into minutes as the Rainbow Fire mage and Sky Dragon-Slayer stood there in silence, the passing wind being the only sound that could be heard in their general vicinity.
"You know, that's pretty unfair", Romeo finally says.
"What?", Wendy said, not expecting this kind of answer, "How?"
"I mean, I finally get a chance to expand my magic and get stronger, yet you want me to discard this opportunity just because you, for some reason, believe that I'm going to end up cheating on you with some girls I just met little more than an hour ago", Romeo explains.
"Well, I mean-", Wendy struggles to counter.
"I have never got mad when you went off with Natsu and the others to save the world. Not during the 100-year quest thing, which I ended up getting more involved in than I could ever imagine. I didn't get mad when you guys left to put down that Alvarez general and his remnants that were terrorizing the Pergrande Kingdom, or when you guys went off to stop those Acnologia cultists from resurrecting him", Romeo listed off.
"Now wait a sec", Wendy started, only for Romeo to keep going.
"I may have gotten a little jealous during these times from being put on the sidelines, but I have gotten used that. My magic is nowhere near as powerful as any of yall and it would just get in the way. But that now the chance is presented to me to better myself and actually become useful, you suggest that I don't take it. Not going to lie, Wendy, it almost sounds like you don't trust me and that you don't want me to become a better mage."
Wendy mulls his words over in her head and looks down at her feet in shame. Why was she telling Romeo not to do this? Was it because she was jealous that his free time which was mostly spent with her would instead be consumed by this successor choosing ordeal? Romeo has gone on pretty of jobs with Lucy and the other girls and yet nothing happened. This might have to do with the fact that all of them already had significant others but Romeo still did jobs with Lindsay, and he has even done a couple with Chelia and Beth, even after the camping incident.
So what made this so different? What was putting Wendy on edge about her mate being around a group of beautiful women when he himself is constantly surrounded by them on a daily basis?
"Romeo", she finally spoke, "It's not that I don't trust you or anything."
"Then let me do this. An opportunity has fallen into my lap and I would be a fool to skip out on it."
For some reason, it was in that moment that Cana's words came back rushing back to Wendy's mind and she realizes that she was trying to do the very thing she swore that she wasn't.
Controlling Romeo.
Wendy lets out a sigh, "Fine then."
Romeo wraps her in a hug, surprise the girl with his sudden forwardness, "Thanks, Wendy, and don't worry, I'm still going to try and spend as much time as I can with you even while doing this. I mean, it probably not going to be easy, but how hard can it be?"
Fast forward a few hours later and back to the other main character of the story
"Sweet mercy of the magic gods, this school of yours is a dump", Lei voices as she, Kori, Juri, Evlan, and Totomaru stood outside the large three-story stone building which was the titled
Fiore Academy for the Elemental Magical Arts,
which was located between Magnolia and Hargeon and accommodated children from both towns, the surrounding villages, and sometimes even beyond.
Totomaru turns to sneer, the hand on the hilt of his katana threatening to unsheathe it, "I have you know it's one of the top ten magic-education faculties in Ishgar for pre-teen mages."
"Blah, blah, blah. Fancy words and made-up titles, I'm sooooo impress", Lei mocks.
"The Magic Council must have pretty low standards if they consider this place a top-rated school", Juri whispers to Evlan, right before she gets swatted upside the head by her teacher.
"Ow, what was that for?", she screams while rubbing it, only to receive a glare from Lei.
"You're being disrespectful to Master Totomaru", the Rainbow Lightning Mage said.
"But you just insulted him yourself! You and Master Kori have been insulting him all day!", Juri tries to argue.
"Because we have the same title as him and therefore can. You and Evlan are still pupils and will thus treat Master Totomaru with the respect his title deserves, understand?", Lei counters, sending jolts of lightning through the air to emphasize her point, causing Juri to vigorously nod her head in response.
Kori merely had to level a cold stare Evlan and the girl got the message loud and clear.
"Good", Lei said, "Now apologizes to Master Totomaru and thank him for having us"
Kori and Evlan instantly drop the small backpacks they were carrying and bow to Totomaru.
"My apologies for my rude comment, Master Totomaru! Thank you for providing a roof over our heads!", the young student shouted.
"Thank you for providing accommodations to us during this time", Evlan said afterward.
Totomaru merely stares at the two girls for a moment before focusing his attention on their teachers, who merely stared back.
"Head through the front door and take the first right to the stairwell, it will lead you to the guest rooms. I have to talk to your masters", he says, and both the girls grab their stuff and left. It wasn't until the door close behind them that Totomaru finally spoke.
"I'm going laid some ground rules right here and now and I expect you to relay them to your pupils", he said.
"Oh, and these rules are?", Kori asks.
"School is out for the holidays and will start back up again in little over a week. When it does you will not disrespect me in front of my students or my staff. You will not harass them and you will not interfere with lessons", Totomaru ordered, "You are only here because Master Yoso basically force me to provide a place for you to stay free of charge, but that doesn't mean I won't have you arrested if you cause trouble."
Lei lets out laughs," Wow, and here I thought we were getting along", as she moves past him toward the door with Kori soon following behind her.
"Oh, by the way", Totomaru calls after them, "I only have two guest rooms so you guys will have to share. How you come up with arrangements is none of my business."
He then started counting down slowly in his mind.
"Three...Two...One".
An explosion of ice and lightning erupt right outside of the building, with shards and bolts passing by him, barely missing his face.
"WHAT?!", he then heard both women bellow.
"Well, at least they weren't inside of the school. I don't think my insurance covers psychopathic mages."
Makarov's House
"Okay, be honest with me, Mak", Yoso said as he slid into the chair that was across from the guild master's own in his living room, with the fireplace between them slowly starting to warm up the place. Makarov extended the invitation for his old traveling companion to stay at his place while he conducted the successor's trials, "That Romeo kid really isn't Totomaru's pupil, is he?"
"Well, he was a student of his school, but he hasn't train him since he graduated", Makarov admitted, "What was your first clue?"
"The boy was too different from Totomaru, too independent in his personality. While the two of them have some similar qualities, I can tell that the boy has definitely his magic on his own.", Yoso states, "Juri and Evlan are basically clones of Lei and Kori and lack an identity of their own."
"If you knew that then why are allowing Totomaru to go ahead and compete for your title?", Makarov wondered.
"I have my reasons but while we're on the subject, what can you tell me about this kid?", Yoso asks, "I travel for a week with Lei and Kori before reaching Magnolia and pretty much got a good read of Juri and Evlan; so what should I know about him?"
The elderly master of the top guild in Fiore stares at his old friend for a second before taking a deep breath.
"The boy has an inferiority complex the size of Crocus and dating Wendy hasn't really helped things with her being superior to him in nearly every way, but he does love her despite all that. Anyway, as much as I hate to admit it, he is regarded as being on the lower spectrum of veterans members of the guild in terms of overall strength, barely being half as strong as some of the more powerful mages were when they were his age", Makarov began, "Basically, he is a boy trying to stand tall alongside mages who have brought down gods, dragons, empires, and who have even defied death itself."
Yoso lets out a long whistle as he took in everything his old friend just told him.
"Oh boy, and he was the best student Totomaru ever had?", he asks.
"He is smarter than he looks. Despite his age, he is just under some of the guild's smartest mages, such as Levy and Freed. He is talented too seeing how he knows at least three different brands of fire magic and no one can ever call him a coward. He has stood his ground against those very same gods, dragons, and empires that his fellow mages have taken down, despite his young age and relatively average magic level", Makarov answers.
Yoso strokes his beard for a moment, his eyes staring off into the distance as he ponders a thought in his mind.
"I see", he spoke, "It seems that this is going to be even more interesting than I planned to be."
A/N: This chapter might seem a little rush but I want to be able to jump straight to the action next time I come back to this story.
