Hank and Olivia arrived at the house after they returned from Paris. They went inside the house, put their stuff down and took their coats off.
"Hello."
"Hey."
"Mommy, Daddy!"
"Mama, Dada!"
"Gama, Papa!"
The 3 kids went up to them and gave them a big hug and then Justin, Olive, Erin and Jay hugged them as well.
"They wanted to see you."
"That's fine. We wanted to see them too."
"So, how was it?"
"Wonderful! Thank you so much for this."
"You're welcome."
"How was everything here?"
"Actually, things went well. Jay has been getting up with Nadia during the night to let me sleep."
"Justin too."
"How were the other 3?"
"No problems with the boys."
"And Alexandra?"
"Go look at your daughter's bedroom. That might answer your question."
Hank and Olivia took their stuff upstairs and then went into Lexie's room. She had scribbled on the wall with crayon. Hank and Olivia went back downstairs and sat down.
"What the hell happened?"
"She was in a mood yesterday. She didn't want a nap, which is when she did all that to her room and we all tried cleaning it up. She had it on the carpet and that came pretty clean. She threw her macaroni and cheese all over the kitchen floor along with her juice and Captain cleaned most of it up. That was the easy part to clean up. When she didn't eat, I took her upstairs for her nap and then all hell broke loose. That child is clearly a Voight. I told her 'no' for what she did and she stood there with her arms folded and glared at me."
Olivia rolled her eyes but Hank couldn't help but smirk at his youngest daughter for acting like him.
"I think part of the reason she was so pissed was because she has another tooth coming in. She did feel a little warm. After I got her ready for bed, I gave her some medicine and gel for her teeth and cuddled with her until she fell asleep. She slept through the night and she was much better today. She ate and took her nap like she was supposed to. Both Erin and I told her 'no' for what she did but she didn't want anything to do with her big sister."
"This one must really be bothering her. She's never acted like that before. Come here, Peanut."
Lexie went over to Olivia and then she put her over her shoulder. Lexie put her thumb in her mouth, while Olivia rubbed her back. Hank put his face in Lexie's and then he kissed her nose.
"I'll see what I can do about cleaning her wall a little better."
"Ok. Alexandra, we do not color on the walls or the carpeting. Got it?"
Lexie smiled at Olivia.
"Unfortunately, the terrible twos are just starting with her. I cannot imagine what the Langans are going through with two of them."
"Justin was awful in the terrible twos. I don't know how Camille dealt with him. I really don't."
"Daniel wasn't much better."
"True."
"I'm guessing Nadia won't be much better because I'm guessing I had to have been a troublemaker at the same age and Will said Jay was into everything. I even thought about calling Will and Nat to find out what the problem could be with Lexie but Justin figured it out."
"We've been through the teething thing with Daniel. You just became a mother. You handled it the way you should have. She apparently didn't like hearing it from you though. She probably wouldn't have gotten that far if Mom and Dad had been here."
"Probably not. Did she eat at all when this happened?"
"The macaroni and cheese was lunch. She had a couple spoonfuls and decided she was done. We told her she needed to eat and she got mad, so she threw it on the floor. Maybe she just didn't want the mac and cheese, so we tried a handful of goldfish crackers and Cheerios but she didn't want those either. Those ended up on the floor too. She was starting to get whiny, so we took her up for a nap but she didn't want that either. She had her teddy bear and her blankie but wouldn't settle. She screamed and cried the entire time. She managed to get out of her crib and decided to redecorate her room. We had hotdogs for dinner, so we cut one up for her. She did pretty good with that. When Justin figured out that she had another tooth coming in, he gave her a Popsicle and that really seemed to help.
"That or she likes frozen grapes too. She normally loves macaroni and cheese though but she pretty much eats it every day. Your dad and I were talking about our anniversary trip, which we want to make into another family vacation. Any ideas?"
"What have you two discussed?"
"We could go to Hawaii or Disney again. Maybe instead of Orlando, we could go to LA this time. I suggested the Bahamas, since they have water parks there and the boys might like that. We're open to other suggestions."
"We'll all think about it."
"Ok. I think I am going to give someone her bath before I put her to bed. Daddy, are you going to try to clean the wall?"
"Yeah, I'll try."
"I'll give the boys their bath if you can put her to bed."
"I'm on it. Does she need to eat?"
"You give the boys a bath and I'll put Millie to bed."
"Ok. Come on, guys."
Justin went to get Daniel's pajamas and then they went upstairs to the bathroom, while Olive went to change and feed Camille. Olivia took Lexie to her and Hank's bathroom and Hank went to clean the wall. Erin went to change and feed Nadia and Jay let Captain out. Once Captain was done, Jay let him back in and was heading upstairs when the doorbell rang. He went to open it. It was Lisa and Trevor.
"Are they back?"
"Yeah. Come on in. Olivia is in the master bathroom giving Lexie a bath and Hank is cleaning the wall in Lexie's room."
"Ah, a 15-month old having a temper tantrum. We have two of those. What did she do?"
"She scribbled all over the wall."
"Ours trashed their room and blamed the dog."
"It turned out that Lexie wasn't feeling well, so that was why she was so pissed. She also threw her bowl of mac and cheese and her juice onto the floor."
"Oh, geez!"
"I'm going to go up and see Olivia."
Lisa went upstairs to Hank and Olivia's room and knocked on the bathroom door.
"Come on in."
"It's only me. I heard about Lexie."
"Justin figured she was getting another tooth in."
"We haven't quite figured out what Charli and Becca's problem is but they decided to trash their room and blamed Sarge for it."
"Nice. Apparently someone has mastered the folded arms and glare that her daddy is so famous for."
"Are you surprised?"
"No, not really. We ran into Rafael and Michelle in Paris."
"That was a surprise, I bet."
"It was. I'm glad we did though. Hank said he figured it would have been Ed and Maggie."
"Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me at all."
"We did get to see the pictures of Kevin and Melissa all dressed up for the Valentine's dance at his school."
"Aunt Maggie did send those."
"How are things going for your sister?"
"So far so good."
Lisa showed Olivia the pictures of each of the boys with their new sister.
"That's cute. Who do you think she looks like?"
"Actually, she looks just like Em did when she was born."
"She's a cutie."
"We think so too. I'm glad I'm not the only one with daughters in the family now."
"I bet. How was your Valentine's Day?"
"It was great. We went to the Signature Room for dinner on Friday night and he got us a room at one of the nearby hotels Friday night and Saturday night, which we really needed."
"What else is going on?"
"PJ and Stephanie got married."
"You're kidding."
"Nope. They went City Hall early on Valentine's Day to get married and then they went to Hawaii for their honeymoon, so she's off this week. They'll be back on Sunday."
"Do your aunt and uncle know?"
"They do. Her family was there and he had his parents and sisters there. They just decided they didn't want to wait."
"They weren't even engaged all that long."
"New Year's Eve. I'm thrilled. I hold the record for the shortest engagement in my family, a week. The only family that wasn't around was Aunt Maggie and Uncle Ed but they know about it. We're working on a party for them. We were all over at Sarah and Greg's after PJ and Steph left for Hawaii and we're all figuring she's either pregnant now or she'll come back from their honeymoon pregnant. My aunt is hoping for a granddaughter and of course my uncle is hoping for Paul Joseph Campbell III. My aunt's response to that was they should be allowed to name their kids whatever they want to. If they have a son, I could see them naming him after her real dad and Kevin. I think her dad was Michael just like her brother."
"What was your grandpa's name?"
"Charles and Gram was Elizabeth, which is Sarah's middle name. Emily's too. Maggie gave Kevin the middle name of Charles. Sarah and Greg named Ben after Greg's dad and our grandpa. Rebecca and Andrew were my dad's parents."
"I guess we'll see what happens when they come back."
"Yep."
"Did they already move in together?"
"Not yet but she will be nearby though once she does, since PJ lives pretty close to us."
"I guess I can't say anything about you and Stephanie working together and being cousins-in-law when I work with Erin."
Olivia finished up with Lexie and dried her off. She took her into her and Hank's bedroom and set her down on the bed. She put a diaper on her and then got her ready for bed as she and Lisa continued talking. Then Hank came in with Jay.
"Jay told me that your idiot ex-partner kept running his mouth in jail and got beaten and stabbed."
"When did this happen?"
"A few days ago."
"How bad?"
"Let's just say, we had to investigate it and he won't be bothering you anymore."
"They killed him?"
"Yep."
"Wow! Not that I'm really that surprised but did you get the ones that did it?"
"Apparently the person that did it isn't sorry he did it."
They heard the doorbell, so Hank finished getting Lexie ready for bed and Olivia went down to answer the door. It was Kathy, Maureen, Kathleen, Dickie and Lizzie.
"I just heard. I am so sorry."
"Don't be. We're sorry he did what he did to you."
"Does Bernadette know?"
"Right after Liz called me, I went to see her and told her in person. Jenna went with me and stayed with her when I came out here. She's in shock but she knows he has crossed the line many times over the years. I had told her what he did this last time and she said that he needed to be a man and let you be happy."
Hank, Justin, Jay, Trevor and Lisa came down. Hank had Lexie.
"I am so sorry for your loss."
"Like we told Olivia, don't be."
Hank handed Lexie to Olivia and went to get her bottle and then came back, so Olivia could give her her bottle.
"How are Eli and Olivia?"
"Eli seems to be ok but Olivia isn't really comprehending any of this yet. Eli is more open about his feelings than his father ever was. He's just like Dickie. He and Elliot weren't really getting along much lately anyway. I told him it's ok to be upset because he lost his dad. In a way, we all are but he brought a lot of this on himself."
"Did they come with you?"
"They did not. They're with our neighbor, who we're really good friends with. Her son is Eli's best friend. Eli hates missing school. We haven't really decided what we're doing yet anyway."
"Did all your families come with you?"
"No."
"Jenna wanted to but with Lieutenant Barba gone, she didn't have much of a choice."
"We ran into Michelle and Rafael in Paris and we were actually at the same hotel, so we spent a lot of time together. What was Edward's reaction to this?"
"I know what he's thinking and I honestly don't blame him for thinking it but he's actually been very respectful about it. Lately he's been more of a father to me than my own father was. He got 3 tickets for the Rangers the other night. He was obviously planning to take Kevin and Paul but Paul couldn't go because he was out here, so he asked me if I wanted to go if I wasn't working. Dad never did that. Ever. He was never the world's best father."
"That's for sure. He was never home. We know they were close to divorcing but then Eli was on the way, so they stayed together. We could never figure that out but then we wouldn't have our baby sister either. None of us were perfect but it always seemed like whatever path Dickie took was never good enough for him. He wasn't happy with you being with Jenna because HE didn't along with her dad. It's not about him. It's about you. You're happiness should be all that matters. You married Jenna, who already had kids and you loved them like they were your own. You're a better dad to Josh and Jordan than Dad ever was to any of us except maybe Olivia. It was quite obvious how much he favored her. He never took any of us on vacations by ourselves because he was always working. His job was more important but he was still never there even after he retired. Mom may have named her but I think Dad favored her because she was named after the person he had become so obsessed with."
"He made the comment that him and his Olivias, once he got custody of her, could live wherever I wanted. I want to be here in Chicago with Hank and I wouldn't go anywhere with Elliot if he was the only man on earth. I am so unbelievably happy with Hank. I knew Hank wasn't going to let him get away with what he did to me this last time. Hank is incredibly protective of his family."
"I don't doubt that. Elliot was never going to get custody of her unless something happened to me. Eli said he would much rather live with one of his siblings than his father. I started seeing someone around Christmas, so I don't know if his recent behavior was because of that."
"Mom, Dad couldn't make up his mind about what he wanted. We all want you to be happy and as long as Jack is good to you, Eli and Olivia, we're fine with that. Does Eli like him?"
"He seems to. Jack takes him to the batting cages all the time, so that makes him happy. Jack has tried to spend time with Olivia but Elliot told him to stay the hell away from his daughter. He said nothing about him spending time with Eli. Whenever he wanted his dad to take him, he conveniently never had time but he always had time to take Olivia to the zoo or wherever she wanted to go for their daddy-daughter vacation."
"Whatever was wrong with Dad was no little thing."
"You're right about that. I just think Olivia is going to start acting up more now that she doesn't have Daddy anymore. I think he spoiled her too much."
"We'll all be there as much as we can for her."
"If we can both get a few days off, maybe we'll bring the boys out there for a long weekend. Like Friday to Monday or something."
"Kevin's mom told me to take as much time to be with my family as I need to."
"Let me ask this, who told you what had happened?"
"Kyle."
"Antonio and I went to talk to Alex to see how things were going to be handled since the guy was already convicted on drug charges and for illegal possession of a weapon but hadn't been transported yet. Casey was there and so was Kyle. Kyle said he would be the one that would tell her because she was his sister-in-law. I didn't say anything to you until you got back because I didn't want to ruin your trip. We knew when we talked to you the other night though but we agreed not to say anything."
"We appreciate that. Thank you. I take it Fin knows?"
"Jenna said she would let him know."
"The guy that did it admitted to it?"
"Oh, yeah. He said he wasn't sorry he didn't because Stabler was acting like an asshole and running his mouth. He claims he got what he deserved. He pled guilty and was sentenced to life by the Judge. He has already been transported a higher security prison to serve his sentence."
"What was he running his mouth about?"
"That he would somehow get out of there and get the woman he loves away from her asshole cop husband. This gets even better. When the guy found out who he was talking about, that pissed him off. He's one of your former CI's and he claims he owed you a favor. As soon as Antonio saw him, he knew who he was."
Jay told Hank who it was.
"This better not come back to me though because I did not ask him to do this. I swear to you on my own life that I knew nothing about this."
"I believe you. What did you do for him that he owed you a favor?"
"All I did was convince the State's Attorney's office to get these minor charges of his dropped when he told us some crucial information on a suspect we were looking for. This was right after I started running Intelligence. I haven't seen him since then. Why do I feel like this is going to come back and bite me in the ass?"
"Hank, if you had, none of us would blame you. You were just protecting Olivia. Elliot hasn't been in the right frame of mind for a while, so he obviously provoked the guy enough to piss him off."
"She's right."
The doorbell rang again, so Justin went to get it. It was Antonio, Casey, Kyle, Alex and Kevin.
"Hey, Justin."
"Hey. Come on in."
"Thanks."
Everyone took their coats off and went into the living room where everyone else was. Kevin hugged all of his in-laws before sitting down next to Lizzie and kissing her, while Alex and Casey hugged Olivia before they all sat down.
"You ok, Liv?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"How was Paris?"
"Wonderful. Hank, can you take her up and put her to bed?"
"Yeah."
"Thank you."
"Sure. I'll check on the boys too."
"They were watching a movie when we came down."
"I'm guessing they're asleep by now."
Olivia kissed Lexie and then Hank took her upstairs to put her to bed.
"Hey, Babe. How was your shift?"
"It was just a long day. I definitely need a vacation."
"My dad really appreciates all of his nursing staff."
"I have no problems with the surgeons at all but we're short-staffed right now because they went away for Valentine's Day, illnesses or whatever. I definitely should be home with Liz more than I am especially right now."
"You're mom has been great. Isn't she planning to go be with Kelly when she has the baby?"
"I'm sure she will."
"She told me to take as much time as I need to be with my family. Sometimes I thought Dad figured I could have done better because Kevin is a nurse and not a doctor."
"He works in the OR at one of the best hospitals in Chicago, so who cares if he's a nurse? I'm a cop like he was and that was never good enough for him. On top of that, he criticized me for marrying a Tucker. I'm glad the bastard is dead because I was getting so tired of trying to prove myself to him and have him treat me like shit. He never gave a shit about me."
"I never cared what anyone thought about me wanting to be a nurse. Yeah, I could have gone to Med School but we don't need any more debt."
"Mom and Dad would have been proud of us no matter what we did."
"Where does your sister live?"
"Milwaukee."
"Is this her first?"
"Yeah. She got married 6 weeks after Liz gave birth to Molly."
"Ok."
Hank had come back downstairs and sat down by Olivia.
"They boys are both out. Erin is sound asleep and had Nadia in her arms. I put her in her bassinette."
"Thanks."
"Kyle and I have news."
"Antonio and I do too."
