I don't own the Tudors.

Chapter 4

October 1529

Cardinal Wolsey is the main story of everyone.

He had finally failed to appease and done with the question of the legitimacy of King Henry's marriage to his brother's widow.

Beatriz believed that Wolsey was getting too comfortable about his position and said he had taken bribes from the Frenchmen.

Anne may be France's royal family's favorite and illustrious woman who she claims is French now.

In fact, it was his fault that Queen Margaret Tudor's difficult positions almost caused her crown and her sons.

Beatriz had mocked him back in Scotland as the other King of England which all the Scots nobles laughed and agreed with her statement of Wolsey.

'I heard he wished to ask Catherine Aragon for help in coming back to the king's favor.'

Really how shameless he is.

Everyone knows that Wolsey and Queen Catherine are enemies since they fought for the attention and favoritism of the King's love.

Beatriz knows that with Wolsey losing power in favor of Anne, it is up to the power-grabbing courtiers to throw their luck with the Boleyns.

Windsor Castle, September 1530

The court is divided.

Or instead, everyone is against Anne and the Boleyns.

Now Anne is moving up to their rumors that she is the cause of the King's displeasure of his legitimate wife's honor.

Beatriz fears that Anne is reaching too high. Why? Oh, why would Anne mistreat the Queen like this?

As Anne Boleyn and her ladies entered, the corridor fell silent. All eyes fixed on the King of England's mistress. When Anne entered, Chapuys and Beatriz's brother, George Boleyn, were chatting in the corner of the hall. Fearing the King's wrath, all courtiers bowed to Anne rather forcefully than respectfully.

She couldn't believe her sister sometimes!

'Anne just had to wear the royal purple as if she is royalty.' Beatriz thought as she stood by her fellow ladies-in-waiting. The ladies of Catherine approved Beatriz's decision of staying true to their Queen. Many even said that if her family ever disowned her, they would try to lend her a hand to get her by. Beatriz knows her position since she is still Catherine's favorite and bowed only to Catherine of Aragon.

She refused to speak to any of her family in favor of her mistress Catherine.

George and Mary's pleading to their family gives Beatriz time to accept Anne becoming Queen.

"What is it? What has she done?" Chapuys questioned, wondering why such a scene was evolving in front of them.

"She is wearing purple. And purple is the color of royalty," George responds, his tone serious.

Anne comes to a halt in front of Katherine of Aragon's ladies, her purple gown and purple jewels gleaming in the sun streaming through the paned window. She gave them a superior look that demanded their attention.

"You know, I sometimes wish that all Spaniards were at the bottom of the sea."

Beatriz looked at her sister in disappointment. It's not so horrible if you became a king's mistress but must her sister disrespect her majesty foreign country and her people like this.

"Mistress Boleyn," the head lady-in-waiting says with loathing, "you should not abuse the queen's honor with such language." The word "honor" was emphasized, hinting that the lady believed Anne had sexual contact with the King. Subsequently, the Queen was more honorable as the King's wife.

"I care nothing for Catherine. I would rather see her hanged than acknowledge her as my mistress," Anne exclaims with an edge of contempt. An outrage begins at her vulgar language, and she exits through the archway.

'That's it, Anne.' She had enough of her arrogance.

"My dear sister," Beatriz called out to Anne. Everyone watches from afar, and everyone knows that she is the only Boleyn girl against her family decision over Catherine's marriage annulment.

"You said to me, 'I will love and honor the king as well others who love and honor him in return.' Does that not include Queen Catherine who showed love and honor to the King?" She gave an innocent, confused look that fooled others easily.

Many of them whispered that words she spoke of, and few nodded their heads in agreement.

"Remind yourself, sister. If you disrespect the Queen's honor and love for the King, you are also disrespecting the King's honor and love for those closest to him. And since such a great man holds you in high esteem, I would hope my lady sister whom he chooses to spend his time with would not disgrace that honor so freely."

The ladies-in-waiting hold back a smile and laughter. George Boleyn looked torn on whose side he should be on.

Chapuys is intrigued by young mistress Boleyn standing by the Queen's side of her legitimate marriage to the King.

Anne holds back her contempt as she is humiliated by her little sister. Beatriz curtsy and said, "Madam."

Other ladies follow her example as it is a victory for them and Queen Catherine of putting the concubine in her place.

Beatriz left the hall, and ladies followed after her. To do her daily prayers.

Anne glares at their backs but makes no move to stop them.

Instead, she watches as the courtiers begin gossiping, looking at her with looks of shock on their faces.

Not letting herself be present for such humiliation, she quickly storms off. It didn't matter, though. This event had done the damage, and her sister had put the King's mistress in her place.

North Yorkshire December 1531

Beatriz Boleyn remains in a quiet place of the chapel or instead with the covenant the nuns who are still loyal to Queen Catherine.

They had been kind to her. She hadn't returned to her family since she put her sister in her place.

They thought if she were in any poor situation, she would come begging them, and she will not. It reminded her of when Queen Margaret was locked down in the basement with Lord Angus and herself and the children.

Jesus said that the bread came from heaven, so they made bread and wine to survive those terrible nights.

Henry VIII wished to make an annulment to his wife of 23 years. No doubt everyone is hearing this in all of Europe.

Queen Catherine's mistress decided to send her favorite to be protected with the nuns.

Beatriz learns to be pious and patient until God or Queen Catherine brings her back to court. Beatriz sold out her gowns to pay for their kindness.

She weaved her linens and ate only water and bread to fill her body.

'I wonder if this is how the King's mother, lady Margaret Beaufort meant to be like this,' Beatriz thought when she threaded more of linens. She admired Lady Margaret Beaufort, who placed her son, Henry VII, on the English Throne and won the kingdom.

Beatriz wished to follow her example.

She should give herself to God and wait for a sign when it is the time to help her country.

Lately, she barely received letters from princess Mary, the Queen, and George and her sister Mary.

Two letters from princess Mary and Queen Catherine wished to have a Happy Christmas and loved the linens she presented as a gift.

She received their gift.

Queen Catherine made something to cover her hair and head stated it was similar to her mother, Queen Isabella of Castile, to preserve her modesty and piousness.

Princess Mary gave her a simple bracelet made of colorful yarn threads.

The other letter from her siblings is pleading and begging her to return home.

'I will not return home.'

Beatriz knew that if she did. They will take her life and freedom from her.

If not for her father, then her uncle would make sure she would be under his thumb or, worse, give her hand to some high-ranking noblemen, not caring if her new husband would beat her or dishonor her.

"My lady," The Sister nun called to her.

She turned and knew it was time for a Christmas mass for devoted Christians.

"Would you help with this?" Beatriz showed the sister such a beautiful cap for her hair and head. "

I wished to learn more about being modesty and pious as the Queen suggested I should follow her mother's example."

The sister nodded and helped her.

Beatriz only kept two items in her positions: the tartan Earasaid gifted by Queen Margaret and the deceased King James and the stag broach that she kept from the Queen.

Beatriz kneeled, and many sisters noticed that she received a gift that made her more pious and modesty.

'Lady Margaret Beaufort's motto is humble and penitent. Queen Elizabeth of York's motto is Hidden and patient. Queen Isabella of Castile is Modesty and pious. Mine will be…."

"Endure and Wisdom that will be my motto." Beatriz proclaimed herself that her youth days were over. Now it is time to grow.

July 1532, Parliament Westminster

"All rise for the king." King Henry walks through the entrance into the main hall of Westminster. The decision is to be announced regarding the King as supreme head of the Church. All clergymen and courtiers bow to him as he makes his way to his throne in the middle of the room. He stands in front of his throne, but not before looking at More and Bishop Fisher. "Parliament is in session." The King and all other men in the room take their seats.

Henry looks every bit the King he is as he speaks from his throne, but his lust for power is evident. "My Lords, your Graces, have you come to a decision? Do you still deny me? Or do you accept the authority of your King?" His voice is filled with authority as his voice echoes through the abbey. More and Fisher cannot bear to look at anyone or anything. Thomas and George Boleyn sit in an alcove of the abbey, waiting desperately for a response. Power is too near to let it slip through their fingers.

Many bowing as he passes, a bishop makes his way to the King. The archbishop of Canterbury is an older man who is too tired to resist the King's will. "Your Majesty." Canterbury kneels in submission, coughing as he does so. He is sick, and he knows his time is nearing. Before the King, he places a document of submission. "Here is the submission of the clergy to Your Majesty's will." His voice sounds defeated, but the King does not notice. He is overcome with victory.

"There," the elder Boleyn says. All is finished. The Boleyns are now on top of the world and most favored by the King. "They've surrendered, and the Church is broken," he speaks in satisfaction.

"I never thought I would live to see this day in England," Bishop Fisher says mournfully.

"Now, by act of Parliament, heretics are free to swan around the streets of London without check," More adds. His voice is filled with disgust.

"If I could weep, Sir Thomas, I would weep tears of blood." Both men turn their eyes towards the King. The Church is broken, and if they dared step out of line, the King would surely kill them.

Thomas More wonders who could convince King Henry to break away from Anne's Boleyn spell.

Bishop Fisher mourned and said, "I do hope that they would be like the youngest Boleyn girl. She wouldn't be asked his majesty to do this to the Queen and country."

Thomas turned and said, "The youngest Boleyn girl?"

"Haven't you heard?"

Thomas shakes his head.

Back in his humble home, he was lost in thought.

"Her name is Lady Beatriz Boleyn, the youngest Boleyn girl. She was the only one to advise and against Anne Boleyn's decisions to replace Queen Catherine. Last time I heard, she hadn't contacted her family for almost four years, and I heard that she kept her own money and treasure for dowry away from both Boleyn's and Duke of Norfolk's hands. Clever that girl is. Right now, I heard that Queen Catherine sent her to the North Yorkshire with the convent, and the nuns are protecting her."

Thomas More is intrigued by the youngest Boleyn girl. In fact, all in court are wondering what has happened to her.

She may not be in court for some time, but many are more intrigued and wonder every day for the young lady.

'Perhaps, she can help the cause.'

September 1532, Middleham Castle

The Lady Anne had just been made Marquess of Pembroke, a traditional male title now given to a king's woman.

Thomas Cromwell is making his way to the world.

Ever since Thomas More had resigned himself as Lord Chancellor. Now that positions belong to him.

No doubt the Boleyns are prominent power supporters since Anne will now be Queen, and this title must secure her positions.

Thomas had to keep his newfound allies with Boleyn's, so he was to meet the Boleyn's and Duke of Norfolk private meeting in the wolf Hall.

He meets Thomas Boleyn, 1st Earl of Wiltshire, Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, Mary Boleyn, George Boleyn, Viscount Rochford, and his new wife, Jane Boleyn Viscountess Rochford née Jane Parker.

Thomas is not sure what to make this, but he must be in their good graces for now.

"Mr. Cremuel." She spoke in as his last name is French.

Thomas bowed and replied, "Lady Anne."

"I hear you can easily be good at your job with the law and the people, correct?" Anne's nonsense tone as if he had no say in this.

"Yes, I believe so. My Lady."

"Then I must insist that you bring my youngest sister home and be our family again." Anne began, which surprised Thomas. Anne continues, "Tell her, if not for me, then for our lady mother since lady mother couldn't take any more stress or sleep without knowing when she will come home."

Mary protested, "Anne, you force guilt onto her like that!"

"She needs to stop being a child and accept that things have changed. Catherine is old, and this country needs an heir for the King." Anne argued which Duke of Norfolk agreed with Anne.

"The entire court knows that our family is not whole, and we need more allies for Anne." Duke of Norfolk said.

"She won't go quietly." Lady Jane answered.

"She will if she knows this for the good of our family." Thomas Boleyn said so himself.

"Her name, my lady?" Thomas questioned which Anne replied, "Beatriz Boleyn and Catherine knew where she sends my sister. No doubt held her captive."

Thomas Cromwell remembers that youngest Boleyn girl. The same one who apologized and treated him as if they were equals.

She did help him, and he was supposed to help her in return.

September 1532, Kimbolton Castle

Thomas went to visit Queen or be former Queen of England and tried to convince her to help him find Lady Beatriz.

"Mr. Cromwell," Queen Catherine looked strong and stern though she didn't seem like she had suffered any actual damages.

She only had the suffering of losing her marriage, love, and position as the Queen.

"Madam." Thomas started his reason. How the Boleyns are trying to get Beatriz back to court, her favorite in position situation, and worst comes to worst. She could end up slandered if she didn't accept Anne as Queen.

"Lady Beatriz won't betray me. She is like a daughter I wished to have for Mary." Her Spanish blood made her stubborn and strong.

"Madam, I know that even for your love and her love for you. You must understand that she can't survive and be unprotected forever. The least you could do is send her your letter and command her to do this. Chances are she could be lady-in-waiting for lady Anne and your daughter, and they might put princess Mary under the same household." Thomas tried to amend her case.

Catherine knows this.

At least her daughter would be protected and allied with at least one Boleyn girl.

She can't do this to her favorite.

Lady Beatriz must live and be a servant to her country and God.

"Then tell his majesty, I should be the one to decide based on the list he provided of choosing Lady Beatriz as a husband and remained in court should it pleases him."

That is her final offer.

Thomas then replies to Lady Anne and King Henry about her last offer for the youngest Boleyn positions.

Lady Anne looked like a cat who caught the canary. Thomas hidden displeasure at Lady Anne's smug look.

'It was her plan from the start. It wasn't about bringing back the Boleyn or even caring about her sister, and it was to put a final stake into the Queen's heart.' Thomas is amazed and conniving that the Marquess of Pembroke displayed.

"I know that is she, and the lady Beatriz is at the age should have married by now. I will provide her a list, and the dowager princess Catherine will decide the marriage." King Henry smiled as he believed that he had won.

Marriage would help the Boleyns improve their positions.

Queen Catherine looked at the list of men, and Thomas Cromwell will deliver the news.

'Edward Seymour, Thomas Seymour, Henry Norris, William Howard' Thomas irritably thought seriously.

Catherine looked around as she disliked the names of them. Many of them are upstarts, and they won't appreciate Beatriz.

William Howard- cousin of Mary, George, Anne, and Beatriz- didn't bother to consider those candidates.

Edward Seymour, Thomas Seymour- two very ambitious young men and Seymours. They were well known as rivals to both the Boleyns and the Howards, but those two were too ruthless, too greedy for power.

Henry Norris- the oldest of them, not too avid for power. He won't do since that would mean she had been sentenced to marry a fool.

Catherine peeks at her side and sees Thomas Cromwell seems to agree with her privately if she reads him correctly.

She remembers correctly about Thomas Cromwell's private life.

Cromwell's wife died early in 1529, and his daughters, Anne and Grace, are believed to have died not long after their mother. Their death may have been due to sweating sickness.

Perhaps, Lady Beatriz is better off with Thomas Cromwell than anyone else.

"Mr. Cromwell," Queen Catherine had privately written off the name she has chosen and said, "I had made my decisions and did not worry I will personally write a name for the man I had chosen. I will also write a letter to Lady Beatriz Boleyn myself."

She paused Mr. Cromwell from reading the name of her choice. "I would suggest allowing the King's eyes alone, and you must be assisted that I was the one who decided on it."

Thomas was puzzled but put the note inside the suitcase.

Quickly rode his horse to reach the King.

"So, what news do you bring?" he asked impatiently.

Thomas cleared his throat, a little frightened of the King's possible reaction. "My lord, the Queen has made her choice."

'I have a bad feeling about this.' His heart is pounding hard against his chest.

"And? Who did she choose?" Thomas reaches for the note sealed but the Queen herself and says, "She said, "This belongs to the King's eyes alone, and I wasn't allowed to see it. She insisted that she alone was the one who decided her choosing."

"Give it to me." The King is impatient, and no doubt wishes to indulge the Queen's games.

The note is opened, and all of a sudden…

CRASH!

The King yelled and shouted for all those who could hear him.

"AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!"

The King busted out of the door and shouted, "Damn her! How dare she mock me?! The King!"

The courtiers gave a wide berth for the King to walk past them.

Thomas stood shocked, and curiosity got the best of him.

'What on earth did she write for the marriage of Lady Boleyn?'

"Cromwell!" Thomas quickly hurried after the King.

"Come with me." His tone is saying no room for argument.

He nodded quickly and followed the King.

"What are you trying to achieve, My Lady?" King Henry entered the Queen's chambers, furious "How dare you to mock me?"

"Welcome, husband" Queen Catherine, pretending to be surprised by his sudden appearance, met him halfway, not showing her fear. " What brings you here so upset?"

"You dare to ask?" Harry shouted, enraged by her calm demeanor." I'm showing you my goodwill and kindness in letting you choose Lady Boleyn's husband, and you decide to throw it in my face!"

It feels awkward watching two royals' arguments. Thomas isn't sure what is going on here?

"Dear husband, I don't understand. I'm deeply grateful for your kindness, and I made my choice following your wishes." Catherine stood her ground.

"Yes, list of noblemen to loyalty and wealth. Why? Why is Thomas Cromwell the name you had chosen!? His name wasn't even on the list I gave you!" Harry noticed with fury.

"No, I admit, you didn't put the Mr. Cromwell name on your list," Catherine confirmed in the sweetest tone she could muster. "However, he meets all the conditions you made, and I'm convinced that he will be a perfect husband for our daughter."

"And what do you say about this, Mr. Cromwell?" After remembering that they weren't alone, King Henry turned to his friend. "Are you willing to marry her?"

This was it. The moment when he had to make his decision. The King looked at him impatiently, the Queen imploringly.

This could make it easy for him to climb up social and perhaps more.

"Your Majesty, it would be both my honor and a great privilege to marry the Lady Boleyn." He answered with an official tone.

Catherine breathed a sigh of relief, and he didn't delude her. Hesitantly, they both looked at the King, waiting for his reaction.

Henry stood in silence for a moment. That was unexpected.

However, Cromwell had served him well and perhaps kept the Lady Boleyn closer in court since they would practically live here.

"Congratulations, my friend! You've just got yourself a wife!" he declared with a beam of a smile.

In court, the news came that Queen Catherine chose Thomas Cromwell as Lady Beatriz Boleyn, which didn't seem to please the Boleyn's and Howards families.

Beatriz, however, read the last letter to the Queen that she had chosen a husband for her and commands her to serve God and the country by swiftly saving the King from himself.

"Endure and Wisdom. That has not changed my mind."

She will bid as her mistress ordered her to do.
