And a little extra something something for Christmas. ;-)
Epilogue
One Year Later
Mac was lovely, a silver dress wrapped around her body perfectly as she teetered on impossibly high heels. Her hair was shorter now, an elegant bob with bangs and highlights that gave her a youthful look.
Harm had come wearing a full suit, far to over dressed for Christmas Eve at Bud and Harriet's, but she didn't question it. He looked so handsome, the accents on his tie and lapels matched her dress, that he picked out a month earlier.
They were happy, happier than they've ever been despite having yet married. It never seemed to be the right time, or place or venue and so they'd given up, placed it on hold until the World evened out.
The party was small, smaller than others, just a few close friends and after dinner, Mac saw her fiance had slipped out and was standing watching the snow cascade over the cars outside. "Guess we're getting a white Christmas." She said.
Mac walked up to him, the palm of her hand running along his back and hooking around his waist. She leaned into him, head resting on his shoulder while her eyes looked up at the chiming bell. There was the mistletoe again, moving in the light breeze, tied with a red ribbon.
She pointed up at the sprig and smiled when Harm's lips came down to hers for the softest of kisses. She knew the bench was still in the same corner and pulled him towards it only to be stopped from pushing him down and kissing him senseless. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I just want to show you something." Harm's eyes twinkled although he was clearly nervous when his arm draped across her shoulders and he led her around the back.
A white tent had been set up with soft glowing white lights draped inside. There were chairs, each one taken by guests of the Robert's party but more surprising was the couple in the front. Harm's parents that stood and waved.
A simple arch dotted with white roses had been erected at the far end, beneath it the Chaplain waited holding a bible. "I believe you owe me a walk down the aisle, Mac."
She turned to find AJ Chegwidden offering her the crook of his arm, waiting expectantly for the bride to comply. What she did was look up at Harm who smirked so mischievously, it made his eyes glow with mirth. "Please don't kill me. I got tired of waiting."
"I got tired of hoping. Oh, Harm." Mac threw herself at him, her arms wrapping around his torso in a fierce hug. "I love you. I love you so much."
"I love you too. You ready to marry me?"
"Yes! Get up there, flyboy." She motioned to the front and after a quick kiss, Harm took his position facing the Chaplain while he took a breath.
An instrumental wedding march played over a speaker and Harm held his breath, turning only when Mac was halfway down the small aisle. She was beautiful, always had been and the dress he'd bought her was both elegant and sexy.
AJ placed her hand in Harm's and then clasped his above theirs. "Damn time, oorah."
That Christmas Eve, in an intimate setting with close family and friends, Harm and Mac were finally married.
Merry Christmas!
