The sunrise was quite painful. The sun lashed at her eyes, but the clouds offered a blanket of orange and pink. Her eyes ran along the horizon from where the sun had came from. She searched it long and hard, but found nothing. It was the same horizon she had looked upon for the past fourteen years.
Fourteen years since that day.
She chuckled to herself. The span of time she had wasted, only made her laugh more. Being twenty- five and still thinking of a fairy tale that would never be.
A sigh escaped her lips and she raised her finger into the air. She traced her finger along the clouds and craved to be as they were.
Light. Ever-changing. In motion.
Compared to that she was the opposite.
Heavy. Stagnant. Stuck.
As she continued the light hit her face, revealing a scar that ran from her cheek through her neck, down to her chest. The crash she was in last year left her with gashes from her head to toes. The shattered glass had wrenched into her skin from the windshield. She accepted these scars. They told a story that would become longer over time. Time would continue to be the thing that plagued her though. It would pass her by, leave her to get old and wither. Then as she came into the world, it would swoop her out of it.
How long did they live though?
Did those spirits ever cease to exist? Did they fear fading away and being forgotten? Does their time ever run out? Does he fear his well being? Does her thrive only for himself? Does he miss the time when she was there? What is his purpose in life?
"You."
