Chapter 1: Adrift
Unknown POV:
I had begun to lose track of how many days it had been since I had lost sight of them. I had lost track of seeing anyone besides a few Decepticons and Autobots over the cycles. Time was even more of an illusion while going from various solar systems. It had been eons or longer since the Decepticons and Autobots had fled our once flourishing planet that was murdered by the war. Time was even more of an illusion when I was in his grasp and until I managed to escape.
I was lost in my thoughts as I felt someone come and touch my shoulder. I jumped and glanced over and saw a white and dark gray mech standing behind me. "Sorry to scare ya," he said as he handed me a small energon cube. I simply rolled my optics and took a sip from one of the corners. "You seem a little off since I found ya and after that simple battle with a rag tag group of cons," he said in his gruff voice as he sat down at the steering controls again and took the steering controls back into his grasp.
"I don't want to talk about it," my voice shook slightly as I reached to my side and released a small sigh. I rubbed the area between my optics before handing him the energon cube not wanting to refuel as past memories came back to my helm. "I am going to rest Wheeljack, I am not feeling the best," I said as I got up and walked towards the back of the ship and climbed up into the top bunk bed. I coughed a little and groaned as my body grew warm slightly and pain moved through my system. I had not been feeling well since me and Wheeljack dealt with some mediocre Decepticons. Decepticons that looked so similar to his guards. He saved my aft from them and planned on taking me to this Autobot outpost with Bulkhead and some other random bots since he wouldn't be able to check me out as their medic would.
I closed my optics and started to drift into recharge…
"Come on, stop bleeding," I pleaded as I held a gaping wound shut on the abdomen of my partner. "Please," I beg as some sparks could also be seen from other cords that had been sliced in the battle to get some much needed supplies. She groaned as her bright blue optics flickered. I tried to hold the wound with one hand and transformed my other hand to my torch and began to quickly seal the wound until we got back to the base. She screeched in pain and pushed my hand away. "For Primus's sake, I need to close your wound, Firestorm if you are going to be able to see your sparkmate or child again," I said angrily as I looked at her. Her scarlet red armor is covered with her own energon.
I take my medical pack off quickly and grab a small bar of metal and place it into her mouth before attaching it back to my back. She spits it out and it rolls away. "No, leave me, they are getting closer and will find us. Take the medicine and go see if you can treat the infected with the other medics," she whispered. Her optics flickered more as she grabbed my hand. "Please Pax, leave me," she begs. Tears sting my optics as I stare at her. "Go protect the others like you always do," she cracks a small smile before coughing up energon.
"No, I am not leaving you out here. I am not leaving you to die because of a mistake I made," I scream as my voice cracks as tears form in my optics. "I am not leaving another of us to die!" I scream and look around as explosions happen around us. I see Decepticons heading towards the both of us and murdering other soldiers along the way. "Frag," I curse and I lean down and pick her up bridal style. She was slightly taller than me and I took off running as they began shooting at me. Firestorm was screaming at me to stop but I just kept running. Adrenaline taking over more with each step.
After what seemed like forever, I made it to a bridge that the Decepticons had destroyed. An Autobot safe haven was right there, right there on the other side of the casam. Firestorm's optics were fading more and more as energon drifted down both of our bodies. "Stay awake, we are almost there," I say out of breath from running. My legs are shaking as I go towards the edge of the bridge and glance behind me and see Vehicon flyers were heading towards us.
I take a few steps backward and place her on my back over my medical pack. I extend one of my side blades on one of my forearms. "Hold onto me," I whisper to her before I start sprinting towards the edge. I jump and swing my body and hold her best I can as I slam my blade into the edge of the other bridge. I reach behind me and slowly shift Firestorm to be against my chest as I hold her close to me. "Stay awake," I whisper as she loses more and more energon. Her optics flicker more and more as she looks into mine. My arm shakes as it holds both of our weights. Flyers circle back around and begin shooting at us. I swing around and have their strikes hit my back. I groan in pain and hold Firestorm closer to me.
"Pax, we both are not going to make it," she whispers as I look at her. "Pax please save yourself, it is very unlikely that you and all of the other medics are going to be able to treat such severe abdominal wounds with circuits damaged as well as give me enough transfusions to get me even somewhat stable," she mumbles. I shake my helm and try to hoist us both up but my blade slips with my movements. I look around frantically and feel more blaster shots hit my back. I scream and my grip on Firestorm shifts and she slides down more. "Pax, protect my son, keep your helm up.." she says as she looks at me as tears go down her cheeks. Her grip loosens on me and I grab her more and groan as my strength becomes weaker. "Pax…I lo.." she trails off and goes to say something important but the vehicon flyers come back around and hit us with multiple missiles, my grip loosens and Firestorm releases me.
"FIRESTORM!" I scream at the top of my frame as she falls. "FIRESTORM!" I scream again as she hits the surface of the pit below. I see her optics flicker a few times before they go out. "No...no!" I scream and tears come down my cheeks. My side blade slips more and more and I reach up and stab my other one in before I manage to pull myself up. I retract my blades and am on my hands and knees. I tore my medical pack off of my back and threw it as far as I could. Tears come streaming down my cheeks before I scream into the sky. I look down at my As I screamed Autobots came near me, someone came closer and knelt down in front of me before helping me stand and leading me towards the base. I could barely walk a few steps without collapsing.
Wheeljack POV
I sat at the helm of my ship but let autopilot take me back to Prime's base. I had found Pax adrift in a pod all banged up and clearly been through the pits and back. I knew Doc would help treat her since he was the best medic I knew next to her. Pax and I met a few times on Cybertron, she was a simple triage medic during the war. I got up and climbed up the ladder up to the bunk she was laying in and laid my hand on her helm. She was getting warmer and mumbling more in her recharge.
"Firestorm….no...I'm sorry," she mumbled over and over again. I shook my helm before going back and deactivating autopilot and heading faster towards Prime's base.
