I should've expected it. The clues were showing that the events were following the movie's timeline, and Lizard's next and final stop would be Oscorp itself!

Dashing in my max speed on the rooftop, I leaped and vaulted over obstacles after obstacles. "Ethan! Where are you now?" Peter exclaimed through the phone call, clearly swinging through the streets as the background noise suggested.

"I'm still a few blocks away, but I'm close!" I responded, using my web and pulled myself to another building. "How about Ms. Watanabe?"

"The police are already there, and most of the building had evacuated..." He trailed off, giving out a heavy sigh. "I just hope there's no one there..."

No one there... Shit! Gwen! She's there in the original movie, and from the look of it... this is going to happen here!

Widening my eyes, I quickly scanned my surrounding for a faster route to Oscorp. And... there wasn't one, unless I swang over there. Right, being in the air would definitely be much faster than what I was using right now, and... I guessed that we had no other choice but to actually swing at this point.

No wait! Remember that one mission from the PS4 where Peter couldn't swing at all? He had to use uh... what were they called... whatever.

Since my swinging skill would definitely be sloppy at most, I guessed I had to compromise for now.

Closing my eyes and took a deep breath, I ran to the edge of a building and leaped. Even though the scene below was... beautiful. No wonder Peter would prefer swinging over just parkouring, on top of being faster.

Finding a random building and point to land my web-line on, I quickly pressed my palm and shot a line of web and pulled. Feeling my entire body flew through the air and the wind brushing all around me, I couldn't help but subtly smile under the mask.

Well, I guess I could use this before getting the hang of actually swinging. But back to the matter on your hand, Ethan! Gwen was still in danger!

Hastily shaking my head, I web-zipped myself to a nearby building's roof and launched.

Oscorp was only a few more blocks away, I had to act fast!

[Meanwhile, Oscorp]

Hearing the subtle groaning from Lizard as it walked into the lab area, Gwen and Martha hastily hid behind a table, holding their breaths.

'C-calm down Gwen, now's not the time to panic!' Gwen mentally yelled to herself, feeling Martha started shivering by her side.

"I can help you scout the Lizard's location, Gwen," White suggested, crawling onto the back of her hand. "Just keep calm and we'll get out from here alive."

"I know, but..." Gwen trailed off, glancing at Martha beside her.

Martha on the other hand, took out the anti-serum and clutched it. "Gwen, you shouldn't come... I shouldn't tell you anything about it..."

"Now's not the time to be depressed, Martha," The Oscorp intern grabbed her hand in return, looking right into her eyes. "We're going to get out alive, trust me, okay?"

Nodded in hesitation, Martha peeked over the table and looked for the Lizard. However, there was no one or anything in her sight. "...W-wait, where is he..."

Internally hoping that they're still not found, Gwen turned back to White on her hand. "Well, just don't die, okay?"

"Don't worry, I'll try my best not to," Feeling a 'nod' coming from the spider, she let it crawl to the table they're hiding in. "Wait, where the hell is Lizard?"

"What?" Widening her eyes in shock, Gwen glanced over the table and scanned the entire floor. Strangely, the lizard was nowhere to be seen, as if it vanished.

"G-Gwen, did you see him?" Martha asked, which the intern replied with a shook of her head.

"No, it either went to another direction or just vanished in the air-"

Before she could finish her sentence, an ear-shirking roar suddenly rang through the entire floor. However, the thing that made their heart sunk was still nowhere in their sight.

Until they looked up.

The Lizard who used to be called Curtis Connor was crawling on the ceiling, and it looked much closer to an animal than the last time it was seen. Without a word, both Gwen and Martha held their breath and tried to not move a muscle.

"Gwen, I'm highly advising you two to run, right now," White said warningly, crawling back to the back of her neck. "This is not Jurassic Park, he won't just ignore you two because you're not moving."

'I know,' Gwen responded inside her mind, her eyes never leaving from the Lizard itself. 'I'm just waiting until we got enough distance from it... I can't just risk it.'

Before White could think of its response, the Lizard dropped down to the ground and stood up. Obscuring the city of light outside of the window, it scanned through the entire floor and searched for Gwen and Martha.

And it spoke.

Was it because of him slowly being fully into a monster? But through the heavily distorted and unrecognizable voice of his, the two could only make out a few words.

'Martha', and 'help'.

However, before Gwen and Martha could do anything, the sound of glass shattering and a blur of red and blue interrupted their silence.

"You're not hurting them, Doctor Conner!" Spider-Man shouted, crashing right onto the Lizard and forced it away from them. "Gwen, you're okay!"

"That idiot..." Muttering to herself, the said blonde grabbed Martha's hand and moved to a cover further away from Peter and Lizard. "Give me the anti-serum, I'll find a way to give it to Pet-Spidey."

"...But-"

"Trust me, Ms. Connor," She cut Martha with a stern look, holding out her hand. "I have a way."

With a hesitant nod, Martha handed the anti-serum to Gwen. Even though they didn't say a word, but both of them knew there's only one chance. It wasn't just about Curtis, but most importantly... Billy too.

A family was on the line right now.

Taking the serum from her hand, the blonde turned back toward the fight between Peter and the Lizard. "Spidey! Catch!" She yelled, throwing the anti-serum with all strength she had.

Catching the anti-serum without looking, Spider-Man was about to stab the syringe on Lizard when Martha suddenly exclaimed and interrupted him.

"You have to inject the serum through his neck!" She said. "The serum is designed to flow and spread in the bloodstream, and you need to get it to the internal carotid artery!"

"Internal carotid artery... So the left side of his neck," Nodding, the webhead quickly switched his position and attempted to inject the anti-serum.

However, before he could do that, the Lizard suddenly grabbed both of his wrists and pushed them away. Planting his feet on the Lizard's chest and stuck, Spidey and Lizard entered a stalemate and struggled with each other.

And Lizard was winning.

[Meanwhile, outside] (Ethan's POV)

While I was web-zipping and soaring through the air as fast as I could, the sound of police sirens caught my attention. Looking down on the street below, I could only saw police cars on the road one after the other.

And that meant there's the situation much worse than I thought.

Narrowing my eyes toward Oscorp tower, I web-zipped myself toward one of the ARV and point launched. Sensing the slight explosion of shockwave at where my hands were on, I used my Spider-Wave and located Peter.

But dammit, he's out of my range. Let's hope he's already there by now.

Without any hesitation and hoping for the best, I felt my hand touched the wall of the Oscorp building and ran. And I used my Spider-Wave again... Okay, got them! All of them were on the 77th floor, and... It looked like Peter's fighting the Lizard right now.

...And... Why did I get another signal that's the same as Peter's? ...From my experience, that signal only came from anyone who got the power...

Wait a sec, that's probably Gwen!

Shaking my head and cleared my thought, I picked up my pace and ran along the wall as fast as I could. Using my Spider-Wave to check again, Peter was... struggling with Lizard!

Without a word, I fired a few web-lines to pull myself and leaped into the broken window Peter made earlier and slid through the ground. And I hastily fired two web bullets and stuck Lizard's feet on where it's on.

Peter was about to be pushed onto the ground, and he was holding a syringe in his right hand. ...That must be the anti-serum!

"Pass it to me!" I exclaimed, firing another web bullet and stuck the tail to the ground.

With a nod, he slid the anti-serum on the ground and right into my hand, and I hastily fired a line of web and pulled myself onto it's back. However, Peter's words stopped me before I injected the serum. "Inject it to the left side of his neck! That's the only place that it'll work!"

Okay, left side of his neck- Argh!

Before I could even react to my Spider-Sense, Doctor Connor's tail suddenly wrapped around my neck and tightened. And... Dammit, I had to break out before... I... suffocate...

...What's this feeling? It felt like... some kind of energy... emerging from my hand...

I couldn't think too much right now! ARGHHH!

With a silent scream, I punched the tail with all my remaining strength. In normal cases, my strength wasn't enough to do anything, but... the tail vibrated violently from my punch and released me.

...What the fuck did I just do? I didn't see any electricity, so that's definitely not Venom Blast, but... it felt like-

ARRRRRRR!

However, a roar of pain from Doctor Connor snapped my thought back to reality. And Peter took his chance and kicked him away.

Taking a few steps back and created some distance between us, Peter turned to me with a pair of narrowed eyelids. "Took you long enough."

"I know, but at least now I'm here," I shrugged, passing the anti-serum to Peter and glanced back on Doctor Connor. "Either way, we need to get this thing injected in him, right?"

"You just asked that," Spidey sighed, noting that the Lizard was rushing toward us. "But we're don't have the time to think of a way!"

Without a word, we hastily dodged his rush with a roll. And I fired two web-bullets at its legs, but it just easily broke free from them. Without a word, I hastily fired a line of web to its arm and tried to stall it, but my raw strength was too weak to combat it.

And I got thrown all the way the entire sector, crashing through the glass wall and into Connor's lab.

...Not gonna lie, it's really hurting me right now.

"...Note to self, ask Cat for some actual combat training after this one..." Murmuring to myself, I gripped my waist and groaned in pain. "Can't afford to pass out after every battle with a villain."

Meanwhile, Peter hastily rolled away from another slash by the Lizard, taking the opportunity and struck Lizard's torso with all his strength. However, it basically did nothing to it.

"Wha-" His eyelids widened, Spidey couldn't even finish his word as the Lizard grabbed his head and crushed him through a nearby lab table. "H-how did i-it got strong-ger!"

"If I'm right, it became more resilient!" I exclaimed, struggling to stand up. "Just like natural selection, it evolved to fight us more effectively."

Gripping two of its finger with his hand, Peter tried to lift the hand away from himself and barely succeeded. Rolling away, he took a few breaths in relief before I fired my line of web and pulled myself toward it.

Readying my punch, I was about to give it's head a right hook when it's tail suddenly tightly wrapped around my leg and toss me aside. And I crushed through a different desk away from everyone else.

...Damnit, couldn't I just do that I did a little bit before?

"C'mon, Noir, you're better than this," I whispered to myself, pulled myself up and clutched my fists. Let's hope this would work in my favor...

And that odd feeling emerged from my hands again, bingo.

Peter, on the other hand, tried his best and stopped Lizard from moving with his web. But it was only stalling it for a few moments, I had no time to think about my... additional ability, let's hope this would work like last time!

Rushing forward, I struck Lizard's torso like what Pete did before. And this time, I could feel the strange energy spread through its body, like a shockwave. Besides, a literal wave in white also spread through its body, just like how I 'saw' a heartbeat in red when I used my Spider-Wave.

However, my short analysis was interrupted when Doctor Connor recoiled from my punch. Not exactly, but similar to when I attacked it after Rachel overcharged its neural system with her electricity power.

Then that meant this works.

Without any second thought, I laid a few more punches to weaken its strength before pinning it with my web. Now it was weakened for a bit, maybe this would work this time.

"Spidey!" I shouted again, firing a few more web-strands to its arms and pulled. "Inject that damn anti-serum, now!"

Doctor Connor struggled against me, and my grip to the ground started to be overpowered. I could feel my feets started to slip slowly, but I tightened my grip and used my entire body to pull.

I... couldn't just let go! If you wanted a goddamn tug of war with me, then so be it!

"A-Arghhhhhh!"

Through the narrow gaps between my eyelid, I saw Peter jumped onto its chest with the anti-serum. However, Lizard tried to bite him and kept him from injecting the serum.

"C'mon, I can't hold too much longer-"

Before I could realize it, two pairs of hands gripped the web and pulled with me.

"We got this, shoot another line to its head!" I looked over and... it was Gwen and Miss Connor. "C'mon, Noir!" They exclaimed in unison.

I nodded, quickly fired another line and attached it to its head, and then we pulled. I could feel the tension building inside the web, and they're about to snap and break. This is bad, extremely bad! C'mon Peter, just injected it!

Thankfully, Peter stabbed the syringe through the thick skin. And pressed the inject button with his other hand. "C'mon Doctor! Wake up!"

With a final bit of struggle, for Lizard and us, it lost its strength and fell onto the ground with a loud 'boom. "D-did we do it?" Gwen asked, panting heavily as she tried to recover.

"I... I hope so..." I trailed off, also panting heavily.

Fortunately, the scale and any Lizard-like skin withered away from him. Just like how it did in that movie, the anti-serum worked. Well, the whole thing only played out similar to that movie, not exactly like it in the details.

Seeing the body of Curtis Connor started to show under the skin, Martha wasted no time and rushed to his side. "C-Curt!" She exclaimed, widening her eyes at his right arms withered into pieces. "Why did you have to be this stupid..."

However, the sound of incoming steps took over my attention. Looking over, it was Miss Watanabe with a police squad, and their gun was drawn.

"Wait, Yuri!" Spidey exclaimed. "We took care of the Lizard, don't shoot!"

Surprised at his words, the said lieutenant glanced over to Curtis behind him and hesitantly lowered her pistol. "...I'll trust you this time, take care of him."

With that said, the police squad carefully walked over and put a handcuff around his arms. On the other hand, Martha took off her lab coat and put it on his unconscious form.

Watching the police squad took thet the two Connors away, Miss Watanabe turned back and gave us a nod of appreciation. "Thank you," She said, holstering her pistol. "If not for you two, I'm afraid the situation would be much worse..."

"...Yeah," That's all I could say.

Peter, on the other hand, rubbed the back of his head and nodded. "I guess that's a win for Spider-Cop today, huh?"

"God, don't remind me of that. Just... take care." Miss Watanabe deadpanned in return, noticing Gwen who stood behind me. "Oh, and miss... you should come with us."

"C-can't I stay here for a bit long, I have a few words for Pet- Spider-Man."

Opening her mouth but with no words, the lieutenant nodded. "I think I can give you a few minutes max."

With that said, she left the scene and we're all alone again. Once she's left, I just gave out a long sigh of relief. Let's hope there wouldn't be another big villain to interrupt our plan.

And from the look of it, Peter didn't want the same thing either. Also giving out his own breath of relief, turning back and walked over to Gwen. "Thanks, Gwen." He said, smiling under his mask. "If not for you, I don't think-"

"It's fine, Pete," The said blonde shook her head and stopped him, not caring that I was still in the scene. "The Connors... they're my family too. Now... I don't know how Mom and Dad would react to Dr. Connor..."

"Yeah... I've guessed they won't take lightly about that..."

"And dad's probably pissed about me coming here," Even if the weight of Connor's situation hit her, Gwen still let out a smile. "I... I'm getting into so much trouble."

"And May's definitely worried about me too," Peter nodded, glancing over to the broken window he made during his entry. "I guess we should go now."

"Yeah."

With that, Gwen left the scene and we left from the broken window.

[?]

Sitting on the filthy ground below, she could only stare at the void of darkness surrounding her. It had been... how long since that girl with electricity power escaped? From her memory, she was called 'R'... or something like that, right?

However, even since her escape, things didn't seem to change at all. She didn't why though, maybe it was because those people thought it was an individual situation. Or... they're planning to 'put them down'?

Feeling a shiver ran down her spine as this thought hit her, she clutched her knees closer and buried her face in them. She didn't want to die, it didn't matter what should she do, she just didn't want to die.

She still remembered, those people who showed her smiles instead of needles. But... how long had it been?

Suddenly the sound of cells being burst open caused her to fall backward, her breathes quickened as another door being burst open. She could clearly recognize that sound, the sound of the basement's door being burst open.

"What was that?" A man yelled, and the sound of a pistol being cocked could be heard. "Don't tell me those damn kid got out again-"

Before she could even realize it, the sound of something pierced to flesh and an angered scream interrupted that man. "Ahh! You little-"

BANG!

Hastily scrambled to the back of her cell, the girl only stared at the cell door with a horrified stare. 'No no no no no no no no, this can't be happening...' She thought, and the possibilities flashed through her mind.

but it all came to one conclusion, she was about to die.

However, the sound of multiple cell door being unlocked could be heard. Then a pair of footsteps came closer to her cell door. And her cell door got unlocked and the dim light showed... a boy only two or three years older than her.

"Hey, it's fine," The boy said, giving her a reassuring smile through his blood-covered face. "I killed that guy, we're free now."

The girl didn't answer, just keeping her horror-filled look at him. W-who was he?

"I'm the same as you, one of those 'failures' they talked about," He extended his hand. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you."

...What should she do? She didn't want to die, but... how could she just believe him?

But... what about that girl before her?

"W-what..." Finding that her strength left from her body, she gulped and hesitated. "What about that girl who escaped before?"

"I... I don't know," He shook his head in response, keeping his extended hand toward her. "But c'mon, I don't know when those people will come and check."

"Hey! We can't wait any longer!" She heard another voice came from a few meters away, and how he winced.

"Just... c'mon."

Looking down, a million possible outcomes flashed through her head again. But... not all of them ended with her death. At least, there's still a one-in-million chance.

Besides... there's no other option. Why would she rather stay in this place to her death?

With a hesitant nod, she took his hand.

(To be continued)

Okay... so uh... it's literally been five months since the last chapter. This is a bit awkward, but this massive gap was caused by just my study (which is becoming busier and busier) and handling my other fic at the same time.

And actually, I wanted to finish 2020 with this chapter, but I guess I missed the time here. So uh... I'm really sorry about that.

Anyway, so the Lizard arc is finally finished, and the next few chapters would be basically a 'downtime' between arcs. Or in other words, it would be mostly a slice of life for our main casts. After all, aside from their hero status, they're still teenagers.

Review Responses:

Jackeish (And Abdur Rauf Aymaan since both of your reviews talked about the same thing): I'll try my best to publish new chapter as soon as possible, at least not like... 1 chapter per a few months.

Death Fury: Thank you :)

The-Anti-Akuma: O-oh, yeah, my grammar wasn't the best back when I first started writing this fic. And I'm planning to rewrite the first chapter to fix those plotholes (like the whole 'they just go back to Oscorp for some reason', which I kinda rewrote to fix.) and grammar errors So... yeah.

Sankey01: Oh, thank you so much for liking the story for far XD. And well, we did get a glimpse of Ethan's own unique power. And he'll slowly discover and learn how to use it properly (both in combat, and in traversal like how Miles' venom blast is implemented to movement.)

InCK: Um... so first, I don't think Ethan's style suited something like Arachnid and Arachno, at least personally. But Black Spider... Acutally, maybe 'Shadow', 'ombre' (which is 'shadow' in French) or even just 'Shadow Spider'.

paganknight18: Yeah, I thought the same after re-reading Chapter 1, so I rewrote that scene completely to somewhat fix it. As I've said above, I will rewrite the first chapter to make it better.

Raidentensho: Actually, I'm still wondering which villain I should use as the next arc. However, I wanted to not follow any movie, for now, maybe like an original villain, or just a purely original arc. Like a Mysterio arc that was borderline Psychological horror.

And yeah, the site had been... unstable recently to say the least. And with an entire year of a lack of PM notification... at least they somewhat fixed them now. And Ethan running to Luke Cage, from the look of it, Ethan and his encounter with the Defender is just the question of 'when', so he's basically confirmed to meet Like Cage XD.

And for the new hero name... I don't think Kurogumo would work. Since Ethan is never shown to have any interest in Japanese culture, it's a bit OOC for him to choose a Japanese name for no real reason.

Guest: You're right, the Peter here might be a bit too mature, so uh... I'll be careful on this from here on out. :)

BakaReiiiii: Well, here's more XD. But to be serious, thank you for liking it so far.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the story so far!
