The car pulled up to the first house, and I wasn't impressed. Not that the other citizens didn't have spectacular houses, this house was mediocre at best. Rantipol and I get out of the vehicle, shut the doors, and walk up to the house.

I guess if I thinking to myself, I can call Doc by his real name. I thought.

"What's with the low-end house?" I asked

"That's a very good question. One I think that will be answered when we enter it." Rantipol said.

"All right." I said.

As we were approaching the door, I saw Rantipol pulled out a pouch and produced a small key.

"What is that?" I asked.

"It's a skeleton key. It allows me to enter any house in the city." he said.

"I'm guessing you got that from Snow?" I asked.

"Not exactly." he said, as he unlocked the door.

"So, you stole it." I said.

"More or less." he said.

"Ha." I said, and then entered the house.

The interior of the house was what I was expecting: gaudy and extravagant. The colors were also all over the place it made me want to puke.

How can people live like this? Everything is bright and colorful, and it makes me nauseous and unbalanced. I thought.

"His office should be on the second floor." he said, shutting the door. I climbed the stairs as Rantipol checked the ground floor.

I climbed the stairs and I'm really thrown for a loop. There was a lot of pictures on the walls of women wearing no clothes, and all of them were in positions, or performing acts that I can only guess that are sexually in nature. I guess this is a glimpse into my future.

Not only are the Capitol citizens gaudy, but sexually as well. I thought, as I checked the first door.

All of the rooms had a sex theme to them, even his office had equipment for sex. I was a little hot under the collar just looking at all of the equipment and pictures that it was little hard to concentrate. I sifted through paperwork and documents trying to see what was necessary, and what wasn't. I was looking at the paperwork for ten minutes before Rantipol entered.

"Anything useful" he asked.

"Not to me, but I've only just started hanging out in the Capitol recently." I said, still looking at the mess in front of me.

I looked up from the paperwork and see a picture that had a group of twelve people plus an infant in the center of the group. I didn't think much of the picture, but it was going to be relevant very soon.

"Let's head to the next house." he said.

"All right." I said, and then stood up from the desk.

We exited the house, got back in the car, and headed to the next house. When we arrived, the house was more up to standards of a Capitol citizen. We got out and head to the house. What shocked us was that the front door was unlocked, and the house was a mess: furniture overturned, books pulled off the shelf, pictures frames ripped from the wall.

"Looks like we missed the party." he said.

"I'll—hold on. Look at this." I said.

"Look at what?" he said looking at me.

"I saw this picture on the desk at the last place. You think it might be of use?" I asked.

"Yeah. Grab and take it with us. We can us it to find the rest of the victims." he said.

I grabbed it and headed upstairs to the sound of a loud crashing. It was coming from the far end of the house, and I heard Rantipol running up the stairs behind me. We ran to end of the hall in an attempt to catch the intruder, but when we got to the room in question, there was nobody there and the window was open. Rantipol rushed to the window and looks out to see that there was nobody there.

Rantipol looks back to me and shakes his head. I walk to the window and look out.

"What are you doing? I told you that they aren't out there?" he said.

I see a bunch of places for the person to hide. "There are places to hide out there. Stay here and watch in case the try to run before I get down there. The moment I step outside, you come down." I said.

Rantipol was impressed by my train of thought, and then looks out as I was stepping out of the room. I ran down the stairs and to the back the door as quickly as possible. I opened the door as quietly as possible as not to spook the anybody if they are still out there. I looked up at the window and I see Rantipol leave the window.

I look all over the backyard and think about where to still start looking. I look at the spot directly under the window and look at the spots for hiding and get to it. A few moments later I hear footsteps approaching the backdoor. We swept the backyard for the better part of an hour and then gave up the search. I scanned one last time, and the head back in.

"What should we do?" I asked.

"Let's head back to the palace and scan this picture." Rantipol said.

Presidential Palace-

"What did you find?" Scarlet asked as we entered the front door.

"We found this." Rantipol said, producing the framed picture we took from the second location.

"Are these the victims, or targets?" Scarlet asked.

"I'm saying both." I said.

"Both?" Rantipol asked.

"How so?" Scarlet asked.

"He's using the picture as photographic evidence to identify his victims." I said.

"Hey, Rantipol look." Scarlet said.

"Look at what?" Rantipol asked.

"So, that's what this is about." a voice from behind us said.

We all turned to see that it was President Snow talking. Rantipol took a quick look at the picture and realized what the significance was.

"Ah." Rantipol said.

I looked at the picture. It had ten men surrounding a couple, and the woman was holding a baby.

"That's me." I said, at just above a whisper.

"What?" Rantipol and Scarlet asked.

"I said that the baby is me." I repeat my statement in a stern tone.

"You're not only invincible, but highly intelligent." Snow said.

"You've already stated that." I said, through gritted teeth.

"That I did." Snow said.

At that moment, a butler approached and said. "Sir, the city morgue is on the line."

"I'll take it here." Snow said.

"Yes, sir." the butler said, and then left.

Snow picked up the phone, and then I said. "Ten bucks say that they found another body."

"Scarlet, come with me. We're going to scan that picture to identify the rest of the victims. Finnick, Rantipol. You two are to go to the morgue. Another body has been found. After getting the identity, head back to the house of all the victims and search for a computer." Snow said, as he hung up the phone.

"And if we find one?" I asked.

"Put this in the computer drive and scan the hard drive." Snow said, handing a device to Rantipol.

"Anything in particular you are looking for?" I asked.

"This is going to find the files pertaining to your creation." Snow said, and then left with Scarlet.

Rantipol and I left. As we were approaching the car, Rantipol asked. "What do you think his endgame is?"

"At this point, anything goes." I said.

We get in the car and prepare ourselves for what we are about to learn.

Presidential Palace: library-

Rantipol and I we're gone almost two hours, but we didn't learn anything new. My mind is wondering about this turn of events. Why is it all of a sudden that the people who worked on the project that brought me into this world are now being silenced? I'm hoping it's not some scheme that Snow cooked up, but I wouldn't put anything past him. The ten men are disposable, and there's no way he would let any harm come to Scarlet. Rantipol could be expendable if I experience to many bad things.

Rantipol and I entered the library to see a screen with the picture on it, and all of the names of the people. I Sit back and watch Snow, Rantipol, and Scarlet debate about who could possibly be the next victim. I'm still trying to figure out why these people are being killed now? For all I know one of these people could be the killer, and they could be doing out of some twist sense of revenge or Snow put them up to it.

"How did this maniac get this information?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" Rantipol asked.

"Come on. This the team that created me and did so without a hint of it leaking to the public. I'm surprised the killer hasn't made a public statement about it yet." I said.

"I have no clue." Snow said.

"No clue? Well, either way the people involved, excluding the people in this room, are expendable. So, it's no skin off your back about these people being silenced." I said.

"How reductive of you." Snow said to my in a sarcastic tone.

"Give me the names of the last remaining members." I said, knowing that staying was useless.

"Here. This is the closes member." Scarlet said, writing the address down and handing it to me.

I take the address and walk out the door, not before grabbing the picture.

"What does the think he's going to accomplish going out there on foot?" Snow asked.

"What you called him here to do." Rantipol said, and then left.

S.D.D.

Two hours later-

It's starting to get dark, and I've been hanging around this address for at least an hour and a half. There hasn't been much activity since I arrived . I saw a few delivery drivers, an escort, and the mail person. Which strikes me as odd. Why is the mail being delivered this late at night? I pull the phone out I got from the butler on the way out and dialed the direct line to the library.

"Hello." Scarlet answered.

"It's Finnick." I said

"Learn something?" Snow asked.

"Check security cameras at the past three victims' homes." I said.

"Why?" Snow asked.

"I saw a mail person a couple of minutes ago." I said.

There was moment of silence, and then I heard Scarlet say. "Finnick, I'll call you back."

Then the line went silent. At that moment, I heard noise coming from the house. It sounded like a fight had broken out in there. I didn't think twice, even though I didn't have weapon. I guess I'll have to improvise when I get inside. I get to the door, and slowly turn the knob, open the door, slip inside and then quietly close the door. First thing I noticed that there were at least three people in the house: the two that are fighting, and a third who's back was to me.

At that moment I felt a change in air pressure, and then a door was slammed shut.

"We got company! We need to get out of here!" the man who was standing in front of me said.

I look for a weapon, and all I could find was a fire extinguisher. I grab it and attack the man. As he was turning around, I ram the extinguisher into their belly, and when doubled over I swing the extinguisher upward with enough force that it knocked him unconscious. At that moment, Rantipol burst into the room and knocked the second perpetrator out.

"What made you tag along?" I asked.

"No reason. Just felt like it." Rantipol said.

"Thank you so much! I was afraid that they were going to kill me." the man said.

Rantipol was talking to the man, but something felt off. As if it was too easy. Maybe these guys were here for some other reason. I'm having serious doubts, so when the police arrive to escort these men away, I say.

"I'm going to hang back." I said.

"Why?" he asked.

"This seemed way to easy." I said.

"I'll follow as well." Rantipol said.

We left the house but hid a few houses away and waited for the guy to make a move. It was a good two hours before there was any activity. At midnight, we heard movement. We looked out of the alleyway to see another man arrive at the house. I crept out of the alleyway towards the house, but before I could find a hiding place closer, I saw the person pick the lock and enter the house. Rantipol and I sprint to the house and enter ourselves. As we where approaching, we heard a fight break out.

Rantipol bust the door open, and we see the intruder preparing to stab the man. I tackle the man just as they were about to plunge the knife into the man's chest. I was taken back because the intruder had a smaller frame than I expected. I pinned the person to the floor and then got a good look at their face to see that it was a woman. She babbled on about that we were interfering, and that we are going to be sorry. While Rantipol ignores her, I take her warning to heart. I realize that I dropped the picture earlier, so I went to retrieve it.

Capitol police station: six hours later-

Come morning I find myself at the jail because another person was killed. Rantipol was out looking at the scene and the body, I went to ask that woman what she meant. The woman was dragged from her cell and put in an interrogation room. I was already waiting for her, and she was talking more nonsense.

"That not why we're here." I said, as I took a seat.

"You're the one who tackle me last night." she said, startle by my sudden presence.

"Yes. Yes, I am." I said.
