[Sunday, the main entrance of where Homecoming dance is held] (Ethan's POV)

So... Homecoming was here. And thank god Dr. Connor's situation was dealt with before today, who knew what today would become if we didn't. At best, it would be almost the same as how it was shown in Homecoming (the film). At worse... he would wreak havoc here.

And I didn't have the courage to imagine what that havoc would look like.

However, me... train of thought was halted as Peter nudged my shoulder. "Hey Ethan, what's wrong?" He asked, clearly noticed how my look was.

"O-oh, it's just... my imagination," I shook my head, adjusting my tie out of nervousness. "I'm just glad that we dealt with Dr. Connor before it got worse..."

"And it didn't disrupt Homecoming, or making it worse, right?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

"Well, then let's change the topic to something else, alright?" Seeing how I shrugged, Peter glanced over the empty space beside me. "So, why did Rachel just leave you alone? I mean, other than me here."

"Betty Brant asked Rachel to come with her, so... you get the idea," Rubbing the back of my head, I just let out a soft sigh and turned my gaze to somewhere else. "And now I"m with you guys, even though I did want to invite Felicia..."

Well, Felicia's stuff aside... Peter, just like you, I was also shocked when Catherine told me about this...

[The day before, during dinner, inside the apartment]

"Wait a sec, what do you mean by 'Rachel has a Homecoming date'?"

Seeing how shocked I was, Catherine only gave me a smirk in return. "Oh, you're starting to step into the 'protective big brother' role now, Ethan?"

"Well, I thought Rachel's coming with me, and it's just too sudden," I sighed, glancing over to Rachel who sat beside me. "And Rachel, um... I think Catherine is going to tease me more than explaining the situation..."

As if she just heard our conversation, she snapped up and looked at me with a faint blush. "U-um... it was this morning, and Betty just suddenly called me and asked me out for Homecoming..."

"Oh hey Rachel! How's your doing?"

"Uh... I'm alright... just really bored."

"I get that," Betty chuckled, sending a wave of confusion to Rachel. "But hey, at least Homecoming is just around the corner, so just hang on for today!"

"Well, you have a point..." She nodded, letting her body fell to her bed. "But uh... why did you call me out of nowhere? I mean, you can just want to call and just talk, but-"

"I just wanted to hear your voice, and... Since it's our first Homecoming, I wanted to ask you to come with me. Since uh... you saved me when that Lizard attacked teh school, and I want to repay you."

Widening her eyes, Rachel just froze at her words. D-did Betty asked her to come to Homecoming together?!

With millions of thought passed through her head in a millisecond, the raven-haired girl found herself replied before she even considered the consequences. "O-of course!"

"Oh! Fantastic! Then let's meet up at the entrance tomorrow, okay?"

"Y-yeah, sure!"...

"So yeah, now I'm going with her..." Trailing off, Rachel turned away and looked at nothing in particular. "...Sorry."

"Nah, it's fine," I shook my head, taking a bite into my dinner. "I wasn't like I'm really mad or anything, just a bit shocked."

"Besides, I'm happy for you having more friends than before."

Surprised by my words, she snapped back at me with the warmest smile I'd seen from her. "O-oh, t-thank you, Ethan..."

"It's fine," I smiled back, giving a soft pat onto her head. "Just be careful, even if it's your friends."

"I know," Rachel nodded subtly, still holding the smile.

To be honest, I should have gone to Felicia's place and pick her up. But she told me that she wanted it to be a surprise, so now I was just standing here and waited for her. Funny enough, Peter told me that Gwen told him the same exact thing as well, and we're just waiting for them.

As for MJ... Wait, she just told us the same thing as Felicia and Gwen.

Okay, what in the world were they planning?

"Hey Pete, did the girls said anything?" I asked, adjusting my tie again. "It's been a while now, and at this rate..."

"We're gonna miss the Homecoming," Pete finished for me, pointing something at my right. "Oh hey, they're here."

I looked over to the direction Pete pointed, and a red Honda Accord slowly came to us. And well, for some reason, it just felt like something MJ would drive. Maybe it was the red shading?

Either way, the car pulled up, and the three girls came out and walked up to us. And... I... I got no words to describe how good they looked. Well, we kinda met each other every day, but seeing them in proper dress, hair, and some makeup...

Everything just got put in a totally different spotlight.

Maybe it was one of those 'Oh I finally realize how beautiful you were' moments, but...

However, my train of thought was halted abruptly by Felicia. "Hey Ethan, cat got your tongue?" She said with a cat-like smirk, nudging my shoulder.

...Well, you did.

Like, you were wearing a black one-piece dress, and it fit perfectly on her! Wait a sec, it didn't look like something from a store either, it literally looked like one of those dresses that belongs to some international brand!

On top of that, she just gave out an aura of elegance. Totally different from the slight seductiveness when she's Black Cat, or the clumsy and nerdiness when she's Felicia.

"Y-yeah, I guess you did catch my tongue," I said with a faint blush, rubbing my neck and looked away. "And hey, you look better when you let your hair down."

"Huh, so you like it when I let it down," Raising an eye in amusement, she played around a strand of hair and gave me a wink. "If you like it, I guess I'll do this more then."

"Wait, really?"

"Of course I am," Felicia giggled at my nervousness. "Anything for you, Ethan. Remember the glasses comment?"

Thankfully, Gwen's calling snapped me out from the upcoming 'mental train crash' from Felicia's word. "Ethan, Felicia! Save the lover's quipping for later, or we're leaving you two!"

"O-oh right, we should get going."

With a nod from her, we walked back to the group. And of course, the first thing the girls noticed was the absence of Rachel. I really should've explained this to them beforehand.

But anyway, how was Rachel now?

[Meanwhile, inside the avenue]

In short, Rachel was having the best time of her life right now.

Like, seeing Betty in a dress and how good she fitted with it, and how Betty said she loved hers were already great. But just having fun with her around... that's already enough, everything else was just the cherry on top.

Actually, on second thought, the statement 'this was the best time of her life' was a bit of exaggeration.

"Well... this is loud," Rachel commented, brushing a strand of hair away from her eyes. "It really isn't my type of... things to be in."

"Yeah, it's definitely louder than I thought," Betty nodded, taking a sip of her own drinks. "But hey, the drink's really good here."

"Really?"

"It IS that good," She gestured to the table behind her. "I can get you one if you want to."

"Um... maybe later," Rachel shook her head, scanning through the entire room. "Actually... shouldn't we be dancing right now? I mean, everyone else is doing that..."

"Nah, I'm sure it's fine," Betty shrugged, flashing her a smile. "Besides, dances aren't everything for Homecoming... Or I think so."

However, before Rachel could think of a response, a boy and a girl suddenly walked up to them, and with a small grin from the boy's face. "Hey Betty, it's been a while," He said.

Taking another look, it was a dark-skinned girl with curly hair tied into a messy ponytail. And next to her was a Filipino boy with middle-cut hair, and as much as Rachel felt a bit inappropriate...

He was a bit chubby, no offense though.

Turning around, the amateur new host greeted them with genuine surprise. "O-oh hey, yeah, it's been a long while."

"It wasn't that long," The girl from the duo deadpanned, and she was holding... a book, and a huge one to be exact.

At that moment, Rachel only stared at them with pure confusion. Betty never mentioned... them to her before. But well, it wasn't like she needed to tell her everything, they just knew each other for a month or two...

With how the Lizard messed up everything, it did felt like a long time.

Thankfully, Betty didn't leave her out of the conversation. "O-oh Rachel, I should introduce you to them," Grabbing her arms, she gestured to the boy with a bright look. "So um... she is Rachel, my Homecoming date."

"Rachel, this is Ned Leeds," She turned to the bored-looking girl beside Ned. "And this is MJ. I used to be in the same middle school as them."

"M...J?" Upon hearing that name, Rachel just blinked in slight awkwardness. "It felt weird after knowing a different MJ..."

"You mean the other MJ from the sophomore year?" 'MJ' said with a raised eyebrow, brushing her loose hair aside. "Then just call me Michelle then, I guess that works."

"O-okay," The raven-haired girl nodded, holding an awkward smile. "Nice to meet you two, Ned, Michelle."

"Don't sweat it," Michelle shrugged, crossing her arms. "Anyway, so what's your story, Rachel?"

"...My Story?"

"I mean how did you meet Betty. And what did you do to be her first Homecoming 'date' of her life," She clarified, using her fingers to emphasize the 'date'.

In response, Rachel just stood still and blinked in confusion, and this state lasted for at least twenty seconds. Why Michelle had to put this much emphasis on her being Betty's partner? It wasn't like there was any underlining meaning to this, maybe she just wanted to let her have some friends to come to Homecoming together.

Or...

Seeing there was nothing wrong to tell her the truth, Rachel decided to tell them. "Well, Betty just called me yesterday and asked me to come with her. That's all."

However, instead of the indifferent reaction Rachel expected...

Michelle and Ned just stared at Betty with widened eyes, but much more subtle for Michelle's part. And the same could be said for Betty herself as well, other than the targets of that stare was on herself instead.

"...Did... did I said something wrong?" She asked dumbly, mostly to no one. "Or did I said something I shouldn't say?"

"W-well, it wasn't like some classified secret," Ned cleared his throat. "It's just that... Betty never actively invited someone to go with anything with her."

"Or in other words, you're the first person she asked out in forever," Michelle finished for him. "Quite a bold move, Betty."

"...Huh?" Rachel just blinked in more confusion, totally missing the point they were talking about. "That doesn't mean anything. Why would something like this matter anyway?"

Noticing a chance to get herself out of this awkward situation, Betty took it without a second thought. "Y-yeah, it's just that she only has me as her friend, that's pretty much it."

Even though they didn't look buying her explanation, but Michelle and Ned decided to not press this on. Maybe a change of topic between them would be a better choice.

Thankfully, the sudden change in the song playing provided them a chance to change their topic.

[Meanwhile, on the other side of the stadium] (Ethan's POV)

Well, even though I did attend Homecoming at my Freshmen year (back in my old world), but this was... much more than I thought. Maybe that's actually how Homecoming was for schools located in cities? After all, my old school was... located in some unknown town.

And with the change of music, the dance floor was instantly filled with screams of excitement. Just like the same kind of scream you would hear in a concert, just much quieter in comparison.

As for us, we just decided to stand around and enjoyed the food here. It wasn't the best, but definitely good.

"This is actually some good food..." MJ muttered, widening her eyes in amazement. "They actually listened."

"Yeah, they really did," Peter nodded, taking another bite to his mini-pizza. "Maybe they changed the person who's making them?"

"Probably," Gwen shrugged. "From what I heard, last year's food was mainly prepared by a Senior... I guess that guy graduated and they had to change it?"

"It's probably the case," Pete nodded.

"And it's for the better too!" The redhead laughed, grabbing another cupcake from the table. "I think I'm probably gonna stick to this table for the rest of this dance!"

"You'll get fat, Mary," The blonde deadpanned. "Like... real fast."

"But who knows whether next year's food would be this good?" MJ pouted, taking a large bite into the cupcake. "Mhmm! It's sooo good!"

Peter just facepalmed at her words, alongside Gwen.

Well, I guess MJ's just gonna... eat through the entire dance? Wait, then how in the world did she keep her shape? I mean, playing guitar wasn't that much of an exercise, and I didn't think she's a model like in some cases.

So... I guessed that was probably just over-confidence. Yeah, that's probably it.

However, my thought was interrupted as Felicia nudged my arms, gaining my attention. "Hey Ethan..." She trailed off, a small blush crept on her cheeks. "Wanna dance?"

"H-huh? Why so sudden?"

"Well, we're in a Homecoming 'Dance', after all," She said, using her fingers to emphasize the 'Dance' word. "C'mon, I'll let you lead if you want to."

"But what about Peter-"

Before I could finish my words, Felicia turned toward Peter's trio (To be honest, I didn't have a real name for them...) "Hey Peter! I'm bringing Ethan to the dance floor with me!"

"Oh- Wait, are you sure Ethan can dance?" Peter answered with a raised brow, and his worried glance shifted upon me.

Uh... What should I say... I didn't see any mentions of 'dance' when I first read the old journal this world's Ethan left behind. I did have some experience of dancing, mostly because of my Homecoming dance last year. But if what if my past experience here didn't match with what they remembered... it might turn out bad.

But... I was kinda backed into a corner at the point, so let's hope my other self also did the same thing as me.

"Y-yeah, I had some lessons for last year's dance," I said with an awkward smile. "It wasn't that much, but I think I'm alright."

Giving me a gaze that made me gulped, Peter shrugged after a few moments. "Sure, have fun you two!"

"Of course I will," Flashing him a bright smile, Felicia wasted no time and pulled me to the dance floor.

Just as I remembered from my old school, the dance floor was filled with people dancing their hearts out. Which meant everyone was just swaying their bodies around, laughters of joy kept ringing around us.

Wait a sec, then why did my dance lessons matter? Maybe this was how Homecoming inside a city's high school would be... right? God, I was so clueless about stuff like this.

However, my train of thought was interrupted as Felicia nudged my shoulder. "Ethan, can you hold me?" She asked, flushed.

Uh... HUH?! Okay Ethan, snapped out from your shock and be a gentleman.

Nodding awkwardly, I stiffly reached for her waist and wrapped my arm around it. "Uh... Felicia, that's what you want?"

"No, I just want you to hold my hand," She gulped. "I might have... left out some details... out of nervousness."

"O-oh," I blinked, hastily putting my hand back on hers, and we held each other.

There wasn't like a dominant side for it, there weren't like she held my hand tighter than I, or the other way around. But hey, I... I liked it, and Felicia liked it as well.

Seeing a cute smile crept onto her, we said nothing as our bodies slowly started to move along to the music. It was subtle at first, only swaying my arms for a small bit. But as we started to get used to the music, and the feeling of each other's hand, we slowly let ourselves being lost to the music.

Well, it was probably more for her than me. Not that I didn't enjoy the music or anything.

Watching how Felicia and Ethan danced as if they were having the time of their life, Peter couldn't help but feel happy for them. And the same could be said for Gwen, who was standing beside him.

"Pete, how much time do you think will take for them to finally confess?" She asked, taking a big sip of her drink. "Like, it's literally the only thing between them now."

"Uh... I think they should take their time, that's all," Peter shrugged.

"Fair enough," Gwen smiled, glancing over to MJ's side. "Mary, you're still eating?!"

MJ, who was enjoying the fifth slice of chocolate cake provided in the dance, looked up with a pair of innocent eyes. "Hmm? Y-yeah," She shuttered, giving her bestie a small nod. "Wanna try?"

"You're literally the last slice available here, Mary," The blonde deadpanned.

Turning around with a raised brow, Peter widened his eyes as he saw the empty plate before her. "W-wow, you really ate the whole cake on your own. That's impressive, MJ."

"Thanks, Peter!" MJ smiled brightly at his comment, taking a large bite into the chocolate cake. "Mhmm! I love it!"

Sweatdropping at her... enjoyment, Gwen turned back to Peter with a wry smile. "Let's just... Leave Mary alone for now."

"Yeah, that's probably for the best."

(Back to Ethan's POV)

In the end, the Homecoming dance was fun, at least more fun than my Homecoming in my old school. Maybe this was because I actually have someone to have fun with, instead of just me alone.

After dancing (if you counted swaying around as dancing) with Felicia through a few songs, we came back to Peter's side and just hanged out for the remainder of the dance. Even though the fact that MJ ate almost half of the food provided, which was... horrifying?

Who knew Mary Jane Watson could do such things as this AND didn't get out of shape. Maybe every girl in this universe is a hidden black hole of food?

Wait, that's disrespectful, Ethan. Purge this thought out of your mind, NOW!

Now that the dance had ended, because of the attack before, a lot of students decided not to have any parties. Quite a shame, to be honest, I was interested in how those parties would play out. I did hear some of them mentioning the word 'party', but they weren't in my kind of crowd, so I would go to those either.

But anyway, becuase there was nothing planned afterward, Gwen, Felicia and MJ said goodbye and left with their car. And only me and Peter remained. And... it was awkward to stand before the main entrance while everyone else walked by you.

Like, really awkward.

Kept glancing over at other students walking by him, Peter just sighed for the ninth time for the last five minutes. "To be honest, why are we still here?"

"You can leave whenever you want, Peter," I deadpanned. "I'm just waiting for Rachel, Catherine told me to take her home. As for you though..."

"I know, I know," He rubbed the back of his neck. "Actually, Mr. Stark is quite curious about you, Ethan."

...Huh?! Wait, Tony Stark is curious about me?! W-well, that made sense, I was literally there and busted quite a few warehouses that belonged to criminals. And the whole Lizard thing definitely made the news... At this point, it was the question of 'when'.

"Okay," I nodded, shifting my hand inside my pockets. "Well uh... Peter, can you tell him to not make a new suit for me?"

"Huh? Why though?"

"Felicia literally just gave me a new suit yesterday, I don't want to waste her effort," Yeah, Felicia made that just for me... I couldn't just say 'Hey, Tony Stark made me a better suit' and dropped hers. I would just be a douchebag to her if I did that. And from the look of it, Peter seemed to agree to me as well.

"I'll... tell Mr. Stark about it," He nodded, more to himself than to me. "But in the end, he's probably gonna come and meet you. Just like how he did to me half a year ago."

"And brought you to Germany," I finished for him, flashing him a small smirk. "I did read the news, and the whole accord thing was a big one."

"Huh? But I didn't remember any mention of me in Germany in any news," Lifting a brow, Peter tilted his head in addition. "And nothing on the internet too... so where did you get tha-"

Thankfully, a sudden phone call interrupted him before he could finish his word, and metaphorically forced me into a corner. And... it's my phone. Uh... it's probably just Catherine being worry about me and Rachel, right?

Taking it out, I glanced at who was calling... Wait, it was Miss Watanabe.

Giving Peter an unsure glance, I accepted the call. "U-uh... Hello, Miss Watanabe. What's the matter?"

"Noir, can you meet me at the Midtown station roof as soon as possible?"

Wait, what? Why did she call me first?

"O-oh, um... No offense, but Miss Watanabe... why didn't you call Spidey first?"

"Because for whatever reason, he just doesn't answer my call."

Widening my eyes in surprise, I couldn't help but sigh. Turning back at Peter with a deadpanned look, I glanced at his pocket. "Hey Spidey, Check your phone."

"Huh, did someone called me?" Lifting a brow, he did what I said and checked his phone. And to be honest, his shocked face was quite a rare sight of comedy. "...Oh no, I'm in so much trouble now-"

"And that's why Miss Watanabe is calling ME now instead-"

"Excuse me, but I'm still on the line," Miss Watanabe interrupted me, and... I thought I could see her disappointed face. "SO, just... I shouldn't stick on this for too long."

"Anyway, I called you two for an important matter. And I need you to be there, don't make me wait for too long."

With that said, she hung up the call and left me and Peter alone. And I gave Peter a small shrug. "Miss Watanabe said she doesn't want to wait for too long, it's the Midtown police station."

"Got it," He nodded, gesturing to the direction of his apartment. "Let's hope that it won't take us too long."

Judging from Miss Watanabe's tone, it probably wasn't the case. As much as I wanted it to be what you said.

With that said, Peter hastily ran away and now I was all alone again. C'mon, Rachel, couldn't you just come out and- Oh wait, she's coming out, and with Betty Brant and... Wait for a second, it was Jacob Batalon and Zendaya- No, Ned Leeds and Michelle Jones!

Just as I thought this universe was strange enough, it's going to throw me another curveball and mess things up, wasn't it?

But as Rachel spotted me through the crowd, she hastily beamed and rushed to my side. "I'm sorry Ethan, did I make you wait?"

"Uh... Not really," I reassured her, shaking my head before changing into a more serious look. "But um... Miss Watanabe called me for serious matters, and I have to go. So uh..."

"Duty call, right?"

"Yeah, and probably an emergency."

Rachel raised a brow though, weird. "So why are you still here? I'll tell Catherine that I'm staying at Betty's place for the night."

...WHAT?!

"You're not serious, right?"

"I am, Betty wants to have a small Netflix party with me, Ned and Michelle," She said with a bright smile. "And don't worry, I will protect myself if Ned wants to do anything to me."

...He wouldn't. I guess?

But uh... how would Catherine react to this? Would she be worried or- No, now it wasn't the time to think about it, Ethan Turner. I need to get to Miss Watanabe.

"O-okay, stay safe and call me if anything happens," I sighed, adjusting my web-shooters underneath my sleeves before I started running to the nearest alleyway. "Love you, Rachel!"

"Love you too, Ethan!"

Flashing her a reassuring smile, I turned back and picked up my pace. Why didn't I bring my mask... Whatever, Just get back to my room and changed into the suit, it probably wouldn't take too long for me to get there.

I hope so.

(TO be continued)

So okay, a month later than I originally thought so... But much quicker than I thought I could be. Not that it was great or anything.

Anyway, sorry for this chapter of feeling a bit filler-like, but now the Homecoming came and gone with relative peace. Now it's time for the next arc XD.

And yes, those... subjects escaped from that basement would play a part in this. And the next chapter probably would start from their point of view.

And before responding to the reviews of the last two months... I would like to say that I'm going to rewrite the first few chapters of this fic. And I think it's the first three chapters, for now.

Mostly because those chapters were written when I'm first starting to write Fanfic, and specifically fully in English. So there were a lot of things I would like to change (like the writing style, or the details in plot and such.)

So yeah, it would be the rewrite first, then the next chapter.

Review Response:

Guito248: Yeah, it would be kinda badass XD. Even though I was intentionally avoiding the more major side of the MCU for now... maybe Ethan will meet them later on and actually have some interaction with each other.

Death Fury: Thank you! And for sticking around with my... un-regular posting schedule.

BakaReiiiii: Thanks! :)

Varezys: Actually, I did consider just make Felicia give Ethan the black suit from the PS4 game. However, since the red Spiders kinda conflicted with my image about Noir's suit, so in the end, I chose an original suit for him.

And yeah, let's hope Ethan won't be too much of a nerd when he saw the Spider-Men from other dimensions XD.

As for the pairing, yeah, with her being on appearing on the cartoons and games. Her popularity is much smaller than someone like MJ (both versions) and Gwen. And yeah, I like her in the PS4 version too, and that's part of the reason I chose her as this fic's ship with Ethan.

Raidentensho: Yeah... even though it might take a bit too long... But anyway, yep, Ethan is a bit quicker than Peter physically, to compensate for his lack of strength and sensing power.

And... Yeah, those are mostly the things he really needs to train, thankfully Felicia would help him with it. As for Elektra... consider who would be involved in the next arc, it might be a possibility... And Ethan probably has a good reason for Felicia... or I hope so.

Devin Devin: Oh, uh... as I mentioned before, I'm going to rewrite those three chapters. Since I do agree that it's kinda hard to read sometimes. And all those grammatical problems you mentioned before.

As for the baton thing... Yes, Ethan does have the agility and Spider-sense like Peter, but he's much more inexperienced in full fight with a group of criminals. So that's why some obvious hit like that baton slipped through and hit him.

AstralBound: Thank you so much! :)
