Chapter 1: I'm Adopted?

7/31/2011
Third Person P.O.V.

Cassiopeia Lupin (Cassie to her friends) is a pure-blooded witch that has been surviving alone on the streets of London ever since she was five after she got separated from her grandparents in a crowd of people. She mostly prefers to keep to herself and it usually takes quite a lot of effort to get her to speak to another person.

She is 5'3, quite tall for her age, due to the lack of proper food caused by living on the streets she is quite skinny with pail white skin, short, choppy, hair which is black as the night, and blood red eyes, though she isn't a vampire. Around her neck sits a simple gold chain with a moon pendant that she wears constantly.

Today Cassiopeia is happily heading for a place where she is expected to do her school shopping as yesterday she accepted a position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She is extremely happy about this and smiling brightly at every person she passes on her way to the Leaky Cauldron.

Cassie's P.O.V.

I hum happily when I arrive at the Leaky Cauldron before walking in and looking around. I spot a boy my age and a man twice the size of any adult in the room and walk over to them. I smile shyly and ask the tall wizard with the boy to help me enter Diagon Alley. "O' course I'll help you, miss!" he says happily in a booming voice, "Was headed that way m'self. Got to take yon' Harry here to get his school supplies. Rubeus Hagrid's my name by the way, an' yer' are?

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry sir. I should have introduced myself before asking any favors, where are my manors. My name is Cassiopeia; it's a pleasure to meet you, and you as well, Harry." I say, looking first at the tall man and then to the timid boy by his side.

"Think nothin' of it. A pleasur' to meet yer' too!" the giant of a man says before heading for the back door, leaving Harry and I to follow quickly as he mutters something about good manners. When we reach he back Alley Harry gives Hagrid a confused look and I smile.

"Muggle raised or Muggleborn, if you don't mind my asking?" I ask him and he looks at me.

"Muggle raised, I suppose." he says with a small smile before seeming to realize something and adding, "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself too. I'm Harry, Harry Potter. It's nice to meet you."

"Cassiopeia. Nice to meet you too. Are you going to take your inheritance test today while you're here?" I ask. He gets another confused look so I smile before explaining what an inheritance test is, "It is required that all muggle raised and pure-blooded witches and wizards take one at the age of eleven to determine how many vaults and titles they have and can claim. It also tells them of any living family or creature inheritances."

"Creature inheritance?" he asks

"Yeah, sometimes, when a Witch or Wizard has some form of creature blood in their family line, they have a chance of becoming said creature. As an example, if you had wood elf blood somewhere in your line there is a chance you could become a wood elf." I explain.

"Oh, ok, that makes sense." he says happily before adding, "Thank you for telling me, Cassiopeia."

"Think nothing of it, you have a right to know." I say just as Hagrid finally remembers the pattern and the entrance opens. Harry's jaw drops and I laugh as I close it for him. Hagrid takes us to the bank where I immediately walk up to a teller after whispering for Harry to follow my lead.

I look up at the Goblin and politely say, "Hello master goblin. I would like to humbly request both my required inheritance test and a trip down to my trust vault." The Goblin looks surprised at hearing a child being polite and calls another Goblin over to take me to a tester. I see Harry and another Goblin coming too. We follow the Goblins to a small office and are told to wait. After a short wait an older looking Goblin comes in and asks a little sharply who goes first. I smile and stand as I say, "Honored master goblin. First may I request to know what your name is? After that I would like to take the test first as Harry here is muggle raised and does not know how this works."

The goblin gives me a surprised look before saying, "My name is Iron Claw. Step up to my desk so you can take the test." He pulls out a Knife and some paper he looks at me and says, "Cut your hand and place seven drops of blood on the paper."

I do as I am told and I am soon handed the, now longer, rolled up parchment. I back away a bit and say, "Thank you, Master Iron Claw." I then turn to Harry, "Your turn."

"Oh. Ok." he says politely taking the offered knife before following my example and dropping seven drops of blood on the paper. Soon he also had a piece of paper in his hands.

I smile and say. "Thank you Master IronClaw. We should go as we have school shopping and do not wish to take too much of your precious time as we know you must be quite busy. Thank you for your time." We get up and walk out. The Goblin that lead Harry here is waiting for us and leads us out of the halls back to the main entrance. I thank him before me and Harry look at our test results.

'I'm adopted?' I think before looking at Harry and asking, "Anything interesting on yours?"

Harry looks up at me, smiling brightly as he says, "I have a sister! It says my parents are alive but in hiding, same with my sister, but they're alive!"

"That's great, Harry." I say with a smile before spotting Hagrid, "Oh, there's Hagrid, we'll talk more about our tests after shopping, alright?"

Harry nods and we walk over to Hagrid. He smiles when he sees our grins and asks, "How was it?"

"Great." I say cheerfully.

Fifteen Minutes Later

By the time we get to Madam Malkins to get our robes I am beginning to think that Harry is going to need to have his smile surgically removed from how wide he's grinning. Hagrid took us to the pet shop a little bit ago and bought Harry a beautiful snowy owl. I bought a black falcon because there's no rules against having a different type of bird at Hogwarts, I read the full rule book of Hogwarts before getting separated from my adoptive grandparents and asked Hagrid if any rules had been added. He confirmed that the rules were the same as when I read the rule book.

Soon as we get done with our robe fittings we go to the Apothecary for our potions supplies and I also purchase a potion to remember my last life. When we exit the shop the first thing I see is a boy being bullied by a red head. I tense up and hear a growling voice in my mind say, 'Tell that ignorant pup off! He's messing with our pack!'

I frown because I've never heard that voice before, but don't dwell on it, instead marching over to where the two are and snapping, "Hey! What gives you the right to pick on him like that?"

"I'm Ron Weasley." he sneers at me, "Who are you?"

'How dare he speak to me like that! I am an Alpha! Teach him a lesson!' the voice says and I glare coldly at the boy, "So sorry for not introducing myself to such a well trained rodent." I sneer back, "I'm Cassiopeia Lestrange," both boys tense at that so I add, "and you Mr., Weasel, was it? I suppose you should be made aware that you are currently speaking to a True Born Werewolf Alpha." both boys are getting paler by the second. "Now why don't you apologize for bullying a member of my pack and leave before I get upset."

He runs away, yelling an apology over his shoulder as he does. A second passes before a shy voice comes from my right, "Thank you."

I look at my pack member with a smile and say, "No problem. That pup needs to learn manners."

"Did you mean it when you called me part of your pack?" he asks nervously.

"Yes. I would never lie about something as important as that. You can owl me if you ever need anything, I will come as quickly as possible." I tell him and he nods as an old lady wearing a vulture hat comes rushing over.

"There you are Neville! You scared me half to death! Are you hurt? Who is this young lady? It's nice to meet you dear." she says in a slight rush.

"Hello Madam, Neville didn't mean to get lost. He was being bullied and I was hoping to get him a present, as an apology for his troubles. Perhaps I could buy him his wand?"

"Oh, that's not necessary." she says, "He's going to be using his fathers wand."

I frown a bit and say, "Madam, am I correct in assuming that you are of the Longbottom family?"

"Yes, that's correct." she says.

"In that case madam, wasn't Neville's father and Auror?" I ask.

"One of the best." she says proudly.

"Then he cannot use his fathers wand." I tell her with a concerned frown.

"What do you mean?" she asks with a frown.

"Well, Aurors tie their wands to themselves by adding their blood to the core of the wand. Since his father, to the best of my knowledge, is alive, even if he had not done this the wand would react poorly with Neville's magic. The resulting magical backlash of him using it could kill him, and others, likely the explosion would kill an estimate of at least a thousand people in the surrounding area at the time of the blast. It's much safer for everyone if he gets his own wand, which I am willing to purchase."

"That's very nice of you dear, but all things considered, I'd rather get him a custom wand." she says hesitantly as she looks worriedly at Neville.

"In that case I am willing to craft him a wand. I am a natural wand maker so I can create one for him and have it to him by the time we get to Hogwarts. All he would have to do is gather the materials that call out to him." I tell her and she frowns.

"Oh, well, I don't know..." she says hesitantly.

"Please, I insist." I tell her, "Along with making his custom wand I can brew a potion that only my family knows the recipe of, a bit of our instinctual family knowledge. It will take a couple years unless I can get all the ingredients quicker than the year. If I can get them within the month then I can have the potion done by the time we're ready to board the train for our second year of schooling."

"What does the potion do that would take so long?" she asks curiously.

"Permanently reverses the effects that torture can have on a person's mind." I tell her and she gives me a confused look. "No matter how bad the effects are. It will be able to heal your son and his wife."

"You can help my parents?" Neville asks hopefully.

"If I can get all the ingredients. Quite a few of them are rather rare plants." I tell him and his face lights up with excitement.

"Like what?" he asks.

"The flowers I would need would be a carnivorous mountain lily, an emerald bloom, and a weeping dancer. Then I'd need some treated black root leaves and some blood oak bark." I tell him. "I can easily get access to the other ingredients. In fact, they're all in my first year potions kit."

"Why do you want to help us so badly?" Neville's grandmother asks.

"As an apology for my mother's crimes against your family." I tell her. "My name is Cassiopeia Lestrange. I may not remember her, but Bellatrix is my mother."

She frowns before slowly nodding and saying, "Alright, well, if you can heal Frank and Alice then we'd be grateful. Thank you for the offer. Neville will send you the ingredients for his wand."

"Of course, Madam Longbottom, have a nice day." I say before looking at Neville and saying, "I will see you on the train, Neville." I then turn and rush after Harry and Hagrid.

When we finally get back to the Leaky Cauldron Hagrid invites me to stay with him and Harry. I accept and when we get into the room Hagrid immediately passes out on the bed. Harry looks at me and asks, "Is there a way of magically tracking someone?"

"Yes." I say as I grab my trunk, which I had made with three compartments, one of which being a two bedroom apartment, and open it, "I can start brewing a potion to track down living family members tomorrow. For now, lets go to bed."

I write a note for Hagrid, putting it on his head, and we climb into my trunk and head into the separate bedrooms. I drink the past life remembrance potion and go to sleep. The next morning we go out of the trunk and Hagrid is still asleep so I throw the note away. A second later there is a tapping on the window.

I turn an find an owl so I quickly open the window for the Owl so that Hagrid doesn't wake up; the owl gives me another Hogwarts letter addressed to my birth name. I laugh and write a letter saying I accept the position at Hogwarts before giving the owl a treat, handing it the letter and sending it off. I go back into my trunk, telling Harry to let Hagrid know where I am when he wakes. I go to the potions lab I have in here and begin brewing the potion I promised. It only takes a couple hours but Harry and I agree to wait until Hagrid leaves before using it.

What do you think? In this story a True Born werewolf is like the big bad wolf from Red Riding hood the movie from 2011.
