As Spyro, Cynder and Sparx walked to their bedrooms, slowly making their way down the hall. Occasionally walking past a few moles. Some stared at them. Others bowed to them and said their thanks.
Spyro couldn't help but to stare back at them as they were walking away.
"I guess we're pretty popular around here…." Spyro assumed quietly. Sparxs rolled his eyes in the midst of a laugh.
"Well, No duh!" Sparxs laughed out as he started to fly backwards, facing Spyro and Cynder. "You two saved the world! I've even talked to some other dragons and they always ask about you two."
Sparxs muttered about how he also bragged about his side of the story in which Spyro and Cynder could assume Sparxs over exaggerated when he told his story.
"...Yeah... other people…" Cynder quietly murmurs to herself.
Spyro nuzzled her to try and cheer her up. This did make her smile a bit. Cynder shook her head, revealing a small smile. She then turned to Spyro.
"So...um... Ever have a party thrown for you... Cause I sure never had one thrown for me…" Cynder asked Spyro as they continued down the hall.
Spyro took a deep breath, looking up in thought.
"Well... Only if you count my dragonfly parents... It usually involved mushroom stew and a slab of sheep meat…" Spyro explained with an almost nervous smile.
Sparxs scratched his head a little. He was suddenly having an odd thought.
"You know... Now that I'm older... How did our parents find you a piece of meat?" Sparxs asked Spyro. Spyro's eyes widen a bit. They both had shocked, but silly smiles.
"G-Good question... Maybe we should ask them one of these days…." Spyro said, unsure how to approach that subject.
Sparx and Spyro both chuckled, Cynder smiled a bit at the laughter of the Brothers, but this made her sigh as well.
Spyro and Sparx's laughter soon trailed off. The two brothers noticed Cynder was looking away.
Something was bothering her.
".. Did we say something wrong...?" Sparxs asked, rubbing his shoulder nervously. Cynder felt her gaze meet with the floor.
"... N- No... You didn't... " Cynder told them, before she stood up. "I... Haven't been outside much... I... I'll go get some fresh air…."
Cynder was quick to turn around and she started to leave the two. Spyro reached out for her
"Cynder... Wait, what is-... " But it was too late, Cynder had rushed out of the hall ".. - it...?"
Sparxs slowly crossed his arms.
"That was weird…"
Spyro slowly looked down, concerned.
"….Yeah... I'm gonna go check on her." Spyro told his brother. Sparcs tried to wave the idea off.
"Come on leave Spikey alone! She's fine! Lets have some bro time!"
"….Maybe later…" Spyro quickly turns around and goes towards where Cynder ran off to.
Spyro turned the corner and he tried to follow Cynder as she ran down the other hallway.
Spyro slowed down a little as Cynder slipped through a nearby door.
Spyro knew something was bothering her. He continued to follow her. He saw Cynder had slip through an oddly shaped door, covered in a red curtain. It seemed to lead to a balcony.
Spyro turned the corner by the door and peered through the curtains.
Spyro saw Cynder leaning on a pillar out in the Balcony. Her head was low and she looked very depressed.
There was something heavy obviously on her mind.
Spyro slowly walked past the curtains of the balcony and approached her.
"…...Cynder?" Spyro quietly called.
Cynder turned around, becoming startled.
"Oh! S-Spyro…." Cynder yelped out, slightly clutching her chest. Spyro must of spooked her.
Sorry I scared you, and…. I… I don't mean to bother you but…. are you alright?"
Cynder tried to look away.
"I'm fine…"
Spyro gently put a hand on her left cheek.
"I know some things are wrong….. It's okay…. Go on... you can tell me."
Cynder couldn't help but to feel safe as she stared into his eyes.
" I... I don't think... I don't really want to bother you with it…" She said to him, with a quiet and shaky voice. Spyro's eyes slowly showed her that he was already bothered by her well-being. He cared deeply for her
'When you're upset... It's going to bother me…"
Cynder rubbed the hand that was on his cheek. She could tell that he didn't like to see her so upset.
It was a moment before she let herself speak.
It's just…. that you…. you reminded me of... the fact that I don't know anything about... My parents…" She confessed took Spyro's hand away and she shied away.
She leaned over the reeling of the balcony, almost wanting to avoid this entire conversation.
"... It's silly... Thinking about it now…" She added with a deep sigh.
Spyro never thought about her parents before and regretted not thinking about it before.
Spyro walked up to her and leaned on the balcony next to her.
"I... also don't know much about my parents… Of course…. I mean…. I have adoptive parents ... but... I kinda know how you feel."
Cynder and Spyro fell silent for a moment. They both didn't know how to continue this conversation. The two wanted to express their own feelings, but it was easier said then done.
Spyro eventually turns his head towards her.
"It's OK... to be sad about this... I can't blame you…" Spyro expressed, reassuring her that her feelings were not at all silly. Spyro sat up a little straighter. "... And one day….. you are going to find your parents….. I just know it…"
He nuzzled her and they both kind of let themselves blush.
"You think so…..?" Cynder quietly asked him in a very sweet voice.
"Yeah…. One day…."
Spyro turned and he couldn't help but to notice a spectacular view. Cynder noticed the excitement that appeared upon Spyro's expression.
"Man! That sunset is beautiful!" Spyro pointed out, feeling his excitement escape his body. Cynder slowly looked over.
The sun set was over the great city of Warfang. The two admired how the orange clouds were beginning to turn purple and it surrounded the entire field of Avalar.
Cynder's frown slowly softens into a small smile.
"...Yes... It's very beautiful…"
The two stare at the sunset for a while.
Spyro was shy, but he was still pondering on how to make Cynder feel better. He used his paws to drum on the feeling nervously.
Spyro glances at Cynder. Cynder couldn't hide her pain. It was all too clear for Spyro.
After a bit of silence, Spyro takes a deep breath.
"What if I was to make you a promise…"
Cynder's head perked up, curious. She turned to him and stared.
"A... Promise...?" She asked him.
Peering deeply into her eyes, both with hope and confidence. Spyro scooted closer…
" ...What if I promised... That one day... I will find your parents?" Spyro slowly proposed. Cynder's eyes slowly widen. She felt her heart skipping a little. She didn't even know what to say. She could hardly believe what he was suggesting.
Why would he go so far….?
"D-Do your really mean that...?" Cynder nervously asks him.
Spyro smiled as he gave her a confident nod.
"I promise…"
Cynder stared, but soon, she couldn't contain her feelings. She felt her excitement begin to take over.
Never had she thought that a dragon would ever go so far to help her.
She didn't even think about her parents at this moment. All she could think about was how kind and caring this dragon was.
Her excitement, and affection overwhelmed her. Before she could maintain control her arms flew across Spyro's neck.
"Oh! Spyro! …." Cynder found herself hugging him tighter, shortly after their hug began to settle. "…...T-Thank you…. for caring about me…."'
Spyro embraced their hug. The two dragons felt warmer inside.
"... Don't thank me just yet... This is only the beginning…"
[The next day, Warfang Streets]
The Festival was alive!
Balloons and noise makers were going off as moles made the most of it on this great occasion.
Cyril was holding onto a list of chores he had to complete for the festival. He was obviously frustrated. Be eas mumbling to himself as he went through his list.
"...Okay... Drinks... Food... Chairs... Hmm... Hmmmm
He could hear a small band of moles, slowly practicing their instruments. He was trying to think about the remainder of his list, but the music kept making his ear twitch.
"Will you... Will you... CAN YOU KEEP IT DOWN!? We're not even ready!" He yelled out towards the band of moles. The moles slowly quit their practice. Cyril then suddenly turned to a Mole who was messing with a massive cake. "AND YOU! PUT THAT DOWN! It's fine where it IS!"
Terrador, Volteer, and Spyro and Cynder walked into the room all shocked by Cyrils yelling.
"I've never seen him like that…" Spyro slowly whispers to the guardians.
Volteer lowered his head to his head.
"You don't wanna know what happened at the last festival…" Volteer nervously said, remembering how Cyril acted back then.
Both Spyro and Cynder gulped. Terrador wasn't paying attention.
Volteer slowly turned to the Earth guardian. Terrador's eyes felt glued to the ground. He even looked upset. Volteer slowly lifted up his head.
"Terrador? Are you alright?" Volteer asked his fellow guardian. Terrador's eyes closed, obviously in some sort of pain.
"Yes…." Terrador responded. However, he slowly opened his eyes, revealing a serious expression. "... It's….. just... I don't know how to tell everyone about... Ignitus…"
Spyro felt his head lower a bit. Sparxs crossed his arms and turned to Terrador
"People are going to ask…" Sparxs reminded him. Volteer nodded, agreeing with the small dragonfly.
"It is not going to be easy... So we might as well not expect it to be so…" Volteer wisely stated.
Cynder nudged Spyro with her muzzle, trying to take Spyro's attention from hid feelings
"….Hey... Think we could get something to eat already...?" Cynder politely asked. She was beginning to become hungry.
Spyro just kind of sighed as he answered.
"... Yeah…"
Cyril had a realization when Cynder said that.
"Drat!" Cyril turned to a group of moles. He began yelling again. "LISTEN UP! I FORGOT ABOUT SETTING UP THE FOOD FOR DINNER! MOLES SET IT UP RIGHT AWAY! AND THAT FOOD BETTER NOT BE RAW!"
Volteer, Terrador, Cynder, Spyro, and Sparx all walked out of the room to avoid getting yelled at Cyril.
"I BELIEVE... I can get some other moles to cook us some lamb. I too am hungry….." Terrador mentions as the group leaves the area. Sparxs then started to flutter ahead of them.
"You lizards can have you lamb..." Sparxs began to leave the group. "I'm going out looking for butterflies. I'll see you guys around!"
Cynder watched Sparxs fly away. She turned to Spyro with a very confuse smile "...Sparxs.. .. eats butterflies?"
Spyro couldn't help but to scratch the back of his head.
"... It's a weird sight... Now that I'm older…" He stated with an awkward chuckle.
Terrador walks by Volteer. He gives him a small nod.
"Let us gather the moles for lunch…" Terrador suggests as he began to lead the way. Volteer shortly followed.
Spyro and Cynder watch the Guardian's walk away from them.
".. Hmm... " Spyro looks down in thought.
Cynder walks by Spyro. As she did so she rubbed Spyro's cheek and crossed her tail with a hint of affection.
"... So what do you want to do first...?" She asked him sweetly.
Spyro was blushing. He didn't dare say what was actually on his mind. All he could think about was Cynder for that small moment.
"... Uh…"
Spyro shuffled his feet nervously.
"M-Maybe we could take a walk outside, we haven't really explored around here... Maybe we will meet some new people…" Spyro suggested nervously.
"Mmmm…" Cynder was a little reluctant to go, but nodded yes.
Spyro nuzzled her and started to walk to the exit of the temple with Cynder following him. Cynder held a worried look on her face which Spyro noticed.
Spyro stared at Cynder as he was walking around the city, along the brick roads. The two walked away from the lively festival.
"... Everything okay...?" He asked her, feeling concerned.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine…" She quickly lied.
Spyro looked at her, not being fooled. Cynder nervously looked at him and saw that he wasn't going to give in to her nervous lie.
"Cynder I know there's something wrong... You don't have to be nervous around me... just tell me" Spyro insured her with a soft voice.
Spyro saw Cynder was beginning to blush. She wasn't sure how to tell him.
"Do you remember what I said back in the volcano...?"
This made Spyro stop. He stared at Cynder. He did hear her confess, telling him that she loved him.
However, did she truly feel that way….?
"... Y-Yeah…"
"... R... Really?" Cynder asked very shyly. She was nervous so she just kind of looked around.
Even Spyro was nervous. He slowly scratched the back of his neck
"Was it... Did you…" Spyro shook his head. He didn't know how to confirm her feelings.
"... Was it... Did you tell me... That you... That you…"
Spyro blushed as he looked up.
"….Did you say….. that…. you ...Love me...?"
Cynder felt herself smile nervously. She bit her bottom lip. She didn't lift her head, but Spyro saw her eyes peer up at him nervously.
"Yes….."
They both didn't know what to say and were blushing, but they were both staring into each other's eyes, thinking about one another.
Spyro opened his mouth to speak.
Then they heard Spyro's brother calling them.
"HEEEY! GUYS! You two LOST!? The party is THIS WAY!"
Spyro and Cynder winched with spoiled expression. The two dragons stare at each other disappointed.
"There's my brother... Ruining the moment…"
Cynder sighs deeply, even though she was still smiling.
"Like always...?"
Spyro then lifted up his head confidently. He step closer to Cynder, almost with affection.
"Hey….. How about we talk about this at night... Sparx usually falls asleep pretty early."
"Alright... -"
"COME ON! THEY GOT COTTON CANDY!" Sparxs called out again.
Both Spyro and Cynder ran towards the festival, both too shy to slow down.
" Or.. I could just eat him…" Cynder joked, annoyed by Spyro's annoying brother.
Spyro giggled to her comment.
"Come on Cynder!"
Spyro and Cynder run into the festival. The two looked around, joyful.
"... Huh... that's odd... Was there this many people a moment ago...?" Spyro asked, slightly amazed by the sudden crowd. Cynder slowly stepped closer.
"You know... You're right... It's definitely more crowded." Cynder confirmed for Spyro.
Spyro and Cynder noticed Cyril was walking over to them.
"Ah... Hi Spyro and Cynder... The festival is ready…" Cyril said to them, sounding exhausted.
Spyro just kind of chuckled to the site of Cyril.
"….Boy... You look a little tired…" Spyro remarked.
"Yeah... I might sit down for a second... After I check on a few more things…" Cyril agreed. He slowly walked past then, sluggishly leaving Spyro and Cynder to the festival.
Spyro and Cynder looked around. They saw there were booths and stands all around. They saw that the people were already walking around and buying things.
"Hey! This is actually really cool!" Spyro comments. Sparxs slowly crossed his arms.
"Yeah…. I'm sure everyone needed a break like this…" Sparxs figured.
After a moment of looking around, some people began staring at Spyro and Cynder, as they started to whisper amongst themselves.
Spyro smiled, not really thinking about what the group of people was talking about. Spyro just merely looked around.
However, Cynder was the one who felt uneasy. Her troubled past made her feel really nervous and afraid. Cynder heard her name through their whispers.
Cynder walked up to Spyro, particularly grabbing on to his arm, trying to move him forward.
"C... Can we find some food...?" She asked in desperation.
Cynder moved closer to Spyro's face.
"... P-Please?"
Spyro didn't fully know why Cynder was acting like this, but he agreed with her when his stomach growled at him.
"Sure…."
Spyro gave her a nod Then he turned to Cyril who was resting his back on a local picnic table.
"Hey... Cyril do you know where we can get some food?" Spyro asked, calling over to him. Spyro and Cynder watched as Cyril seemed startled by the sudden question, lifting his head up.
" Oh, uh... Yes... There should be a booth over there that serves lamb and steak... Here ... I'll give you some money to buy some…" Cyril held out his paws. Spyro and Cynder slowly walk over to him.
Cynder didn't dare to let go of Spyro's arm.
Cyril handed Spyro some gold coins. Spyro clutched the coins tighter.
"Thanks Cyril…"
Cynder tugged Spyro's arm.
Spyro glances at her with a short pause.
"Okay... Shall we? Spyro leads her towards the booth.
Sparxs crossed his arms as he followed.
Spyro tried to pull Cynder closer. He whispers to her.
"Hey... It's going to be okay... There is nothing to worry about…" Spyro trued to tell her.
"B-But what if people…"
"Hey... Who helped me fight all those monsters and defeated Malefor?" Spyro interrupted her with a calm and soothing voice.
"... I-I…. I did…"
Spyro pulled her even closer, and Cynder couldn't help but to peer into Spyro's confident stare.
"You're as much as a hero as I am... No matter what anybody says... Ok?" Spyro reminded her before he gave Cynder a quick nuzzle.
Sparxs was watching them carefully as they approached the booth's.
Spyro slide his coinage on the table of the booth.
"... Two of your juiciest lamb chops please…" Spyro politely asked.
Cynder started to forget about the crowd around her. She kept her mind on Spyro.
"... Can I have mine extra tender please?" Cynder added to their order.
"Make that four!"
Spyro and Cynder turn. A red and pink dragon walks over to the booth. Spyro and Cynder turn slowly to them.
"Hm…?" Spyro noticed that the red dragon was his age. They looked pretty similar besides the color.
Cynder noticed the female pink dragon was her age as well. The pink dragon was also wearing a heart shaped necklace.
The pink dragon whined a little.
"But Flaaame!... I didn't bring any coins with me…" The pink dragoness reminded.
Flame turned to the pink dragon with a charming smile.
"Have no fear, Ember! I'll pay for both of us!" Flame assured her. This made Ember a little happier as she wagged her tail.
"Awwww! Thanks Flame!" Ember thanked sweetly. Flame then looked at Spyro and Cynder.
"Hey... You two are Spyro and Cynder right?" Flame asked, wanting to speak to them.
Cynder tried to hide her face, but had no luck. She was already with Spyro, which neant she couldn't just hide from them.
"Yeah... Why?" Spyro confirmed for him.
"Well, it's an honor to meet you! Ember and I are big fans of yours!" Flame was proud to state.
Spyro started to feel concerned for Cynder as well. He began to feel a little over protective over her.
"Big fans of... Me? Or the both of us?" Spyro asked, wanting to be sure.
"Urm... Well! I think your both cool!" Flame replied not sounding very convincing. Flame slides his coins on the booth. "I also heard you two lost your temple... That was like your guy's home… right?"
Ember's tail was still wagging slowly.
"Like, where are you two staying now...?" Ember asked them, even though it might of been a touchy subject for them.
"Uh... The Warfang temple…. Why?" Spyro answered them. That was when Flame's eyes grew with excitement.
"Wait really?! We are staying there as well! The guardians agrred to train us…" Flame explained with an overwhelming excitement escaping his voice.
Cynder looked at Spyro, with her eyebrow raising.
"I didn't know they trained anybody else." Cynder thought out loud.
"Yeah me, either…" Spyro thought as well.
Ember seemed to be staring at Spyro. Nobody, however, noticed her admiring him.
"... We were being trained until Warfang was attacked... Everyone ran underneath Warfang soon after the Golem attacked us... " Flame explained before he started to scratch his head with a small smile. "Me and Ember just got back to Warfang... Just to find out the war is over…"
Ember was silent. When Spyro glanced over at her, she quickly looked away.
Cynder found that to be odd.
Spyro was too involved with Flame to even notice. He looked back at Flame.
"Have you spoken to the Guardians yet?" Spyro asked.
No... Not really…." Flane admitted slowly. "We decided to check out the festival first…. and... Hey, we met you guys so that's awesome!"
Spyro slowly felt comfortable talking with Flame. He enjoyed his company.
"Hehe… Yeah. Maybe we could hang out sometime... We don't really have any friends... Your really the only dragons we have me, not including the guardians."
"Yeah s-"
"Definitely!" Ember interrupted Flame suddenly, becoming overly excited.
Everyone was a little surprised by Embers interruption of Flame.
Spyro eventually shakes his head with a smile. He turned back to Flame.
"So are you going to be staying at the Warfang Temple with us as well?" Spyro asked, resuming the conversation.
"Maybe... That is... If the Guardian's still want to continue training us…" Flame expressed his concerns.
Ember hops on the counter, using her hind legs to stand herself up.
"Yeah! Maybe you can even show us some slick moves…" Ember suggested before she winks at Spyro. "…..Eh, Spyro...?'
Everyone didn't know how to respond to Ember's suggestion. Cynder was trying to hide her growl under her breath.
"Uuh…. Ember…" Flame was about to say something about Ember's manner involving the booth.
unfortunately for her the Dragon working at the counter stepped in.
"Madam…. Could you please ….g
Get off the counter…" The dragon politely in forced the rules.
Ember reluctantly jumped off the counter. Cynder's glare never left her though.
Spyro reached out a hand, offering to shake Flames hand.
"Yeah! Me and Cynder are always open to making new friends…" He tild Flame, happy to meet them. "Let's meet up! …. After this festival of course…"
Flame shakes Spyro's hand.
"Yeah! Totally... I'm totally down! I know a lot of cool places in Warfang!" Flame bragged as be had a large grin, accepting Spyro's offer for friendship.
Cynder slowly stepped closer to Spyro.
…. Cynder tugged his arm.
Spyro wasn't paying attention as Cynder didn't let ho of his arm.
"Ah! So you must of lived here for-" Spyro continued before Cynder tugged his arm again. "... - For a while! I have been here-"
His arm gets tugged again.
"... - For a while... Um…" Spyro looks at Cynder concerned.
Cynder gestures Spyro to walk with her.
Spyro looks at Flame and Ember.
"…..Give us a minute?"
Spyro and Cynder walked out of ear shot of Ember and Flame. Ember was staring at Spyro as Spyro and Cynder walked away.
As so as they were a comfortable distances away for Cynder, Spyro turned to her.
"What is it? Is everything ok?" He asked her trying to whisper. Cynder was nervously trying to watch over her shoulder.
"Yeah its just... that Ember girl…. She's acting weird around you and... I think she…"
"Has a crush on me?" Spyro guessed. Cynder almost felt relieved, however she didn't like the idea of another dragoness trying to push herself onto him.
"Yeah... she seems obsessed with you…" Cynder tried to explain. Spyro gave her a sma shrug.
"From what I'm gathering is... Flame has been eyeing us the same way…" Spyro tried to explain to her."... They're just... Fans!"
Cynder looked away, showing frustration.
"Yeah, Flame maybe... But Ember no…"
Spyro looked back towards Flame and Ember slowly. Cynder looked at Spyro. She stepped closer.
"... Can't do... Other people, Spyro... I just... Never grew up that way…" Cynder nervously said to him. Spyro turned back to her.
They fell silent for a moment before Spyro gently grabbed her shoulder.
"Hey…. I think these are good people." Spyro tried to reassure Cynder. Cynder looked down, feeling doubtful. "... I think we'll be able to open up and maybe…. Be a part of society…"
Cynder felt her eyes peer towards the ground. She then slowly looked at Spyro, nervously.
"M-Maybe…"
Spyro nuzzled her wuickly and caringly, which made her smile and blush.
The two stared inti one another's eyes, causing Cynder to feel much, much safer.
They then heard the worker, call for their order of lamb and steak. Spyro and Cynder turned.
"Our food is ready…." Spyro whispered out loud.
"Ok…"
Before they started moving, Spyro saw that Cynder was still quite fearful. Spyro tucked his tail slowly around Cynder's. This caused Cynder to flinch, but then she slowly relaxed.
She knew Spyro was going to protect her. She kept that thought and trued to hold onto it as the two slowly walk back to Flame and Ember.
They gook notice that Sparxs was telling them a story.
"And so Spyro, Cynder, and I went inside the destroyer's body…" Sparx leaned in closer to Flame as he continued. "…And let me tell you... It was scarier than you think…"
"Really...?" Flames asked in awe, as his head tilted slightly.
"What are you doing Sparx?" Spyro asked as Spyro and Cynder approached. Flame and Ember turned ti them with large grins
"He's telling us Your awesome tales you and Cynder had!" Flame explained happily. Spyro shook his head, little baffled.
"Hehe, there not that awes-"
"Oh they are!" Flame assured.
Sparx chuckled to the way Flame responded quickly.
Ember was blushing as she stirred her food a little.
"...I certainly want to hear more…" Ember slowly cooed in her own delight.
"Yeah... But a lot happened... And….." Spyro looked at Cynder, showing a look of empathy " ...And we uh…. We both have been through a lot…"
Flame tried to scoot a little closer.
'Well, at least tell us a little more about the cool parts…" Flame's asked kindly, before his expression showed a bit of empathy as ...don't tell us anything that's still... Hurts…"
There was a small silence, before the dragons actually started to feel a little comfortable around each other.
Ember stared at Cynder. She almost wanted to let go of her smile, but she didn't waver. "... So what was it like...?"
"What was...What like...?" Cynder asked slowly as she started to get nervous.
Ember leaned slowly closer to Cynder.
"Being chained... To someone so... Legendary?"
Cynder: Well, I'm very close him so…..it-it was kinda... Fun…. in ….a way….
"Mhm, I bet it was…" Ember let her eyes glare at Cynder. She held a very small, but knowing smile. Spyro was listening in on Ember's and Cynder's conversation.
"Yeah, well…" Spyro started to feel really uncomfortable. He then takes this moment to try to change the subject. "Hey! Um... Flame! Is there a place where we can get a drink?"
"Oh!" Flame turned and started to lead the way. "Warfang has this real nice fountain for that... Let me show you!"
"Alright -"
Ember suddenly moves in and snuggles up against Spyro. "Annnd Let me... Escort you…"
Spyro felt himself perk up in awkwardness. Ember was trying to snuggle in real close.
"Uh! ...No.. No…. I think I'm fine…"
"No! No! I insist…." Ember replied, putting pressure on Spyro.
Cynder then pushed Ember away from Spyro with her shoulder and quickly snuggles up to him, herself.
Ember felt her body hit the ground.
"I think, He can walk there just fine!" Cynder said angrily.
"Fine…" Ember pouted under her growl towards Cynder.
"Ehehehe..." Flame laughed awkwardly*
"Eheh... Eheheh... Heh…" Spyro laughs nervously.
With that settled, Flame slowly lead the way.
While Cynder secretly kept her eye on Ember for the rest of the night….
This left the rest of the night to be filled with uneventful awkwardness…
Leaving the dragons to leave the festival early. Spyro left earlier than everyone.
... Right before they started talking about Ignitus and his sacrifice...
[After the festival, Warfang Temple.]
Spyro was walking alone with Sparxs in the dark hallway.
Sparxs fluttered close to Spyro's face, about to freak out.
"Wait... Your meeting Cynder...? Alone...? In the dark!?" Sparxs repeated, on the verge if panicking.
"Yeah...? Why?" Spyro carelessly asked.
Sparx looked scared. He looked like he began to bite his own nails.
"She could hurt you ….or worse!"
Spyro sighed, before he circked around to face Sparxs.
"Sparxs... You gotta drop that…. You have to give her another chance... You gotta understand, that wasn't her! …..She was being controlled!" Spyro tried to explain to Sparxs.
Sparxs crossed his arms and he looked away. Sparxs was stubborn and he didn't like to listen.
He didn't try to argue with his brother though….
"Yeah... Sure... Whatever…" Sparxs mumbled as he was slowly giving in. He then let out a small yawn.
He started to flutter away.
"Alright... do whatever yowant... I'm heading to bed... Yell if she hurts you…." Sparxs said as was flying away.
Spyro rolled his eyes and watched as Sparx went into his room.
Spyro turned and he walks down the hall slowly. He turns to the door of Cynder's room. He raises a fist to knock.
Hhesitates...
Then he slowly knocked.
Without saying a word. She checks the door. She looked around before turning back to Spyro
".. Come in…"
Spyro silently enters the room.
"Hey…" Spyro slowly greeted the dark dragoness.
"H-Hey…."
They both stood there in an awkward silence for a moment. Spyro slowly rubbed the back of his head.
"So... about what you said in that volcano…" Spyro brought up their earlier conversation.
Cynder blushed a little bit and so did Spyro. The two felt their feelings begin to stir in their own hearts.
"Do you... Do you still... Feel that way?" Spyro finally got to ask her.
Cynder looked down for a moment. She then looked into his eyes.
"H-How could I not... You gave me my life back…" Cynder confessed slowly.
Spyro stared at her as Cynder's gaze was fixed towards the floor. He could tell she wasn't use to this sort of conversation.
And neither was he….
Although shy, he wanted to tell her that he to felt the sane way.
The only issue was that Spyro couldn't find the right words.
After staring, motionless for a while, Spyro finally came up with an idea.
Spyro put his hand on her cheek and looked at her beautiful emerald eyes. Cynder looked into his eyes as well.
The two fell silent as the two gazed into each other's eyes.
Then before Cynder could say anything.
Spyro kissed her on the cheek.
Cynder's eyes flickered in a feeling of surprise. She didn't exactly know how to express it.
She felt...
…..A little more whole.
"Do you.…...Do you truly…" Cynder used her sitting position to nervously scooted closer. "Do you truly feel... The same way?"
Spyro gave her a slow, but very firm nod.
Yeah….Yeah I do ….. and to be honest….. I kinda always have
Cynder didn't know what to say….
Soon, after a while, Spyro and Cynder found themselves cuddled up, nearly lying on their backs on the floor as they leaned on her bed.
"... When we... Met... I never once thought you were a monster…" Spyro started to express, as they were alone, and the moment just felt right.
"Not... Once?" She slowly asked him. Spyro slowly shook his head.
"... Listen... I knew there was good in you... Back then I mean…" Spyro scratched his chest nervously. "... Hehe... Uh... I'm not like Ignitus I guess... I'm not good with words...
Spyro and Cynder both inched closer.
Spyro hugged her hip. Cynder felt her claws naturally rest on Spyro's chest.
"I guess what I mean to say is... That you shouldn't worry about what... people want you to be... You just... Have to be... Who you want to be…"
Spyro felt Cynder's claw that was resting on his chest, slowly clench into a tight fist. Spyro could almost feel her emotions.
Cynder smiled at Spyros words and a small tear falls down her face.
"Spyro...?"
"Yeah?"
"I…. I…. I love you…"
Spyro rose up his arm and stroked the back of Cynder's head.
"... I... Love you too…"
Spyro leaned into Cynder. He rested his forehead against Cynder's.
".. Don't be scared anymore... Okay?"
Cynder closes her eyes. Her emotions started to take over and her body started to feel warm and light.
"... I'll try…"
