Spyro and Cynder were still asleep and were still hugging each other.
The door slowly opened as a very tired Sparxs flew in. He let out a yawn.
"Morning fa-" That was when he noticed how close the dragons were sleeping together. "-WHAT THE?!"
Spyro woke up hearing Sparx. Spyro let out his own yawn. He started to rub his eyes.
"Sparxs…. Be quiet, she's trying to sleep…" Spyro whispered in a groggy way.
"What's she doing here?!" Sparx seemed to yell, but was a little quieter, making his voice sound harsh.
"She's sleeping…"
"With you?!" Sparx harshly whispered.
Spyro manages to quietly slip out of bed, for he was trying to not wake up Cynder.
Spyro got in Sparx's way, trying to push out of the room.
"What happened to your manners?" Spyro began to lecture.
"What do you mean Manners!?" Sparx shot back, confused.
Spyro quickly used his tail to close the door quickly. Shutting Sparxs out of the room.
"Why don't I just wake you in the crack of Dawn! Sparxs!" Spyro seemed to let his anger slip, and yell out.
Spyro then heard a quiet yawn from the bed. He turned around to see Cynder waking up. Spyro realized he had been too loud.
"Oh, sorry... I didn't mean to wake you Cynder…." Spyro apologies.
Spyro watched as she slowly slipped out of bed
"... It's ok."
She walked up to him slowly and she nuzzled his cheek.
Then there was a knock on their door. Cynder tilted her head.
"Wonder who that could be?" She pondered. Spyro slowly rolled his eyes.
"I'm not sure ... .probably just Sparx again…" Spyro said as he stared at the door with an annoyed glare, thinking it was indeed just his brother.
Spyro walked to the door and he opened it. To his surprise, he saw a mole standing in the doorway.
"Master Spyro, Master Cynder, the guardians have asked you to meet them at the training room." The mole relayed to the young dragons, giving them a small bow. " I will escort you there if you don't know how to get there…."
"Uh... Yeah! Sure… " Spyro shortly agreed, before he held up a paw. "Just give us two seconds to wake up…"
Cynder yawns. She then looked at Spyro.
"We might as well go now... It could lead to breakfast…" Cynder suggested. Spyro stared at her for a moment. He looks down, thinking about it.
"Sure, I could use some breakfast." Spyro slowly decided to agree with her, finding himself a bit hungry.
The mole then slowly nods before he turned and gestured them to follow.
"...Then follow me…"
The mole led Spyro and Cynder as they walked to the dinning hall.
When they arrived they saw Ember and Flame sitting at one of the long tables. Flame saw them as they entered the room and he waved them over.
"I shall take you to the guardians after you both enjoy your breakfast." The mole informed Spyro and Cynder as the two examine the room. Spyro and Cynder was too busy noticing Flame and Ember to notice that the mole began to walk away from them.
Spyro was the first to approach Flame and Ember as the two young dragons enter the dinning area.
Spyro let out a chuckled as he shook his head.
"W-... Wow! Flame? Ember? Spyro greeted them through his slight chuckle. Cynder was, however, nervous to be around Ember so it took her a moment to approach them as well. "I thought we weren't gonna meet up until later?"
Ember eyes Cynder with an odd and mysterious smile. Flame gave Spyro an understanding nod.
"Oh, we met up with Terrador last night... He told us our training is still going to continue…" Flame explained to the purple dragon. "So guess... We'll be staying here for a while…"
"Oh, that's cool!" Spyro let out, actually glad to hear it.
"Yeah…" Cynder let, not being as excited. She almost didn't like the idea of having Ember around.
"Come sit with us! We are having breakfast!" Flame suggested, sitting up a bit straighter.
"Oh! Us too." Spyro declared, sounding joyful.
Ember somehow caught Spyro's attention, she patted the seat next to her, offering him to sit next to her.
However, Cynder quickly saw her opportunity to block Ember's action and she quickly sat in the spot Ember was offering, so Spyro wouldn't sit there himself.
This made Ember growl at Cynder in secret.
Cynder tried to not let it bother her. She just smiled it off. She turned to the others.
"When is breakfast going to be ready...?" Cynder asked Flame, trying to not let Ember get to her.
Spyro sits down next to Flame, trying to ignore Ember's gazing eyes.
Flame thinks about it, causing him to just shrug.
"The moles usually just bring in a tray... At least right around this time in the morning…" Flame explained.
"Sooo, What kind of food do they serve for breakfast?" Spyro asked, trying to be patient.
"Usually fish and lamb…. Nothing too special…" Flame answers, not sounding excited for it.
"They also give us a glass of milk!" Ember added, sounding cheerful.
"Sounds actually tasty...I haven't had fish in quite awhile…. like not since I lived in a swamp…." Spyro reminded himself. This made Flame sit up just a bit more.
"Oooh yeah... Sparxs did say something about you having a dragonfly family…" Flame said out loud, remembering what they had spoke about the night before.
Ember smiled sweetly at Spyro.
"Dragonflies must make good parents to raise someone as amazing as you…" Ember assumed in a quiet voice.
Spyro drummed his fingers nervously.
"... Y-Yeah…"
Sparx came to the table and heard what Flame said about his dragonfly family.
"Oh yeah! Want to hear all the times me and Spyro got in trouble?" Sparxs asked the two fir dragons.
Spyro rolled his eyes, befy turning to his brother.
"You mean all the times you got in trouble…. and I had to save you…?"
Sparxs just sort of rolled his eyes and waved him off.
"Details details!"
Everyone at the table started to slowly chuckle.
Eventually, four moles came to the table with trays of fish and lamb.
The Moles moved the trays from the cart to the table.
"Eat up young Master's... The Guardian's are waiting for you…" said the mole that had escorted Spyro and Cynder to the dinning hall.
The moles are went their own directions, leaving the dragons to enjoy their food.
Everyone took this moment to exchange glances. Then the four dragons ate.
[Hallway near the Guardian's Chamber]
"I wonder what they want to discuss this time…" Spyro began to wonder out loud.
As the four young dragons walked through the door into the guardians chamber they all saw the guardians sitting in their usual spots.
The four dragons sat down in front of the guardians slowly.
"Did you all enjoy the festival last night?" Terrador asked them first.
"Yep! It was great." Flame spoke up first. Spyro gave them a slighy nod.
"Same… I had fun…." Spyro agreed.
Cyril slowly lifted up his head, proud of himself.
"All thanks to my careful planning!" Cyril tried to brag, but this only made both Terrador and Volteer glared at Cyril
"Your planning was just yelling at Moles in a very, very, rude and obscure manner-" Volteer tried to grumble, but Cyril steppedclose, not wanting to hear it.
"Do you want me to freeze your mouth?"
"Will you two cut it out!?" Terrador butted in before the two could begin fighting.
"Now I wanted to let the four of you will be training together….. And you all will be doing this very soon..."
Spyro and Cynder exchange glances, thinking about the same thing.
Spyro nervously looked at Terrador, a little worried.
"But Cynder and I... We're still recovering…" Spyro nervously reminded him.
Terrador held up his hand.
"I said... We'll be doing it soon, Spyro... I will allow you to recover... But I wanted to tell Flame and Ember that they will start right away…"
Cynder felt a little confused.
"What... Exactly are we training for..?" *Cynder asked as she stepped closer. "Our war is over…"
"It was one of Ignitus's last wishes... Before he left to take you guys to Malefor…" Cyril explained, stepping closer to Terrador.
"It... It was...?" Spyro asked, almost surprised.
"There's more concerning reasons... But... It's nothing but rumors at the moment…" Terrador added, but it also looked like Terrador was trying to avoid that side of the subject.
"Hm…." Spyro wonder what the rumors were.
"This is gonna be awesome! We will be able to train with one two of the strongest dragons alive!" Flame couldn't contain himself as he yelped with joy.
"We aren't that strong Flame." Spyro tried to tell him as he rubbed the back of his head. This was when Volteer stepped by Terrador as well.
"Well… Think about it, Spyro…." Volteer said to Spyro. "Not even an army of adult dragons were able to take dowMalefor... But then he lost to two teenage dragons... You two are really powerful."
Cynder turned to Spyro with a big smile.
"He's right." Cynder agreed.
"Anyways training will start tomorrow…. Flame and Ember, make sure to get some rest ." Terrador informed the two fire dragons.
Both Flame and Ember stood up straight.
"Yes sir!" The two shouted in pride.
With the conversation coming to an end, the four dragons make their way out of the chamber and when they were out of ear shot Cyril slowly looked at Terrador.
"Do you think we should tell him about the rumor's?"
"Not yet…"
[Warfang Temple, Court yard]
The four dragons walk out into a courtyard that was filled with flourishing grass, flowers and there was also a beautiful dragon statue in the middle.
Flame started off a conversation by walking backwards in front of the group.
"So... Our training starts tomorrow…" Flame began slowly. "But, what in the world are we gonna do in the meantime?"
Spyro was examining the courtyard slowly, before he turned to Flame. His mind started to think about Cynder.
"Well... Cynder and I did... Make a few plans for the day…" Spyro told the two fire dragons.
Cynder looked at Spyro with a confused glance. She didn't remember any plans.
"Well I-
"Huge plans!" Spyro interrupted Cynder so she wouldn't give Spyro away. "Eheheh... Heh…'
"Well… alright! Well, you two have FUN!" Flame said to them, wishing them a good afternoon.
"Yeah…" Ember added, trying to hide her growl.
Spyro nudges Cynder to start walking off.
"... We better get going…"
"See you guys!"
"... Hm…" Sparxs flies over Spyro and Cynder and starts following them.
Cynder looks at Spyro, obviously still lost.
"Where are we going...?" She asked him.
"Figured we'd walk around Warfang... Find out a little more about dragons…" Spyro told her as he smiles at Cynder, putting on a brave face. "Gotta follow through with my promise... You know?"
"What promise?" Sparxs asked flying a bit closer.
"I promised... That I would find her parents... and I think if we learn more about dragons... We could find her parents" Spyro filled his brother in.
"Wow! That's a promise bigger than you are…" Sparx joked. "...And you're sure you can keep it?"
"...I will do anything I can!"
'Wow... he really cares about me finding my parents I... just can't believe it…" Cynder thought to herself.
"Cynder? You ok?" Spyro asked when she noticed Cynder was deep into her head. However, Spyro saw Cynder's smile grow.
Cynder shakes herself out of her own head.
"Yep! Better than ever!"
"Alright! So the first place we're going is a Library!"
Sparx's eyebrows rises slowly.
"Yaaay?" Sparxs cheered, sarcastically.
"You think that will have an answer...?" Cynded asked Spyro, a little hopeful.
Spyro just shrugged.
"Dunno... If anything... It'll tell us "where" to look…"
*As the two dragons and one dragonfly walk through town.
They saw a few dragons.
One dragon even asked for their autograph and some were just too nervous to do anything.
But, they were finally able to get to the library.
Spyro and Cynder was staring at the large entrance.
"Alright.. lets see if this place has any answers."
"Yeah…" Cynder agreed slowly.
"Coming Sparxs...?" Spyro asked before he turned around." ... Sparxs?"
They saw that Sparxs was in the middle of a crowd.
Sparxs was too busy signing autographs to be paying attention.
"...And Sparxs...the most amazing…"
Cynder shakes her head, disappointed.
"... Typical... " Cynder quietly said to herself.
Cynder turns slowly and nudges Spyro's face with her nose.
"C'mon... Lets just leave him here and go inside…" Cynder suggested, trying to ignore her frustrated feelings towards the dragonfly.
The two dragons walked into the library and were astonished by how many books there were.
It was clear that it was a big library. The two dragons saw a librarian who seemed to be an ice dragon and hhe was reading a book. They walked over to him.
"Uh, hello there…" Spyro greeted
The librarian looked up and almost jumped out of his seat to see Spyro.
"M-Master Spyro w-what are you doing h-here?" The librarian asked in shocked manner.
Spyro looked around slowly.
"Cynder and I were wondering... if you had any books about dragons…?" Spyro used his paws to get a better view of the librarian. "Maybe something about... Local dragons or something…? We''re trying to find some specific…"
Cynder looked kind of nervous as she looked to the left and noticed a couple of female dragons, obviously talking about them behind their backs, trying to not get noticed.
Cynder tried to ignore them.
A Mole walks by them. He had a name tag on him. He used a ruler to point towards the left side of the building.
"Well... if we do... it'll be near the history section. Local or not…" The mole told them slowly.
Spyro nodded and said thanks.
"Come on, Cynder…"
Cynder still looked worried, but she still followed Spyro. They made their way to the history section.
"Hmmm... Lets see…" Spyro hummed quietly.
The two start going through a lot of books.
Cynder skimmed through a few rows before asking Spyro for help.
"...Find anything...?" Cynder whispered.
"Mmmm... Not yet…" Spyro answered in a normal tone. He used his wings to fly up to the shelves higher up.
Cynder just looked around the entire lane of books, she was in deep thought about the subject.
"…..Maybe... We should get a book about Warfang…" Cyndsr suggested in her whisper.
Cynder looked around and she eventually stumbled upon a book called "The Start of the Great Dragon City Warfang".
"Hmm. Spyro I think I found something!" Cynder called out, still trying to whisper.
Spyro turns quickly. He flew back down to the floor
"What is it?" Spyro asked, too loudly.
"Shhh!" Cynder put a finger to her mouth. *
Cynder silently showed him the book. The two dragons held on to it together. They both examine it.
"But... Will it lead you... to your parents...?" Spyro asked in a doubtful whisper.
Cynder shook her head.
"…. Maybe not... but I have a hunch... it might lead you to yours…" Cynder suggested quietly.
"...Mine!?" Spyro then looked over his shoulder, realizing he was too loud. He was turned back to Cynder. "... But what about yours...?"
Cynder looked at Spyro with a soft smile.
"Spyro, you have done so much for me….. and you have even promised to find my parents... Please, let me try to do something to help you…"
"Cynder... You don't have to do anything…" Spyro reassured her shaking his head.
"I don't care! I want you to find your parents... We can work together…"
Spyro stared at the book. Spyro started to give it some thought.
Cynder pushed the book into Spyro's chest playfully.
" And if... we DO find my parents... added bonus…" Cynder added as she nuzzled her body up against Spyro's as she walked by. "All I'm saying is... I don't want you to overwork yourself…"
Spyro gave her a charming smile.
"...I'm am not ….overworking myself…"
Cynder gave the shelve one more look over, before she turned back to Spyro.
"Let's just go... I don't think there are any books that are better then that one…" Cynder suggested, ready to leavr.
Spyro smiles smugly.
"What about the book on dragonflies...?"
This made Cynder chuckle.
"True maybe we could learn about how your dragonfly family killed all those lamb…."
They both shared a small laugh. The two then walked over to a table, sat down, and the two started reading the book.
[Somewhere Unknown]
Lying in the grass was a very old female dragoness. She was all black with very old scales. She also had a few grey spikes that ran down her back.
She was fast asleep. The clouds were moving at a surreal pace. As if time was moving very fast.
A black fire ball flies towards the old dragon.
BLAAAM!
The dragoness wakes up to find herself surrounded by a pitch black fire. She was panting with fear.
"What... Is... Going... On? The elderly dragoness cried in sudden fear. She stood up and tried to avoid the fire, but wherever she went it followed.
"WHAT IS THIS FIRE!?"
"ROOOAR!"
She turned towards the roaring creature. However, it wasn't the first thing she saw. She saw a large city in the horizon.
".. Is that... Warfang?" The elderly dragoness gasped quietly.
Soon she saw a dark dragon flying from the far away city.
Her eyes widen.
"What's that!?"
She watched as the dark dragon flies closer. The first thing she noticed was its eyes. She saw that it had glowing purple eyes.
The dark dragon flies above elderly dragoness, passing her by.
The elder dragoness's gaze followed the dark dragon. Her eyes then widened when she saw where the dark dragon was going.
"... No... "
She could see her home…..
... the City of Hollow.
The dark dragon opened fire with a very thick and dark flame that rained hard on the dark looking city.
The elderly dragoness started to run towards the city of Hollow as the citizens began to scream in terror.
"NO! PLEASE! GIVE MERCY! NOT OUR HOME!" She cried in agony.
The Citizens of the city of Hollow all started to cry for the elderly dragoness.
"Oracle! ORACLE! SAVE US! PLEASE! SAVE US!"
"I'M TRYING! JUST HOLD ON!" The Orcale called back
However, the Oracle didn't realize that she was running in place and the city started to crumble and fall.
"NO! NO, NO, NO!"
Soon the Dark Flames started to engulf her entire world.
"NOOOO!" The very Elderly dragon eyes opened and she got up. She fell off her bed hard."OH NO... OH DEAR... "
The old dragon with grey spikes searched around for her cane.
"SOMEONE HELP ME! I NEED... I NEED ASSISTANCE!" cried out the Orcale.
A group of black dragons started entering the room, concerned for their Oracle. a dark dragon stepoed by her.
"Grand Elder! Are you alright!?" The young drak dragon asked her.
"NEVER MIND ME!" The orcale complained.
The elder managed to lift herself up by a wooden cane.
"I must... speak to Master Shade right away... He needs to know... about... THE FUTURE!"
The group of black dragons escorted the oracle to Master Shade. They walked through the corridors of the largest castle of Hollow
"MASTER SHADE!" The orcale called out in the form if a worried cry.
Shade was near a very large window. Shade turned to see the Oracle, very frightened.
"What is it Oracle? What have you seen!?" The large shadowy dragon asked with the sense of urgency escaping his fangs
Shade was a shadow at anyone's first glance. His body oozed of shadow from head to tail.
Even from its feet, gasses of darkness slipped between his paws. He also had pure red eyes.
Oracle used her cane to limp over to Shade. Shade was concerned for the Oracle's health.
"BAD THINGS, MY ROYAL GUARDIAN! Very... Very bad things... "
The Oracle lands on her knees as he reaches the top of the stairs.
The Oracle was panting hard.
"Please... My Elder... Rest…" Shade begged.
"No time... No time... the Darkest days are upon us!" The Oracle cried further.
"Do you mean Malefor...?" Shade quickly asked.
"No! No! ... This Demon has already defeated the Dark Master…" The Oracle corrected.
"WHAT!?" Shade takes a step back. "Who? And-... And when?"
"I am not sure... but from my Visions... He comes from Warfang... he burnt... everything... with an Even darker flame than yours…" The Oracle started to explain in a calmer, but still very heavy pant.
Shade's head perks up a little.
"Darker than my flame!?" Shade asked as he starts to pace. He starts to think bout this. "So he's a Shadow Dragon...?"
"No... No Sir... …"
Shade turns and growls, becoming impatient.
"Then WHAT IS HE!?" He demanded.
Oracle finally catches her breath
" ... Its... Its a young,... Purple Dragon…"
"...What?"
Shade stared at the Oracle for a moment.
Then he thought about his options.
He walks over to a very large window that shows the large city of Hollow.
"...Hmmm…"
"What... are we going to do?" The Oracle asked as she limped a little closer.
"... I need to see... Necron... " The large shadow dragon explained. "He still lives in the dark part of the Swamps... Yes?"
"Y-Yes he does…" The Oracle nervously answers. Shade then turned to the guards that had escorted the Oracle into his chamber.
"Alright guards... bring the Oracle to her room and make sure she gets some rest…" Shade order woth a stirn, but calm tone. "...I'll head to the swamp…."
"Yes, Sir!"
Shade started towards the door.
"...And double the guards…"
[The Dark Part of the Swamp]
After traveling through most of the Swamo, Shade eventually saw a small hut.
By the side of this small and beat up hut, was a green and black dragon, whose name was Necron.
He was about the same age as Spyro and was about the same height. Shade slowly lands near the trees.
Shade and Nercon did not see eye to eye, but for what Shade had in mind.
…. Nercon was ideal for the job…
Shade soon walks towards Necron. He stands a distance away.
"…..Necron...?" Shade called.
Necron didn't even turn. After a moment, Shade began to wonder if he was heard by the posion dragon. He went to speak again, but Nercon spoke up first.
"…. I told you not to come around here... "Master"..." The posion dragon warned, coldly.
"...I have a job for you…" Shade tole him, cutting to the chase.
Nercon's expression didn't really change. He left Shade sitting there in silence for a moment. Shade knew Nercon didn't want to listen to him.
"….What's the job...?" Necron asked without turning to Shade.
"...I need you to spy on the purple dragon in Warfang…." Shade told him without telling him too much detail onto the reasoning behind this demand.
Necron looked surprised. Nercon turned his head.
"The purple dragon...? Spyro? Why?" Necron questioned quickly.
"... Hmmm? So you heard of him? You even know his name...?" Shade out together slowly.
NlNecron walked over to a camp fire and started picking at it, trying to keep the flames alive.
"So? People talk... Maybe if you weren't ordering people around all the time... trying to protect yourself... you would hear what your people have to say…" Nercon rudely explains.
Shade didn't decline anything.
" ... My people are in danger …" He told the posion dragon.
"Pfft... Yeah from you…", Nervon mocked, carelessly.
"... The Oracle had a vision…"
There was a moment of silence.
This got Necron's attention...
Necron throws his stick into the fire, as he lifts his head. Finally listening*
"... What kind of vision...?"
"That this…. Spyro... will destroy this kingdom with a dark flame."
Necron smirked.
"You know that oracle has been wrong before... Want me to remind you what it cost you?" Nercon threated to remind the large shadow dragon.
Shade growled at him.
"Do not forget... About... The girl... you have lost…" Shade shot back. Shade walked over to Necron and got in his face. "... You didn't listen to the Oracle then... and look what happened…"
Shade turned to start walking away.*
Necron was obviously angry that Shade had brought up a rough subject.
"The Oracle was right then... Don't spy on Spyro... see if the "rest" of your home... doesn't just go up in flames…" Shade warned in a threatening way.
Necron looked away.
"If you don't want your past... to repeat itself... head for Warfang... Before it's too late…" Shade suggested coldly.
"…..Fine.."
Shade stopped in his tacks. He smiled. He didn't turn quite yet.
"…..What was that...?" Shade asked, wanting to hear the posion dragon repeat himself.
"... I said Fine!"
Nercon didn't even see the shadow dragon appear near him. Necron was startled by how close he was.
Shade quickly handed him a compass. Nercon stared at it confused.
"…. Thanks, but I already know the way there…" Nercon grumbled, unamused.
Shade shaked his head, quickly declining the compasses purpose.
"No... this item allows you to contact me and even give me pictures…" Shade explained as he tapped the compass with a claw. "... And of course point you North…"
Necron sighed and he clutched the compass tighter.
"...Fine…" Necron tucked it under his wing.
Necron tried to walk away without gazing upon Shade's obvious smile.
"…..Good luck Young... Young Necron…" Shade said, as he was glad to have tasked Nercon with this task, despite their hatered towards one another.
Necron turned before he was out of sight.
"... Get one thing straight Shade... I'm not doing this for you…" Nercon stated boldly.
Shade smirks, almost wanting to let out a wicked laugh.
" … But of course…"
