"And where the hell have you been?" Satoshi asked as Sayuri stumbled into their home.
"What do you care?" she asked tears in her eyes. "Why don't you go ask Ritsu to share your bed tonight. She can take your punches too because I am done."
"You're done?" he shouted causing her to flinch back. "You're done?" he repeated in a calmer voice. "Fine. Be done. Get out of my house."
"What?" Sayuri asked her face losing all color at his words.
"Get out." He growled.
"No." She said with a disbelieving laugh. It was her who should be kicking him out. He was the cheater. He was the abuser.
"Yes, get out of my house. Leave the clothes I paid for and the shoes I bought and get out of my house." He said advancing on her.
"Fuck you Satoshi." Sayuri said tired of being obedient.
"Fuck me?" he asked. "Fuck me!"
"Yes! Fuck you! Fuck you! You abusive cheating asshole!" she said shoving him.
He raised his hand but stopped himself from hitting her. Pointing a finger at her he said, "Don't provoke me."
"Fuck you." she spat out again pushing past him.
He grabbed her arm pushing her back towards the door shouting, "I said get out!"
Twisting in his grasp she shoved him then slapped his face when he wouldn't let go. Furious for the hit he backhanded her into the wall. She crumpled to the floor balling herself into the fetal position.
"Sayuri?" he asked kneeling down over her. "Hey?" Crying she slapped his hands away as he tried to brush her hair from her face. "No. No. No." He soothed catching her hands. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. Come here. Shhh."
She cried out in pain as her pulled her body up and into his lap.
"Shh. Shh. Don't cry sweet girl. I'm sorry. Don't cry." He soothed rocking her in his arms. "I'm sorry about Ritsu-san. She meant nothing. You're the only one I care about. I love you."
"Cut!" director Anna yelled but Kyoko and Kuon staid a moment longer in their embrace.
"You, ok?" Kuon asked in a whisper.
"Yes. You?" Kyoko replied nuzzling his chest.
Releasing a deep sigh he answered, "no."
They had to separate though. He had to let her go as he saw Sho approach them. The musician had a concerned look on his face and a bottle of water in his hand.
"Hey you alright?" Sho asked in such an endearing tone that it was off-putting.
Biting her tongue Kyoko forced a smile up at her pretend boyfriend.
"I'm great!" She enthused jumping up from Kuon's arms ignoring the hand Sho was offering her.
"Here Tsuruga to cool you down." Sho said holding the bottle of water out to Kuon.
"Thanks." Kuon said with a polite smile. He noted the flash of annoyance in Sho's eyes as he took the bottle.
"Are you excited?" Sho asked nodded at Momose-san sitting in a chair reading her script. "She's pretty cute. Are you going to accidentally cause the scene to need to be reshot?"
"Fuwa-san I am a professional." Kuon said smoothly. "Whether my co-star is cute or not is irrelevant. I will perform the scene to the best of my ability and try to get it all done in as few takes as possible so as not to waste anyone's time." He stalked off leaving a smirking Kyoko and annoyed Sho behind him.
Sho rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He said then turned to Kyoko. "You're not in the next scene, come have a snack with me."
"No thank you." she said choosing to pretend that he had asked. "I'm not hungry."
"Whatever, come sit with me. We can work on your song." He demanded and she had to press her tongue to the roof of her mouth to keep herself from clenching her jaw. "You're my girlfriend and the crew members should see us spending time together."
"Nothing has been announced." She said but relented. "Fine we can work on the song while watching the scene."
"No, we'll go to my room." Sho insisted.
"No thank you." she said and walked off before he could grab her and drag her off anywhere.
Sho clenched his jaw and followed closely behind her. He knew he couldn't make a scene, but he desperately wanted to get her alone. It was the only way he would be able to talk to her without Tsuruga clouding her mind. Sho followed her to where she took a seat not exactly next to Ren but close enough to irk Sho. The two seemed to gravitate towards each other and be listening to the other's conversations. Ren was talking to Yashiro while Kyoko had been greeted by Momose-san and was wishing her luck on the next scene.
"I'm going to watch and see if it'll inspire any lyrics." Kyoko enthused to her friend. They never got to hang out much anymore so working with Momose again was nice.
"It's so cool that you're writing the song. I could never do that." Momose said a little jealous of Kyoko's talent. She eyed Ren still confused about the relationship between him and Kana. She was certain that he was in love with Kyoko. Practically everyone on the set of Dark Moon had been sure that they were already together back then. Kyoko gaining Yashiro as a manager had only solidified the assumption in Momose's mind.
"It's kind of exhausting actually and sometimes I wish I had never agreed to it." Kyoko admitted thinking about all the extra time she had to spend with Shotaro.
"Exhausting?" Momose asked but Sho had come up to them to interrupt.
"I'm sorry but I don't think I properly introduced myself before at the script reading." He said bowing to Momose. "I am Fuwa Sho. Please take care of me." he was properly polite for once thinking it would impress Kyoko, but she just rolled her eyes.
"If you're in the mood to flirt, can you, do it over there? Momose-san needs to start filming soon and she can't have your slobber all over her." Kyoko said motioning to where Shoko-san was checking her phone.
Momose couldn't help the snort that escaped her nose. "Slobber Kyoko-chan. Really you're too funny. I remember you likened Fuwa-san to an anteater before too."
"Yes, an anteater syphoning food from my mouth. It was really gross." Kyoko said being perfectly honest though Momose took it as a joke. She couldn't comprehend anyone thinking Fuwa Sho was gross.
"Momose-san! Tsuruga-san! We're just about ready for you so please take your places." Director Anna shouted without looking up from what his assistant director was showing him.
"Yes!" Momose and Kuon answered him and Kuon motioned for her to walk ahead of him.
"They make a cute couple." Sho said with a bright smile.
"Yeah, perfect for the drama." Kyoko agreed as she scribbled on her paper.
"Who's gonna love you like me?" Sho read from her paper. "Who's gonna touch you like me?" he raised a brow. "It's a little raunchy but I like it."
Kyoko blushed protesting, "It's not raunchy." It was something she could imagine Satoshi saying if Sayuri ever seriously tried to leave him.
They fought and they threatened to leave each other a la the previous scene but none of that was ever serious. They were too attached. She sneaked a peak at Kuon and sighed. She was too attached to him; she knew but his eyes met hers at the same time and she knew that he had the same problem.
"Yeah, maybe I'll help them sneak off together at the club tonight. Get him away from Kana-san for a bit so he can have fun with Momose-san." Sho contemplated.
"I already told you that Kana-san won't go for an immature guy like you. Stop trying to steal her from Tsuruga-san." Kyoko said with an exaggerated sigh.
"I was talking about him not me." Sho countered. Why weren't either of them taking his bait? First Tsuruga thanked him for the water instead of refusing it. Now Kyoko was pretending to be unbothered by Tsuruga cheating.
"Sure, you were." She said keeping her bright adoring smile in place so all the crew members would think she was enjoying the conversation. "What do you think of this one?" she asked flipping the page and offering him a song she had written down.
He skimmed over the words then frowned. It was loving and filled with endearing sentiments with a hint of a sexual relationship while still being sweet. It was good but most likely about Tsuruga. He imagined her in the actor's bed gazing down at his sleeping form as she wrote.
"It's good." He said honestly his voice wavering. Kyoko cocked her head at the sudden tears springing to his eyes. He cleared his throat and said, "I mean I would need to hear you sing it first before I can say for certain that it'll work."
"Ok, I'll have Yashiro-san get this one to the producer so you both can hear me sing it during our next session." Kyoko said and Yashiro walked over, hearing his name.
"No!" Sho said still wanting to get her alone. "I should hear it now. It's too expensive to have those sessions be for vetoing songs. The next time we go should be when we record and finalize everything. We are professionals after all and don't want to waste anyone's time."
"Yes, I suppose you're right. But I can't sing here. We have to whisper so as not to disturb filming." Kyoko said.
"Which is why I suggested going to my room." Sho said a little too loudly.
"That's not happening." Yashiro said.
Sho threw him a scathing look.
"Quiet on set." Director Anna called out.
Everyone straightened up a little and fell silent. They were filming the scene where Momose's character Ritsu and Satoshi meet at a bar. Having been drinking she responds to him positively despite knowing that he's married to one of the moms of her second-grade class. He leads her into a sensual dance before whispering in her ear that they should find somewhere private. Ristu flushing with a shuddering sigh and nods her agreement.
"Do you wonder if he enjoys pinning women down?" Sho asked in a whispered beside Kyoko's ear that made her cringe.
She watched as Satoshi led Ritsu away. They would call cut then set up for the next scene in the hotel room. He would hold her down on the bed by her hair and roughly simulate having sex. Kyoko blushed thinking that she wouldn't mind being Momose in that scene.
"What is that look?" Sho asked disgusted that he couldn't rea her mind. He had never seen her look so… so turned on. He shook his head. There was no way that could be the expression she was giving. The fairytale brained doe eyed little girl he grew up with couldn't be turned on by the thought of an ogre like Tsuruga holding someone down.
"What look?" Kyoko asked controlling her face.
"The one you had when I was talking about Tsuruga holding down Momose and banging her senseless. You looked like you would enjoy watching. What kind of perverted things has that freak been teaching you?" Sho snarled still close to her ear.
She shoved him away hating the feel of his hot breath on her skin.
"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about." She hissed in a low tone. He opened his mouth to speak again but she held up a finger and shushed him. Irritated he took a seat beside her and glared at Ren.
Once the scenes were finished director Anna called Kyoko, Murasame, and Sho over to speak with him and Kuon. The last scene for the day would be at the same bar Satoshi had met up with Ritsu at and the lead in for Kyoko singing her song in the drama. Sho placed himself beside Kyoko and smirked at Kuon who was determined not to let the musician get to him.
"So, we'll have Haruki-kun enter on stage left. Kenji-san will be at the bar watching Sayuri-chan and Satoshi-san. When Satoshi-san spots Kenji-san they'll get into an argument. That will establish Kenji-san's motive for murdering Satoshi-san."
"Right." Everyone except Sho agreed.
"I'm sorry I just don't understand why Sayuri would still go back to Satoshi?" Sho asked before everyone else could walk away. "I think that a smart woman like her would leave after the first beating. Now she's discovered that he's been cheating on her and she's still going to stay with him. What will it take for her to stop being so dumb and leave him for Kenji?"
"She doesn't leave Satoshi-san for Kenji-san. Satoshi-san dies and Sayuri-chan ends up with Haruki-san." Murasame said eyes fixed on the hand Sho casually placed on Kyoko's hip to pull her into a side hug. It didn't bother him when Tsuruga acted possessive over her but somehow when Fuwa did it gave Murasame a sick feeling in his gut.
Kyoko closed her eyes and took a deep breath. If she shoved him away again it could start rumors. They weren't an official public couple, but she didn't push him away then she was all but confirming that they were together.
"That's just as stupid. Kenji has been by her side her whole life, why would she go to Haruki for help in covering her crimes? Why would she fall for some useless guy she only just met?" Sho scoffed impatiently as he felt Kyoko trying to pull away.
"Besides the fact that Haruki is a highly skilled detective and also treats her with respect and kindness?" Kuon asked dryly. He finally managed to rip his eyes away from the hand caressing Kyoko's hip only to stare daggers at Fuwa's face.
"He's a detective and yet he helps her conceal her husbands murder. Not exactly a moral character." Sho sneered tugging Kyoko closer to his side.
"We are not rewriting the script for anyone." Director Anna said. An unspoken especially you hung in the air between them.
"Tch." Sho rolled his eyes sneering at the director.
"Do you have your song prepared?" director Anna asked Sho who paled at the mention of the song he was meant to write. He had spent so much time harassing Kyoko about her writing that he hadn't worked on his own song. "Fuwa-san," Anna sighed wishing they weren't so far into filming that recasting Fuwa would require weeks of reshoots.
"Kyoko doesn't have hers ready either." Sho said pointing at Kyoko.
Anna pinched the bridge of his nose saying, "You were supposed to be helping her with that."
"You're right I'm sorry." Sho said feigning sincerity but his grip on her hip tightened painfully. She did her best not to wince from the sudden pressure. "We will have the songs done by the end of the week when we shoot that scene."
"Fu…" Kuon began to speak taking a step towards them. Kyoko fixed him with a glare, and he held himself back. They both had to act the part.
"We have been working really hard on it. I promise Sho-chan has been a great help to me and he only hasn't finished his song because he's been helping me." Kyoko said amplifying her enthusiasm to make her voice sound cutesier and more enthralled by Sho. This appeased him and he loosened his grip on her hip.
"Good." Director Anna said still glaring at Sho. "Places please." He ordered wanting Sho to remove his hand just as much as everyone else.
