Chapter Five — What Could Go Wrong? (Part II)
After that weird encounter with Blue, Red had forgotten the question he had just asked. Yellow chose to avoid the question too, lying that she forgot too. The pair finally reached the entrance of City Hall after a couple minutes. Red tried to follow Yellow's pace, so they ended up walking really slow and they ended up being a bit late.
When they arrived, Yellow stopped and took a look at the building as a whole from the outside. It was one of the rarer chances she had to see a larger building since she tends to not leave campus as much and the biggest one would be the school. Just looking at it, she felt in awe at how large it was. Red, on the other hand, was completely opposite. He was raised in the city more than the countryside, so this was normal for him.
He glanced over at Yellow when she had stopped, and then noticing her amazed expression, he chucked, making the blonde lose her trance.
"Um... did something happen?" she asked, confused.
Red grinned at her, giving her a reassuring smile. "No, it's fine," he replied, waving it off. "We should get inside soon or we'll get scolded by L—"
"—AAAAAAHHHHH!"
A shrilling, high-pitched shriek was heard above them, interrupting their conversation. Turning their attention to the source of the sound in confusion, Red and Yellow looked above them, only to realize that Sapphire was falling from the sky towards them with Ruby in her arms.
"What the heck?!" Red yelled as he tossed the umbrella to the side, and hurriedly scooped up Yellow like a football. He quickly ran a couple meters in the rain to get out of the landing area.
After a few seconds, to their surprise, Sapphire landed on her feet perfectly. Amazed at herself, she cheered, and hoisted Ruby's body up in the air as if he was a trophy.
"Yes! It was a success! Practice does make perfect!" she shouted in glee, running around in the rain, happily like a child.
Ruby, still in her arms, was upset. "Barbarian! Put me down!" he shouted at her.
Sapphire stopped her dancing and cheers, and finally remembered that he was in her arms. "Oops!"
Like he had told her to do, she dropped him immediately onto the floor, which, unfortunately for Ruby, happened to be a muddy puddle. Upon feeling the wet warm water sink through his pants, he cringed and stood up, his face scrunching up in disgust and full of grimace.
"Ew! It smells!" he whined, checking the back of his pants to see the mud stain. "This is all your fault, you psycho!"
Sapphire rolled her eyes at how he was overreacting. "Oh shuddup! If it wasn't for me, then we would've been up there all day, ya ingrate!"
"What the heck happened?" Red muttered, watching from the sidelines in confusion. It wasn't everyday you see two random high school kids falling off of City Hall.
When Sapphire heard her voice, she finally noticed their presence and grinned upon seeing their faces, waving her arms openly to welcome them. "Red, Yellow! Ya're finally 'ere!"
She jerked a thumb to Ruby who was behind her. "Tell that ingrate that I was in the right!"
Ruby folded his arms and frowned. "I can hear you!"
Sapphire waved him off, not caring anymore. "So..." she began, her eyes trailing down to Yellow under his armpit. "Why ya carryin' Yellow?"
"Huh?" Red mumbled, totally forgetting that he was carrying her in the first place. "Oh! I'm sorry, Yello—"
He stopped midway when he noticed long blonde looks all over arm. Staring at her with widened eyes and a gaping mouth that expressed how shocked he was, he slowly put her down onto her feet. He glanced over to the straw hat Yellow always wore on the floor and picked it up for her, the expression still visible on his face even though he had finally closed his mouth.
Yellow felt a blush creep up on her face, embarrassed that he had found out this way. She tried to avoid his eyes by looking at the floor.
"Yellow... your hair..." Red managed to say, pointing at it.
Yellow quickly put her wet, dirty hat on, trying to hide her ponytail again. "U-Uh... I can explain!" she sputtered out, waving her arms frantically.
Ruby and Sapphire were watching the scene awkwardly in confusion, eyeing each other and then back at the pair.
Finally, Ruby broke the silence and tried to change the mood. "Let's get inside guys, it's raining!"
"Geez! Because of that stupid elevator being out, I had to walk up five flights of stairs!" Blue complained when she finally arrived at the room they were supposed to decorate.
She knew they had picked the second floor to have the wedding there, but because the ceilings were quite large on the first floor, there were more flights of stairs than usual. Though she was a pretty athletic person, considering she's in the program as a gymnast, even those stairs made her worn out.
When she finally took her break, she finally got a good look at the room they were supposed to decorate. It was quite large, to her disappointment of getting out of this punishment quickly. Thankfully, she kind of likes this stuff, and with lots of people, they might finish fast. Unfortunately, the people who were in charge were absent, except for one chubby black-haired boy and the "rich chick" Blue knew her as.
Blue went over to Diamond, who was arranging flowers and chatting with Platinum.
"Hey, where are the others?" she inquired, catching their attention.
Diamond gestured to the back of the room to Green in the corner. "Green is over there, arranging the guest's list (she didn't notice him at first), and Missy is arranging flowers. I'm setting up the tables and Pearl is over there taking a nap because he's tired. I know Sapphire and the white hat senior is on the roof together cleaning the bird poop, in case the wedding goes on the roof."
Blue arched an eyebrow, a bit surprised and slightly worried. "They're cleaning the roof right now? It's raining dogs and cats outside!"
"Don't worry, the short blond-haired senior went to get them a long time ago," Diamond reassured. "I don't know where they're at though. Maybe it will take a while to come down."
Blue can relate to that since the space between the floors was ridiculously long.
"Oh," she mumbled, satisfied with his answer. "Well, what do I do?"
"I think we have the floral arrangement and tables under control. I guess you can help Green with the guest's list! I saw it was like seven pages," Diamond remarked.
Blue made a sourpuss face, knowing that she had to work with Green, but complied anyway. Honestly, he wasn't a bad guy to her— she just disliked how rude he was to her in their first meeting. Plus, he always had that annoyed look on his face that irked her.
She walked over to him with a smile, hoping to bring up the mood with it. "So, what do we have to do next, Greenie~?" she asked, giving him her version of a "cute" nickname.
Green's eye twitched, obviously not fond of that weird nickname she gave him. "Don't call me that," he grumbled to her, glaring daggers.
Blue shrugged her shoulders, not really caring about his glare he sent her way. "It's much cuter than your real name. You should accept it," she told him jokingly, purposely stirring him up.
Green rolled his eyes and shifted his attention back to the guest's list. He knew no matter what he told her, she would just babble on and talk even more. It was better to deal with these types with silence.
Crystal's POV
"ACHOO!"
"Ew, Crys, ew," Soul groaned as she wiped the spit off her face. She happened to be talking to me when I sneezed.
I gave her a sheepish look. "Sorry," I apologized. "So continuing, what do we do first?"
Soul went back to the situation. "Okay, so, since we can't make any... um, room for her, we'll just have to improvise. We'll need a warm blanket, warm water, and a knife."
We can't even call for help properly, how the heck are we supposed to get those things?!
"A knife?!" the pregnant lady shrieked when she heard the word. Somehow this word was triggering for her because she collapsed and fainted, planting herself forward against the wall and her back in our direction. Luckily, I caught her stomach so there wasn't damage. Or so, I hope? She was laying on her belly, and that could be horrible for the baby. I guess I should be happy because she won't complain, or scream in my ear anymore, or breathe heavily. Even though it was reasonable because of her state, that lady was taking up all the oxygen and making the situation worse. I still feel bad for her though, it would suck if I was in labor and stuck in an elevator full of teenagers who thinks knives are needed to deliver a baby.
"Oh no! The baby might be hurt!" Soul exclaimed. Gold, Silver, right? You two are on the football team, so you both should be plenty strong! Use your muscles and flip her over so we can give birth!" I swear, that was the weirdest sentence I heard Soul say, and she says a lot of weird things. Also, how the heck were we supposed to deliver a baby when the mother can't push because she's unconscious?! Does the labor just stop?!
"Well, I don't mind touching her—" Pervert. "—but she's a married lady, probably, and I can't touch another man's girl." I can't tell if Gold is a decent person or not. Probably not.
Silver rolled his eyes next to him. "Don't be such an idiot," he said. Thank you for knowing my feelings, Silver.
He inched towards the lady, and to the best of his abilities, he flipped her over on her back carelessly. There was even a 'FLOP' sound that kinda sounded painful on her back. I hope the baby is okay in there after everything.
Ugh. I just realized the room got more tighter after Silver flipped her. Her upper torso was previously against the wall, but after the flip, her back was on the floor taking up the room, and I'm forced to be even closer to Gold.
"You have got to be kidding me," I mumbled, letting out a long sigh.
With my own strength, I grabbed her upper body carefully and dragged it against the wall so she was sitting up instead of laying. I'm so happy I lift weights everyday.
"Okay, what do we do now?" Soul asked the group.
"Don't worry I've seen this in movies," Gold tried to assure us, but knowing him, I didn't feel too assured. "First, we gotta make her push."
And I knew this would lead somewhere bad.
"We can't do that when she's fainted," I pointed out.
"Well, Super Serious Gal—" Kill me now. "—what's your genius plan then?"
"First, don't call me that," I repeated for the millionth time. I don't know how many times I have to tell this idiot before he starts listening. "Second, what we should do is find a way to get help rather than play doctor as teenagers who have zero knowledge in delivering babies. That would be the wiser choice because I don't know if you guys know this, but labor takes hours and a conscious person to push!"
"Wow okay, and how do we do that, Crys?" Soul asked, turning to me as a source of wisdom as usual.
I pulled out our shared cell phone out of my back pocket. Soul and I are usually together and we cut back on money, so we ended up sharing one anyway. Cell Phones weren't even allowed in school, so it didn't even matter.
Why didn't I think of this before? I would've been away from that idiot a long time ago. I know we've been trapped in here for only five minutes, but I'm dying. Literally.
"Good thing I brought the cellphone with me for emergencies," I mumbled to myself in relief.
I turned on the cellphone and unlocked it quickly so I can hurry up and call my way out of this place. But once I unlocked it, the screen kept flashing red then turned off on me.
There was a moment of silence in the elevator. How awkward was this?
"I think your phone is out of battery, Super Serious Gal," Gold informed the obvious. I rolled my eyes. You don't say?
I immediately turned to Soul because I knew she was at fault, and shoved the phone in her face.
"Soul, what is the meaning of this?" I sternly asked.
Soul did her usual dramatic act, letting out a dramatic gasp. "Why do you think it's my fault?!"
I'm on the verge of getting pissed off right now! I can't believe she did this to our emergency cellphone!
"You're the only one who uses this phone!" I answered.
No, Crys, it's okay. Maybe she can defend herself and provide a good reason for this. Calm down, Crys.
"It could've run out of battery because of the other emergencies the other days," she defended, making up excuses.
"Soul, I charge it every night. If you're going to lie to me again, I'm taking away your Poke-DS and laptop!"
"Fineee!" Soul let out a defeated sigh. "It was me. I was using it to message someone all day."
Ugh! I should've known she would do something like this!
"Soul! I'm lecturing you when we get home!"
Cue her groan.
"Woah, woah, woah," this idiot butted into our conversation. He gave Soul a quizzical look. "You have a DS?"
I wonder if he thinks it's lame or something. I can see it being age-inappropriate for her.
Soul started to pout and get defensive. "It's my childhood item, okay?" she snapped.
Gold put his hands up in defense. "Geez, it's not like I mean it a bad way. You don't have to get so defensive about it," he told her.
"I'm surrounded by idiots," I heard Silver mutter. Even though he might be including me, he's got a point. We're freaking out about a DS for starters, and we're arguing over something useless.
"Hey! Don't you guys have a phone? You guys are football prodigies, and I see a lot of people from your group flirt with random girls. Shouldn't you guys have a cell phone?" Soul brought up.
Though she pisses me off and leaves me in disappointment, she's got a point.
"I left it at home," Gold told her unapologetic, shrugging his shoulders.
"You don't have a phone," Silver exposed him.
"You just never seen me use it because I use it at night," Gold clarified.
"Then give me your number," Silver demanded, folding his arms. He probably said that because he knows Gold can't.
"Sorry Silv, but my phone is reserved for girls only," Gold responded.
Silver looked at him with an annoyed expression and was about to open his mouth to retort, but Soul interjected. "Guys! If we turn on each other, it'll be easier to decide who to eat first!"
I sighed, finally losing my last bit of hope of a brain cell somewhere in her head.
"Um..." I made eye contact with Silver. "Do you have a cell phone?"
Gold let out a burst of laughter at the same time Silver shook his head. "Haha! You would've never guessed what happened to his phone!" He began to laugh harder the more he thought about it. "This crazy person kept spamming him in class, and the teacher took his phone up!"
Silver elbowed him to shut up, obviously upset at Gold for making it into something funny when he was annoying.
"Huh, I guess even you guys have harassers, huh," Soul said, feeling sorry for him and flashing a look of sympathy. "I know how it feels to contact a crazy person online!"
She's probably talking about that feraligatr avatar mutual in our group. She's been complaining to me non-stop about him for a while after he stole her money and ignored her.
I looked down when I heard some loud panting, remembering the pregnant lady. Though unconscious, she was still breathing heavily and shaking, full of chills. Right, how could I forget? We still have this issue to deal with.
I pulled back my jacket sleeve and checked my watch. 4:57 PM. We've been in here for a good fifteen minutes after no contact or way to get help. That's it. I'm calling it already! I'm just going to die here surrounded by an idiot, an over dramatic sister, and Silver, the most-likely murderer of the idiot if I don't strangle Gold first.
After about seven long minutes (Yellow was counting), Red finally got over Yellow's hair and decided to act normal. Her real gender didn't really change anything anyways.
"Sorry about that," Yellow muttered for the millionth time, looking down at her shoes to avoid eye contact with him.
Red laughed to soothe the tension and scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I told you not to worry! It was my fault in the first place for not knowing you were a girl! Sorry about that by the way!" His cheeks became a bit red in embarrassment after thinking back to all the things he said to her in the past year when he thought she was a "he".
"Well, it seemed to have a big impact on ya," Sapphire mumbled, observing the two from the sidelines.
Unlike clueless Red who was in the dark, Sapphire already knew Yellow was a girl since she met the girl without her hat on. Ruby also happened to know because he could tell by her body proportions and petite figure that she was indeed a girl. Though he sounded like a pervert, it was normal since he dealt with clothes often.
"Hey, the elevators are not working," Ruby announced, changing the subject.
No matter how many times he pushed the elevator button down, it wouldn't work.
Sapphire shoved him aside. "Let me handle this," she told him. Before she could push the button, Ruby yanked her arms back and prevented her from even putting a finger on the button. "What are you doing, Prissy Boy? Let go of me!" she screeched, wrangling around in his grip.
Ruby had trouble containing her strength. "Knowing you, you're going to break the button like you did with the doorknob! I'll let go of you when you calm down!"
Sapphire stopped struggling to prove that she calmed down. Ruby, seeing this, let go of her arms, then went to block the button with his body in case she chooses to double-cross him.
She folded her arms and let out an annoyed gruff. "If we can't use the elevator, then where are the stairs?" she inquired, looking around.
"City Hall doesn't have stairs," Red informed, catching everyone's attention. "I learned from a friend that City Hall never had stairs because the previous mayor had a trauma about tripping down the stairs when he was little, so they only installed elevators."
"Well, that's lame," Ruby remarked, completely believing the senior. "How are we supposed to go up?"
"Forget going up! How are we supposed to go down if there's a fire!" Sapphire reasoned, finding it dumb as well. "Well, we could always climb on the side of the buildin', and climb through a window ta get up."
"No, no, no," Ruby denied, having war flashbacks of the incident that just occurred. "One, my clothes are gonna get even more wet, and two, you're going to slip and give me trauma. Well, more trauma than you already caused."
"What should we do then?" Yellow questioned, bring the conversation back to the problem.
"We should at least let someone know that the elevator isn't working because there seems to be no one here to fix it," Ruby suggested the most reasonable approach.
"We're so gonna get chewed out by Lt. Surge, but at least, we have an excuse," Red mentioned optimistically.
A few words were said by Ruby and Red to the desk lady at the reception while Sapphire and Yellow were waiting on the other side of the lobby for them. Sapphire was waiting nonchalantly, not caring about her soggy, wet clothes all over the expensive leather couches. She noticed Yellow deep in thought about something.
"Is something wrong, Yellow?" she questioned the blonde.
"Huh?" Yellow snapped out of her thoughts. "I'm sorry, what did you say?"
"Ya seem to be makin' a stressed out face. Are ya okay?" Sapphire rephrased it.
Yellow gave her a small smile to try to reassure the girl. "Thanks, but it's nothing big to worry about. I'm just wondering about the thing Red mentioned about City Hall not having stairs."
Sapphire shrugged her shoulders, not really caring. "Well, it doesn't really matter now." She gestured towards the repairman near the elevator. "People are already comin' to fix it."
"Yeah, I'm probably just thinking too much," Yellow muttered, shaking the thought away.
Crystal's POV
After several horrible moments later, help finally came, and we got out of the elevator. The pregnant lady was amazingly unconscious through the whole thing because turns out when Silver had flipped her earlier, she bumped her head on the wall and got a bruise. I heard the doctor mention it when he was checking her. Though she has a head injury and is about to push a human being out of her body in a dirty elevator, I still envy her for having the privilege of not being a part of that dumb conversation.
"Are you alright, Crystal?" Yellow asked with a worried expression.
I'm kind of surprised she would ask since I barely met her the other day, but it was nice of her. After I got out of the elevator, I heard she and some other people were the ones who called for the elevator maintenance, which I'm extremely grateful for.
I smiled back at her to reassure her. "Yeah, I'm okay."
"Hey, the elevator is down, so no one can use it," the worker (or goddess who got me out of the elevator) informed us. He pointed at a door across the lobby in the corner. "You have to use the stairs."
"There were stairs?" Red exclaimed surprisingly, widening his eyes. I don't know why he's so shocked.
"Every place that has an elevator has to have stairs. It's the law," I educated him. I thought this was obvious. Was this guy really my senior?
Red tried to act like he didn't just assume this place didn't have stairs and whistled to let the silence pass by.
"You didn't know there were stairs?" Gold brought up, not taking the hint.
Red's cheeks started to turn red. I'm guessing he's embarrassed. Understandable, I would be too.
"Guys! We're so late! We have to get going!" Red realized, shouting at us frantically.
I couldn't tell if it was because he was trying to change the subject, or he actually realized we were super late.
Ugh.
Speaking of which, I can't believe I have to go do more work that takes away from my karate practice and studies in a food fight I wasn't even a part of. I've never been this upset since the time I went skydiving with Soul. When we shared a parachute and was hooked together, she ended up peeing on my back out of fear. And yet, this day somehow beats that.
Normal POV
Blue laid back on her recliner chair, relaxing while she waited for the screen to load. Yellow was beside Blue, but on her bed, a laptop on her lap.
They just came back from the dumb wedding decorating thing that they're force to do as punishment. Blue had invited the girl to come over for dinner since they had some leftovers and it'll be nice to hangout after the day the two just went through. Of course, to Silver's dismay, Gold heard and came along as well.
Aside from getting her gender revealed to her crush, she got chewed out by Lt. Surge for not only being late, but falling asleep on the task. She couldn't help but doze off since she missed her daily naps because of this. It didn't help that he decided to wake her up by pouring water on her hair and making her mop spilled water after. And then, when she thinks she's done mopping the mess she didn't even create, Emerald came in with crazy eyes, soaked down to his underwear. He kept running around, chasing Ruby and Sapphire and yelling threats about strangling the pair. This led to him creating a trail of dirt and water around the room, which of course, Yellow had to mop.
As for Blue, she was tired too. Walking up those flights of stairs tired her, but what made her even more exhausted was arguing with Green for the last couple hours. She kept trying to be her friendly self, but every time she attempted something, Green would either ignore her completely, or just make rude (in her opinion) comments about anything she said. There was a time where she tried to suggest to use light blue colored table cloth because she thought it was a pretty ocean color, but Green corrected her, explaining that the ocean is not blue, but it appears that way because of the reflection of the sky. This led to more arguments that had to be broken up by Red, who tried to be the middleman in all of the mess.
All in all, the two could use a break.
"This is boring! When is Leafy going to get on?" Blue whined, kicking her legs around like a kid.
"Just wait patiently, and he'll come," Yellow gently told her, laid-back. She was used to Blue's impatient nature.
Blue sighed exasperatedly, knowing she can't do anything to speed up the time or change it. This promised battle with Leaf was one of the things she looked forward to today. She was kind of hoping it would make her day to talk to him after all the things she just went through. His personality and character was very fun to be around.
"I'm going to check on the boys with dinner. I'm getting hungry," Yellow said, leaving the room.
"Alright," Blue hummed, still waiting at the computer for Leaf to log on.
[Aoi. Are you ready?] The brunette snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the familiar voice, and she looked over to the computer screen to see a bright red Pokémon character. It's Leaf. She licked her lips in excitement, her mouth curling into a smile.
"I've been waiting all day!" she told him, putting on her headgear.
When she was adjusting the mic, the screen suddenly turned black. She felt her heart beat faster in panic, confused as to why her computer suddenly shut off.
"What the heck?" she muttered to herself, taking off the headset.
She repeatedly kept pressing buttons and keys on her keyboard, but to no avail, the computer screen continued to not respond. As she stared into it, she noticed something flickering among the darkness on the screen. Suddenly, she felt her breath stop and something flashed in her mind.
Suddenly, she was in an alleyway. She observed her surroundings. She was in some sort of alleyway, sitting on the floor in the darkness, the only light provided being the streetlamp at the entrance. She couldn't move her body or control her actions, and she saw blood dripping down from her arm and fingers wrapped around a steel pipe, gripped hard. The outfit she was wearing— a blue top with black baggy pants— also had blood all over. Something else that had blood all over were the bodies laid across from her, all in a pile.
She can feel herself panting, exhausted. When she heard footsteps coming from the entrance of the alley, Blue was suddenly shown another figure. She couldn't make out their face because she didn't bother to look at anything but their legs.
"You should stop this kind of stuff, or you'll really get hurt, Leaf," a deep voice spoke, shoving his hands into the pockets of his white lab coat.
This made her realize it was a man. When her eyes trailed up slowly from his legs to his torso and to his face, she was suddenly met with bright green eyes that resemble the color of jade.
Blue's body twitched in place. Suddenly, she was jolted back to reality where she had just left. Holding her forehead, she began rubbing her temples to calm down her headache.
What the heck was that? she wondered, looking around. She was back in her recliner, and her computer screen was normal again, showing the home screen of the game's website. However, the words "SERVER MAINTENANCE" were on the screen.
What did she see? What was happening? Who were they? Why was she in someone's body? She was sure it wasn't her own since she couldn't doesn't remember that ever happening to her and she couldn't control her body.
"I'm back with some curry!" Yellow chirped cheerfully, entering the room with a tray of two plates.
Upon seeing Blue deep in thought, she questioned it. "What's wrong, Blue? Does your head hurt?"
"Um—" Blue wondered if she should tell Yellow about what she saw. Contemplating it, her friend probably wouldn't believe her and the whole thing was weird. "—it's nothing."
She decided not to.
Author's Note — Haha. I wanted to write more, but then I got bored and decided to end it there! Plus, this is probably my longest chapter even though it doesn't feel like it. YAAAAYYY! Anyways, I'll write more Soulsilvershipping & Commonershipping because I can't seem to write that much :/ well besides Oldrivalshipping, which is impossible for me lol.
Well, that's all. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH!
