Not The Only One
Neville looked around the Leaky Cauldron with a small smile on his face. It was the first reunion of the DA—a reunion that would become at least annual if he had anything to do with it—and the room was filled with people he considered his family.
In the corner, he could see Dean and Seamus, the laughter flowing as they entertained Ernie and Hannah and Luna.
Across the room, Harry was standing between George's legs, running a hand through his red hair as they talked softly. It was a pairing nobody had expected given Harry and Ginny's dating, but one that everyone seemed happy with. George, in particular, was looking better than Neville could have expected him too.
Ginny herself was sitting with Ron and Hermione, a mischievous look on her face. Neville could hear her teasing them about her mother expecting wedding bells in their near future. Neville thought Ron looked a little green, but that could have been the lighting in the bar.
Oliver Wood—now a starter for Puddlemere—was standing with his arm wrapped around Percy Weasley's shoulders, talking with Angelina and Alicia, who'd both been signed to the Harpies the year before. It sounded like some friendly trash talk was happening, and Katie along with them sounded perfectly cheerful to be egging them on.
Neville accepted his drink from Tom with a smile, dropping the change into the tip jar, and then went to join Harry and George.
"Alright, Nev?" Harry asked, seeing him approach.
Neville nodded with a grin. "I'm good, Harry. How you doing? I haven't seen you for a few weeks."
They fell into easy conversation, and slowly, the rest of the DA seemed to migrate towards them.
They were all a few drinks in when Ginny raised her glass to Harry.
"Time for a speech, leader-man."
Harry flushed, ducking his head, and Neville chuckled at him, because it amazed him that Harry could be so accomplished, so famous, and still get so embarrassed by good attention.
"Okay, okay," Harry said, when the group started chanting for him to speak, and he waved his hands at them to shut them all up. "Together, we've accomplished something that seemed to be impossible. And going forward, we've made lifelong friends and," Harry glanced at Ron and Hermione, then Ginny, then Neville and Luna, "family."
Neville felt his heart warm as he listened to a man he considered his best friend talk. He was glad he wasn't the only one who felt like he'd found a family here.
