Chapter 66

"You what?" Scorpius asked, still a little shock at the words that came out of Hugo's mouth.

"I slept with Ella!" Hugo declared, clearly panicked by the fact. Rose was oddly quiet, still unsure in how to react.

"Slept as in…"

"Sex, Scorpius!" Hugo clarified, causing Rose to brush bright red and Scorpius to take a deep breath and nod his head, as they both processed the information. "We had sex. I would've thought you two would need an explanation on what that means," He added, for the first time hinting at what he walked in on.

"Oh Hugo, please," Rose finally said with a grimace, clearly uncomfortable with discussing her brothers night time activities and him enquiring about hers.

"How could this even happen?" Hugo exclaimed, gripping his hair. "This is your fault," he pointed his finger at Scorpius.

"How is it my fault? I didn't sleep with her," Scorpius replied, amused with the turn of events although a little confused at what he did wrong.

"The whole reason I asked you to come last night was to stop me doing something stupid," Hugo rounded back on him, proving that the Weasley anger gene is definitely in his DNA. "Just so we're clear, this is something stupid!"

"Woah, okay calm down," Rose said, finally stepping in between the two men. "This is no ones fault, and quite frankly Hugo," she added as she turned her focus to her brother. "I would have thought you'd be a least a little happy with this happening?"

Hugo sighed and sat down on the floor. "It's just not right," he mumbled as Scorpius and Rose joined him on the floor. "After everything that has happened, this is the last thing I wanted." Rose wrapped arm around his shoulders. Naturally, his head fell on to hers, just like when they were younger. "I needed to know I could be her friend again before I even considered trying to take things further. She deserves more than a drunk ginger idiot," he uttered solemnly.

"Hey, don't put yourself down mate," Scorpius defended. "She's lucky to have Hugo Weasley in her life." Rose smiled at Scorpius adoringly as he sat in front of her and Hugo, defending her brother from himself.

"It's true," she added, giving him a small comforting squeeze. "I don't want to even imagine a life without you in it."

"Yeah, but I didn't randomly start ignoring you," Hugo mumbled. "Plus you're my sister you have to say that," he added, looking up at her with a small smile.

Le Coin Rose

As Alison stepped through the door, her eyes immediately started searching for her best friend. Unable to see her she stepped up to the counter to ask if she was in her office. Before she could however Daisy spotted her as she stepped out of the kitchen for a moment. "She's not here," she said, a delighted smile on her face.

"Oh," Alison replied, not really expecting that information. "Do you know where she is?"

"Hopefully, between the sheets with a handsome blonde," Daisy replied, with a cheeky smile. "But knowing Rose, that might be wishful thinking. She's probably at home recovering from a hangover."

"Oh my," Alison remarked, clearly shocked but interested. She moved closer to the counter. "How do you know about Scorpius?"

"He was here last night," Nate said as he pasted by.

"I'm pretty sure they made up," Daisy added excitedly. She allowed Alison behind the counter and pulled her towards the kitchen as Nate continued to work. "He called from Rose's this morning, asking if we could manage without her today."

"Wow," Alison signed.

"I know, isn't it great!" Daisy said bouncing slightly. "Of course, we don't know for sure something happened, but it's all rather exciting."

"Yes, I'm happy they have finally stopped running from their feelings."

"What did she say when she woke up?" Rose asked, a little afraid of the answer.

"I don't know," Hugo said with a shrug, clearing trying to avoid looking anyone in the eye.

"What do you mean, you don't know?" When Hugo still refused to look at her or answer, Rose gasped with shock as it dawned on her what her brother meant. "You mean, you haven't even spoken to her?" She said as she raised her voice and stood up, ignoring Scorpius' look of caution. "You just left her there, in your bed and ran away?" Scorpius stood and took Rose's hand. "How could you be so…"

"Hey," Scorpius interrupted her with a whisper and a light squeeze to her hand. "I don't think that will help." She took a deep breath to calm down before addressing Hugo again. "Hugo, you need to go back and talk to her," She said, her voice laced with concern. "If she wakes up alone in your bed and you are no where to be found, it could seriously hurt her."

"I don't know what to say to her," Hugo replied.

"Well, what do you want to say?" Scorpius challenged, with a smirk. Hugo stared up at him with a slight glare featured upon his face.

"Look, no matter what you want to say," His sister spoke up. "You better say it soon, otherwise you could seriously damage any chance at any sort of relationship with her. Platonic or Romantic." Rose spoke seriously, hoping it would give Hugo the shake up he needed.

"But I…I…" Hugo stuttered.

"You need to figure out your feeling now, Hugo," his Sister urged him. "And then fix this."

"It's now or never, mate," Scorpius added.

Hugo left soon after, leaving Scorpius and Rose alone once more. Rose couldn't help but feel relieved at the fact that Hugo didn't probe more into what was happening between his friend and his sister.

"Don't worry, he'll sort it out," the blond said, noticing Rose's silent worried expression.

"I hope so," the redhead replied, nervously nibbling on her lip. "It will be hard for him though."

"It might be a difficult conversation, but it is one they must have. It's important so that they can move forward," Scorpius spoke seriously, almost like he wasn't just talking about Hugo and Ella. Rose turned her attention back to him, catching the tone in his voice. He stared intently back at her and she knew where he was taking this.

"You're right," she sighed apprehensively. "They're not the only ones who need to talk."

"Come on," he said, oddly with an upbeat tone, as he offered his hand to her. She took his hand and he immediately intertwined their fingers before leading her outside to his truck.

St Mungo's Hospital

"Hello Sweetie," Raymond Spencer said as he hugged his daughter in greeting. Today was a good day, he was able to move about his room instead of being stuck in his bed.

"Hi Daddy, it's so good to see you up and about again," Alison replied, pulling back and sharing a smile. "What have you been up to today?" She asked, hoping for a distraction from all things marriage, rings and Albus.

"I've been reading mostly," he said scratching his head and looking out the window. "I like the view," he added with a bright smile of his own.

"I'm so glad, we were able to get you into this room," she said, looking around.

"Yes, I'm lucky my daughter found such a nice Slytherin who, with the right motivation, can talk anyone into anything," he chuckled as he moved to sit down on one of the chairs near the window.

"Yes, he tends to get what he wants," she mumbled as she moved to join her father.

"Oh, he stopped by again this morning," Ray went on, not noticing the small quiver of reservation Alison had in her voice.

"Albus? He was here?" Surprise written across Alison's features.

"Yes, we had a game of chess," Raymond replied. "He's far too good at that game if you ask me. Slytherins shouldn't be allowed to play," he laughed. It brightened Alison's day to see her father in such good spirits.

"Not all Slytherin's are that good, your daughter just got lucky there," Alison countered with a smile. "It's funny, he didn't tell me he was coming in to see you?"

"Oh well, I welcome it every time he has dropped by."

"How often does he come see you without me?"

"Almost every morning these last couple of weeks," Ray replied, a little concerned at his daughters surprise. "Is that a problem?"

"No, of course not. I just didn't know," Alison reassured her father, reaching across for his hand. "I'm so happy that he has been coming to see you."

Hugo's Apartment

After wondering the streets of London and a series of pep talks Hugo had given himself, he arrived back at his apartment to talk to Ella. Slowly, he made his way towards his bedroom. The door swung open to reveal his empty bed, no Ella in sight. He paced into the attached bathroom to see if she was in there. After checking the whole apartment, he came to the conclusion that she had left. Hugo walked defeatedly back into his bedroom and sat on the side of the bed with a sigh. He caught sight of the muggle clock on his bedside table and realised he had been gone for at least two hours. "Fuck!" He exclaimed, before he threw himself back onto his bed.

Rose and Scorpius sat in the back of his truck, facing each other but refusing to make eye contact. "So, where do we start?" Rose asked, playing with her fingers in her lap.

"The letters," Scorpius replied firmly.

"Okay."

"You red them." He said, like it was a statement, about something he knew already. She confirmed it with a nod. "How many?" That was a question. He looked up, trying to read her expression, nervous about how the answer would make him feel.

"Umm…until about a year or so ago," Rose replied, still looking down at her fidgeting hands. "I stopped right about when Ben asked me out and you ah…you started mentioning another woman a lot." Scorpius was quiet as he processed the information. The silence frightened Rose slightly, pushing her to chance a glance up at him.

"That's a long time to read them and never reply," Scorpius said eventually, meeting Rose's eyes.

"I just didn't know what to say," Rose replied, almost pleadingly. "I mean, I basically forced you to go. How could I write to you and tell you that I have no idea why but I missed you after that."

"Woah, slow down," he said, reaching over for her hands and giving them a gentle squeeze. "What makes you think that me leaving was because of you?" He added with a comforting smile. "Yes, I was upset about your rejection, but you were right we needed to find out who we are in the real world. As stupid as it sounds, I needed to find myself and I did." Rose looked at him a little in awe. With his honesty and openness in this moment, she could feel herself becoming more and more attracted to the man in front of her. "I know who I am, and what I want out of life." Surprisingly, she found herself smiling because her feelings scared her a little less than it normally would. "And Rose, I want you," Scorpius admitted. "No matter how this discussion goes today, I know that will still be true." He added, with a confidence that made Rose's heart swell. So much so that she leaned over and pressed her lips to his, in a tender kiss.

"I want you too," Rose whispered into the small space between them as she ended the kiss.

"Good," Scorpius beamed at her, before giving her a quick kiss as if to seal the deal. "Okay, so you know almost everything that happened to me, you need to fill me in on what the last three years have been like for you."

"My story is no where near as interesting as yours." Scorpius smirked in response, then he lean close to Rose. So close that she could feel his breath against her skin, sending tremors through her body.

"I still want to know it all," Scorpius whispered into her ear.

Albus and Alison's Apartment

"Dad said, you visited him this morning," Alison stated, across the table from Albus as they sat down for dinner.

"Yeah, we had a game of Chess," he replied. "I can't say I didn't enjoy getting another one over him," Albus added with a smug chuckle.

"Didn't know that you were visiting him."

"Yeah, I have been since you told me about his condition. Is that okay?"

"Of course, I just wanted to say thank you," She assured him quickly. "And that I love you," Alison added with an affectionate smile. Albus considered her for a minute, before he stood and walked around to her side of the table. He leaned down and gave her a sweet and tender kiss.

"I love you too," he said when he pulled back. They stared lovingly into each others eyes, smitten smiles across their faces.
