Chapter 7

Greetings viewers! I hope that all of you enjoyed the previous chapter!

In response to Guest Nemo's review, I am very happy to know that me interacting with all of you by responding to your reviews makes you more invested in my stories. I love doing it because I get to constantly exchange feedback with all of you, which has not only improved my writing drastically but has also introduced me to some truly fantastic ideas that make the plot much, much better.

Of course there are people who think that this is just a way for me to beef up my word content but I don't care about those people. What matters to me is that interacting with you guys like this keeps me motivated to release a chapter every week and become a better writer. Thank you so much for your supportive words and thank you for your continued support!

In response to Rosco's review, well, I already have notes ready for my crossover so I will be jumping to that as soon as I finish this story. I am glad to see that you are excited for it! Thank you for your support!

I would like to thank Disco for your continued support! I am happy that the character and plot development keeps you hooked!

I would like to thank the emoticon using guest reviewer for your continued support! Trust me, I have no plans whatsoever to abandon this story.

I would like to thank Nice for your continued support!

I would like to thank John for your continued support! It's great to be back!

In response to MegaRayquaza8121's review, I use swear words just like practically ever other Gen Z guy but I don't like using them in official speeches or in my stories because I feel like they reduce the quality of my writing but I don't judge writers who include a lot of swear words. May the force be with you in this endeavour of swearing off swear words. ( I have no clue what that means XD). Thank you for your continued support!

Responding to ItsYaBoi's review, this is the Percy that fought a dormant Earth Mother and the Percy who could defeat a severely weakened and charmspoken into sleep Tartarus who was out of his domain and had already been heftily injured by all the other Olympians, only after using up all his immortal essence to blow himself up. So while Percy is no pushover, he isn't even at the level of the Big Three, yet. So I have beefed up the Titans to match the gods which should be enough of a challenge to Percy. I hope I cleared that up! Thank you for your continued support!

In response to darkwolfhunter's review, wow, that's a lot to binge in two days but I am thrilled that you liked this series! I know that this series is pretty intense for a T rated fic but unfortunately, giving it an M rating gives an impression that it's associated with sexually explicit stuff even though that's not the only adult theme in an M rated fic.

Since most of the content in these stories passes for a T rated fic, I decided to stick with this approach. Besides, I have seen a few authors writing T rated fics but including M rated parts with disclaimers which is what I have done as well. Thank you for sharing your opinion and thank you for your continued support!

Responding to Walter Ha's review, glad all the changes that Percy has undergone make sense. Well, after this story, I have a Percy X Diana crossover in the pipeline for which I have already made a few notes and have planned out a general plot line. It's going to be a story that involves a very indifferent and selfish Percy who will be a neutral character rather than being the shining example of good like he is in this story.

So I think that this story will start before Batman vs Superman and end after Zack Snyder's Justice League. It will be a standalone story without any sequels. After I wrap up the crossover, I am planning to write a fanfiction involving a Percy X Calypso pairing. Again, that will be a standalone story. I don't know what I'll write after that. I'll probably just call it a day with PJO fics and try my hand at other fanfictions. But yeah, this is a pretty long time away from now. Thank you for your continued support!

In response to the guest reviewer (the one who reviews without fail :) ), yes, while the pacing will become rapid as we progress, for now, I just want to highlight Percy's revamped personality and prepare him for the next few intense arcs. Yes! Since Percy's current immortal essence is brand new, there are a lot of differences between his old and current personalities. Honestly, Rick Riordan just didn't properly highlight how much the Romans had changed the gods and since in this AU, the gods' aspects are already at peace, the best way to show the effect of the Romans is through Percy. Yuppp, the DSS will be back full of techno pop and classical espionage tropes :) Thank you so much for understanding the little break I took and thank you for your continued support!

Responding to Hunter's review, I am really happy to be able to upload chapters on a weekly basis once again! I don't want to jinx it but I hope I can pick up the pace with my future updates! Thank you for your continued support!

In response to Zoe Hunter of Artemis' review, I am glad that you like the new Percy! I'll try my best to update faster! Thank you for your continued support!

In response to Callum Runchman's review, yes, while the Titans know that the DSS existed, they don't know that it has been reinstated because as of now, only the members of the Divine Council know it has been reinstated. And even after Percy recruits spies, only they will know that the DSS is back in action. Thank you for your continued support!

In response to bring the money's review, what a coincidence, you will be seeing quite a bit of interaction between Percy and the Romans in this chapter! Thank you for your continued support!

Responding to Ryan Fowler's review, yes, actually for the plot I have in mind for the crossover, Percy will be a bit of a lone wolf so it will be nice to see him have a Kyogore like whale pet. Yeah don't worry, Leo and Percy will get plenty of bonding time. In fact, all the demigods that do join the DSS will get a pretty good amount of character development and will have a lot of interaction with Percy. As for how the Romans and the daughters and sons of Athena react to Percy's return, you'll find it very, very soon :) I am honoured that you consider me to be your favourite author and I'll do my best to give you a story that is enjoyable to read! Thank you for your continued support!

In response to IceFire99's review, it's going to be a great experience. As a character, Percy has gone through so much in the past two books that there are just so many textures and dimensions to his character. And the great thing is that this story will show how he has grown as a character and will allow me to explore all that depth and history! Thank you for your continued support!

I would like to thank HellRaiderS for your continued support! Believe me, I have no plans to stop updating any time soon :)

In response to lukiiee321's review, I realised that I had not given the readers a lot of interaction between the members of the Divine Council so I wanted to do that and I am also happy that you liked the changes to Percy's character! Thank you for your continued support!

I would like to thank sidaqlotay07 for your continued support! I know that all the characters seem very OC but that's what a fanfiction is for ;) Glad that you enjoyed the stories!

In response to Arden2709's review, that would have been a great idea but unfortunately, I wrapped up all the reunion scenes in the previous chapter with a lot of them taking place off screen. Sorry about that and thank you for your continued support!

Responding to qwertyuiop123214685's review, he could have secretly reinstated the DSS but that would have led to the minor gods having a big fight with the Olympians if they found out that he had restarted the DSS behind their backs and he couldn't afford to divide the Divine Council. Not when the Titans had already gotten the jump on them. Thank you for your continued support!

Finally, coming to Jubby1905's review, unfortunately, not all of the seven will be DSS agents. In fact, you won't be seeing Piper, Leo, Frank and Hazel at all. I am only going to be focusing on OC Leo, Annabeth, Thalia, Jason, Reyna, Nico and maybe Bianca. I love the seven but I don't want to include too many demigods and then develop all their characters in this AU because the focal point of this trilogy is Percy. And I just cannot have undeveloped characters in any of my stories. However, Percy will spend a lot of time with the demigods I have mentioned above and these six or seven demigods will receive a lot of character development. Thank you for your continued support!

All credit for the characters goes exclusively to Rick Riordan.

Painful, old memories flashed through Percy's mind as he walked through the Royal Atlantean Armoury along with Athena and his father. Now that the Divine Secret Service had been reinstated, he had realised that it was time for him to get back into peak physical condition.

While physical conditioning did not decide his ability to fight as much as it once did, it still made a small yet significant difference. And he had also not wielded a weapon for a very long time. So along with reconditioning his body, he would have to vigorously spar to seamlessly use the decades of combat related muscle memory that had laid dormant for the past three millennia.

However, he had chosen not to wield his swords. He would take up a new weapon. And that was why, as soon as he had been resurrected a few days ago, he had asked the Elder Cyclopes for new weapons. Just before they entered the armoury, he was stopped by his father.

"Percy, are you sure about this? Those swords are a part of you. They are akin to symbols of power. Son, think this through. You don't need to give them up because of some decision that you made millennia ago during the heat of the moment." Poseidon stated with fatherly concern.

He was afraid that Percy would never reach his full potential without his swords. Especially now that they housed a part of Pontus and Thalassa's essence, they were integral to powering Percy's immortal essence.

"No father. Those swords were built for a hero. I am no hero. I created excessive linkages between the mortal and divine worlds. I got involved in a mortal war and manipulated mortals. That war was already dangerous enough without the Olympian Council getting involved but I created a world where mortals could easily be influenced by immortals and Tartarus took advantage of that to kill Achilles and hundreds of thousands of people. And now my hands are stained with the blood of Achilles and all the other innocent people who were butchered." Percy answered as his eyes darkened as he relived the traumatizing experiences of Achilles' death and the Sack of Troy.

"Percy, Achilles' death was not your fault. Neither were the deaths of all those mortals. You do not need to punish yourself this way. Listen to me, you need those swords. They are a part of you." Athena tried to reason but she knew that this would be a futile effort. She had already lost this argument once. She knew how stubborn Percy could be.

"No, Athena. Like I said, this is my last mission. This is my last outing as the General of the Divine Forces. I hung up my swords and armour three thousand years ago because I did not want to be a general anymore. But then I became a vegetable and when I woke up, we were in the middle of a war and I could not turn my back on all of you. I am only fighting for my family. But never again will I ever wield those swords. The Percy who wielded them died three thousand years ago and another man took his place." Percy firmly rebuffed before pushing the doors and walking inside where he was greeted by the Elder Cyclopes.

"It is marvelous to have you back, Perseus." Arges welcomed with a smile.

"It's good to be back, Arges." Percy replied with a nod.

"And it is truly our honour to build weapons and armour for you for a second time." Arges stated.

"Arges, the three of you make all the weapons for the House of Poseidon. You forged my father and uncles' symbols of power and you forged the greatest pair of swords in existence for me. If anybody should be honoured, it should be me." Percy respectfully stated.

"I see that you are still the same man." Brontes stated with a proud smile.

"I wish that was the truth, Brontes." Percy replied with a distant look in his eyes. Everyone present in the room grew concerned at this statement but they didn't say anything out of respect.

"Moving on, Perseus, you asked for weapons that would rival your legendary swords. And while we have done our level best, let me be honest with you, no weapon that we forge for you can ever be equal to your swords. But I assume that Lord Poseidon and Lady Athena have already failed to convince you of that." Steropes stated with a sigh.

"Yes, Steropes. You can spare me that conversation. I am not wielding those swords ever again and I am not going to change my mind." Percy dismissed.

"Alright then, if you are sure about this, we have forged a shield that has been specially designed for you by Lady Athena. The shield is made of an alloy of Imperial Gold and Celestial Bronze and enchanted by Lord Poseidon himself to give a homogeneous alloy. As you know, Imperial Gold has the ability to absorb kinetic energy from impacts and store it. Normally this energy is of no use until it comes out in the form of an explosion when the Imperial Gold breaks, under significant stress. And due to the fact that it is more brittle than Celestial Bronze and hence breaks more easily, it does not yield shields powerful enough for beings of your strength and its detonating property does not help that cause." Arges stated as he unveiled a dull golden coloured parabolic shield with the insignias of an owl and a trident in the centre.

"However, this alloy overcomes those structural flaws as the Celestial Bronze is blended in perfect quantity which not only makes the shield much more durable, it also allows you to reutilize the energy in a more controlled fashion in the form of blunt force. How this works is that when your opponent hits the shield, it absorbs the impact and stores the energy. But a novel feature of this shield of that this stored energy can be deployed on will later on to enhance any attacks with your shield, enhancing the blunt force trauma applied." Brontes explained as Arges handed the shield to Percy.

Percy held the shield in his left hand and unsurprisingly, he found it to be perfectly balanced. However, he was surprised by how light the shield was. It was almost as light as his sword.

"I didn't know that a shield this durable could be this light." Percy stated with an impressed look on his face.

"While Celestial Bronze or Imperial Gold shields are not as durable as Stygian Iron ones, they are much lighter. And an alloy of the first two produces a shield that is as light as the individual metals but orders of magnitude more durable." Steropes stated.

"Can it give instantaneous recoil?" Percy questioned.

"I am afraid not. It was possible to forge it like that but then, even your arm would be susceptible to recoil which negates the entire point of creating this shield. Having no recoil means that this shield allows you to make use of almost all of your overhelming combination of speed, strength and endurance. A conventional shield would only slow you down." Arges answered.

"Lady Athena told us that you would like to use your spear for offense and she brought it here to have it enchanted and strengthened." Brontes stated as he gave Percy's spear back to him.

Percy took the spear and experimentally swung it around and found that the spear was still as light as before but had been balanced better for combat. And he could feel a similar connection to the sea with his spear as he used to with his swords. But he felt like something was still missing.

"It doesn't draw out all my power and amplify it like my swords used to. I have to consciously force out all of my power. Is that because it's only made of Celestial Bronze rather than an alloy of Celestial Bronze and Stygian Iron?" Percy asked.

"That is part of the reason. Unfortunately, we cannot make a spear of the same alloy because it will be too heavy and perhaps too unstable. Perseus, like I said earlier, your swords are weapons that are created only once in history. Made of an alloy of Celestial Bronze and Stygian Iron, it combined the light weight of Celestial Bronze with the indestructibility of Stygian Iron and its ability to rip apart and consume the essences of monsters, permanently stripping them of their ability to reform. It also made them extremely dangerous to mortals, as you could just absorb their souls. But this spear had to be enchanted in order to be able to harm mortals. And unfortunately, it will never draw out and amplify your power." Steropes honestly replied.

"Percy, are you still sure about this? You already wielded those swords once when you saved your brother from Koios." Poseidon stated.

"Yes but then, I had no choice. Now, I do have a choice and I would rather not wield those swords. The spear and shield will suffice." Percy firmly rebuffed before looking at Arges.

"My armour?" Percy asked.

Athena snapped her finger and Percy was immediately enveloped in a new set of lightweight armour that was a mix of traditional hoplite and modern armour and Percy found that this set of armour offered the same protection as his old one while giving him more movement.

"Press the emblem on your breastplate." Arges stated.

Percy did as he was told and his armour changed into the clothes he was wearing before with the only difference being the DSS emblem on the shirt.

"Isn't that convenient." Percy complimented. Brontes then handed him a handgun, a handgun that was very big but one that perfectly nestled itself in Percy's hands.

"It's a twelve millimetre semi automatic handgun. Should almost completely eliminate the need for you to throw javelins as a substitute for archery. A smaller handgun would not be of great help to you and anything bigger would be a hindrance. Filled with bullets that are deadly to every thing that walks. Unlike the handguns that are given to demigods, this one is as powerful as a bow and arrow, the only drawback being the large recoil. But that shouldn't be a problem for you." Steropes boasted.

"I knew that I could always count on the three of you and Athena to ensure I am equipped with the best weaponry. All that is left for me is to train with these." Percy thanked them before turning to Athena.

"But before that, we need to go on a recruitment drive. Let's visit Leo, Annabeth and Thalia." Percy stated and a moment later, he and Athena disappeared in a blue mist. They had to recruit spies.

Annabeth was very nervous. Even though it had been a day since she, Leo and Thalia had recovered from all their injuries, Apollo had insisted that they stay for another day so that he could monitor them. And while Leo and Thalia had spent most of that time sleeping, she had spent almost all that time reading about General Perseus Diaboles.

From what she had gathered from all the books she had read detailing his life and accomplishments, most of which were written by her own mother, she had noticed one ever present detail – his unwavering loyalty and undying love for her mother.

While she was very happy for her mother, Annabeth was afraid that General Perseus would not like her because she was the daughter of his lover. She was afraid that he would see her as nothing more than an illegitimate child. However, her train of thought was interrupted when General Perseus and her mother materialised in front of her.

"Mother, General Perseus." Annabeth respectfully stated and was about to climb down and bow but Percy held up his hand, stopping her.

"Relax Annabeth. You can drop the honourifics and all the other useless formalities around me. Call me Percy." Percy stated with an easy smile.

"You know my name?" Annabeth asked with equal parts of fear and excitement.

"Of course, did you really think that I would not know the name of my girlfriend's daughter?" Percy asked with an amused smile.

"I thought that you would hate me." Annabeth blurted out before realising her mistake when Percy's and Athena's eyes widened.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" Annabeth started but she was cut off by Percy.

"You thought I would hate you just because my girlfriend adopted you? Annabeth, that's incredibly presumptuous." Percy gently chastised and Annabeth mumbled an apology.

"Annabeth, listen to me, I love your mother with all my heart. She is the most important person in my life. But I am not spiteful or unhealthily possessive. And I know that her heart is big enough for me, you and all your other siblings." Percy calmly stated.

"Wow. I did not expect that." Annabeth whispered.

"Kid, I am not as high strung as the Romans would want you to believe. You don't need to think of me as your father or anything. Think of me as the cool guy who is dating your mom. Besides, you are a granddaughter of Thetis. That means you are a member of the House of Poseidon." Percy stated with a cheerful smile and before Annabeth could say anything, she heard two gasps.

"General Perseus." Leo and Thalia respectfully stated and once again, Percy stopped them from bowing.

"Call me Percy. Perseus makes me feel old." Percy stated.

"Percy, you are old." Athena reminded with a fond smile.

"The three thousand years of being a vegetable do not count." Percy indignantly argued.

"General Perseus, er, sorry, Percy, with all due respect, what are you doing here?" Thalia awkwardly asked.

She did not know what to make of this situation. She had thought that General Perseus would be a fair and noble but intimidating man. She had not expected him to be this easygoing and cheerful.

"I came here to thank the three of you for resurrecting me. Without you three, I would either still be a vegetable or would be the Titan King's vessel." Percy sincerely thanked.

"The honour was all ours." Leo respectfully stated.

"Ah Leo, Artemis told me about how you stood up to Koios and told him about the values of family and I have to say, I am mighty impressed with you. In fact, I am extremely impressed with all of you." Percy complimented with a proud smile and the demigods blushed a little. It was not an everyday occurrence to receive a compliment from the Hero of Olympus.

"Yes, the three of you were instrumental in reviving Percy and for that, you will always have not my gratitude but also that of the entire Olympian Council." Athena stated with a kind smile.

"Alright kids, let me be honest with you. There is another reason behind our visit. You see, a few days ago, we managed to convince the Divine Council to reinstate the Divine Secret Service, at least for the duration of this war and it would be our honour to have the three of you as permanent field agents." Percy announced and the three of them were left speechless.

"Now, I just want to tell you that you are free to refuse. While we will train you to unlock your full potential and equip you with the best weaponry available, it will still be a dangerous and grueling job. So take some time and deeply contemplate before you make a decision." Athena stated but the three demigods in front of her had already made their minds.

"We want to join the Divine Secret Service." The three of them simultaneously accepted.

"Are you sure about this?" Percy asked.

The three of them vigorously nodded their heads at him and their sincerity was proved by the feelings of courage, determination and desire to protect their family that Percy could sense in them.

"Now that is fantastic news. We are very happy to have you three as our field agents and both of us look forward to working with the three of you and getting to know you better on a personal basis. I am confident that you three will do a great job." Percy stated with a wide grin. He liked the three of them. A lot. They were simple yet very dedicated to the task at hand.

"I am afraid that this was only a brief visit. We have to leave to recruit a few more agents but we will have a thorough discussion of your duties and other relevant information in the night." Athena informed. A moment later, Percy snapped his fingers and three small bags full of drachmas materialised in the demigods' laps.

"Until then, why don't you go explore Olympus' market district. It's a very vibrant place where you will get whatever you want. Go there, have some fun and remember, I want those bags to be empty." Percy stated with a mischievous smile and he was met with sounds of excitement.

"Take the nature spirit who tends to my gardens with you and be careful to not see gods in their divine forms." Athena instructed before she and Percy disappeared in a grey light. It was time to pay a visit to the Romans.

Reyna had had a very good day. She had mastered a disarming maneuver with her spear that had been taught to her by her mother in her dreams and she had just used that to defeat Jason in their spar.

After that, the two of them had gone to their favourite café in New Rome that was run by a legacy of Venus and then they had returned to the camp arena to spar once again for the monster hunting exercise that would be held tomorrow.

This was practically how they spent time. They never missed any marching drills, sparred everyday to ensure that they were leagues ahead of the other legionaries and always performed very well during the war games. She didn't know what motivated Jason but there was one clear motivation for her.

She knew that Jason would become a Praetor one day. He was a naturally gifted fighter as well as a charismatic leader and his command over lightning was equal parts frightening as well as amazing. And on top of all that, he was a son of Jupiter. She knew that in two or three years, Jason would most certainly be a Praetor. And because Jason was her closest friend, she really didn't want to be separated from him.

For that, she would have to become a Praetor as well. Besides, becoming a Praetor had been a dream ever since she had come to Camp Jupiter a decade ago. And that was why she spent almost all her time training.

She was a natural with the spear while Jason excelled at swordsmanship. In fact, he was the best swordsman and she was best spearwoman Camp Jupiter had seen in decades. The two of them had broken through a line of defense in the last war games entirely on their own. And they had only gotten stronger since then.

"Reyna, you seem a bit distracted. Are you alright? Did I hit you too hard with the shield throw?" Jason questioned with concern.

"I am fine Jason, it's nothing a little Ambrosia and Nectar cannot fix." Reyna dismissed.

That was when the two of them heard a rich, deep and powerful voice from the grandstands –

"That certainly was a very impressive display of skill. You two are some of the most talented demigods that I have ever seen."

Jason and Reyna immediately turned in the direction of the voice and there they saw a very handsome stranger in his mid twenties sitting on a seat .

He was very tall man and even though he was sitting, Reyna could wager that he was at least six and a half feet and he had a very muscular yet lean build with arms that seemed to be strong enough to tear a wall off a building.

He was wearing a light purple shirt with the sleeves folded and tucked into white pants. His face looked like it was chiseled out of marble and he was sporting a shadow stubble while his jet black hair looked like it had been swept by a breeze. And even though he was wearing sea green aviators with a golden frame, Reyna knew that both of them were under his piecing gaze.

"Who are you? How did you get in here? How long have you been here?" Reyna questioned with a twinge of suspicion.

"I am Percy Jackson and I am a veteran who has been brought back to fight the enemies of the gods. As to how I got here? I know my way around here and I have been watching you since the beginning of your spar. May I know your names?" Percy smoothly stated before asking.

"I am Jason Grace, son of Jupiter." Jason proudly stated.

"And I am Reyna, daughter of Minerva and legacy of Mars. Show us the mark of the legion." Reyna introduced before asking.

Percy acquiesced and showed Jason and Reyna the illusion of an SPQR tattoo on his right forearm, where they saw that he had ten lines, indicating ten years of service. Reyna's eyes narrowed ever so slightly when she saw that he was a legacy. Even though she was not feeling any waves of power from the stranger in front of her, she knew that he was definitely not some weak legacy.

"Which cohort did you serve in?" Reyna asked.

"Fifth Cohort. I was just an unidentified legacy that Lupa had picked up near the wolf house. I didn't have a fancy letter of recommendation for the first, wasn't the child of an Olympian to get into second or third and was not good enough with the sword to get into fourth. So like all unidentified newbies, I went to the Fifth Cohort. But I am curious, why would a son of Jupiter and a daughter of Minerva join the Fifth Cohort? You could have easily gotten into the third at the very least." Percy replied.

"I wanted to show those arrogant douchebags in the First and Second Cohorts that Fifth Cohort was not a place with a bunch of losers. The legionnaires here are the nicest of all cohorts and someone is always willing to help you. It is like a family." Jason answered.

"Jason is my best friend so when he decided that he wanted to join the Fifth Cohort, I joined it as well." Reyna stated without any hesitation.

"Tell me something, you look like you are strong enough to cave in a man's face with a single punch, your hands are calloused like that of a master swordsman but you weren't a Centurion. You look like you are in your mid twenties but have ten years of service, implying that you retired only a few years ago. We have been friends with Gwen for the past seven years and have visited the Fifth Cohort numerous times, yet we never saw you there. Nor did we hear of any legionnaire from the Fifth Cohort retiring in the past five years. Who are you?" Reyna questioned.

There was something about this man. His name, his supposed history, the confidence he carried, his build, nothing seemed to add up. And there was something so familiar about him which Reyna couldn't identify. She felt like she knew who he really was but it felt as if that information had been sealed away in a corner of her brain to prevent her from accessing it.

Before Percy could answer, all of them heard a message echoing from the speakers in the arena –

"Attention legionaries, Lady Minerva has graced us with her presence today and she has come here to deliver a message from Olympus. Gather in the Field of Mars immediately."

"Looks like your mother is here. I will answer all your questions later when I buy you two a cup of coffee. But for now, let's get to the Field of Mars. We wouldn't want to keep an Olympian waiting." Percy stated with an easygoing smile as he got up and walked towards the exit.

"There's something fishy about this guy. He is definitely not telling us something." Reyna stated as she glared at Percy's back.

"You can grill him later Reyna. Let's go." Jason stated as he ran towards the exit and Reyna followed him.

He was right. She would get time to interrogate him later on. For now, they needed to get to the Field of Mars immediately because if her mother had come here to personally inform the legion, it was something very important.

Jason and Reyna joined the flank of the Fifth Cohort legionnaires in the Field of Mars in a few minutes and there they saw Minerva in a purple toga standing on a makeshift platform in front of the Cohorts with the Praetors and Senators next to her bowing down. The legionnaires soon took suit as they bowed to the goddess of war and wisdom.

"Rise legionnaires." Minerva stated and all of them rose and stood as stiff as wooden boards.

"Today I am here to inform you that the gods' greatest and oldest enemies – the Titans, have risen and that means we are going to be fighting another Divine war." Minerva grimly stated and an uneasy silence enveloped all of them.

They had all heard rumours from their Greek brothers and sisters but now the gods had confirmed it themselves. They were going to war.

"But I am not here to deliver only bad news. No, I am here to reintroduce you to the greatest hero to ever walk the Earth. Your forefathers called him Salvator Orbis because he sacrificed himself to save the world from Tartarus, the Protogenos of the Abyss. But three of your Greek siblings managed to help us resurrect the great General Perseus Diaboles and as soon as he was revived, he repelled an attack by Koios, the Titan Lord of the North and the Titan of Foresight. And now he is here to lead all of you into an eternal triumph over the Titans." Minerva boomed.

The entire field went completely silent, unable to process the staggering piece of information that had just been shared with them. A moment later, Percy materialised next to Minerva and that was when Jason's and Reyna's eyes popped out of their heads when they saw him in all his armoured, intimidating glory.

The tall, chiseled stranger that they had just talked to was none other than the legendary Salvator Orbis. As soon as the Roman legionnaires, Senators and Praetors came out of their trance, they fell to their knees in a deep bow. Never in their dreams had they expected to be in the presence of General Perseus Diaboles.

"At ease, Romans." Percy calmly ordered as he pinned the Romans with his mesmerizing sea green eyes.

"Now, I know that none of you have ever seen me and that this must be a huge shock to all of you. It's a huge shock to me as well because for me, it was just a few weeks ago that I told Aeneas to build a civilization that would unify all those who worshipped the gods and now here I am, addressing his descendants. But I am very proud of all of you and your forefathers because you stuck to your duty and while I am sad that such a glorious civilization fell, you left a great mark on history." Percy loudly stated with pride evident in his voice.

"Children of Rome, your ancestors fought barbarians to protect the homeland, to protect the foundations of the republic and to protect my ideals. Now, I ask all of you to take up your arms once again. But this time to fight the barbaric Titans who are intent on reversing all this progress and taking the world back to the Stone Age. I ask you not to fight for me but to fight with me. Let us raise the banners of the Twelfth Legion over the defeated remains of our enemies to remind everyone of our triumph over the Titans! PRO DEORUM!" Percy roared as waves of power erupted from him.

Courage saturated the Romans as all of them roared back –

"PRO DEORUM!"

Minerva did not even try to hide the proud smile on her face. Percy had just spoken to the Romans for a few minutes but he had already raised their morale to levels no one would have ever been able to. It looked like three millennia of resting had done nothing to blunt his magnetic personality that invoked unwavering loyalty.

Percy was having a discussion with the Roman Senate and he was already bored out of his mind. There was a reason why he avoided the Atlantean Court like it was a plague. He had hated politics then and he still hated it now.

Even though he was good at it and was diplomatically gifted, that didn't mean he liked it. He was positive that no one liked being stuck in some snore fest with a bunch of bedsheet wearing twenty and thirty year olds and that was why he had refused to wear one himself.

He had showed up in his armour because while he didn't like his current job that much either, he was still a general. And while he would prefer to just be in normal clothes for any meeting, he would any day prefer to wear an armour over a politician's outfit. Because even though he was very good with his words, he was more of a man of action.

Of course, some pesky god of boundaries who was apparently the guardian of New Rome had tried to weakly object to his attire but a mild glare had been enough to silence him. He was brought out of thoughts when a senator addressed him.

"Salvator, what are your thoughts on creating task forces from each of the cohorts and sending them to attack these enemy bases that you speak of?" The Senator respectfully asked.

"They will get butchered. Even if you send an entire cohort to storm one enemy base, they will be slaughtered." Percy bluntly stated, stunning the senators.

"The Titans have not only gotten the jump on us but they also have spies everywhere. They have spies in here, in Camp Half-Blood and New Greece as well as in Olympus. They will know that there is an attack coming weeks before any assault." Minerva revealed and anxious murmurs began to spread across the Senate.

"Do not panic, I have already borrowed a few battalions of soldiers from Atlantis and have started hunting down traitors in Olympus and all physical and metaphysical entrances to the city have been shut down. Only the members of the Divine Council or those with them can get in and out of the city. I expect you and your Greek siblings to do the same. Seal off the camp and the city. You have a week to recall any demigods on missions. Double the intensity of the training of the legionnaires. Recruit veterans. Until you receive further orders, no one is allowed in and no one is allowed out. We will be setting up unbreakable physical and metaphysical barriers that will prevent you from receiving or sending information to anyone apart from the Divine Council." Percy strictly ordered.

He and Athena had already planned a way to weed out traitors and spies in New Rome and New Greece but it was better that he kept that bit of information to himself.

"But Salvator, the enemy forces would not have gathered completely in such an early stage of the war. Don't you think it is best to roll the dice and defeat them when they are still gathering." Octavian, a Centurion of the First Cohort and a legacy of Apollo, suggested.

Percy shifted his attention to the legacy of Apollo and tore into Octavian's mind when he sensed some malevolence radiating from the legacy. And there, he saw what the legacy's true intentions were.

"Tell me Centurion, do the lives of your men and women mean nothing to you?" Percy questioned with a hurricane like edge to his voice that caused a shiver to run down the spines of all the senators.

"Of course Salvator, my legionnaires mean the world to me and-" Octavian frantically started but he was cut off by Percy.

"SILENCE!" Percy boomed as he rose from his seat and Octavian covered in fear.

"This is why I dislike bureaucrats and politicians being in charge of armies. It allows power hungry fools and sniveling liars like you who do not know about the value of a single life and are only worried about your own glory to dictate the lives of your soldiers. You are officially stripped of your rank and as punishment for disregarding the lives of your own brothers and sisters, you will guard the borders of the camp for the next ten years. Now scram." Percy punished in a low dangerous voice as the wind started to swirl around him. And Octavian did just that. He ran because his life depended on it, leaving behind a stunned senate.

"Let me make this very clear. I care about only one thing – my family. And all of you are a part of my family. I am not focused on eliminating threats to the gods at all costs. I am focused on protecting all of you and minimizing the casualties during this war. This approach may drag the war for sometime but I will not throw lives at our enemy. We are not the Titans." Percy firmly stated.

"Salvator, we will unhesitatingly follow whatever you say because we have no doubt that whatever actions you take will be in our best interest. We will train the legionnaires to the best extent possible to ensure their own survival and we shall weed out any spies." Diana, a daughter of Apollo and one of the Praetors stated with a bow of respect and the other senators followed suit.

"You are all good men and women. You are the guardians of a great legacy. At one point or the other, some of you may have been motivated by reasons that are not so noble but this is your chance to redeem yourselves and fulfill your duty to the state." Percy stated in a warmer, more gentle voice that eased the tension in the room.

"We will be taking Jason Grace, son of Jupiter and my daughter Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano, two legionnaires of the Fifth Cohort with us to Olympus." Minerva stated.

"Lady Minerva, may we know the reason behind this? Are they traitors?" Thomas, a son of Mars and the other Praetor of New Rome, asked with some concern evident in his voice.

"Praetor Thomas, you will find out in due time. But rest assured, they are not traitors." Minerva answered and Thomas sighed in relief.

He was happy that the two most talented demigods in the legion were not traitors. That would have been a severe blow to the legionnaires' morale.

"If you have no other questions, this meeting is dismissed." Percy stated.

He and Athena were about to disappear in a blue mist when an Iris Message from Hestia popped up in front of them –

"Nephew, niece, your presence is urgently needed on Olympus because the Hesperides have betrayed us and have freed their father."

Percy and Athena wasted no time and disappeared in a blue mist as soon as the Iris message dissolved. This was not good news. Not only had the Hesperides betrayed them, they had freed the Terror of Olympus and the General of the Othryian Forces – Atlas.

Hey guys! As promised, I am back to weekly updates and I couldn't think of any better way to cement the return to normalcy other than a cliffhanger. I'm sure this raises eyebrows because we have barely finished the Lightning Thief and it seems like I have jumped the gun to the Titan's Curse but all your questions will be answered in due time.

Percy giving up wielding his swords may seem like a confusing and unwanted plot point but I just want to point out that for him, it has only been weeks since Achilles' death and the Sack of Troy. So he is still suffering from the emotional trauma of those events, no matter how much he tries to hide it. And his swords are the biggest remainder of his failure to save Achilles.

However, I have also tried to show his cheerful side through interactions with Leo, Annabeth, Thalia, Jason and Reyna. These five along with possibly Nico and Bianca will probably be the only demigods who will be main characters in this story. It may seem like very few but I don't want to waste time developing too many characters and risk dragging the plot.

I have also kept Octavian's power hungry behaviour and have gotten rid of him early on because to be honest, his character has no place in this plot line because the Romans and Greeks don't hate each other. I have also shown the authoritative yet charismatic side of Percy in this chapter and have tried to highlight just how revered he is by the Romans.

Also, a shout-out to Ryan Fowler for giving me the idea about Percy using a shield! This was suggested to me long ago during the first story but I'm glad that I could finally incorporate it into the series!

Read and review, I hope that all of you enjoyed this chapter! Have a fantastic day!
