Chapter 27

"Man first class sure is nice!" A snooty voice was heard as they boarded the train to Kyoto.

Grumbles were heard throughout the class until a female voice called back, "They sure don't need anymore snacks in first class. Lord knows they're pig headed enough."

The nameless duo from the main building twisted their faces in anger. Mizuki couldn't care less though since Okuda giggled at her comment. Mizuki had told Chiba that she wanted to sit with the other girl to get to know them better. Chiba, being his amazing and understanding self, encouraged her to get to know her fellow classmates more.

The only downside was that she had to sit in the same vicinity as the red headed snake. The rest of the group could only pray the trip would end without someone other than Korosensei getting killed.

Speaking of the yellow octopus, he was nowhere to be found on the train. He wasn't hard to spot even with his "impeccable" disguise, so he definitely missed the train.

"UWAAAAAH!"

Everyone's attention turned to Nagisa at his scream. It became clear as to why when they looked out the window at their teacher attached to the side of the train. Mizuki laughed under her breath. Only someone as quirky as Korosensei would miss the train for snacks and attach himself to the train when he could easily go to the next station with his Mach 20 speed.

The normalcy of the train ride lulled Mizuki into a hazy state. She smiled and laughed quietly next to Okuda as she observed the different antics of her classmates.

"Hey, I was going to buy drinks for everyone. What would you guys like?" Kanazaki Yukiko asked them as she stood up. Mizuki's first impression of her was just like everyone else: she was pretty. Beyond that, however, she seemed a little sad, but that wasn't uncommon for the students in Class E.

"I'll go with you!" Kayano gleefully offered.

"Ah, me too!" Okuda joined. She turned to the girl next to her, "Would you like to come Hiyashi-san?"

Mizuki hesitated, but the other girls looked at her invitingly so she agreed with a shy smile.

"Don't trip on your way out." Karma taunted.

Having no response, Mizuki just sneered at him before joining the other girls who had started walking ahead.

"Excuse me." She pushed past the group of guys standing in her way. Had she not been trying to catch up, she might have noticed the familiar cute notebook in the hands of their leader.

"Nagisa, how do you know so much about the assassinations in Kyoto?" Mizuki asked with a stunned expression after his small lecture about the different assassination sites they walked through.

He laughed shyly and rubbed the back of his neck, "That was all from Korosensei's guide. I read it while researching for the best spot to assassinate him."

"Clearly someone doesn't do their homework." Karma mocked her.

"As if you did." She shot back. "Don't think I didn't see your face when Nagisa was listing off those facts."

"Tch."

"Oi! Enough talk about assassination! I just want to eat some good snacks!" Kayano cheered. Her mouth was already watering at the thought of all of Kyoto's delicacies.

"I have to agree with Kayano on this." Sugino sighed. "I'd rather not think about assassination on our trip. At least for now."

"Sorry Sugino-san." Kanazaki apologized, "We have to go check out our assassination site first before we take Korosensei there later."

Immediately Sugino turned into a blushing stuttering mess. "O-of course, Kanazaki-san! Let's go, everyone!" He said, suddenly taking charge of the group.

"Eh~ I just want to rest and get some of Kyoto's sugary sweet coffee." Karma complained to no one in particular.

"Don't be such a baby. I thought you loved assassination." Mizuki ribbed him as she walked past him to follow the group.

He frowned. She just kept getting on his nerves. "I do. Cause I'm good at it, unlike other people in this class."

"Oh? I seem to remember an embarrassed boy with a bright pink apron." Mizuki said with her finger to her chin as she pretended to ponder. "Hmmm I wonder… that was YOU wasn't it, ~Karma-kun~?"

His face flushed pink as he recalled the humiliation he felt that day. He tried to snark back at her, but Kayano interrupted in hopes to prevent a fight from breaking out, "Heh, the deeper you go into the Gion district the quieter it gets. There really aren't any signs of life."

"That's why I chose it. It's perfect for assassination." Kanazaki said with a deceptively sweet smile. Honestly, how does one look so pretty while talking about planning a murder?

Mizuki had to commend the girl for her thoughtfulness in choosing the location. It would really be ideal for a sniper to hit their target without collateral damage. At least, that's what she believed until she heard a nasty voice calling out.

"Now why would you kids walk into a place like this? You're just making our job so much easier."

The group turned around in shock. Blocking them off from where they entered was a group of wanna be gangsters.

The hair on Mizuki's arms raised as she turned and realized they were blocked off from both sides. The only calm one was Karma. She wasn't sure if his composure was a facade or not, but even knowing his fighting prowess, she didn't have much faith in all of them getting out of this unscathed.

Mizuki could practically feel Okuda shaking next to her. Though she wasn't doing much better, she tried to cover the other girl by shielding her with her own body.

Karma casually called out to the group of boys surrounding them, "Well, you gents don't seem to be here for sightseeing."

"This is really just perfect." One of the gangsters sneered. "All you boys have to do is go home and leave the women here."

Rather than a verbal response, Karma dashed up to him and grabbed his face only to slam it back onto the ground. Chaos soon ensued.

The guys all rushed Karma who fought back with ease. The ones in front of them were soon taken care of. Turning to Nagisa, Karma joked, "See Nagisa-kun, if there aren't any witnesses, then there's no problem even if I fight."

"Look out!" Mizuki cried. Karma's back was still turned as the leader of the gangsters swung a pole at the red haired boy. Before she knew what she was doing, she had jumped forward to grab the leader's arm. The momentum of his swing was too much for her. A loud bang rang in the air

Karma staggered forward at the force of the blow, but he managed to stay upright. As he turned, he saw scared hazel eyes staring into his shocked golden ones. Mizuki then found herself slammed against the wall behind her causing her to lose consciousness. The last thing she heard was a voice calling her name.
