Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Mechanical Marvels. Enjoy the 2100-word chapter. I don't own DBZ, Akira Toriyama and a few others do.
21 crossed her legs under her as she started to read through the notes she had complied. The android had run a series of tests on both herself and 23 in the meantime. She flicked the next note to the side as she started to read.
"Hmm…" 21 hummed to herself as she started to skim over the data. "23, can you come here for a second?" 21 asked while she raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah?" 23 asked while he slowly started to walk around the base.
21 looked at the other android while she continued to raise an eyebrow. The new android had short black hair which clashed with her long white hair. He also wore what seemed like white Red Ribbon Army armor which was placed over a purple shirt. He also seemed to have red boots as well and he seemed to be a little taller than her.
She started into the amethyst eyes of the cyborg as he sat down next to her. 23 waited for her to speak while she cleared her throat. There was a gleam in her eye, as she started to think of what to say.
"Did the notes say anything about what we're like?" 23 asked while 21 nodded to herself.
"Considering that both of us happen to be androids? Yes, it does." 21 responded while she frowned to herself. "There were many androids here, biological androids, mechanical units…" 21 started to say before 23 shifted towards her.
"Aren't those types of androids cyborgs?" 23 asked as he tilted his head to the side. "The biological ones, I mean. They aren't androids because an android is a human-like robot. I mean, from what I heard at the time." 23 stated to which 21 nodded to herself.
She clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she did so. It seemed that 23 was smarter than he appeared to be. The android smiled to herself over the fact that she had someone who had some knowledge at the moment.
"Yes, that is the correct term. I am still curious why they insisted on calling it that." 21 responded while she flipped another note. "Still? It seems I fall under another category of android while you're a cyborg type. It seems odd, but both of us seem to be modified differently from other such androids." 21 stated to herself more than her friend.
23 nodded, slowly starting to absorb the info while he started to think on said info. 21 seemed to be more advanced even though she looked as human as the records showed 2 other androids were.
"And how exactly are we modified?" 23 asked to which the scientific android hummed to herself.
'Good question… Are we the last 2 androids in the line? I'm curious if they designed us for a certain mission. It doesn't seem like it and we're still functioning despite these modifications.' 21 thought before she frowned to herself.
"This is weird, isn't it?" 23 asked himself. "I don't know what to say. I'm sorry, this is still kinda weird when it comes down to it." 23 added while his friend nodded to herself.
"It's fine," 21 responded while she set the notepad down. "I don't know at the moment; these machines are limited to simple analysis. I don't know what we're like honestly. There needs to be more research before I can give a proper answer." 21 stated as she rubbed at her temples.
She looked around at the machinery that she had used to study them both. It was old, outdated, and in need of maintenance. She didn't know where to get new parts for them currently, but she refused to leave the base… She didn't know what their powers were or their limits. A good scientist didn't push their limits until they had all the answers to their situation.
"Are you ok?" 23 asked with a raised eyebrow as to which there was a nod.
"Yes, just a bit confused at the moment on what to say or do." 21 added to herself more than her friend at the time.
It bothered him how she seemed to react to this sort of thing. She seemed rather off but it wasn't like was really in a position to judge her based on that. He was also an android after all and they were similarly both part of the same line.
23 simply decided to place his abilities into helping her at the moment. If she did something off or odd? He'd raise his concerns that rather than now when nothing seemed to come of it. He cleared his throat before he shook his head and looked at her while he pondered what to say next.
"What tests are we conducting?" 23 asked with a raised eyebrow. "We still need equipment to do that. This lab seems rather out of date as of now." 23 added to which his friend nodded.
21 tapped her black polished nails on the computer in front of her. This lab seemed to be a few years older and from what little she saw? The computers weren't updated to modern specs. They were at the moment advanced, but the technology around them? There was no real way to conduct any sort of tests on anything at the moment without the proper equipment.
Still? There were ways of getting this type of gear and some ways were illegal and some weren't. She didn't want to have to resort to violence if she didn't have to at the moment.
It helped that neither wanted of them had any real presence in the world. She didn't want to do anything at the moment that ended with someone being killed.
"23?" 21 asked while she frowned and looked at one of the computers in the room with interest. "Do you… Remember anything before now? Any memories or sorts of abilities that we may have had when we were still being created." 21 asked her friend who frowned at this.
He didn't know what to say as his mind was rather foggy at the time. He simply said what he had known at the time.
"Only what the computers had said." 23 said while he looked around at his surroundings. "There are still some patches that are weird when it comes down to it." 23 said while he frowned to himself.
He racked his brain for any memories he may or may not have missed. It felt odd to him. All around him felt odd the more he began to question it. He almost felt some form of unease around them that made what he wanted to seem possible with the correct time and effort thrown in. It all helped ensure that it was perfectly catered as he wanted it to be.
Still? He had been rather scared when it came down to topics that conflicted with all that he had been around 21. What did she think of all of this? Did she hate it? Did she find some of their flaws when it came to their topics when he considered thinking of what to do next? The more he considered the idea that 21 and he were similar all? The more he found himself scared and thrown off.
Still? He looked at the caring and interested 21 who seemed to be busy studying himself in front of her. He slowly floated towards her as she typed on one of the terminals. There was more time to be down.
"The data might be a bit outdated…" 21 said while she tapped a key that flipped into position as she did so. "But the tech here isn't. It's still capable of something I need from it." 21 said while she sighed to herself and frowned with interest before she planned what to do next.
There had to be many changes to this place to get these pieces of technology that had controlled the rest of the world. First, she needed better computers that had any real power in their world. Then she needed better gear that wouldn't fall apart with her experiments.
She looked at 23 who seemed to be waiting for her instructions. She raised an eyebrow at her fellow android while she seemed to be waiting for something to happen.
He was a nice partner and assistant that hadn't once made her sad. She pondered if they were both simply woken up at the same time or if it had been on purpose. They seemed to be similar enough that they were purposely made to be entangled forever within their skills. She'd run a test to see what had both had anything in common besides their abilities.
"What happens when the research is done and recorded?" 23 asked. "There's little research to be done without the proper gear." 23 stated to which he frowned as he did so.
It wasn't a lie. They hadn't the gear to handle this type of work when it came to it. They needed more gear to be able to handle their experiments properly and it wasn't entirely in their cards to do so. He glanced over his shoulder as the woman sat on one of the computer terminals and crossed her legs under her as she glanced at her friend.
She said nothing while she started to scribble more data on a datapad. She was well aware of the fact that there was little to do and that there was also plenty of work that had yet to be done.
Still? She felt off when she was here and it started to bother her at this moment. It felt as if she was constantly… Hungry, which was to be impossible. There was more research into that to be done and so little time to honestly do it. The fact that neither side had any real data on it, to begin, helped and it made her wonder if she was an android, to begin. She tapped her fingers against her chin and gazed at them a second later. It had become honestly a rather interesting thing that she had no real memories of what she had been before this.
Thousands of questions and no real answers as to what she had been or what this place was. it felt as if she was constantly in a hole and constantly trying to remember details that she had no real reason to try and understand.
It was as if she was honestly trying to remember something that she didn't wish to remember. Had it been an odd memory? One that laid scars across her mind and was repressed for some reason she hadn't yet fathomed? Perhaps, she had no real idea what she was had been before now and it seemed as if her brain didn't wish it to honestly change.
She glanced at 23 who had stayed silent as he seemed to be doing this entire time. He wanted to be doing something besides this and it was something to study at the end of the day. This was far beyond what she had trusted to find.
She smiled at her friend who tilted his head. 23 slowly approached as she patted the console next to her. both androids had a weird bond yet it was also one they found somewhat symbiotic at the moment.
One which they intended to discuss at the end of the day and one which had new results. She smiled as he sat next to her and pondered his best more to be. This had to end before something else bothered them.
They all wanted to end this and the best way to do that was to relax and for all of what to do next. He tapped on his nose while he started to glance at her once more. He was not to be done anytime soon. He had been ready to do more work while he glanced at his friend while he nodded to himself.
He glanced at his friends and started to tap on his legs as he did so. There was a lot more to do next. He tapped at her nose and slowly started to watch her smile.
"There's a lot we didn't do next as of now if I'm honest. We don't need tech to do research. It simply isn't the time or place." 21 heard as he crossed his arms. "I'm happy we woke up here and both of us can ponder stuff like this. Yet I'm simply a soldier as of now." 23 stated while he frowned to himself.
21 was a scientist and he was simply a soldier. He was not once to handle business. He was on the end of this and he wished to be while he smiled at her while he tapped to her frowned to him while he glanced towards her. He was not to be on this end of the road when today ended as he glanced around her.
He smiled while he sighed to do more ponder while this ended. He was rather interested in it while he sighed to himself before today ended while he frowned, he glanced around at the stuff around him. 21 nodded while he glanced around at this area.
He was rather happy to be around her when the day ended. This was all he wished to own and all that he had planned it to be. 23 was rather curious as he crossed his legs under him. He wished to be ready.
"There's always a reason these sorts of things end as of the moment." 21 said while she started to snap as she frowned to herself. "I'm wondering to see why I had simply been woken up." 21 stated and closed her eyes.
"Perhaps it's simply a part of destiny we aren't aware of. We don't expect anything." 23 stated while he stared at the ceiling above. "21? We can't stay in the lab forever. You aren't a mecha type and neither are you from what little I noticed. We still need to eat and it isn't exactly as if this place was to end." 23 said while this was done and dusted.
He ran a hand through his hair while he tapped on his legs. 21 noticed this and blinked once more. He was happy with this plan and was ready for her designs to be realized at the moment.
