Hitoshi POV
"The third phase of the Hunter Exam is over. Twenty-five applicants have passed including one deceased."
A door opened on the side of the tower, letting sunlight in. Contrary to what I originally thought I didn't sleep at all. I've gone over a week without sleep before so I shouldn't be having any issues, but listening to kids/teens whine and talk for three days is exhausting. Kudos to myself for living through highschool.
One by one everyone left the tower. Hisoka and I were the last ones to exit. I breathed in some fresh air.
"Congratulations for your escape from trick tower." the guy whom I still don't know the name of started, "Now, you only need to take the Fourth and Final Phases. The Fourth Phase will be held on Zevil Island over there." he jabbed a finger behind him pointing at an island, "Let's proceed." He snapped his fingers and a cart was wheeled over. "For the next Phase you will need to draw lots."
The idiotic crowd of applicants once again started muttering doubts of confusion.
The nameless guy started talking again, "There are 24 number cards in this box. In other words, these numbers represent all the current candidates. Now, I need you to come here and draw a card in the order you exited the tower. The first place, please." He dramatically gestured to the box.
Hisoka walked up to the box, his fingers brushing up against my hand in a short 'goodbye'.
He pulled a card and walked back towards me. Gitta-Illu walked up next and pulled a card. This continued until it was my turn. I walked up to the box and took the last card. I walked back over to Hisoka after.
"Please go ahead and remove the sticker from your card."
I removed the sticker from my card, number 198. One of the brothers. It should be easy enough, they seem rather simple minded.
"The number you see is your target. This box has recorded the number that each of you drew," he placed his hand on top of the box in question. "Each card was tallied, and then stored in memory. So if you like, you're free to dispose of your cards, it makes no difference at this point." The guy went on to explain the objective of the next Phase. Killing is ok, Hisoka is making a face, he seems pleased but you can never really tell with him. Gitta-Illu is indifferent, some applicants are confident and others fear for their lives. You need 6 points to pass, your own card is worth 3, your opponent's card is worth 3 and any other card is worth 1.
We all boarded a boat. Some lady was talking about something but I wasn't listening. I simply sat down on the ground by one of the railings and closed my eyes. I wasn't sleeping mind you, I was simply resting my eyes.
I was sitting between Hisoka and Gitta-Illu, which is the only reason I was resting my eyes.
At some point I felt a hand gently shaking me. "Hi-to-shi~ we're here, wake up~."
I blinked my eyes open slowly, why is it so bright? Someone turn the sun off please.
I got up off the ground and stood with the other applicants.
"We've arrived at Zevil Island!" The guide lady said. "Now, starting with the candidate who took the least amount of time to pass the Third Phase, please get off the boat in order. You'll go ashore one at a time! With two minute intervals separating each of the applicants, alright? You'll be on the island for exactly one week. That means you only have seven days to collect your six points, and then return to this location! We'll now start with the first applicant!"
"Come find me when you're finished kitten~ Gittarackur and I will be waiting~."
I gave a small nod as Hisoka made his way off the boat. This continued for a while until I was the last applicant left on the boat. I stepped off the boat when the banshee gave me the go-ahead.
I calmly walked into the forest.
My target should be easy to find. The three brothers aren't the quietest bunch around, nor are they the most careful/sneaky. I've got 7 days to find them so I might as well rest now and hunt them during the night.
I climbed a tree and rested against the branches higher up, I pulled some of the leafage towards me to hide me. I scanned my surroundings quietly until I was certain there was no one around.
I closed my eyes and fell into a light sleep.
I snapped my eyes open and looked around. It was still relatively dark outside. I think it's time to start hunting.
I stood up and started jumping across tree branches, scanning the ground. I spotted Killua calmly making his way through the forest. He stopped and talked to someone, daring them to come out of their hiding spots. I knew he wasn't talking to me as I have not been following him since the beginning of this exam. I took a deep breath and reached out to my surroundings. 3 presences on the ground and one in the trees further back.
It must be the brothers. I leapt in their general direction and stopped above the brother wearing a blue turtleneck. I waited for Killua to continue walking before silently jumping down and covering the guy's mouth with my hand. His brothers were already moving forwards again, so they wouldn't notice a thing. "Hello~." I whispered in the guy's ear. At this point he was trembling and struggling. He might have even been crying. I removed my hand from his mouth so that he might respond. "H-" the poor guy never even got to finish his word before his eyes went blank and he fell under my control. "Which one of you three is number 198?" I quietly asked. "Me." he responded.
Ah, I suppose it's my lucky day. "Give me your badge." he complied. "Now, we never had this conversation, you never saw me and if your brothers ask where you've been make up some random excuse. Now go away." I ordered.
I shoved his badge in my pocket and climbed back up the tree I jumped down from. I hid my presence and waited for the person in the trees to pass me by.
I sent Hisoka a quick text stating I was finished and he in return shared his location with me. I placed my phone back in my pocket, made sure my badge was still on my chest and then sped off in Hiso's general direction.
I jumped down from the trees into the clearing my phone said Hisoka was in. I saw some random dead guy on the ground and Hisoka and Illumi, who was holding a bunch of his needles in his hands.
"Ah Hitoshi~ so glad you could join us." Hisoka greeted.
"Hitoshi, I'm spending the rest of this exam in the ground. Care to join me?" Illumi asked.
"Sure, I don't have anything better to do." I responded.
Illumi put his needles away and began digging a hole with his hands. He was done in record time, he picked me up and placed me in the hole. He jumped in right after. "I need to take a nap before the exam ends, and so does Hitoshi. Good luck to you." Illumi said. I gave Hisoka a wave and Illumi dropped further down into the hole and covered us up.
Gon POV (Lol)
'Hitoshi can speak?' I thought. 'Why would he lie, and why does my brain feel foggy?'
Wow, shortest pov ever. I'm not really happy with this chapter but it was more of a filler anyway so it doesn't matter. I'm experiencing writer's block for all my stories right now so the next update will probably be a little while.
Have a good one!
