Please note, Killua has not yet left and will be eating dinner with his family (let's pretend they're a regular family that all eat dinner together for the sake of the plot yea?), during Killua + Silva's talk, Killua has to spend the night in the mansion before being able to leave, so that is why. Gon, Leorio and Kurapika are already on the grounds but will be spending the night in the servants quarters, because plot.
Third Person POV
The Zoldycks and Hitoshi were all seated in the dining room of the mansion. The Zoldycks rarely ever get (welcomed) guests and wanted to meet him. So there they were, Silva, Zeno, Kikyo, Milluki, Kalluto, and Illumi all staring intently at their guest; whom by this point was rather uncomfortable.
Illumi was rather glad his family didn't kill Hitoshi, albeit they now wanted them to marry. Illumi is most definitely not opposed to the idea, he rather likes Hitoshi. It's just, Hitoshi doesn't seem to like him. Thinking about it leaves him with an empty feeling in his chest, their entire 'adventure' together was a complete accident. Illumi had walked into Hisoka's room that day to help him with a problem and potentially gain a valuable asset, not to actually become friends. 'Is friends even the right word?' he thought, assassins aren't supposed to have friends, so they can't be friends. At least if they were married Illumi could justifiably be around him and talk to him, maybe even love him. His parents liked each other, they were married, so could he like Hitoshi if they were married?
Illumi's Father always told him not to make friends, not to become emotionally attached to something or someone (and boy did he mess that one up). He cares for his family, but his family is strong, they can defend themselves. If they get caught or killed, then they were simply too weak and didn't even deserve to be a part of this family. Hitoshi can protect himself, so he can afford to get attached, right? Would his family shame him for it? Killua made friends, didn't he? And he's still alive, so can't he also make friends? What is a friend?
The entire time Illumi was off in another universe thinking about things he never thought he would have to, Killua was glaring daggers at Shinsou; his soon to be brother in law if his parents get their way. The thought of having him around made Killua want to throw up in his mouth. Killua was sure the guy was scheming, cooking up some diabolical plan to hurt his family, and more importantly to hurt Gon. Shinsou somehow managed to get Gon and the other two wrapped around his finger, trapping them in his game. Killua wouldn't let that happen. Shinsou was hiding something, and he'd figure out what it was; if it's the last thing he did.
While Killua was over planning a murder (you're making Mommy so pround!), Kikyo was already planning a wedding. She thought Hitoshi was a perfect match for her Illumi. They were both tall, handsome, expressionless, powerful, ah it was wonderful! The only issue was she wouldn't get any grandbabies, with them both being guys and all. Of course Hitoshi's gender wouldn't stop her from finding a wonderfully girly kimono he would fit in. She could already see it! The daughter she never had! She imagined he'd put up a bit of resistance- nothing a little duck tape and chains can't fix- but he'd come around. She only had to make sure they got married.
Zeno on the other hand was not planning anything. He was simply sipping his tea and watching Hitoshi along with the rest of his family. He noticed the stares were making Hitoshi uncomfortable, but didn't comment on it. If he can't take a few stares, how's he going to handle the wedding Kikyo is probably planning? The boy needs to get a better hold of his emotions, he's revealing too much. He'd have a stronger mask by the end of his stay, that Zeno was sure of. He'd also throw the occasional knife at him to keep Hitoshi on his toes, an old man had to have a little fun every now and then.
Milluki was bored. He always ate dinner (any meal really) in his room, playing games. He hated dinner with his family, no one ever said anything interesting, they only failed at small talk. A five-year-old would be a better conversationalist. He was oh so close to finishing his new game, the prize for finishing first was a wonderful amount of money. Black market games are the best that way. If he didn't stay on top of his game and play every second he could, someone else would win before he did; and he absolutely cannot have that. Money is not the only prize that can be won, and this Hitoshi character was keeping him from it. Milluki didn't care who married who (as long as he didn't have to marry Hitoshi) all he wanted was to leave the silent dinner table. So he stared at Hitoshi as if that'll make him go away faster.
Kalluto liked Hitoshi. His Mother seemed to like him as well, so it's perfectly fine for Kalluto to do the same. Hitoshi appeared to be someone Kalluto could get along with. Maybe he'd tell him a story. His Mother had already ordered kimonos in what appeared to be Hitoshi's size, making Kalluto think that maybe he'd stay here a while. Maybe he wouldn't have to be so alone anymore if Hitoshi joined the family (being with only his Mother all the time gets lonely).
Silva Zoldyck figured he got lucky. He was rather ashamed to admit it, but he very well could have been killed by Hitoshi. The man had said two words and already Silva was his to command. He doesn't remember the experience, but he does remember what it felt like. He lost complete control of his entire body and thoughts. He could have been asked to do anything and he wouldn't even remember what. He'd say his family is lucky Illumi is on good terms with Hitohsi, if Illumi had somehow antagonized him, and he then chose to take it out on the rest of the Zoldycks. Well Silva would think his family would already be 6 feet under, and isn't that just an interesting thought.
Such a dangerous weapon Illumi seems to have found. Some nobody from a random family, strong enough to make the strongest assassin family fall. As a part of this family he could be so much more, depending on the conditions of his ability, interrogations would be a piece of cake, so would infiltrations and assassination (they already are a piece of cake). Silva has to make sure Hitoshi allies himself with the Zoldyck family at all costs. It would be his family's downfall if he didn't.
Hitoshi was internally dying. He was fairly certain Zeno could read him like a book (not that he was giving a lot of things away). The only woman at the table (presumably Illumi's Mother) had an interesting smile on her face and nodded to herself every so often. Killua had murder written all over his face, Hitoshi'd be surprised if he survived the night (who was he kidding the kid can't kill him). Silva was expressionless, but Hitoshi can take a guess and assume he was hung up on his powers. The smallest one looked genuinely happy (his eyes betrayed him), the last one at the table was staring blankly at him. Hitoshi wanted someone to do something else, even Illumi was staring at him, all the eyes on him made him rather nervous. You never know when a family of assassins is planning your murder (not that he's ever met a family of assassins). His dad would tell him to stay calm and assess the situation. Does he want to do that? No. He really just wanted to eat something, and half-hope the food was poisoned and killed him.
"So," a conversation finally starts, "where are you from Hitoshi?" the only lady at the table asked.
Hitoshi dies inside. He no longer exists. The end.
"Hitoshi?" Illumi asked, he poked him gently.
Hitoshi snaps back to the land of the living and takes out his phone. He opened a browser and accessed a translator, turning his volume up. He typed his desired sentence and pressed the little speaker icon, and a robotic voice from his phone said, "Here and there."
"Oh so you've been to many places?" the lady asked.
"Mother, why don't you introduce yourself first?" Illumi cut in.
"Oh silly me, my name is Kikyo Zoldyck, this here is Kalluto." she gestured to the boy sitting next to her.
"It's nice to meet you. To answer your question, not really, I stayed in one place, but moved houses a lot."
"Oh I see. How long have you known Illumi here?"
"Give or take a couple months."
"How'd you two meet? Run into each other and instantly fall in love?" Kikyo kept asking questions.
Hitoshi died again, someone- anyone- save him. "Mother, you're making Hitoshi uncomfortable." Illumi jumped to his rescue.
"I wanna know too, how did you guys meet. You sure didn't know each other during the Hunter Exam." Killua killed Hitoshi again.
"We met through Hisoka." Illumi answered.
"That creep? How do you even know Hisoka?" Killua inquired.
"We happen to be engaged." Illumi replied.
"That engagement was complete bullshit and you know it, Hitoshi is a much better match for you." Kikyo stated.
"I'm inclined to agree with your Mother," Silva finally contributed, "Your engagement to that clown was a sham. You'll be marrying Hitoshi by the end of the week, your Mother has already started planning."
Hitoshi was now buried 15ft in the ground. Didn't he get a say in this? He didn't want to marry Illumi. How he got engaged to Hisoka of all people, he had no idea, he wasn't one to judge though. Illumi can do what he wants (he can't leave Hitoshi though, their accidental connection demands physical contact every now and then, makes him wonder how Hisoka's doing).
"Hitoshi doesn't want to get married." Illumi came to Hitoshi's rescue once again.
Kikyo gave a small frown. Illumi had to get married to Hitoshi, Hitoshi could wear her wedding dress, it was perfect!
Silva spoke again, "If not marriage then an allyship?" Kikyo swung around to face her husband, why'd he give up so fast? Did he know something she didn't?
Hitoshi's fingers flew along his phone keyboard, "An allyship I could do, depending on the terms."
"You come here every now and then, we'll train you, send you on jobs, treat you as one of our own. All you have to do in return is not attack us with malicious intent."
"You might as well adopt him at that point." Zeno piped up.
"Adopt…?"
"Oh! What a wonderful idea!" Kikyo exclaimed.
"Hm, not a horrible idea actually, what do you say Hitoshi?"
"As long as I can freely come and go, I'm not opposed."
'It'd be nice to have a family again, even if they are assassins.' Hitoshi thought, he wouldn't outright admit it, but he missed his dad and his friends. He missed his life back in his world, but he has never felt as alive there as he does here. This could be good for him, so he might as well join a new family.
"Yes of course, same conditions then, only you have to come to family gatherings and important meetings occasionally. You have to make a name for yourself somehow." Silva said.
"Then that's settled, welcome to the family Hitoshi." Zeno said.
"Are you serious right now?!" Milluki exploded, "You're just going to adopt some random kid from the streets?!"
Silva tensed ever so slightly, he has to make sure no one antagonizes Hitoshi this early in the relationship. "It appears as though Milluki might need a demonstration." Illumi said, "Hitoshi if you would please?"
Hitoshi stared blankly at Illumi, "Details please?" his phone said.
"I suggest everyone be as silent as they can, except you Milluki, make as much noise as you please."
Hitoshi sucked in a breath finally understanding, he was to control Milluki, but no one else. "What was your name again?" Hitoshi asked.
Milluki appeared to be confused, "Wait-" his voice cut off, the usual blank look falling over his face, his eyes losing any light of individuality. Hitoshi smiled, he's coming to like the feeling of someone else under his control. "Stand up." Hitoshi ordered. Milluki compiled. "What's your name, age and height?"
"My name is Milluki Zoldyck, I'm 17 and I'm 5'11.5"."
Silva grinned, Hitoshi was more powerful then he'd anticipated.
"Kil, don't speak." Illumi said, stopping Killua from asking the question he really wanted to ask, "If you do, you'll end up just like Milluki." He gave no explanation for his own immunity.
"Sit down again." Hitoshi released his hold on Milluki as soon as the teen sat down. "I'd suggest waiting a few more minutes before speaking, if you use you-know-what you'll see why."
Zeno's eyes glowed and he was fascinated to see a light purple fog surrounding the entire room, most heavily concentrated around Milluki. 'Positively bewitching.' He thought.
When the fog cleared Milluki asked what happened, Illumi explained. Killua went and asked the question on most of the family's mind, "Why weren't you affected? Even though I was silent, I still couldn't think clearly."
"A little mishap, you're welcome to blame Hisoka." Illumi said, adding nothing else. Kikyo and Zeno quickly realized what Illumi had done.
"Well then," Silva started, "I'll start the adoption process tonight, with a little blackmail and bribery you'll be a Zoldyck by morning. Will you take our name or hyphenate?"
"I'll take yours, but still go by mine."
"Alright."
With that the conversation ceased and everyone finally started to eat. Much to Hitoshi's chagrin the food was not poisoned, but was actually rather delicious.
With that season one of the anime is finished! Next chapter season 2 will start! I will most likely be taking a short break to get my thoughts in order and plan for the next season (a month maybe? If I'm feeling inspired then less). I will not be giving up on this story. I will continue, don't worry!
Thoughts?
