Zephyr peered out at the manic of a rabbit, from behind the large stones he and Sparky were using as cover. Rumbles of explosions and the screams of the civilians caught in the crossfire rang out around them. All they wanted were some groceries.

The young speedster was about jump into the fray. Rush people away from the conflict, and knock the crazy bunny to the ground. Instincts were inching, the crackling lightning, ears pricked up alert, all of it tell him to move.

"What are you doing?" Sparky said, grabbing Zephyr's arm.

"We can't just let her do this! Someone could get hurt," Zephyr said.

"You could be seen. Our entire cover will be blown!"

Zephyr glanced at the rabbit and then looked back at Sparky, "Okay, so what do we do?"

"Well…" the little fox rapped a hand on the ground frantically, his tongue sticking out of his mouth.

"Couldn't I cover myself in dust from the rubble?" Zephyr suggested.

"It would never stay on you at hyper speed."

"We don't have any face paint."

Sparky's ear flipped up, "We could lead her away. Stay in a blur form, she'll follow you out of the city."

"Where should I even go? Outside is only farmland, and forest. Then what? Fight her to the death? I can't do that."

"You're right. Meaning she'll see and then know your face."

"So, what do we do?"

The crash of a car being flipped echoed around them.

Sparky was trying to keep his breathing under control, but it wasn't easy. The reason behind that was the fact that he was scared out of his fur. There was a chaos powered maniac just thirty feet behind him. Who wouldn't be frightened in that situation!? What made it even worse was that this wasn't his element. He wasn't the action, he was the brains, the person who belonged in mission control. He couldn't throw a punch, teleport, or run faster than sound. He wasn't someone who could be a hero like the one his father had been.

However, Sparky also knew that laying down and hiding wouldn't do any good. He had to come up with an actual plan, because Zephyr, someone who tended to be impulsive, wouldn't usually plan ahead after his next footstep. No offence to his friend of course. He needed to focus. He needed to plan.

The young fox's twin tails twitched, his brows furrowed in determination and he looked at the surrounding area. An empty street, that was slowly being destroyed, one manic rabbit, broken electric lines…wait…broken electric lines! His blue eyes followed them and, yes, as if fate had planned it, just down the street was the power plant.

"Run her into the plant down the street."

"What?"

"You admit electrical discharge when you're running. She's currently giving out chaos energy. You can't destroy what she's putting out, it's just not possible, but you can over load her. Chaos and electricity are similar in nature and can be easily transfigured into each other. You lure her into the plant and collect all of the excess electric energy, and then over load her. All you need is to touch her."

"What will over loading her do?"

"If she doesn't know how to handle the high amounts of energy, you're about to pump her up with, then she'll have to disperse it. Which will, hopefully, drain her of her powers temporally…and also will probably cause a massive explosion."

"I heard 'hopefully' and 'explosion'."

Sparky grimaced as the sound of another explosion rang, "Just get her into the plant, shock her and then run like hell!"

"Okay, I'll snag you on the way out, be ready for that. I'll be back in a second. Give or take."

Okay, she was getting bored. However, the stage lights were still on and she needed to keep up appearance. So, she blew up another fire hydrant. She had been going at this for at least 10 minutes, and her labor had yet to bare any fruit. Leaving her to conclude that the new blue blur either wasn't in the city at the moment, or was actually a coward at heart. Either way, it just proved that this wasn't the same hero from all those years ago.

Bonnie was here as a favor for a friend, though curiosity did play a role in her decision to come this far into the Equinox territory. She had heard rumors about another speedster showing up every now and again in the area, even though they haven't spread to the troops yet. Of course, she wasn't really one of the troops. The more fitting term for her would be an asset, being one of the few survivors of the more recent chaos experiments. Even as a lab rat, she was still higher up the food chain the average soldier, meaning she got information quicker. Not to mention she was close with the lead lab technician. So, news of the new speedster wasn't hard for her to come by.

As she learned more and more about these sightings, a new desire surfaced inside of her. The desire to test her abilities against this mysterious blur. To share hits, throw punches, and feel the thrill of the battle field. It all sounded so adventurous, and dangerous, which to someone who had spent the better part of the last decade sitting in a lab, it was as tempting as a perfect dream. A perfect morbid bloodlust filled dream.

So, once a request for her assistance in the area came in, she didn't hesitate. Only now it seems as if she didn't plan ahead enough. At least until…

A sudden burst of wind blew past her, and through her flinch she smiled wickedly. They were here. She whirled her head wildly searching for where they had gone, until finally she found them. They were standing atop of the nearby buildings, the setting sun behind them. The bright light from the day star, hiding their face from her. All she could see was the outline. The outline of a hedgehog. It was like a scene out of a movie. She felt her heart leap.

"So, you are finally here," Bonnie whispered, "By tonight's first moon light I'll know who you are. Whether I already know you or not."

The speedster, didn't respond with any words of course, only zipping off of the roof. Within seconds, chunks of the rubble around her came flying towards her at an incredible speed. She quickly ducked and shot a blast to stop herself from getting hit. Spinning her neck up to see where it had come from, only to find no one there.

Well, if they wanted to play hide and seek…

Zephyr kept his breathing quiet as he pressed his quills into the broken wall behind him. He would forever be grateful to Aunt Maria for asking Mari to teach him how to use his speed on other objects. Apparently, it didn't just come in handy in a water balloon fight. The young hedgehog eyed some fallen hubcaps from a nearby (now destroyed) auto repair shop. In less than a second, he fled from his current cover, snatched up the hubcaps, and launched them at the rabbit before ducking under more fallen rubble as cover.

The metallic disks, worked better than the rocks. Even if the rabbit ducked and dodged them, they bounced off of the objects they hit, flying right back at her. Hurling through the air like flattened bullets. Zephyr would have to talk to Sparky about possibly getting some kind of boomerang or shield.

The rabbit didn't seem as pleased with the results though. She growled and threw another blast at the hubcaps, blowing them to bits. Then turning her anger at the street below, striking the ground, launching herself high in the air.

"Where are you!?" She growled.

Okay that was enough toying.

Zephyr found more hubcaps, and started luring her towards the plant. Stopping just far away that she could see where the flying sliver makeshift battle stars were coming from, and launching one just before running to another spot. Slowly getting closer and closer to the plant.

Finally, Zephyr was hiding behind some pipes or tech, he didn't really know what it was, but that did matter as it was still in the middle of plant. Right where he needed to be: he could already feel the extra static coming off of this place. He had one hubcap left and with all his might he threw it, striking the floor of the plant. The metal met the stone floor with a shriek and shower of sparks.

The Rabbit didn't hesitate to enter, leaping directly on the chip marks in the floor, "Show yourself! You coward!" she demanded.

Zephyr smirked, if she wanted to see him up close. The speedster darted out into the open, too fast for the eye to see. Bouncing off the walls and machines in the plant. The white sparks of the power plant, and his own blue lighting merged into a storm of blinding electrical energy. Zephyr felt like he was on fire, but in a good way. The currents flowing through him made him feeling like infinite power was at his fingertips. Like he could do anything.

Doing one last flip, he bounced off of the back wall, and launched himself towards her. More lighting flowing through his body then it ever had before. The world slowed down once again, like it did in the prison. He could see everything. The small flickers as the lightning around him shifted. The sharp shards of glass and sparks that hadn't even hit the floor yet. The slowed down green aura around the rabbit, as she ever so slowly turned around to face him.

He moved behind her, making sure she didn't see his face. Lightly tracing a finger across the open back of her tight red suit. He watched at the energy seemed to drain out of him and flow into her. The blue slowly being devoured by the green. Then time caught up with him and everything began to blast passed once more. He barely had time to grabbed Sparky before a thundering screech and explosion echoed from behind them.

They would go shopping another day.

Aunt Maria look over the case files in front of her. The manilla color folders and the pale papers were bathed in moonlight from the sky light above. She sighed and looked around the room. The table she sat at was large. Large and empty. Only the ghosts of those who once sat in the other seats remained, and you can't see ghosts.

Though, she wished she could. Sometimes if she listened hard enough, she could hear their voices. Their disagreements. She snorted. Oh, how many arguments happened in this room. The short answer was too many to count. The word 'chaos' hadn't been in their name for flare.

There was a sudden trilling, coming from the ground next to her. Her ears pricked up tall, at the sudden unexpected sound. She looked down. Finding a very familiar creature. A creature with a music-note shaped body and a single purple eye.

"Rhygenta?" she whispered in surprise.

Said Black Arm Wisp hybrid squeaked and trilled in delight as he jumped up into Aunt Maria's lap. The elder hedgehog chuckled.

"What are you doing here, little one?" Aunt Maria rubbed the hybrid's head, "Not that I'm not happy to see you."

"He missed you," A distorted, almost glitching, voice called from behind.

Most would've shivered at the sound, or at least had felt some kind of fright. However, the sound had the opposite effect on her, she turned around facing the darkling behind her with a smile. The alien creature, hung on to the side of the door way, far above the floor. His glowing yellow eyes were the only thing that poked through the night, at least until a smile split his face open revealing the mouthful of sharp teeth. Still no matter his unorthodox demeaner, she never felt the need to fear him.

"Well, he has good tastes," Aunt Maria said calmly, "Where are the others?"

"Sleeping, in our hideaway. Ready to leave in the morning."

"You know that the hideaway isn't necessary, you could just come and stay here when you're in the area."

Eclipse shook his head, jumping down to the ground, landing on all fours before standing up properly, "Too risky. Someone might see me slip through the forest traps."

"The sprites wouldn't let anyone follow you that far, and the field…"

"I know, but I don't want to take the risk. I lost one home; I'm not losing another."

"They miss you; you know."

Eclipse nodded, "I know, I hear it every day. I'll visit again, near Dami's birthday, but I have to go back for now. The world needs to be safe for them, and I won't stop till it is," Eclipse huffed, "If did anything less, Shadow would come back from the dead just to kill me."

Aunt Maria chuckled, "Get over here and give me a hug. I'd come over to you, but…you know what happened to my leg."

Eclipse tail twitched, back and forth as he slinked forward and into his older sister's embrace. Carefully shifting himself so that he didn't claw her.

"It's good to see you baby brother."

Eclipse winced at the nick-name, "Are ever going to stop calling me that?"

"No."

"I am not an infant. This has been established."

"You're barely five years older than our niece."

"While true, I am still more mature."

Aunt Maria raised a brow, "Sure you are."

"I thought you were supposed to be the nice sibling?"

Aunt Maria rolled her eyes and shook her head. For a moment, nothing was wrong, it was just her and her brother, joking like they were younger.

Eclipse sighed, "So, what did you want me to see?"

Her face going serious once more, she turned to the files on the table, "I know your leaving soon, but the girls found something that the others need to know about."

"Why not phone it over?" Eclipse cocked his head to the side, curiously.

"I don't want to risk any sort of lag or anyone listening in. This needs to stay in leaguer hands only."

"Sounds Like this is important."

Aunt Maria nodded, and sild the files over to her brother. She didn't have to be mental linked with him to feel his anger once he started reading. His tail started to lash, and his clawed fingers curled into fists. A low growl echoed from his throat. A feral gut churning sound.

"How many?" He rasped.

"We don't know."

"Weapons," He growled, "Is that all we are to them? Weapons to be used? Triggers to be pulled? Guns to be fired?"

"I knew how you would feel about this."

"They killed them, they created them just to kill them. They were like me Maria, they were family."

"I know, but they were sick, they wouldn't have survived. Not without a mind of their own. The only one they left behind, was mere hours from death. Still screaming out in pain. They reached out to Mari; she couldn't sleep the night they can back."

"Will my people ever get mercy? Genocide after genocide. Is that our fate?"

"Death claims all baby brother. There's nothing that can change that."

Eclipse sucked in a deep breath, before look at his sister, "What else did they find?"

"There was some evidence to support that other than Black Arm DNA experiments, they were also trying to forge connection between their own soldiers and Chaos, Zephyr and Sparky already confirmed this fact. They ran into one of them in town today."

"A hedgehog?"

"No, a rabbit."

Eclipse shook his head in disbelief, "That's insane. Even if they were to survive the experiments, the line is practically a death sentence to be a part of now. I'm lucky to even be standing right now."

"I know. Soon, even the smallest amount of the magic, in any type of use, will become deadly. However, this isn't what worries me," Aunt Maria pulled from her pocket, the sick green stone that her nieces retrieved.

Eclipse eyes widened, "Is that…?"

"A man-made chaos emerald? I wish I could say no."

"How? Even the greatest of hiveminds couldn't create a relic of chaos," Eclipse leaned over to more closely inspect the gem, his tail twitching curiously.

"Tails had figured out how to do it years ago, and it's not exactly a perfect copy. I'm sure you can sense it's weaker than the others."

"If you mean from when they were in their prime, yes, it is lesser to them," he tapped the gem with his claw.

"It's not the power that it has that worries me."

"How so?" Eclipse asked rolling the gemstone back and forth on the table, playing a game of catch between him and Rhygenta.

"Tails was the only person who ever succeeded creating, that had a small connection the magic line. Only someone with his notes could create something like that."

"You think we have a mole?" Eclipse said, look at back at her.

"It's the only option. The only designs beyond the mansion walls are for wispons."

"But the only ones who were here…"

"Was us, I know."

"You think one of them has turned on us?"

"I don't want to believe it, but someone saw Tails's notes. Someone who had to be here."

"What about before here? The rogue GUN agents stole some of his designs during the equinox war."

"That was the very incident that made him move all his notes to here, but no one ever got to the ones about the fakes. I checked, they're still in the manor."

"Have you considered a psychic?" Eclipse went back to playing with his little one.

"It's a possibility, unlikely, but a possibility: who knew about the fakes that came in contact with one would be the question then."

"Not me or you obviously. Black Arms can only be read by other Black Arms, our hivemind is too strong for a psychic to read. Not mention, I didn't know of the fake emeralds until tonight, and you haven't left the forest since…" Eclipse trailed off.

"That leaves Zero, Sandy, Rouge, and Omega. Possibly Big if he's still alive," Aunt Maria said.

"Sandy hadn't been close with Tails. She was much more of a friend to Gadget and…"

"You've made your point, she's probably off the list. Omega hadn't been around when the fakes came into the play, and we had no reason to tell him, but he also spent a lot of time in Tails's lab, it's possible he saw the notes."

"Omega, no offence to him, is also a machine. With no organic mind to read. He could be hacked, but for the last ten years he hasn't been captured or put out of commission."

Aunt Maria nodded, "Rouge knows, she had been around when Tails was developing and used the fakes."

"And she's been active in the field the most. What about Zero?"

"He shouldn't know. He came into the picture long after the invention of the fakes, but he could've learned something from Eggman when he worked with him."

"The doctor knew of the fakes?"

"Yes, and saw them work first hand, if I remember the files correctly."

Eclipse raised, a furless brow, "And he never tried to recreate them?"

Aunt Maria froze at the sudden unexpected question. However, the more she thought about it, Eclipse did ask a good question. Why didn't Dr. Eggman recreate the fake emeralds? She shook her head and decided to get back on topic.

"Yes, and I don't know why."

Eclipse shrugged, "I'll pass on the information, if there is a traitor in our ranks, they won't lats much longer."

"I have no doubts."

Eclipse stood up, taking Rhygenta in to his arms, "I need to leave and warn them. If they're successful creating new users and relics," The alien sighed, "Things are about to get much more difficult."

Aunt Maria nodded, "Uhm…I know you have to leave because of the harsh winter that's coming, but write often please. You know Damian looks forward to it, and while Mari isn't as enthusiastic…"

"She cares. She's more like her father every day," Eclipse shook his head, "Still not sure if that's a good or bad thing."

Aunt Maria chuckled, "Be safe baby brother."

Eclipse gave a fang filled smile, before slinking off into the night.

Griz leaned against the back of his chair, his tail twitching impatiently. The wind beat against side of the tent (with the silo destroyed he and Leo had to move back into their old tent), making a loud crinkling sound. Smoke was practically coming out of the jackal's nose as he breathed out.

"Is your 'fire' here yet?" Griz said.

Leo sighed, "No, not yet. She had something to check on first."

Griz picked up a news paper on the desk, who's head line read BLUE BLUR STOPS RAMPAGING RABBIT.

"Yeah something," The jackal griped.

There was a bright green flash, and dropping into the middle of the tent was a white rabbit. She was dressed in a red body suit, and when she finally opened her eyes, two pools of sparkling blue looked at them.

"Sorry I'm late," she said in a seductive voice, as she got to her feet, "Leo," She smiled.

"Bonnie," Leo said in return.

Griz rolled his eyes, "Oh, for chaos's sake just kiss already."

The rabbits leaped towards each other. The lovers wrapped each other in a long embrace, and pressing their lips together, passionately. Griz gagged.

"I've missed you," Leo said breathlessly when they finally pulled away.

"You're not the only one," Bonnie said, "I would've come sooner, but I had technical difficulties."

"I'd say, you're a day late, the paper had enough time to put a story out on you."

"Really? They made me look good?"

"They made you look like a maniac," Griz said, earning unimpressed looks from the rabbit pair, "Hey what happened to your fur? I thought you dyed it green."

Bonnie rolled her eyes, "I didn't dye my fur Griz. The coloring is an effect of the chaos bonding. Which mine has been weakened, so my fur returned to normal."

"Weakened?" Leo asked, "That's possible?"

"Apparently. Getting overcharged with electricity and then dispersing it all at once will do that," Bonnie explained.

"Is it permanent?" Leo said, concerned.

"No, I can feel my connection returning, all be it slowly. Why do you think it took me so long to teleport here?" Bonnie said.

"You could've just not engaged, and come straight here," Griz said.

"It was necessary set back. I needed to know who we were dealing with," Bonnie said.

Griz rolled his eyes.

"And did you, darling?" Leo asked.

"This isn't a case of resurrection I can tell you that," Bonnie said, sitting on the desk, "The demeaner and use of the powers in battle is completely different from what I've studied of the original blue blur's feats. Little more of a shy, calculated approach rather then the gusto he usually had."

"So where dealing with someone new?" Leo asked.

"I believe so. They also are smart. They knew about the connection between electricity and chaos. A fact which I was completely unaware of, and did not know how to safely handle. Hence the overload and subsequent power loss," Bonnie said.

"Any sort of weakness we can exploit?" Leo asked.

"Physically? I'm not sure. However, they did seem to prefer to use the environment rather than attacking head on. This could suggest an unfamiliarity with their abilities. And they did not want to be seen."

"Meaning?" Griz said.

"You could put them in an area with nothing but the opponent, and they might have trouble, but that's still a long shot," Bonnie stated.

"So, what's our move?" Girz asked.

"In my opinion we should wait. Gather more information," Bonnie said.

Griz growled disappointed.

"I know Griz, but don't worry we won't be doing nothing," Bonnie said.

"Yes, reconstruction of the silo, along with the underground network tunnels will still be happening, and with Bonnie's help, we won't need to worry about any more accidents," Leo said with a sneer.
