Anne, the Plantars, and Flossie sat on the couch. "Alright guys. Movie time!" Anne said, pressing play on her phone.
Flossie jumped up and down excitedly in her seat. "I've never had a movie night before! This is so exciting! Too bad Jean can't join us…" she said the last part sadly.
Anne paused. "Yeah, what happened to her?" She asked curiously.
"Oh, she tried to fight the praying mantis that hurt her leg when we found her. Apparently she didn't learn her lesson, because she broke her leg." The axolotl explained.
—
Jean lay in bed, arms crossed angrily. Her leg was propped up above her head, not allowing her to move.
Pebbs walked in, carrying a bowl of cricket soup. "I told you, Jean. Fighting that mantis is dangerous. But no, you just had to get yourself in trouble again." She scolded, placing the bowl beside Jean's bed.
The human groaned.
—
"Huh." Was all Anne replied with. They started watching the movie, when Anne remembered something. "Oh, crud! I forgot the snacks!" She panicked.
Hop Pop waved her off. "No need to panic, Anne. I've got the perfect snack!"
He walked into the kitchen, soon returning with a corn hanging over a small fire on wheels. He pushed the table out of the way, and Anne had to grab her phone.
The four kids started cheering, as they waited for the corn to heat up.
"….shouldn't we cover this up?" Anne asked suddenly. A stray corn piece flew into the air, flying through the ceiling. Hop Pop scratched his chin in thought. "Knew I forgot somethin'." He admitted.
More corn pieces flew into the air, creating chaos. The kids screamed as they ducked for cover. One piece hit Hop Pop in the face.
The room was soon consumed by popcorn.
Anne jumped out of the pile of popcorn. "Woohoo! Best snack ever!" She cheered. Sprig popped out next, beaten and bruised. "I can't feel my face!"
Polly spat out a piece of popcorn, catching her breath, as Flossie's arm stuck out of the pile of snacks. "A…little…help?" She muttered under the pile.
—
Jean read a book, having nothing else to do. Letting it flop onto her stomach, she hummed in thought.
"Wonder what the others are up to."
A large cockroach crawled out of the familiar hole in the wall, chirping up at Jean. Jean squealed.
"PEBBS?! PEBBS! THE ROACHES ARE BACK AGAIN! HELP!"
