A/N: This roughly takes place during season 2A of ToH, and sometime in season 2 of Amphibia. Sorry if my characters seem, well, out of character lol. I haven't written Hazel in a while.

Major spoilers for both shows and my books.

(In the Boiling Isles…)

In the woods near the Owl House, Luz has placed a myriad of magical objects on the ground in front of her, and paces while reading Philip's journal. She's trying to open a portal to Earth. Hazel curiously looks over her shoulder, while Eda "supervises" the human. Aka, drinking a lot of apple blood.

Luz stands, looking down at what she set up with a satisfied nod. "Okay! Attempt number 23! I have a good feeling about this one." She says. She turns to Hazel and Eda with a smile. "Thanks again for agreeing to help, guys."
Hazel smiles back. "Hey, no problem! Always happy to help my favourite sister!" She says, poking the humans cheek. Luz giggles, as Eda waves the human off.
"Ah, don't mention it, Kiddo. But if you wanted my help, you should have mentioned something two apple bloods ago." She says, looking at her half-empty mug.

Luz places a hand on Eda's shoulder, eyes shining with adoration. "Your very presence is help enough." She whispers out in admiration. Hazel giggles at her friend, as Eda looks down at the human. Luz has been staring for a little too long.
"Cute, but creepy…" she states, removing Luz's hand from her shoulder. "…like Hooty when he was a kitten."

Hazel nods, thinking over what the Owl Lady said. Before her eyes widen in shock, whipping around to face their mentor. "Wait! Hooty was a-"
"So, what do we got here?" Eda cuts off the basilisk, looking down at Luz's magical masterpiece. Hazel blinks in surprise. "We gotta talk about this! Do you have pictures of him!? I wanna see!" She cries out. Both Eda and Luz ignore her, as the human looks at Philip's journal. The basilisk gives up, letting out a frustrated sigh as she listens to the human.

"We've got a spell that has a VERY slim chance of working. But, if it does, it might get me back to the Human Realm." She explains. Eda grins, throwing out her arms in excitement and nearly spilling her apple blood. "Well, hot Titan toes! What're we waiting for? Pull the trigger!"

"We have to be very careful." Luz explains, looking up from Philips journal. "This spell is unstable and-Eda!"
Eda had already activated the spell. She looks up at Luz and Hazel's shocked expressions. "Again, probably should have said something two apple bloods ago."
"Oh, shoot!"
"Aw, nuts!"

In a bright flash of light, there's a rift between time and space. In front of the dazed trio, swirls a shining portal to…

(Somewhere in Amphibia…)

Deep in the Wartwood Swamp, the Plantar family and their two human companions, Anne and Jean, are hunting for ingredients. Flossie, too energetic to walk with the rest of the group, scurried around and looked at the vegetation and small critters they would occasionally come across. But she never wandered off too far.

Sprig sat on Jean's shoulders, looking bored as he rests his head on top of hers. Polly was in her arms, the same bored expression on her face. The older teen didn't mind holding the young Plantars. They had been out most of the day, and were getting tired.

Hop Pop, who was leading the gang, turned to the kids. "Wait till you kids taste this Swamp Soufflé. It only tastes slightly worse than it smells." He tries reasoning. The kids groan at this, obviously not looking forward to another one of Hop Pop's ancient recipes.
"I still think we should have ordered takeout from Stumpy's." Anne says flatly. Sprig nods, leaning over Jean's head. "They do Grub Satay now!" He adds.

However, Flossie was ecstatic.
"Heck yeah! I'm ready to taste this Swamp Soufflé!" She pumps. Polly turns to her, a blank expression on her face. "You do realise that the recipe's from Hop Pop's ancient book, right? I wouldn't get too excited over anything from that old thing." She states, ignoring Hop Pop's offended "hey!".

Flossie hums, thinking over what the Pollywog said. "Hm, I guess you're right about that…"

"So, what else do we need for this suffering?" Polly asks her grandfather. Hop Pop frowns. "Uh, Soufflé." He corrects. The pollywog shrugs. "I said what I said."

Sprig brings out a piece of paper from his pocket. "Well, according to the recipe, we need something called pineapple…fungus? Is that right?" He asks, showing the piece of paper to Jean. Squinting her eyes, Jean quirks a brow. "I think so? Why is this handwriting so squiggly…"

While they were distracted, Polly hops out of the older teens arms and over to an odd looking mushroom, yanking it out of the ground. "Is this it?" She shouts. Flossie turns to her, eyes widening. "Polly! Don't touch-"
The ground starts to shake, and the pollywog hurriedly lets go of the nose of a gigantic, horrifying creature. A gigantic ugly badger with insect eyes and mandibles explodes from the ground, and looms over the gang.
"Dang it, Polly!" Everyone yells at the pollywog in unison. Polly chuckles awkwardly. "In retrospect, I should have asked, and then pulled."

The badger-beetle roars, and they run away screaming. Jean grabs Polly, and Sprig urges her to run faster.

Not too far away from the Plantars in Wartwood Swamp, Eda, Luz and Hazel step through the glowing portal and gaze around.
"Luz, it worked! We're in the Human Realm!" Eda says with a grin. She bows deeply to a passing grubhog. "M'lady."

Hazel gasps in awe at the scenery. "Luz, this is the Human Realm? It's amazing! It's beautiful! It's…missing a lot of buildings and people. Where are the other humans?" She bends down to the grubhog, giving it a pat. "Hey little guy, what are you?"
Luz looks around, just as confused. "I worry what you think you know about humans, Eda." She says to the Owl Lady. She then turns to Hazel. "And no, I don't think this is the Human Realm, Hazel." She explains. The basilisk "ohs" at her statement, getting up from the ground. The grubhog crawls away.

"Well, might as well head to the nearest town and see if they have any S&P approved bug equivalent to liquor." Eda says, about to head off into the forest when Luz grabs her arm. "Hold on, Eda. Do you hear that?"

The trio pause to listen. Ears perked up, Hazel tilts her head, hearing what Luz was talking about. The sound of screaming could be heard drawing closer, and closer…

Suddenly, Anne, the Plantars, Flossie and Jean come tearing out of the woods. Anne stumbles into Luz, and they both fall over with a scream. Flossie, who had charged ahead of the group, accidentally ran into Eda, falling back onto the ground.

"Whoa! Who are you people?" Hop Pop asks, surprised by the appearance of the three strangers. Sprig grins, leaning onto the speechless Jean's head and covering her eyes. "I don't believe it! Another Anne?"
"And she's better dressed too." Polly adds.

Eda was just as shocked at Hop Pop. "Whoa! Uh, giant frog-people…either that, or this is the best apple blood I've ever had. Kids, are you seeing this too?" She asks the girls.

Anne helps Luz to her feet. The two regard one another with awe. "Another human? I don't believe this!" Anne exclaims, as Jean wanders over to them.
"Me neither. I'm Luz Noceda, and I'm very impressed that you're walking around with one shoe." She jokes. Anne chuckles. "Eh, it took some getting used to. I'm Anne, by the way, Anne Boonchuy. And these are my friends, Jean Goodeman, and Sprig and Polly Plantar." She gestures to them, the older teen still holding Sprig and Polly. Luz grins, giving them a wave. "Hi!"
Jean grins back, just as amazed as her friend. "Sup! I wasn't expecting to see another human around here."

Hazel bends down to Flossie, who was still on the ground staring up at her and Eda with wide, starry eyes. She holds out a scaly claw to help the axolotl to her feet. "Uh…are you okay? It looks like you fell pretty hard-"
The basilisk jumps as Flossie lets out an excited squeal, latching onto Hazel's hand and shaking it with all her might as she jumps to her feet. "OH MY GOSH! THIS IS AMAZING! What are you? Are you a human? You look so different from Anne and Jean! How did you get here? YOU HAVE TO TELL ME EVERYTHING!"

"Um-Eda, Luz, help-" Hazel begs, as Flossie continues to shake her hand. Jean chuckles, putting Sprig and Polly down as she goes to help the basilisk. "Sorry bout that. Floss tends to get very excited over new things." She apologises, picking up the axolotl and forcing her to let go. Hazel holds her hand, rubbing it a little. "Th-thanks…"
"No problem. I'm Jean, and this is Flossie." Jean introduces herself. The older teen holds out her hand. Hazel hesitates slightly, before giving the human a small handshake. "Hazel."

Jean tilts her head curiously, holding Flossie like a cat to make sure she doesn't overwhelm this strange person. "If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you?" Hazel pauses, realising with dread she wasn't in her disguise. But the human before her doesn't seem nearly as freaked out as she thought she'd be. Maybe the human's not so bad?
"I-I'm a basilisk. A shapeshifter." She explains awkwardly. The axolotl's eyes brighten, while the human seemed intrigued. "COOL!"

Eda clears her throat, gaining everyones attention. "Uh, sorry to interrupt, but we've got company!" She shouts, pointing to something heading in their direction.

The badger-beetle bursts into the clearing, roaring with rage. Hop Pop attaches himself to Eda's leg. "Save us, foxy lady!"
"Get off of me."

Luz steps forward, pulling some glyphs out of her pocket. "Leave this one to me, guys!" She says. Hazel soon joins her, pulling out her own glyphs. Luz turns to her. "Ready?"
"Ready!"
Slamming the glyphs into the ground, vines shoot out and ensnare the beast. Jean, Anne, Sprig, Flossie and Polly stare with wide eyes. "Woah! Cool!"
"Girls, let's help too!" Sprig yells, bringing out his slingshot. Anne and Jean share a grin, nodding in unison. "Good thinking, bud."
"Heck yeah, I'm ready for a fight!" Jean pulls out her sword.

With the badger tied up in magic vines, the three amphibians and two humans rush forward. Anne draws her racket and hits the badger in the leg. "Taaaake this!"

Jean leaps towards the beast. Slash! One of its mandibles falls to the ground, detached from the badger. It lets out a pained shriek.
Sprig loads Polly into his slingshot, and fires her at the badger. "Little sister cannon, fire!"
"Here comes the pain!"

Pow! Polly hits the badger right in the eye. Angered, the badger rears up, breaking free from its restraints. It towers over the kids, ready to tear them limb from limb.
Out of nowhere, watery vines wrap its legs. The kids all turn to see Flossie, straining to hold it with her water abilities. Her eyes shone a bright gold.

Grunting, Flossie lifts up her arms, whacking them back down. The watery vines imitate her movement, throwing the badger up into the air before slamming it back into the ground. With a whimper, it hurriedly limps away into the woods, defeated.

All the kids stand tall, and look like total bosses. Eda and Hop Pop exchange a glance. "Uh…I was about to help." Eda mutters, crossing her arms. Hop Pop fake coughs awkwardly. "Ditto."

Anne and Jean sheath their racket and sword, as the former rushes up to Luz and Hazel. "Wow! You guys are like…magicians, or something. It's incredible!" Hazel blushes at the compliment, and she smiles sheepishly. "Oh! Uh, th-thank you…"
Luz grins. "We're witches! Well, we're kind of witches-in-training…but, I come from the human world originally." The human explains.

"Witches?" Sprig ponders. "I know a certain curse-wielding frog-girl who would love to meet you two." He smiles. Polly pops up beside him, while Flossie examines Hazel's tail and ears. "So, what're you doing here, better-dressed Jean?" The polliwog asks.
"Polly, rude much?" Hop Pop scolds. Jean shrugs at her statement. "Well, she's got a point, Hop Pop. I take no offense, Polly." She says, shooting the polliwog finger guns. The polliwog grins. "I know."

Eda chuckles. "Oh! I love the chill and chaotic energies coming from this duo. Up top, you two." The Owl Lady gives Polly and and Jean a high-five.

Luz bends down to Flossie. "Oh my gosh, aren't you just the cutest!" She squeals, pinching the axolotl's cheeks. "Ah! You're just too adorable!"
As Luz raves on, Flossie stares off into space. "I just had deja vu…."

"So Luz, what's brought you here?" Jean asks the human. Standing up, Luz turns to her and Anne. "Oh! I'm actually searching for a way home." She explains. Anne gasps. "Don't tell me. You're trapped in a medieval fantasy adventure rigamarole too?" She asks.
"Mmh, less of a medieval fantasy, and more of a kid-friendly hell-scape on top of a giant carcass, but…yep!"

As Anne clasps Luz's hands in her own and starts asking her questions, Hazel turns to Flossie. "That was some awesome magic stuff you did out there. How did you learn to do that? You wouldn't mind teaching me, would you?" She asks shyly. Flossie's eyes widen as stars appear in them. "You like my water tricks? And you wanna learn? From me?"
"Uh…yes?" Hazel hesitated, not sure if this is a trick question. Flossie starts vibrating on the spot, eyes shining bright with excitement.

"Hop Pop! Can they have a sleep over? Like, right now?!" Flossie and Anne say in unison, turning to their grandfather. They make eye contact before bursting into giggles.

Hop Pop, however, seemed unsure. "Uh, I-I-I don't know, girls. We need permission from, uh…eh, what did you say your name was?" He questions Eda. Eda smirks, flicking her hair. "I am Eda, the Owl Lady. The most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles…until recently. But you can call me Eda, you weird little frog-man." She winks at Hop Pop, making him blush hotter than the surface of the sun.
Jean chuckles. "I like your mum. She's cool." She says. Hazel rolls her eyes at Eda, trying her best to ignore Flossie holding her hands, poking the sharp claws. Realising what the human said, she turns to her, shocked. "Eda's not my mom!"
"She's not?"
"Well, I mean, I don't think she sees me as her daughter…"

Sprig notices the portal beginning to flicker and waiver. "Uh, Luz, Eda? Is your portal supposed to do that?" He questions, pointing to the portal in question. Luz gasps, panicking. "Oh-no! We're out of time! Eda, I told you this thing would be unstable!"
Hazel turns to Jean and Flossie. "Aw, nuts! I'm sorry, we've got to go!"

Flossie's brows furrow in sadness. "Wait! Will we see you guys again?" She asks, holding onto Hazel's hand. Hazel pauses, looking between Jean and Flossie, then at the rest of the otherworldly gang. She admits that she'll miss this chaotic family, and she didn't want to say goodbye forever. But they had no choice.
"I don't know." She answers truthfully, holding Flossie's small hands. Jean stands behind the axolotl, her hands on her shoulders. "But maybe one day, in another time, we'll see each other again."

"I hope so! I wanna teach you my water tricks!" Flossie tears up comedically. Hazel smiles. Jean leans down, giving the basilisk a fist bump. "See you later, lil magician."
"Goodbye, Jean and Flossie. Until next time!"

She heads towards the portal, where Eda was already dragging Luz through. She brushes pass Hop Pop on the way, before jumping through the portal.

Kablooeey! The portal collapses with an energy shockwave. The Plantars, Anne and Jean are left dumbfounded.
"I don't believe it. A human girl stuck far from home in another world, just like us!" Anne says excitedly, grabbing onto Jean's arm and shaking it. Jean smiles. "Yeah, that was interesting. Almost too coincidental, actually." She ponders to herself, as Hop Pop sighs.

"Well, the Swamp Soufflé is a bust. Guess we'll head back and see if Stumpy's is still open." At this news, the kids cheer, heading back to Wartwood. Hop Pop checks his pockets, realising something.

"Hey, have any of you seen my wallet?"

(The Boiling Isles…)

Luz, Eda and Hazel stand where the portal once was. Eda sighs, stretching a bit. "Well that was something. What do you say we go find King and figure out dinner?"

But Luz was too distracted. "Another human girl, and I barely got to talk to her! I didn't even get a memento to remember her by…" she sighs.

Hazel, who had her back turned to the two, glances over her shoulder nervously. She was suspiciously hunched over, holding something. Eda catches her. "Hey, what do you have?" She questions.
The basilisk chuckles nervously. "Well, I wouldn't say you don't have a memento, Luz…" she says, scratching the back of her neck as she turns around. She held Hop Pop's wallet in her hand. Luz gasped.

"Hazel! Did you steal that poor frog-mans wallet?!" She scolds, frowning at her sister's actions. Eda cackles, patting Hazel's head. "Oh, baby's first pick-pocket! I'm proud of you." Hazel smiles at the compliment. Luz, however, wasn't pleased.
"Eda don't encourage her! Quick! We gotta open the portal and return it!" Luz says, about to grab Philip's journal from the ground. Eda grabs her shoulder, calming her down. "Maybe another day, Luz. Maybe another day."

Meanwhile, just nearby the Owl House, Amity paces in front of Liza Blight. The latter smirking as she watches her cousin.
"I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna talk to her." Amity mutters under her breath. She clears her throat. "Hey, Luz. Remember that kiss thing? Well, I don't!" She laughs nervously. "We can just, go back to normal, right? Hey, do you wanna help me study for uh, ts…Titan, I forgot what kind of magic I use." She groans.

Liza tilts her head. "You look nervous." She teases. Amity turns to her. "I am, but I shouldn't be! I faced a slitherbeast before, and I barely broke a sweat. Now look at me!" She says, lifting her arms to reveal her sweat-stained armpits on her shirt.

Her cousin giggles. "Oh Titan, mittens. It's honestly fun watching you get nervous over asking someone out." She says, quirking her brow. Amity scowls at Liza. "You can't talk. I haven't seen you ask Hazel out yet." She points out. Liza pauses, face tinted pink as she acknowledges what Amity said was true. She sighs. "Touche. Alright, carry on."

Amity shakes her head, before sighing. "I'm Amity Blight. I can do this. I'm gonna walk right up to Luz, and say-"
"Well, you better make up your mind because she's coming this way." Liza points out, gesturing in the direction Eda, Hazel and Luz were coming from. Amity panics, her face exploding in a red hue.
"I gotta go!" She yells, dashing back into the woods before Luz knew she was even there. Liza gets up from the stump she was sitting on, following after her cousin.
"Amity!"

A/N: I had this idea for a long time, but I didn't write it down kufhd lol. I decided to do it early because I wanted to get back into writing Hazel again.
