Yoooo! It's-a-me! OMG!…04
I'm really, really, REALLY sorry that I've left you all hanging for so long, I had a tiny case of writer's block and I don't know if you knew, but I've been more focused on my other story.
It's a standalone Demon Slayer story that's just your regular old Demon Tanjiro fanfic. If you guys want to check it out, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
But, that's not what you're here for, I know what you really want! Please know, I have no plans to drop this story. I am still invested in it as I am sure you guys are as well.
But first, I must let you know that I have made some changes to the last four chapters last month. (Ch. 8-11) Specifically on the RWBY side.
You see, I recently read the official manga for RWBY and I really enjoyed the dialogue used in it. So, I stole some dialogue from the manga to give you guys more entertainment. I also added a few of my personal touches.
This way, not all of you will be reading the exact same story as the og series. There are also a few very important details added to chapter 11, so I recommend going back to check that out. You don't really have to, though, since I'll address it at the end of this chapter.
Now, with that out of the way, time to answer some questions.
First off, I have planned out how the two casts will meet. I just can't give an exact estimate to how long or how many chapters before that point since I never know how much I'm going to write each chapter.
That said, I plan on writing longer chapters from now on.
Secondly, coreygrffin96 asked a great question. He asked if Team RWBY will encounter any demons before meeting with Tanjiro and the Demon Slayers. The answer is yes, yes they will.
As a matter of fact, in this volume, they will encounter a demon and meet a familiar Demon Slayer. Tanjiro and Nezuko will also meet someone from the RWBY cast in this volume. I hope you will all look forward to it!
Lastly, I'd like to address one of my most recent reviews from bluewill.dl who recommended that I read the manga for Demon Slayer.
Actually, I've already finished the manga last week. I had the same idea you had but I also wanted to know how the story ended.
My thoughts…Eh…it was…
…
…
…
…
…
…
…
FREAKING AMAZING! No really, I loved it! The final arcs, the climax, the deaths (I won't say who since some of you might not have read the manga.), all of it!
I know people like to crap on Demon Slayer's story, but I actually really enjoy the story. I was actually shocked when I found out that people were saying that the story was "mid."
Don't get me wrong, it's far from perfect and the plot armor is clearly present throughout the story, but I don't get why so many people hate on the story so much. Either way, that doesn't stop me from enjoying the story.
It's kind of the same with RWBY, I know it's not very good these days but I still enjoy watching it and will continue to do so.
But back to Demon Slayer. Bro, I must've cried like five times during the Infinity Castle Arc and the Sunrise Countdown Arc. HOW THE HELL DO PICTURES MAKE ME CRY!? (Btw, this was my first manga.)
Reading the manga made me realize why some people prefer it to watching anime. I still prefer anime, but I now have a new appreciation for manga.
I hope that I will be able to one day recreate the powerful emotion I felt in one of my stories so my readers can experience this feeling too!
I give Demon Slayer a 9/10. I doubt many others will feel the same but I do recommend it.
Alright, that's all for now! Smell ya later!
*I do not own RWBY or Demon Slayer. Both shows/manga and all their characters belong to their respective owners.

Chapter 12 - The Gang's All Here!
Yang Xiao Long
Emerald Forest
Bam!
Slash!
Two more Beowolves fell down before Yang's awesome might and Blake's quick slicing. Yang stood atop one of the Grimm before it could disappear.
"YAAAAAH! Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Bring me more victims to slay!" Yang screamed, not noticing the strange looks from her partner who was standing next to her.
"You know, it's getting hard to tell which one's the bloodthirsty monster." Blake stated, earning a wink from Yang.
"Now now, Blakey. Flattery will get you nowhere!" Yang exclaimed.
Blake sighed before looking forward. "Well, there aren't any more Grimm in the area. That, and I think I see the temple."
"Well, what are we waiting for then?" Yang asked as she jumped off the Beowolf's corpse followed by Blake.
Yang and Blake walked through the forest until they came upon an old broken structure. It was circular with over half of its walls missing, leaving a few bricks and pillars at the far end of it.
In front of the walls and pillars were multiple pedestals, most of them having…chess pieces…on top of them. Oooooookaaaay…If those pieces were supposed to have some sort of special meeting, Yang had no clue what it was.
"Yep, that definitely looks like a temple." Yang stated before the two partners moved towards the temple.
The two teens moved towards the pedestals. "Looks like these chess pieces are the artifacts." Blake stated. "Some of them are missing though.
Yang nodded as the two observed the pedestals and artifacts. Guess some teams already beat us here. Oh well, we didn't die in the process, that's a win in my book." She said.
"Well…I guess we should pick one." Blake replied.
Jaune Arc
Emerald Forest: Cave
"Think this is it?" Jaune asked as he and Pyrrha stood in front of the entrance to what looked like a cave.
Jaune glanced at Pyrrha who gave a shrug. The two decided to say "screw it" and go in.
Inside the Cave
Jaune walked through the cave with a lit torch in hand which he found at the entrance. Pyrrha followed closely behind him.
"Jaune, I'm not so sure this is it." Pyrrha said, earning a sigh from Jaune.
"Pyrrha…I made the torch, the least you could do is humor me for a few more feet-GAH!" Jaune yelped as he tripped over a rock and dropped the torch which went out as soon as it hit the floor.
After darkness enveloped the two partners, all that was visible were two pairs of eyes. How that made sense, Jaune had no idea.
"Do you…feel that?" Pyrrha asked Jaune who was trying to remember why he had a death wish lately.
"Soul-crushing regret? Yeah, I've been feeling that a lot today…" He answered.
"No, I mean that something feels…warm." Pyrrha corrected.
Yang
The blonde observed the chess pieces, her eyes landing on a yellow…horse? Yang wasn't really a "chess" person, so she didn't really care.
She picked it up and called for Blake's attention. "How about this cute little pony?" She asked with a smile.
Blake rolled her eyes with a slight smirk. "Sure. Why not? Also, it's a knight." Blake confirmed.
"Knight, pony, what's the difference?" Yang shrugged, earning a facepalm from Blake.
Jaune
Jaune and Pyrrha wandered aimlessly through pitch black before seeing a bright light, the good kind, not the death kind. It seemed to come from some sort of golden spike.
Jaune knew it could only be one thing. "PYRRHA! It's a relic! We found it!l" He shouted as he tried to reach for it.
"Um…Jaune…? I don't think-." Pyrrha tried to warm her partner who ignored her. As he was about to grab the relic, it suddenly moved out of the way.
"What the…!? Hey! Bad…relic!" Jaune scolded the moving object, trying to grab it again and again.
Jaune then made a leap forward and finally managed to grab the elusive relic, allowing him to hang in the air. "Hah! Gotcha!" He yelled triumphantly.
"Jaune…" Pyrrha called out again, her voice sounding more panicky than usual. That's when saw three pairs of glowing reddish-orange eyes, size decreasing from top to bottom.
Jaune could only stare at the glowing outline revealing the scorpion-like Grimm. "Pyrrha…I don't think this is a relic…" He whimpered, realizing his blunder.
Yang
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH ! ! ! !"
Yang suddenly heard a high-pitched scream from somewhere in the forest.
"There's a girl in trouble!" Yang said in alarm. "Blake! Did you hear that!?"
She looked to her partner who just stared at the sky with wide eyes.
"Blake?" Yang asked, confused by her partner's expression.
Pyrrha Nikos
Outside of the Cave
Pyrrha ran out of the cave at full speed, soon being followed by screaming and a giant Death Stalker which crashed right out of the cave entrance.
The scorpion-like Grimm thrashed about while swinging its tail tail with Jaune hanging onto the stinger for dear life.
"AAAAAAHHHH! WHY!? AAAHH, PYRRHA!" Jaune screamed his lungs out.
"WAAAAHAHAHAAAAAA! PYRRHA! THIS IS NOT THE RELIC! I REPEAT, NOT THE RELIC!" Jaune screamed while crying.
"DO SOMETHING!" He cried out while the Death Stalker tried to throw him off its tail, literally.
Pyrrha kept her attention on the Grimm while trying to calm her teammate down. "Jaune! It's going to be okay! Whatever you do, just don't let-!"
YEET!
"WAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Jaune screamed as he was hurled into the air and over the forest.
"-go..." Pyrrha finished her sentence too late before turning back to the large scorpion. It hissed and growled at Pyrrha who looked at it with wide eyes.
She then gave it a nervous smile and quickly ran away.
Yang
"Blake! I said did you hear that!? What should we do!?" Yang yelled to get her partner's attention, but Blake continued staring at the sky.
This frustrated the blonde. "What are you even looking a-!?"
"HEADS UUUUUUUUP!"
Yang then looked up with Blake and saw her adorable little sister falling out of the sky. Yang's eyes nearly popped out of her skull.
"RUBY!?"
Weiss Schnee
-A Few Minutes Ago-
Somewhere in Emerald Forest
"You've got to be kidding me!" Weiss yelled as a giant Nevermore loomed over her and Ruby.
Screech!
The Nevermore rose high before diving towards the two girls.
"RUN!" Weiss yelled before grabbing Ruby's wrist and running away, fully understanding the Grimm's intentions.
The giant Nevermore chased after them, moving way faster than them. It was almost right on top of them as it moved from a dive to a charge aimed at the Huntresses-in-training.
Both Weiss and Ruby threw themselves to the ground to barely dodge the Nevermore's attack. The beast flew up into the sky again with a loud cry before turning around and flapping its wings in the air.
Ruby and Weiss both got up and stared at the giant Nevermore, both of them too shocked to draw their weapons.
The Nevermore dived at them again. Ruby used her semblance to move out of the way while Weiss summoned a white glyph to propel herself into the air over the oversized bird.
Weiss landed in a roll while the Nevermore soared back into the air. Before it could turn around and see her, Weiss quickly ducked behind a tree.
She panted as she tried to compose herself. "Have the teaching staff at Beacon gone mad!? I knew this test would be harder than anything I've done up to this point, but this is ridiculous!"
"Honestly, who would let teenagers fight something THAT BIG!? I didn't even know Nevermore could get to that size!" Weiss thought before seeing rose petals appear next to her.
Soon, Ruby materialized from the petals and sat next to Weiss, giving said heiress a slight spook. "Weiss, what do we do!?" Ruby whispered loudly.
Weiss thought about it, but coming up with nothing. "I don't know, I've never fought something that big before..." Weiss admitted.
Before leaving for Beacon, Weiss fought an Arma Gigas Grimm as a way of proving to her father that she could follow in her sister's footsteps and gaining his permission to attend Beacon.
She won, but she received the scar over her eye as a result of it. The size of that Arma Gigas paled in comparison to the giant Nevermore attacking her now.
"Weiss, I think I have an idea." Weiss's eyes widened before turning to her younger partner who had a small look of determination.
Weiss didn't trust whatever this dunce would say, but it beat sitting around doing nothing...hopefully. Weiss sighed. "Alright, let's hear it."
Ruby seemed just as shocked before smiling. "Alright! So, next time that bird comes swooping down on us again..."
Weiss nodded to show that she was following so far. "...We jump on its back and ride it to the temple!"
...
...
...
...
...
Bonk!
"Ow! What was that for!?" Ruby yelled after Weiss hit her on top of the head.
"You KNUCKLEHEAD! That's a TERRIBLE IDEA!" Weiss snapped.
"Well, do YOU have a better idea?" Ruby asked while rubbing her head.
"No, but-." Weiss replied before Ruby grabbed her wrist and pulled her out into the open area, right into the view of the Nevermore.
"My plan it is then!" Ruby announced with a smile as the Nevermore released another cry and dived at them. At this point, Weiss had no choice but to a go with Ruby's plan and the two jumped onto the bird's back.
The Nevermore soared into the air again and seemingly noticed the two Huntresses-in-Training hanging on its back.
It cried out and started flying all over the place, trying to shake them off. It was hell as Weiss could feel her stomach drop from all the dives and loop-de-loops performed by the Nevermore.
"RUBYYYYY! I TOLD YOU THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA!" Weiss yelled so that Ruby would hear her over all the wind.
"WE'RE FINE, STOP WORRYING!" Ruby assured the heiress who simply glared at her.
"OH, I AM SO BEYOND WORRYING RIGHT NOW!" Weiss yelled back, earning a stupid look from her partner.
"...IN A GOOD WAY!?" She asked.
"IN A BAD WAY, MORON! IN A VERY BAD WAY!" Weiss snapped. Ruby looked at Weiss with a frustrated expression.
"WELL IF I'M SUCH A MORON, WHY DON'T WE JUST JUMP!?" Ruby suggested, causing Weiss' eyes to widen.
"ARE YOU INSANE!?"
...
...
...
...
It was at this moment that Weiss realized that Ruby was no longer there.
"...OH, YOU INSUFFERABLE LITTLE SH-!"
-Present-
Ruby Rose
"HEADS UUUUUUUP!"
"RUBY!?"
Ruby saw Yang and Blake on the ground as she fell uncontrollably, However, before she could adjust herself to land properly, something collided with the young girl at high speeds which caused her to fly horizontally instead of vertically.
Both Ruby and the unknown object crashed into some trees. Ruby knocked her head onto the wood as she landed on a large branch.
Despite her Aura absorbing most of the impact, it did little to stop the dizziness that followed her severe head trauma.
Stars and Grimm puppies floated above her head in a circle and her eyes became cartoonish swirls. "Ugh...What even was that?" She wondered out loud before hearing an "ahem."
Ruby shook herself out of her daze and looked in front of her to see Jaune hanging upside down from another branch above hers.
"Hey, Ruby..." Jaune said while trying not to look her in the eye. Ruby couldn't help but smirk.
"Hey Jaune *Pfft* How's it...hanging? *Pfft*" Ruby joked, earning a groan from Jaune. Ruby stopped smiling when she realized just how bad that pun was.
"I need to stop hanging out with Yang so much..."
Yang
Yang could only stare off into the same direction that Ruby and apparently Jaune flew in. Blake seemed almost just as flabbergasted.
"Did...Did your sister just fall out of the sky...?" She asked.
"...I-." Was all Yang had time to say before they both heard a growl and trees falling in front of them.
Soon, an Ursa charged out of the trees and started clawing at the air for some reason. Then, a pink explosion hit the beast's back, causing it to stop and fall limply to the ground.
"YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAW!" After the Ursa fell, an orange-haired girl with a grenade launcher on her back rolled off of the Grimm onto the ground.
She got up with a disappointed look on her face. "Aw...It broke..." The girl said before jumping back onto the Ursa's head and observing it. "Ewww..."
Soon, a guy with black hair with a pink stripe ran up to the Ursa and put a hand on it for support. "Nora...Please...don't ever do that...again..." He said between breaths.
He then realized that the girl, who's name was apparently Nora, had already jumped off the Grimm and sped off to the temple.
While the boy was looking for her, Nora was looking at the relics in awe. "Ooooooo..." She said while staring at a yellow rook piece.
She then grabbed a white rook and held it up triumphantly. To this day, Yang had no idea where the hell the fanfare came from.
"I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!"
"NORA!"
Nora was shook out of her little song and dance number with the rook on her head. She giggled and saluted, allowing the rook to fall off of her head and into her left hand.
"Whoops! Coming, Ren!" Nora replied to the yelling boy, Ren, before skipping over towards him. Yang and Blake stared at her with wide eyes.
"D-Did that girl...just ride on an Ursa?" Blake asked. Yang, once again, had little to say.
"I-" Yang was interrupted again by another noise. Yang and Blake looked to their right to see a red-haired girl in armor run into view followed by a Death Stalker on her tail, knocking down any trees in its way.
Upon making it to the opening surrounding the temple, the beast swiped at the armored girl with its right pincer. The girl jumped high enough to avoid the attack through the opening in the pincer.
The Death Stalker tried to swing at her again with its other arm, but it barely missed as she rolled forward upon landing on the ground.
"Jaune!" She yelled while running for her life.
Ruby
Meanwhile, Ruby was still in the tree while the upside down Jaune Arc craned his neck to look at the redhead running from the Grimm.
"Pyrrha!" He yelled back in response to hearing his name before trying to get himself free from the branch he was hanging on.
Ruby only stared at the scorpion-like monster in awe. "Whoa..." She said before getting up from her branch and to the end of it.
"Ruby!" Jaune yelled while reaching his hands out as she passed him, almost like he was asking for help. However, Ruby was more concerned about the armored "Pyrrha" girl.
She jumped off the branch to the ground, rolling towards the temple. "Ruby?" Ruby looked to her right to see Yang.
A big smile formed on both sisters' faces. "Yang!" Ruby yelled with her arms raised. The two were about embrace each other before...
"Nora!" An orange-haired girl popped up between Ruby and Yang and accidentally pushed them back with her arms which were spread out to the sides.
After recovering from her shock, Yang angrily grabbed Nora's hair and pulled her so that she was between her and Blake. "Oww, oww, oww, Oooowww! I'm sorry, okay!? Jeez!"
Meanwhile, Pyrrha continued to run away from the Grimm as Blake and Ruby stared. "Did she just run all the way here with a Death Stalker on her tail?" Blake asked.
Ruby looked at Yang to see her fists shaking in frustration. It didn't take long before Ruby realized that Yang had had enough, the glowing hair and red eyes were a big hint.
"Grrrr...I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! CAN EVERYONE JUST CHILL THE F OUT FOR LIKE TWO SECONDS BEFORE MORE CRAZY SHIT HAPPENS! *Huff* *Huff* *Huff*"
One...
Two...
DING!
Ruby looked up while another guy walked in between Blake and Nora. He must've been Nora's teammate given how excited she seemed now that he was there. She was pretty sure his name was Ren.
Nonetheless, Ruby poked Yang's shoulder. "Um...Sis?" Ruby said to get her attention.
Yang sighed as her whole body slumped in defeat. "What...?"
Everyone present looked up to see the giant Nevermore that chased Ruby and Weiss. Speaking of, Weiss happened to be hanging off of one of the Nevermore's talons.
Ruby could only wonder why the heck she didn't jump. "HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME!" Weiss screamed while hanging on for dear life.
Ruby shrugged. "I SAID 'JUMP!'" She yelled back in her defense.
"She's gonna fall." Blake stated calmly.
"She'll be fine." Ruby assured her.
"She's falling." Ren noted
Jaune
At that moment, Jaune had finally gotten himself down from the tree branch and landed on another one. That's when he saw Weiss falling from the sky.
Despite the crisis, he couldn't help but smile. This was his chance! He wasted no time as he jumped into the air right into Weiss' path.
It felt almost like he was floating as he caught the beautiful heiress in his arms, he gave her the most charming smile.
"Just dropping in?" Jaune teased as Weiss stared at him with fear still present in her eyes. She then looked down before her eyes widened.
Jaune looked confused until he too looked down and realized that he overlooked one small thing.
"Oh god..."
That small thing...was none other than gravity.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!"
Thud!
Jaune landed on the ground face-first, groaning in pain. Before he could get up, Weiss fell on his back and sat there as if the poor boy was a chair.
"My hero." She said sarcastically while checking her nails.
"My back..." Jaune replied.
Ruby
After seeing poor Jaune's so called "rescue attempt," Pyrrha was launched by the Death Stalker and landed on her back in front of everyone else.
"Great! The gang's all here!" Yang stated. "Now we can all die together!"
"What happened to you?" Blake asked Pyrrha as she got up.
"Well, Jaune and I were exploring a cave, and as you can see, we sort of walked into the home of that Deathstalker." Pyrrha explained while pointing at the oversized scorpion.
Jaune and Weiss joined the group. "Forget about it!" Jaune butted in. "Let's just grab the relics and go!"
Ruby looked at the chess pieces which she assumed were the relics. Then, she turned towards the Deathstalker coming towards them.
"I thought you would be some prodigy that might've given the best students a run for their money. But now, I see that you are just a child that got extremely lucky."
Ruby looked at the ground with clenched fists and a sad look that didn't go unnoticed by Yang. "Ruby?"
"Until you grow up, Ruby Rose, we can never be partners."
Ruby took out Crescent Rose and got ready to charge. "You guys go, I'll hold it off!" She announced before she moved forward.
"Wha-!? Wait, Ruby! Stop!" Yang called out, but Ruby didn't listen.
"I'll be right behind you, promise!" Ruby said as she passed Weiss who's eyes were wide.
Ruby looked at Weiss with a determined look. "I'll prove it to you...I'll prove that I can do this! To everyone!"
Ruby used her Semblance to speed towards the Deathstalker, narrowly avoiding its swipes. She rematerialized above the Grimm with her weapon held high for an overhead swing.
Ruby pulled the trigger on her scythe, allowing the tip to slam into the Deathstalker's armor-coated head. However, all she managed to do was cause a crack in the bone.
"It's too tough! I can't cut it!" Ruby realized with wide eyes before the Grimm knocked her out of the air with one of its pincers.
Ruby rolled on the ground before getting back on her feet, her Aura having tanked the blow.
"D-Don't worry...T-Totally f-fine..." She said shakily as she shook herself out of her daze. That's when she noticed that the Death Stalker was right on top of her.
Ruby quickly shot the Grimm with Crescent Rose and ran away. "Ruby!" Yang yelled as she ran towards her.
The two sisters sprinted towards each other until Ruby heard a screech behind her. She looked back to see the Nevermore catching up to her.
Ruby looked forward and ran as fast as possible when unknown to her, the Nevermore lifted its wings back before launching its giant feathers at the ground.
The feathers pierced the earth and formed a wide trail towards Ruby who was soon caught by the feathers after one managed to catch the cape of her hood.
Ruby fell on the ground due to the sudden stop in momentum. She looked behind her and realized that her hood was stuck.
She tried to pull at her cape to tear it out. When that didn't work, she tried to pull out the feather to no avail.
The feathers continued flying forward before nearly hitting Yang and keeping her from reaching Ruby. "Ruby! Get out of there!" Yang warned her little sister.
"I'm trying!" Ruby yelled back while trying to get herself free. But, it wasn't long before Death Stalker was right in front of her.
The Grimm prepared to stab the young girl with its giant stinger. Fear started to creep into her eyes as she silently cursed herself for her recklessness.
Ruby could only close her eyes and prepare herself for the potentially fatal blow.
"I'm...I'm done for!"
Yang
Yang watched in horror as the Death Stalker was about to attack Ruby. "RUBY!" She yelled before seeing a white flash pass by. For some reason, she suddenly felt cold.
"What the hell was that?" Yang thought as the flash made its way towards her little sister.
Ruby
Ruby prepared herself for the Death Stalker's attack...But then she felt very cold. Then...she heard someone breath loudly.
That's when she heard a familiar voice.
Aura Enhanced Total Concentration, Ice Breathing: Fourth Form - Unstoppable Rising Glacier
The cold air became freezing to the point where Ruby started shivering. "You are so childish." Ruby opened her eyes at the sound of Weiss' voice.
She looked up to see Weiss looking down at her with ice forming on her body. Behind her, the Death Stalker's tail was stuck in a huge pile of ice. The stinger of the tail was right next to Ruby's face.
Weiss walked up to Ruby as the ice on her face began to melt. "Weiss...?" Ruby said dumbfounded.
"And dimwitted, and hyperactive, and don't even get me started on your fighting style." Weiss continued from her previous sentence as Ruby flinched at the insults.
Then, Weiss crossed her arms and looked apologetic. "That said...I may have been a bit unfair to you...I'm sorry." Ruby would've raised an eyebrow but she was too shocked that Weiss would actually admit that.
"You were right, we have to stick together. Otherwise, we'll both end up dead." Weiss leaned forward with a small smile. "So if you quit trying to show off, I promise to be...nicer."
Ruby looked down. "I'm not trying to show off...I just want to show you that I can do this." Ruby said, earning a frown from her partner.
But Weiss smiled again and straightened herself. "You're fine, Ruby. You may still be a child, But I see that you are just as determined as I am."
"Professor Ozpin is a wise man, at least I hope so, anyway. The fact that you're even here is proof enough that you belong."
"Besides, if you really feel you have to 'prove it,' you'll have plenty of opportunities once we get out of this forest."
"But you won't be able to prove anything if you end up dying." Weiss offered Ruby a hand, her smile still present. "That's why we need to have each other's backs."
"So let's do this...partner."
Ruby's eyes widened even more. Weiss had actually accepted her. She was worthy! "Normal knees..."
Ruby took Weiss' hand and got up from the ground after getting the feather out of her cape, she frowned at the small hole it made but didn't complain.
Ruby then squinted her eyes and looked at Weiss' face, getting closer and closer much to the heiress' discomfort. "Um...Is there are reason you're looking at me like that?" Weiss asked.
Ruby then moved all around Weiss, inspecting her body with crossed arms. "Y-Yes? What is it!?"
"Juuuust making sure you're not an imposter." Ruby answered.
"WHAT!?" Weiss yelled with white rectangles for eyes.
"I mean, you not only accepted me as a partner, but you also admitted that you were jealous of me of all people. The selfish, sassy, sharp-tongued Weiss I knew would never be so nice and honest." Ruby explained.
"GUH! Y-You ungrateful little-!" Weiss said with a twitch in her left eye before Ruby chuckled, catching the heiress off guard.
"Thanks, partner!" Ruby exclaimed with the biggest smile she could muster. A smile that, according to Yang, was so bright that it could illuminate the dark side of the moon.
Weiss' face became slightly red with wide eyes before she scoffed and looked to the right with crossed arms. "W-Whatever..."
Ruby was confused. "Hmm? Weiss, are you okay? Your face is red."
Bonk!
"Ow!"
"JUST SHUT UP AND GRAB A RELIC, YOU DOLT!" Weiss snapped before walking off, leaving Ruby to rub the top of her head.
Ruby looked at Weiss walk away. "What was THAT about?"
But before she could figure out the reason for Weiss' behavior, Ruby turned around just in time for Yang to catch her in a bear hug, causing the poor girl to grunt. "Oh, Ruby! I'm so glad you're okay!" Yang exclaimed before letting go of her and raising her fist.
Bonk!
"OW! Why does everyone keep hitting me on the head today!?" Ruby asked while rubbing the top of her head after Yang hit her there. Yang then got in her face.
"Next time you run off like that when I tell you to stop, I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD! YOU GOT THAT, YOUNG LADY!?" She yelled, causing Ruby to shake in her boots.
"Uh...I..." Ruby failed to form an answer before Yang embraced her once again.
"Oh, I didn't mean it, Rubes! I love you so much! I could never be mad at you!" Yang changed her tone once again while nearly crushing Ruby's back, her Aura doing very little to help.
"WHAT IS HAPPENING!?" Ruby wondered as she tried not to pass out.
Ozpin
Beacon Cliff
Ozpin stared at the footage from the cameras placed near the temple on his scroll, Glynda watching beside him with a look of concern.
"The Deathstalker was one thing, but how did we let a Nevermore of that size get into the forest!?" Glynda asked herself before taking out and opening her scroll.
"That does it, I'm calling Port and Oobleck to deal with this. This is too much for the students." Glynda said before Ozpin put a hand on her shoulder.
"Wait," he said. "I want to see how they handle this."
Glynda looked at the headmaster as if he had just grown a third eye. "Professor, they're children! I know that instructors are to not interfere, but they are not ready for this level of combat!" She argued.
"You may call Port and Oobleck to keep watch. If the children are in any real danger, they will step in, despite what I said about instructors not intervening." Ozpin reasoned with the Huntress.
This seemed to satisfy her, if only slightly as she crossed her arms and sighed. "Very well."
While Glynda made the call, Ozpin put a hand to his chin and smirked. "We've gotten quite the batch of students this year. I look forward to seeing what action they will take."
Ozpin knew the smart idea was to run for the cliffs and get to safety, but he had a feeling that conflict was inevitable. "I just I don't regret my decision to leave it to them."
Yang
Back in Emerald Forest
Yang and Ruby caught up to the rest of the students who had all gathered in front of the temple.
CAAAAAAAW!
Everyone looked up to see the giant Nevermore circling around them. "Um, guys...?" Jaune started with a look of panic, "That thing is circling back."
That's when Weiss stepped in. "Look, there's no point in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right there." She pointed to the temple.
"She's right," Ruby added, "Professor Ozpin said we just have to grab a relic and make it back to the cliffs. If we hurry, we can avoid fighting any Grimm."
Yang noticed Ruby and Weiss give a smile and a nod to each other. "So much for a negative friend, eh, sis?" Yang thought with a smirk.
"Run and live. Now THAT'S an idea I can get behind." Jaune said with a smile of his own.
Ruby and Weiss grabbed the last knight pieces while Jaune, Ren, and Pyrrha grabbed the last rooks.
Crack!
Everyone turned towards the Deathstalker who had finally gotten its tail out of Weiss' ice trap.
"Guys, I don't mean to alarm you, but it's time we left." Ren announced.
"Right, let's go!" Ruby called out before everyone started to run towards the cliffs. Everyone...except Yang, who looked at her sister who led the charge.
Yang stared at Ruby as she motioned for everyone to keep moving. The same Ruby who used to flinch when she saw someone even look at her. Yang couldn't contain the proud smile on her face.
Blake Belladonna
Blake ran beside Weiss, looking at her face. Weiss noticed this and frowned.
"For the last time, I'm not an imposter!" Weiss snapped.
"I never said you were." Blake replied.
"Well, you were thinking it!"
"Maybe. I'm just surprised you of all people would go out of your way to save her."
"What was I supposed to do, just sit back and watch her die?"
"No, you did the right thing. That's what surprised me."
Blake looked forward while running and could feel Weiss still looking at her.
"I was wrong about you, Schn-...Weiss. You're not that bad."
Weiss seemed shocked by that statement. Alas, Blake couldn't help but add more.
"I mean, you've got a serious ego, and slight anger issues, and your attitude could use some work. But, you're not that bad."
Weiss stared at Blake with a blank expression. "Gee, thanks."
They continued to run through the forest, the Deathstalker and Nevermore were nowhere in sight.
"She's serious, you know." Blake blurted out.
"Huh?" Weiss replied.
"Ruby, she really wants to save everyone. It's not just a childish dream to her. I can see that, and I think you can too."
"W-Where's this coming from?"
Blake looked up to the sky and remembered last night.
-Last Night-
Beacon - Ballroom
Everyone had fallen asleep, everyone except Blake who decided to read her book, "The Man with Two Souls," a book that she had read dozens of times, by candlelight.
She knew it wasn't wise to stay up late, especially when the initiation was tomorrow. But, she just couldn't bring herself to sleep.
Blake was too distracted thinking about her past, about Adam. Regret and guilt kept eating at her, reading was the only thing that could take her mind off of it.
Her bow twitched as she heard a noise in front of her. That girl named Ruby was rolling around in bed while groaning.
This happened for a while until Blake decided to say something. "Can't sleep either, huh?" Blake whispered.
Ruby's body jumped in surprise before she raised her head and looked back at Blake, clearly not noticing before that she was awake.
"N-Not really." She admitted. "I'm a little nervous about tomorrow."
Blake simply nodded. "Makes sense, you did skip two grades. It's only natural that you feel some pressure"
"Yeah..." Ruby looked down for a bit before looking back at Blake.
"What are you reading?" She asked, surprising Blake.
"Hmm?"
"Your book, what's it about?"
"Oh, well...It's about a man with two souls."
"Yeah, I guessed that from the title."
"Each soul is trying to take control of the body, which results in a lot of chaos and drama."
"Huh, sounds neat." Ruby said. "My dad always used to read me and Yang stories. Stories about heroes defeating monsters and saving people."
"Yes, I remember you saying that you wanted to be like them." As she said that, Blake developed a look of concern. "Don't you think you're being a bit...naive?"
"What do you mean?"
"Look, Ruby. I know you mean well, but life isn't a fairytale. You can't always help everyone, this world is too cruel."
Ruby looked at Blake for awhile before giving a slight chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Blake asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Nothing, I just remembered something Yang always used to say. Whenever I talked about how the world isn't like a fairytale, she would always say 'That's why we're here, to make it better."
Blake smiled a little at that. "Your sister is wiser than she seems."
"Heh, yeah."
Ruby adopted a serious expression. "Look, I'm not stupid. I know I won't be able to help everyone all the time."
"But, that doesn't mean I'm not gonna try. Once I become a Huntress, I'll save as many people as I can. Just like my dad, my uncle,...and my mom." Ruby looked sad after saying that last part.
"Did...Did something happen to your mom?" Blake asked, trying her best not to cross any boundaries.
"She...When I was little, she left for a mission and never came back. Dad was devastated, and Yang had to take care of me by herself for a whole year before he recovered."
"I'm very sorry to hear that." Blake said with nothing but sincerity.
"Yeah, I don't really remember her that well. According to Yang, she was a super-mom. Slayer of monsters and baker of cookies." Ruby chuckled again.
Blake gave a small smile. "She sounds like a great person. I can see why you want to be like her."
Ruby smiled back. "That's why I have to pass initiation tomorrow, that'll be my first step to becoming a Huntress."
"I see. In that case...I'll be rooting for you."
After sharing a nod, Ruby laid back down in bed.
"Hey, Blake?"
"Hmm?"
"I don't want you to think I'm childish but..." Blake noticed Ruby blushing. "Can you read me to sleep?"
Blake couldn't keep the smile off of her face. "Sure."
"After getting through work, Jack ran all the way to his apartment. After stepping inside, he slammed the door behind him and put his back against it."
"'Well, that could've gone better.' He said after letting himself fall to the ground."
"'Yeah, no kidding.' Harry responded in Jack's head. 'I try to get some action and you had to go...ahem...muck it up.'" Blake censored that last part.
"Jack sighed. 'And I keep telling you to not do anything stupid while taking control of my body. Haven't you ruined my life already!?' He said."
"'Yeah, yeah, yeah.' Harry replied. 'It's not my fault you're too gutless to talk to woman, you introvert loser.'"
"Jack said nothing as he got up and went to his fridge. 'I need a drink.' He said."
"'Yeah, you and me both.' Harry added."
"Zzzzzzzzzz"
Blake's story was interrupted by the sound of a sleeping Ruby. "Yeah, I always thought that chapter was boring too." Blake thought.
She put her book away and blew out her candle. Ruby's optimism and determination really seemed to cheer Blake up.
-Present-
Blake looked at Weiss again while running. "When you said that she does belong here, I agreed."
"She may be a little naive, but she has spirit, and a good heart. That's why it's good that she has someone to support her."
"I hope you two get along." Blake gave a small smile.
Weiss stared at Blake for a bit before looking forward again. "Hmm, you're an odd person. But, You're not so bad yourself, though I could do without the slander on my family."
Blake frowned before playing it off as a joke. "I guess that's fair. No promises, though." She said before picking up her pace.
Blake was amazed that she was actually able to hold a conversation with a Schnee. Though, that's likely due to the fact that Weiss didn't know her secret.
Beacon Candidates Vs. Deathstalker and Nevermore
(Shared POV)
The group of teens ran all the way to a clearing in the forest with stone pillars holding up roofs on their left and right.
Beyond the structures was a stone bridge leading to a broken tower which led to other stone bridges, all of which stood over a large foggy pit with no visible bottom.
The group of Huntsmen-in-training saw Beacon Cliff just beyond the multiple stone structures. Before they could continue, however, they all heard a loud cry above them.
Screech!
Everyone looked up to see the Nevermore moving ahead of them to block their path. They all split up in pairs and hid behind pillars. Ruby with Yang, Weiss with Blake, Ren with Nora, and Jaune with Pyrrha.
The giant bird Grimm perched atop the broken tower and let out another echoing cry, as if it was daring the teens to come forward.
"Well, that's just great." Yang said in frustration in reaction to the Nevermore's taunt.
Suddenly, everyone turned back towards the forest as they heard more trees falling. The Deathstalker charged forward onto the scene, forcing everyone to flee from their positions.
The Nevermore was waiting for this, however, and flew off the tower before firing another storm of feathers. Fortunately, the Beacon Candidates all managed to dodge the attack.
As they ran, Ren turned to Nora. "Nora, distract the Nevermore!" He ordered, earning an excited salute from his partner and childhood friend.
Nora stopped in her tracks and took out her war hammer/grenade launcher, Magnhild, in its gun form and aimed at the flying beast.
"Eat this, you oversized CHICKEN!" Nora yelled before launching a volley of grenades, each one hitting its mark.
The Nevermore recoiled from the blasts before it flew out of range. Nora smiled triumphantly, not noticing the Deathstalker behind her until the last minute.
Lucky for her, Ren and Blake came at the beast from both sides and slashed at its head. They didn't do any damage, but they did buy enough time for Weiss to get to and grab Nora and use a white glyph to jump to safety.
Everyone made it to the bridge with Blake and Ren being at the back of the group with Jaune and Pyrrha in front of them.
Pyrrha looked back and saw the Deathstalker gaining on them, she stopped running and turned around before taking out her weapon, Miló, in rifle form.
She shot at the Grimm in an attempt to slow it down, being soon joined by Ren who also fired at the monster while Blake ran by.
Sadly, neither was doing much thanks to the Deathstalker's armor. The two were forced to retreat as the Deathstalker was now on top of them and swiped at them with its pincers.
Luckily, the Deathstalker was too big to get onto the bridge, allowing them some time to breathe. That didn't last long, though.
Jaune heard a familiar cry and looked to his left, eyes widening at the sight of the Nevermore flying towards the bridge.
As the beast got closer to the supports of the bridge leading to the tower, it was clear what its objective was.
"Look out!" Jaune warned his comrades as everyone noticed the Nevermore just before it crashed into the middle of the bridge, creating a large gap and separating the future Huntsmen.
On the side where the tower was, there was Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Jaune, and Nora. On the other side where they just were was Pyrrha, Blake, and Ren.
Jaune was thrown to the ground by the impact, barely escaping death by falling into the abyss below them. He got up and saw Pyrrha and the others desperately fighting off the Deathstalker as they were now in its range.
Meanwhile, Ruby, Yang, and Weiss were firing bullets and Dust at the Nevermore. Nora, who was also thrown to the ground, was just getting up.
Jaune was more worried about Pyrrha's side. If they were pushed back any further, they might fall off.
"We have to help them!" Jaune said, earning Nora's attention.
"Then let's get over there!" Nora said with a smile. Jaune looked over the edge of the broken bridge, getting slightly nauseous from seeing how high he was.
"Y-Yeah but...How exactly do we do that? You may not know this, but I don't exactly have a jumping or flying Semblance...or any Sem-Whoa!" Jaune was pushed back by Nora and fell on his butt.
Jaune looked at the hammer-wielder with confusion, but Nora responded with a wink before jumping and raising her weapon which was now in hammer mode.
Jaune then realized what the excited girl was about to do. "W-Wait a sec! Let's talk about THIIIIIIIIIIIIS!" Jaune said before Nora smashed the end of the bridge.
This resulted in a portion of the bridge tilting downward, launching Jaune, who was on the rising end of the chunk of bridge, like a giant seesaw with an anchor dropped on it.
Nora was about to fall with the chunk of bridge before she positioned herself to stand on the head of her now upside-down hammer
She pulled the trigger on the handle and the hammer launched a grenade behind her, the resulting recoil sending Nora towards the other side of the gap with a screaming Jaune Arc who landed face flat next to Pyrrha.
Before Nora landed, she lifted her hammer above her head as she approached the Deathstalker before slamming it downward to smash the beast.
Sadly, the Deathstalker saw this coming as well and parried with its pincers, knocking Nora back into to Blake who was pushed off of the bridge and fell towards the abyss.
Ruby on the other side noticed this and was about to go save her before Blake threw her weapon, Gambol Shroud, which had a long ribbon attached to it.
The sword/gun/kusarigama caught onto another smaller bridge, allowing Blake to swing towards the giant Nevermore as it flew by.
The Nevermore tried to charge into Blake, but she took her cleaver-like sheath and slashed at its head to propel herself onto its back while yanking her sword back to her.
Blake then ran down the bird's back and and swung her sword back and forth, trying to penetrate its thick skin. She then jumped off before the Nevermore could take her for a joyride like it did for Ruby and Weiss.
Blake landed on the tall tower, not noticing Ruby staring at her amazing weapon with stars in her eyes. Ruby shook herself out of her excitement and joined Blake on the tower, followed by Weiss and Yang.
"It's tougher than it looks, I slashed at it with all my might and it did nothing." Blake warned the other girls. Yang looked at the Nevermore without fear.
"Then let's hit it with everything we've got!" Yang yelled as she got reader to fire her gauntlets. Ruby and Blake shifted their weapons into gun mode while Weiss switched to Ice Dust on her Myrtenaster.
The four girls fired at the Nevermore as it charged straight at the tower. But, it's armor held up as the bullets and Dust did nothing to stop it.
"Watch out!" Ruby warned before the girls all jumped off the tower before the Nevermore crashed into the tower and knocked it down.
Everyone managed to avoid falling into the abyss and made it onto another small bridge through the use of Semblances and Propulsion via Dust. The Nevermore flew above them in circles, almost like it was mocking them, a thought that irritated the Huntresses-in-training.
"None of this is working!" Weiss stated.
"Thanks, Captain Obvious!" Yang replied. "What exactly do we do about it!?"
Ruby put a hand to her chin. "If we want to take out that Nevermore, we'll have to use a ton of force." Ruby thought.
"Maybe I could use the recoil on Crescent Rose to build momentum, but I'd have to get close enough to do that. So how do I..."
Ding!
"Girls! I have an idea!" Ruby announced, gaining the attention of the other three.
They all nodded. "Well, let's hear it then!" Weiss replied.
Meanwhile, the other four (Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren) were still fending off the Deathstalker that was trying to get onto the bridge.
Soon, the Grimm lost its short patience and thrusted its tail at the end of the bridge, causing it to crumble and start to fall. It hoped to either have the teens fall to their deaths or force them to come to it.
They all chose the ladder. "Looks like we have no choice, we have to charge it!" Jaune said as he ran towards the Deathstalker.
The Grimm thrusted its tail at Jaune who blocked it with his shield, allowing Pyrrha to jump over him and slash at the monster and force it back.
It tried to swipe at Pyrrha, but Jaune came in to block its pincer. Then, the Deathstalker's tail thrusted at Jaune who jumped back.
"That tail is a real pain in the ass!" Jaune thought.
"Ren, can you do something about that tail!?" Jaune asked in desperation.
Ren nodded. "I'll see what I can do!" He answered as he charged the creature and grabbed onto its tail which was stuck in the ground.
The Grimm lifted its tail while Ren took one half of Stormflower and shot at the part of the tail connecting the stinger, hoping to detach it.
Unfortunately, Pyrrha had thrown her javelin into one of the Deathstalker's eyes, causing it to recoil and swing its tail to the right, throwing Ren into a nearby pillar, completely shattering the remains of his Aura.
"REN!" Nora yelled out to her best friend who was just taken out of commission. Jaune was also concerned but right now they had bigger fish to fry.
Jaune looked at the stinger of the beast and noticed how it was dangling. He looked to Pyrrha who was also looking at the stinger.
"Pyrrha!" He called out.
"On it!" She answered back before throwing her shield at the tail before the Grimm could figure out their plan. The shield went straight through the part between the tail and the stinger, successfully cutting it off.
Pyrrha's shield bounced off of another pillar and returned to its owner.
The monster wailed in pain, this was their chance. Jaune looked back to Nora who had just gotten out of her shock.
"Nora, nail it!" He ordered, earning a mischievous grin in response.
"You got it! Heads up, Pyrrha!" Nora said before charging towards Pyrrha who got her shield ready to boost Nora up.
Nora jumped onto her shield and Pyrrha pushed her up with all her strength. Nora looked like she was having the time of her life before positioning herself so that the recoil from her grenade launcher would send her crashing down.
She fell at high speeds before slamming her hammer down onto the Grimm with devastating force with a mighty battle cry.
The ground underneath it broke, the teens all ran to the other side while the Deathstalker fell to its death in the abyss.
Everyone took a minute to catch their breath while Ren limped over to them.
"Did...we win?" Was the last thing Ren said before falling onto the ground.
Jaune looked back at the giant Nevermore which looked very much alive. "Not yet..."
Back to the tussle with the Nevermore. Blake was swinging all over the place, the Nevermore on her tail which was exactly what she wanted.
Meanwhile, Yang stood on the tallest structure she could find and fired a volley of explosive shots at the giant bird.
Thanks to Blake's distraction, Yang was able to get a good amount of shots in. She finally managed to get a head shot, annoying the Grimm enough to get its attention.
The Nevermore gave up on Blake and flew towards Yang with its mouth wide open. Yang was not shaken at all, given the fact that she fearlessly jumped into the bird's mouth as it charged at her.
She used her legs and left arm to hold the beast's beak open while firing her weapon into its gullet.
"Eat this, You oversized CHICKEN!" Yang yelled while firing, throwing the Nevermore off course.
"Breakfast! Lunch! And Dinner! Oh, and let's not forget dessert!"
Yang looked back and stopped firing as the Nevermore was about to crash into the cliff. She jumped out of the creature's beak and landed on another bridge.
The giant Nevermore tried to turn, but only ended up slamming its back against the cliff. It managed to land on another stair-like structure at the end of the bridge.
Yang saw that the others were in position and smirked as Weiss ran towards the Nevermore, passing her on the way.
The Nevermore was shaken out of its daze and tried to take off. But, Weiss managed to jump onto the structure it landed on and used Ice Dust to freeze its tail wing, trapping the giant Grimm.
Weiss wasted no time as she used a white glyph to shoot her self back to the others.
Ruby stood in the middle of the platform where the tower once stood with two pillars on each side.
Blake stood on Ruby's left and threw Gambol Shroud to the other pillar, allowing Yang, who was standing on said pillar, to catch it and attach it to her pillar. This made the ribbon attacked to Gambol Shroud go straight.
As Weiss got behind her, Ruby jumped onto the ribbon while standing on Crescent Rose's blade. The ribbon was stretched in the middle, forming a giant slingshot.
Weiss summoned a glyph and turned it from white to black. Ruby and the ribbon touched the glyph and were stuck in place.
Weiss sighed. "Only the great Ruby Rose could come up with a plan this complex." Weiss said sarcastically.
"Ha ha." Ruby shot back. "As long as you can make the shot, it doesn't matter."
"Hmph. Fair enough." Weiss said with a smirk.
...
...
...
...
"You CAN make the shot, right?"
"OF COURSE I CAN!" Weiss snapped.
The Nevermore tried desperately to escape from the ice which was cracking while Ruby waited to give the order.
"You want to prove to me you can do this?" Ruby looked at Weiss who was smiling. "Now's your chance, partner."
Ruby returned the smile before looking at the Nevermore who was about to break Weiss' ice.
"NOW!"
The black glyph below Ruby turned white and Ruby was launched towards the cliff, her Crescent Rose firing behind her for more speed.
The Nevermore escaped the ice, but was far too late to avoid the young girl launching at it. Ruby used her scythe to hook the Grimm's neck as she landed on the side of the cliff.
White glyphs appeared before Ruby, leading all the way to the cliff. This was thanks to Weiss using every bit of Aura she could muster.
Ruby ran up the cliff, dragging the Nevermore with her while simultaneously firing down to boost herself up.
The three girls below cheered her on.
"FINISH HIM, SIS!" Yang yelled
"GO!" Blake yelled.
"YOU'VE GOT THIS!" Weiss yelled the loudest.
Ruby reached the top of the cliff as the Nevermore got stuck on its underside.
With a defiant yell, Ruby shot her weapon a final time and decapitated the the giant Nevermore.
The battle...was over.
Weiss
Ruby landed on top of Beacon Cliff and looked down at her comrades, the wind blowing at her hair and cape.
She gave a smile and a thumbs up, signaling that victory was theirs.
Yang was the first to celebrate.
"HELL YEAH! WE DID IT! SCREW YOU, BIG BIRD!"
Blake smiled and nodded.
Jaune and the others watched the Nevermore's corpse fall onto the bridge with a loud thud.
"Whoa..." Was all that Jaune could say, still not believing what he just saw.
Weiss looked at her partner, all doubt she once had was gone. Ruby belonged here, and Weiss would ignore anyone who said otherwise.
She returned the thumbs up and smile to her partner.
-Later-
Amphitheater
"Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Skye Lark." Ozpin called out the names of the four young men on the stage in front of him.
"You four retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by Cardin Winchester!"
The crowd applauded as the newly formed Team CRDL walked off the stage, making way for the next four individuals.
"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR."
Nora couldn't contain her excitement and wrapped her arms around Ren's neck while Jaune and Pyrrha smiled proudly.
"Led by...Jaune Arc!"
"Huh!?" Jaune exclaimed. "You...You mean me!? But I..."
"Congratulations, young man." Ozpin said before the boy could finish.
Pyrrha then gave the confused Jaune a playful punch to the arm, accidentally knocking him onto his bottom. "Sorry!" Pyrrha said quickly before smiling again.
Team JNPR walked off the stage. "And last but certainly not least." Ozpin continued as the final four students walked onto the stage.
"Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao-Long. You four retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY."
The four girls stood tall and proud. "Led by..."
"Please be me...Please be me...Please be me." Weiss thought. Weiss had always planned to become the leader of her own team.
Everyone knows that the most notable person on a Huntsmen team is the leader, and Weiss knew she was the obvious choice, especially since Arc of all people was made the leader of his team which was just a recipe for disaster in her opinion.
"Ruby Rose!"
...
...
...
"Huh!?" Ruby yelled out. Both Ruby and Weiss looked dumbstruck, Blake remained neutral, and Yang looked over the freaking moon.
Yang immediately ran to her sister to hug her. "Yeah! Team Leader Ruby! You're so amazing!"
"Yang! You're...crushing...me!" Ruby said while desperately trying to break out of her older sister's hold.
Weiss couldn't believe this! She trained herself to death for years, and they pick someone two years younger over her! This would not stand!
Weiss' fists clenched as she frowned deeply, she was about to snap when...she caught Ruby looking at her from Yang's arms. At that moment, most of Weiss' selfish anger disappeared...most of it.
The two partners looked each other in the eye, it was obvious to Weiss that Ruby was also unsure and was looking to her new teammate for reassurance.
"She may be a little naive, but she has spirit, and a good heart. That's why it's good that she has someone to support her." Blake's words played through the heiress' head.
Weiss could see the trust in Ruby's eyes. Despite everything that happened between them, Ruby truly believed that Weiss would support her all the way. That thought made Weiss feel...guilt? Wow, that's a feeling that she seldom had.
Weiss pushed her ego down and gave her partner a friendly smile as if to say. "You earned this." Ruby had shown some qualities of a leader.
If it weren't for her plan, who knows what might've happened. Weiss wasn't confident enough in herself to think that she could come up and execute a plan like that.
That smile seemed more than enough for Ruby who smiled back.
When she turned away, however, Weiss' smile slowly turned back into a frown. She was happy for Ruby, she really was.
But, she couldn't help but be resentful, if only a tiny bit. To say her feelings were mixed...was an understatement.
Ruby
-Later-
Dorms
"Let's see...Ah! Here we are!" Ruby announced as she and her team arrived at their new dorm room. She took out her scroll and put it into a scanner in the door to unlock it.
When they stepped in, they saw four beds evenly spread at the end of the room along with multiple bookshelves and desks. There was also a door on the left that led to a bathroom.
Ruby still couldn't believe it, she was a Beacon Academy student!
"Alright!" Yang exclaimed as she walked towards the bathroom. "Time to take a shower!" She then turned her head back and smirked.
"I'll go first, unless one of you lovely ladies want to join me. Wink, wink!" Yang flirted with two winks.
Everyone either ignored the blonde, or gave her an unamused look. "Yeesh, you guys really need to loosen up a bit." Yang said before turning back to the bathroom. "Whatever, your loss."
After Yang closed the door, everyone took a few minutes to look around. Ruby sat on her bed, taking in all that's happened so far. She couldn't help but wonder what was next.
"Hey, Ruby?" Ruby looked at Blake who was standing in front of her.
"Oh, hey Blake. What's up?"
Bonk!
"Oww! What the heck!?" Ruby rubbed her head after getting hit on the head for the fourth time today. "What was that for!?"
"Everyone else got to hit you on the head, I thought it would be weird if I was the only one on the team who didn't." Blake explained.
"WHAT KIND OF EXCUSE IS THAT!?" Ruby snapped.
Blake simply smiled. That's when Weiss, who was sitting on the bed next to Ruby's stepped in. "You know, I actually hit her twice." She said with a smirk.
Oh no...
The bathroom door opened to reveal a smiling Yang in her pajamas. "Oh, is that right? Well it doesn't seem fair that me and Blake only get one bonk."
Ruby paled as her teammates started to gather around her. "H-Hey guys...Let's just talk about this."
The four girls remained still until Yang lunged at her sister. "Wah!" Ruby yelled before using her Semblance to speed away.
"Get her!" Yang yelled before the three older girls chased their leader around the room.
"Girls! Come on! I'm the leader, you're supposed to treat me with respect!" Ruby cried out before Yang managed to catch Ruby off guard and hugged her tight.
"Oh, Ruby! You're so cute when you're terrified!" Yang exclaimed while nuzzling Ruby's cheek. "Now here comes the hammer!"
"NOOOOO!"
-Later-
"Aw! No fair, Weiss! I wanted to sleep next to Ruby!" Yang whined after seeing Weiss in bed.
Everyone had gotten a shower and were now in their pajamas getting ready for bed.
"Too bad, I want to be near the window and Blake took the third bed. I'm not going to move because you're as clingy as a puppy." Weiss shot back.
Yang pouted. "Fine!" Yang said before moving to Ruby's bed. Ruby, who was already under the covers and nursing the bump on her head, raised an eyebrow before Yang jumped into bed with her.
"Then me and Rubes will SHARE a bed!" Yang suggested with a wide grin.
"Oh no you don't!" Ruby yelled while trying to push Yang off of the bed. "Every time we slept in the same bed, I got bruises from you kicking me all the time! Not again!"
"Oh come on, sis! Have a heart!" Yang whined dramatically, trying poorly to sound heartbroken.
Blake smirked while Weiss rolled her eyes. After a short scuffle between sisters, everyone went to sleep, ready for whatever obstacles they'd face next.
Or so they thought...
Meanwhile, in an abandonedWarehouse
Roman Torchwick was staring at a map, a map with multiple markers and routes for Dust robberies. He was on the phone with his so-called "business partner."
She was not happy that he had been foiled by Little Red Riding Hood herself. Honestly, it wasn't his fault that hood henchmen were hard to come by nowadays.
After hanging up, he groaned and slammed his hands onto the nearest table. Then, he heard a growl behind him.
He turned to see a goon from the White Fang pushing a large cage towards him. In the darkness, one could only make out two yellow eyes with cat-like pupils along with pale skin and claws.
"Where are the rest?" Roman asked.
"The others are bringing them in." The grunt responded.
Torchwick adopted a menacing smile. "Good. Get the men ready. We'll wait for the next shipment of Dust to come in before we release our...distraction."
And with that, my long awaited chapter is complete!
I hope you guys enjoyed, I spent a lot of time on it. Again, I'm sorry it took so long.
Anyway, for those of you who haven't reread chapter 11, I introduced Ice Breathing. A breathing technique created by Weiss' sister, Winter.
Winter taught Weiss this technique to give her the edge over everyone else. Before you ask, yes, Winter does know about demons but has not told Weiss just yet.
Also, what's you think of that part with Ruby and Blake? I feel like that there's not that many moments between Ruby and Blake, but that might just be me.
I also made Weiss more mixed on the whole "Ruby is the leader" thing. I thought Ruby and Weiss already patched things up during the initiation. At least, that's how I felt the first time I watched it. I really didn't like how Weiss did a full 180 multiple times, but again, that's just me.
The chapter was getting a bit long since I really wanted to finish the Beacon Initiation, so sadly, there was no time for Final Selection.
But worry not! You'll be seeing a lot more of that side of the story from now on!
I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous about what people will think about this chapter. I added a lot of my own stuff to change it up a bit, but I don't know if my stuff was very good.
That's probably why I've been too afraid to change the canon part of the story. Please be honest about what you think of the chapter, I will not be upset if you think that it needs work, promise.
Anyway, I'll see you all next time! Bye!

We cut back to Team RWBY in the Emerald Forest celebrating their victory over the Nevermore. Specifically, Yang cheering about how awesome her sister is.
Yang: HELL YEAH! SUCK IT, BITCHES! I HAVE THE BEST LITTLE SISTER IN ALL OF REMNANT!
Meanwhile...
Tanjiro runs through the forest of Mt. Fujikasane before stopping. A tick mark appeared on his forehead and his face became irritated.
Tanjiro: Strange...Why am I so upset all of a sudden. It's almost like I've been challenged...
Tanjiro shakes his head before realizing that the readers were watching him.
Tanjiro: Oh! Hey, I didn't see you there!
Tanjiro smiled brightly.
Tanjiro: Unfortunately, I wasn't in this chapter, so to make up for it, I'll be going over the Taisho Era Secret myself. Speaking of...
Screen cuts to Tanjiro's face.
Tanjiro: Here's what I've got for you!
Tanjiro leans in closer.
Tanjiro: Like all other breathing techniques, Ice Breathing utilizes its own Slayer Semblance. It's called Freezing Touch, it allows an Ice Breathing user to freeze anything their sword touches. This includes the water molecules in the air, allowing one to summon giant piles of ice.
Tanjiro: Not only that, but the technique itself lowers your body temperature. This can help one cool off or even hide from heat-seeking technology. At the same time, your resistance to low temperatures increases with each usage. Isn't that handy!?
Cuts back to Tanjiro in the forest.
