*IMPORTANT, WARNING THIS CHAPTER IS AN 'M' RATING FOR GORE*

Well then…. Welcome back readers, I put extra effort into this chapter. It.. it should hurt, I know hurt to write after all. We are back where this story first began, Touma has been stabbed. Special thanks to Pixle-Power, CaptainHelix, and Dragonrails on discord for their help and input on this chapter. I won't lie, this chapter ain't gonna be at all feel good. Some of you, may have predicted what's gonna happen. I did leave many hints, some possibly too blatant. For those of you who may not be prepared, like the warning above says… this chapter would be rated 'M' for the gore I suspect. I hope this doesn't force me to change the whole pic's rating to 'M' however. Anyways, lets get with those reviews.

Tommthecommie:{Ah… another comrad, tom well Index is a modern nun she understand that there are different values outside the church. ;)

Muirenn's dark-skinned… she wears a hoodie'd coat made using seal fur. I did describe her in the earlier chapters.

Yes we have wrapped back around to the first pages.}

Whwsms:{You ever see mega-mind? Take Hal from that… who's already an incel taken to an 11, and turn him up another 11… that's Ainmire XD

Yess… burn with anticipation, let the suspense flow through you!}

5had0wHand:{yes…. yes… HATE MEEEE! HATE ME FOR MY CRUEL CLIFF-HANGERS!

Indeed it's absolutely that scene… or the start of it at least.

Without a fucking doubt that is basically Ainmire in a fucking nutshell

Touma doesn't 'deserve' everything but he certainly has done more for it than Ainmire and unlike him Touma understands you can't earn the shit Ainmire was trying to earn. And yeah… Ainmire can't compare to Touma's mad life

This is something I feel many people don't quite get but is very much something Touma showcases. He's a shield and he won't let anyone else get damaged. And absolutely Ainmire would get fucking wrecked by NT9, and the whole 'chosen by the gods'? It's really that he inherited the branch….}

Fencer29:{he seriously does… maybe he will… a very… very chill pill if you know what I mean.

Really not sure anyone would willingly take on Kamisato's responsibility… or that any o them would willingly leave the guy. If anything they'd take his words as an insult and murder him.

Have toxically masculine people ever been very logical? Like I sai to Whwsms dude's basically Hal from Megamind}

Guest:{Actually I checked multiple times using multiple sites and even Celtic focused ones… It's actually Gae-buide. The yellow spear that prices with death and who's wounds shall never heal. As for the PTSD, I'm sorry you found it dumb and that you felt it ruined the moment.

However it was meant to happen, and I did set it up before, Touma had merely suppressed the PTSD for the time being, it was always gonna pop up. And each one I tried to correlate to a trigger.

After all Touma should always remember that, his misfortune never goes away.

I'd have preferred you told me how to *improve* instead of just saying what went wrong. However, that you for your criticism anyways, I'll work to Improve on such things in the future.}

With that out of the way, remember this chapter is rated 'M' due to gore. I cannot stop you from continuing, but you have been warned. Those of squeamish demeanor may want to skim over certain parts.

Let this tale of an Infinity commence once more

Chapter 32

Hunger in the Library

Cold, that's the first thing Kamijou felt when the spear ran him through. He felt limp, his limbs wouldn't move. The Adrenaline rush had passed and his body was too injured and fatigued to move. He could see but he didn't register anything as he found himself falling backwards.

He thought he could hear shouts but his mind wasn't focused on it. No, there was something else he had on his mind as his understander's eye filled with tears and she shouted. Instead his thoughts turned to the reminder on his phone. 'I haven't been able to fulfill my promise to find a way to remember that person.' His understander clinging to him as time seemed to slow. 'Ah… right, Othinus, don't let Index lose herself in her hatred of you. Please, take care of her for me' He thought as he felt his vision fade.

And then?

Everything went black.

...

Index ran forward to Touma's body as Ainmire blinked and uncovered his face. Pushing Touma off his spear and it fell to the ground. Rolling to a stop a meter away from Ainmire.

"Touumaaaaa!" she cried out her heart aching in cold pain! She heard similar shouts from all around.

"Kamijou!" Kanzaki shouted and stumbled falling to her knees slamming her sword into the ground. Reaching out tears filling her eyes as she slumped forward.

"I-Idiot!? H-hey Id… heh this isn't real… yeah… no it's all a nightmare" Misaka froze as she swayed from side to side, a blank look on her face.

"Kamijou-san!" Cried out Itsuwa as she fell to her hands and knees. Trembling in rage and grief.

"Kamijou-kun?" Arisa whispered in disbelief as she fell back in Shutarua's body.

"Kamijou!?" Galistic tripped over herself as she looked on in horror.

Boabhan Sith seemed unable to speak as she held her hands to her mouth in horror.

"Toumaaaaaaaaa!" Muireann's scream was combined with agony as she rapidly began to freeze as the binding rune glowed sinisterly. The shock of Touma's death and the cold forcing her wide awake.

Index stumbled and fell crawling her way just over to Touma's dying body as she panicked.

"Oh.. was that all!? Ehehe… Thats what you get for fucking messing with me you false hero!" Anmire's unstable laugh turned into a smug shout of triumph as he kicked Touma's body.

Stiyl Shouted an indifferent look on his face as his rune cards filled the area "INNOCENTUS!"

Ainmire just grinned and said "Order of Nuada… KNEEL!"

Instantly everyone who was still fighting found themselves unable to fight back and fell to their knees.

Index knew what he had done, Nuada was a celtic godlike being who made fair laws that all followed. However Ainmire had twisted it so that any order he gave was to be followed. As it was 'fair' in the eyes of Ainmire.

"Ah now that I've slain the Imagine Breaker I have nothing to worry from you side-characters. And I can take the final piece I need to be able to collect my reward" Ainmire said as he turned towards Index.

Index's eyes filled with tears as she knelt next to Touma. The blood was spreading over the broken earth and he was dying. There was nothing she could do to stop it. Her white and gold habit was stained crimson by his blood.

"Touma… Touma! No, no please don't die, please, get up Touma!"

Index wailed. tears ran down her face, her silver blue hair dipping into the growing pool of blood, her small body trembling. She looked at the boy, his black spiky hair ruffled, his red scarf, black hoodie, and dark jeans torn and battered, his eyes closed and teeth gritted in pain, and a dark red hole in his chest where his heart should be.

"Well, that still could have gone better. But now that he's dead you're coming with me, Index Librium Prohibitorum," Ainmire Anlon said, wiping the blood off of Gae Buide. "Don't bother waiting for him to get up. No matter how quickly he heals normally, that wound will never heal you know that".

Index grit her teeth in despair. She knew he was right. Her thoughts raced as Ainmire began to casually walk towards her. 'If only I was allowed to use magic… but, even with the collar gone, if I try to refine any mana the church will put me down under the order of the archbishop Lola-' she then paused realizing something.

'Lola Stuart was the one who made that threat, and she was revealed to be Coronzon. So who would enforce the order of a demon?' At the thought of that revelation, she bit her lip to stay focused.

'And after Windsor castle, the collar was completely destroyed. So, is there really anything that is holding me back right now? That's right! It's nothing! Nothing is holding me back, why didn't I realize this earlier?! This means I can use all the magic at my disposal.' She quickly glanced at the spiky-haired boy. 'I can save him!' In that very moment Index's eyes flashed towards Othinus.

Out of all her options, the ex-magic god was their only chance to survive. She could use her, She could use her ties to the Norse mythology to create something very specific.

She looked around her.

The sky is engulfed in darkness, the sun and moon were out of sight. And the city lights blotted out the stars. The earth had already shook three times, unlocking the path to salvation.

Not only would this save Touma... It would also strike the dreadful magic god of deception with it... After all, wouldn't she accept her sacrifice if it was to save Touma? Wouldn't she accept. . . Ragnarok?

...

The world faded around Othinus as she clung to her understander's dying body. It just didn't seem real to her. 'Human?' she thought in disbelief.

She saw the look in his eyes, as the life faded from them. Her own body felt cold as time slowed for her. His chest a gaping hole, blood pouring out. The visual was one she had seen many times. But she couldn't quite accept it now.

Kamijou's body hit the ground and threw her off. Landing less than a meter away from his body Othinus rushed back over to him. Nudging his body "Touma? Touma, Touma! Come on…. Get.. get up! You wouldn't die from something like this… right? Touma… Hu-man?" She said with a broken smile, unable to face the truth. But there was no response, no pulse, and his body was cooling.

Her eye filled with tears as the smile fully broke and she began sobbing "No no no no no no! don't Leave me like this understander! Don't you die on me! not after all you've been through! You're not allowed to leave me! I Odin command your soul! Don't you dare die!" She desperately shouted, climbing onto his body.

There were shouts and more all around her but none of it mattered. There was only one thing that mattered to her. And that was her understander Kamijou Touma, who was dying.

Climbing up to his face she shook his collar as she continued to shout "You can't just die on me like this Touma! I'm not ready to live without you!" Her arms went slack as she stopped attempting to shake him and fell to her knees in defeat. "there's no one else in this world that understands me! There's…. No worth in this world without you… Touma" Othinus bawled as she clung to her dying understander's shirt's collar, her face pressed against him as her one eye had tears streaming down it. "I can't take care of her for you, I'm not you.. I don't have enough humanity left in me. Without you I" her voice caught as she felt her heart squeeze "I-I'm not… I'm not ready to live without you." she repeated whimpering.

A shadow passed over her and she looked up to see Index's hand reach towards her. Her face was shadowed and her eyes glowed coldy, and they held a precise intent. She was smiling slightly, cruelly as she revealed her teeth. Othinus's eye Widened in horrific realization as she tried to escape but Index's hand caught her.

Othinus recognize the mana flow within Index and realized what she was about to attempt. The time was right, Fenrir would consume the one eyed god.

...

Index snatched the war god up with her hand and brought her to her face. The fear in her eyes stirred something inside Index. The pathetic struggles of Odin merely made that something grow. That something was a hunger, a ravenous hunger.

She obviously had no care for Touma. Obviously she only cared about her own life. Obviously if she truly cared for Touma she would willingly give herself to Index. Affirming her belief, Index opened her mouth to welcome the god.

As she closed it around Othinus, the betrayal god tried to make a pathetic plea. "Please Index don't do this I must save Tou-" But she never got to finish her foolish attempt at deception.

Index bit down and Othinus's muffled scream came from her mouth. But Index didn't care, it was all a ruse. Othinus was trying to deceive her of course she was. It couldn't have been anything else. 'I'll use the myth of Fenrir as a base by consuming Othinus, 'The' Odin and using the god eating aspect to branch out. I can then amass as much power as I need.' A pleasing salty iron taste filled Index's mouth as she felt the betrayal god struggle violently.

...

Othinus cried out in pain, it hurt, It hurt! Her leg was carved through and the bone was snapped. Blood streamed out as she screamed. Tears streamed down her face as she slammed her fists on the roof of Index's unforgiving mouth. Desperate to be let out, she could feel herself hyperventilating fear filled her very being.

"Please listen to me!" she shouted as she clung to Index's tongue with one arm. "I know I deserve this, I know I've earned your hate. I know what I've done is horrible and that I don't deserve forgiveness. But! Please just listen and understand me. I'm sorry, let me have a second chance!" She knew it was likely pointless, but she had to try.

But Index ignored her plea, Othinus didn't blame her. She couldn't blame her but the fear in her swelled as she was pushed straight into the line of Index's sharp Canine

...

She wouldn't admit it out loud, but Index reveled in the god's pain. 'This is what you get for your Treatment of Touma you lying deceitful bitch of a pagan god!' Dark glee filled her as she heard the war god cry for her to let her have a second chance. Had she ever given Touma a chance when she tortured and murdered him? Index doubted it, she never gave any of her family second chances. So why would she give one to someone she didn't know? so she smiled as she rolled the god over to her canines.

'I'll use you to enact the myth of Fenrir, Skoll, then Hati. Then I'll use that to branch out further to Kronos, Queztoquottle and all the myths beyond. I'll use that to assimilate the power from others and make it my own. I'll become a God eater. A great Devourer! And you're the first I'll consume!' Index's dark thoughts grew along with her hunger as mana began to fill her being. And she bit down once more.

...

Othinus's heart beat out of control as she felt the fear of being eaten alive fill her. But worse was the despair that filled her at the thought that she'd never see her Understander again. "Please don't do this! I don't want to die! Not yet! Not when my Understander is dying before me! Just give me a second chance to make things right!" she cried out, but her only answer was another spike of pain as her stomach was punctured by Index's Canine. Her cruelty making itself know, her unforgiving vengeance made true.

Othinus understood Index's reasons, she had every right to punish her like this. Othinus didn't blame Index, but it wouldn't stop the pain of betrayal she felt. Othinus wanted Index to like her, she wanted Index to care for her. She had liked their banter, their little family, her, Touma and Index. She did her best to struggle as her own blood and guts were splattered all over her body. Index's teeth were stained crimson like a beasts, Othinus's blood flowing toward the back.

The primal fear of death filled Othinus, but then a greater fear manifested. Index wouldn't just kill her, no. Index would consume her very soul she'd cease to be, everything she was, gone.

"Index! Please! Don't eat me! I don't want to go… I don't want to go, not when my Understander needs to be saved." Othinus's pleads were ignored however and Othinus found herself being pushed backwards directly towards the gaping mocking abyss that would lead to her ultimate fina, demise.

...

Skoll and Hatie ate the sun and moon, and on the battlefield of Ragnarok Fenrir swallowed Odin whole.

Index ignored the last protest of the death god as their struggles became limp. Feeling her sobs and cries as she made a last pathetic attempt to convince Index to let her out. Index swallowed.

...

Othinus fell silent as she found herself in the black depths of Index. It burned, it sizzled and tore at her insides. It was almost like it was mocking her, laughing at her for ever thinking she'd be forgive. For ever believing she could be allowed love. Alone with her thoughts Othinus felt the tears continue to pour down her face as she felt her already injured leg dissolve exceedingly quickly. 'I loved our little family, I loved how My Understander would get up in the morning and make us breakfast. I loved the smile on your face when he'd place a plate before you. I loved the smile on his face as you stuffed your face silly. I loved how he'd pat my head before going to school. I loved how he'd react when he found out I snuck in with him. I loved how you'd pout when you found out. I loved how we'd tease each other and laugh about it. Heck I loved that stupid cat despite how it would torment me. I… I loved our normal dysfunctional little family. So why…. Why Index!? Why would you….' Othinus cried one final time before she closed her eyes as feeling faded from her burning body.

...

As soon as Index felt the last of the foolish God of death's soul get broken down and absorbed into her own. Everything that had made the one named Othinus. Her history, he mind, her memories and skills, all of it. She proceeded to use it in order to build upon herself, from Fenrir she branched out to Skoll, and Hatti. Then by taking that imagery of God eaters She branched out to Kronos the titan. By Using the Imagery of entities that consume celestial bodies she branched out to Quetzalcoatl then by combining the imagery of God eaters with God killers. She created a new image within herself, A eater of Creation itself, a great devourer. She just needed to complete the ritual and release it into the world.

Ainmire reached out to grab Index but her hand lashed out. She drained his soul at a touch as his eyes widened in fear and horror.

He struggled and tugged, unable to escape, he stared pleadingly but his pathetic attempts did nothing. Panicked, he shouted "You.. Shouldn't be able to refine mana so ho-" however, before he could finish, he collapsed.

His soul, stripped from him and was absorbed into Index's own. Another soul added to the Library. But it wasn't enough to satiate her ever growing hunger. She needed to complete the ritual.

"You hurt Touma, so you need to go." Index looked down on the lifeless body of Ainmire coldly with no emotion. "Anyone who threatens Touma needs to go." She then turned over to Touma's dead body "Touma I won't let you die even if I must destroy the very world we live in, I can't bear a world without you."

"Index! No!" Kanzaki shouted and Stiyl's eyes went wide as Index raised her hand to the sky.

Smiling Index made a declaration "I won't let you die Touma! I'll protect you, I'll protect you from everyone! From the world itself, I'll protect you for as long as I live!" A distorted spear of reality appeared in the sky. And pierced straight through Index's chest.

...

The sky shook and the world trembled. The ritual was completely a new god was born. One not bound to any one religion, one not bound to any one story. A Great Devourer, one who would consume all.

...

In the phase of shifted time, the gods stopped in their play as fear filled their bodies.

...

In the countryside of England, an Egyptian goddess and a Xaing-shi froze in horror.

...

In the abyss at the bottom of the Qliphoth, an entity that called itself an Angel mused to itself. "This is an intriguing development, Imagine Breaker how will you deal with this?"

...

The spear of distorted reality compressed and was sucked into Index. And she opened her eyes, no more were they green. Her eyes had become a deep cosmic purple. Hunger filled her entire being she needed to eat more. But she also had someone to save. Someone to protect, She turned to Touma's dead body and bent down. She lifted his head and kissed him. The world shuddered as a rift formed between her lips and Touma, a black all consuming void which expanded out, pulling in Touma and everything around him.

Until all he would see, was black.

Well, that was a ride wasn't it? Now we've reached the new part of the story, the library has opened and It's first gods have been admitted. I hope the explanations hold up and that this chapter sparks some interesting thoughts and theories. Please tell me if you felt I could have improved on this chapter.

Now… It's about time we learned more about the fey personally…. Don't you agree?
