You all still here? Good to see! I hope last chap didn't put you off. Believe me it hurt more to write than it likely did you to read. I mean… I did kill off my favorite character after all. Anyways this chapter is one I'm… less proud of. I feel it definitely could be improved but I'm not sure how. Something feels off but I can't pin down what, If you guys got any suggestions feel free to tell me. Anyways onto revieeeewwssss!
Whwsms:{It was something I wanted to see for a while OP Index, though her snapping was just something that… happened. The progression oddly naturally lent itself to it. Considering the fact part of this idea came from me jokingly comparing Index to a literal mod-boss from Terraria Calamity called the 'Devourer of Gods' whom supposedly if it wasn't killed by the player would become the 'Devourer of Universes?' Yeah maybe the whole universe is in deep shiz. It's undoubtably Aiwass, Coronzon is an Angel who's called a demon. Aiwass is a demon who calls itself an Angel.}
tommthecommie:{Indeed she appears to be comrade!
Kinda the point of this fic to give Index a bigger role than she has in the main canon story.
It may be but I'm not sure It's as best as I remember at least
It's not just a deadly sin… it's the most deadly sin.
indeed… r…RIP Othi… gahhhh that hurt to write why am I soo cruel to myself!?}
5had0wHand:{the table just keeps turning doesn't it?
That was exactly how I wanted you to feel, glad I got it!
I mean…. Touma still has his hand….
You will see… you will see
No, I made it pretty clear Othinus ain't just dead. Her soul was broken down and absorbed into Index's own. Not very easy for even a god to come back from that.
Whoah Dude! That's Praise I can't possible accept no damn way could I ever reach that level.
Seethe Seeth cope cope…
Yeah, you'll see what bullshit he's been dealing with eventually. Trust me, It's not fun for him either.
Lets not get too drastic…. The bathtub still survived her wrath.}
DarkMatter69:{Yep… that's the reaction I was expecting and hoping for. Means that I did good with it, cause it hurt me too man. It's just… It had to happen and I knew it. And I wasn't gonna let this be only a sub-par story.}
AngalaconTheBlack:{A new face in the reviews? Thank you for your kind words. I don't know anything about Oedipus however I'm assuming it's used as a comparison of good tragedy's. Which makes me proud that I did so well. It's precisely what I was going for with last chapter. The tragedy between Index and Othinus. You know that Othinus had changed and want Index to Stop but you also understand and get Index's reasons for it.
When I wrote this fic, I knew I wanted Index to be the main focus. And the fact it hits the wyr it did for you makes me know I did exactly what I set out to do. The dark path I took her down was one which when I began it, I didn't realize just how far It'd go. But I also realized was something that just worked. It felt natural and right, like it was meant to be.
Yep.. it hurt believe the guy who wrote it, Othinus is one of my favorite characters. I knew I had make her death as tragic as I could. So I did
Yep, one moment he's all pompous and overbearing the next… *thud!* just like he did to others. No fanfare, no struggle, just drops dead}
Guest:{No worries I noticed there were like… 3 with very similar names. I'd say she's less Thinking and more feeling right now.}
Mr?:{the man, the myth, the legend himself!… Sorry that the gore did not live up to your expectations… any more detail an I'm pretty sure I'd be unable to read it XD.
Well, Index eating gods was indeed always the plan, however Othinus in specific was one that I did because I realized I needed a method for Index to ascend to god hood as the devourer. And then I realized, I had the perfect way to do it.
I'm not Kamachi, I may love Othinus but I knew that I had to kill her off once I thought of it. The way it would effect Touma and Index were things I can't pass up on. No, there will be no resurrection for Othinus in this fic. I made it pretty clear she's more than just plain dead. Her soul and mind were broken down and absorbed by Index. Good luck coming back from that! And I knew once I had decided to kill Othinus off that I had to foreshadow it lots. Glad you notice that.
Though, you really think I could kill off Muireann… Now!? I may be cruel… but there are some lines I will not cross}
Last chapter I put a lot of work into so I'm glad to see all the reviews are this positive about it. I wanted to give a particular feeling and get a certain reaction. And It looks like I succeeded in it, Now then… It's around time we turn back the clock don't you think? And watch this tale of an infinity unfold once again.
Chapter 33
Memories of the past
Ireland 10 years ago
A young girl around five to six years of age ran across a small beach near Belfast, she chased a ball that was rolling along the shore. She had short blackish brown hair, storm grey eyes, and dark skin. An older man stood a little ways behind her smiling fondly. He had black hair and storm grey eyes, but his skin was of european tone. Off to the side a dark skinned woman with brown hair and green eyes. Laughed lovingly as she watched the two.
"Oi Look at ya t'o, stop teas'in our poor litta Muireann, Taranis." the woman said in a scottish accent. She wore a casual outfit consisting of a pale blue long sleeved shirt. A pair of long white dress pants, and long gray skirt. A pair of sandals covered her feet as she sat with her legs to the side.
"Sorry Caoimhe, her pouting face is just adorable wouldn't you agree?" the man said. He also wore a casual outfit consisting of a blue t-shirt and jeans.
The young Muireann came running back with a pout on her face as she brought the ball. "Daaaad ya know I coun't catch that!" She moaned, stamping her foot on the dark sand.
Her mother Caoimhe Iona began to laugh again "Ay see what ya mean, she is adorable when sh'e pouts. But do'n tease her too much, sh'e might start do'in it to the boys at school."
The man, Muireann's father Taranis Conan, made a face of mocked horror. "No, we can't be having that, She'd break all their hearts!" before laughing.
"Mooom Daaad! Why ar'e ya laughin at meh" Muireann cried a little as she tugged on her dad's shirt.
Her father's large hand reached down and patted her on the head ruffling her hair. "I'm sorry Muireann, your pout was too cute to resist." He said hugging her, Muireann smiled a little.
"Okay, Ay think that's enough of the beach fo now dontchya?" Caoimhe said as she got up and shook the sand off her outfit. "Ya father might end up being unable to resist taken a dip otherwise." She teased her husband who scratched the back of his head.
"Ow, dear you know I can't do that, not after I gave you my coat you know." He went over Muireann following behind and kissed his wife on the cheek. "But It's only a few more years before Muireann needs to be given hers."
Caoimhe smiled at Taranis as they stood on either side of Muireann holding her hands. "Indeed" she frowned a moment "ay'm worried though honey"
Muireann looked up to her mother and tilted her head. "Dad! What do ya mean about meh gettan a coat? Don't Ay already have one?" she asked.
Taranis smiled at his daughter "we'll tell you when we get home my fair little sea-wolf" He said as he glanced at his wife. 'She is right though, every day we risk being found out about one of the magic side organizations. I can't let either of them be dragged into that world. So I'll protect them' he thought
Caoimhe having similar thoughts 'I can't let my husband or daughter be found by the magic side organizations. I can't let them be dragged into that world, I must protect them.'
...
As time passed and Muireann grew, her father worked in the city as a fisherman. And her mother worked as a writer.
However both would also work in secret without the other's knowledge. The mother would scrower the web and library. Searching for a way to protect her family from groups like Necessarius. She would work in a secret workshop of hers attempting to perfect a pair of spiritual Items.
Her father would use the excuse of long fishing days to visit old Viking raid routes. Seeking out rune stones and more in an attempt to learn their power. He'd visit old smithing homes to hear of their techniques. Creating his own secret forge off the coast of scotland. In an attempt to make his own spiritual Item.
On her tenth birthday her father presented her a gift that he and her mother had worked on for years.
"Mah mah dear, is that the Selkie coat we've been working on?" His wife giggled knowing that it indeed was "What ya gonna do if your daughter ends up los-en it to some boy she teased in class?"
Her father's eye twitched slightly "I'll kill them if they touch a hair on her but, If they treat her well I'll merely keep an eye on them. Remember Muireann Never give this to anyone, It's yours and yours alone." he smiled as he handed her the item in his hands.
It was a Fur coat with a similar design to her father's; Muireann felt an odd pull to it. But she asked her father something. "But dad, ya gave yours ta mom"
Her father laughed, "Well, that was an exception, I fell in love with her and I gave her my coat as a sign of my devotion to her. We used pieces from it to make this one for you." her father gave a compassionate smile to her. "If you find someone who is just right for you, someone who fills that missing piece in you. Then and only then should you offer up your coat. Make sure they make you happy, Muireann, and do everything you can to keep them safe.".
...
It wasn't long after that when her parents' worst fears came to fruition. A Anglican magician tracked them down, destroyed their home and confronted them.
Her Mother and father stood in front of her both holding magic items. Much to the other's dismay. Neither had wanted the other to fall into the world of magic. But they both did, all to protect their family.
Her Mother held two Ivory poles designed like skinless arms, the hands holding steel daggers. Her Father held a Large bladed sword with runes carved into it.
"Leave us Alone! What could we a've done for ya to attack us!" Shouted Caoimhe her two spiritual Items causing the plants around her to wilt.
Tanaris held his sword in front of him in a European stance. "Why did you attack us!?" he asked the magician.
The anglican sighed and shook their head "A woman who is using spiritual Items based on the Nuckelavee. And a Selkie who utilizes norse magic connected to Sidgur. And you wonder why we attacked? You two created powerful magic items and wonder why we saw that as a threat? Not only that but, your husband is an honest to god Selkie. You two present a threat, however that wasn't the main reason" the magician Looked at them while spinning a spiritual Item in their hand.
"You both stole magic knowledge in order to create these Items." they said before pointing their spiritual Item towards the family.
Both Muireann's parents stood in the way to make sure she wouldn't get hit. Taranis then spoke "We only did that to protect our family. You already would have killed us even if we hadn't taken that magic knowledge. Not like you would leave an actual fey of Tir-nall alive. You already hunted us down in the past."
"We won't bothar ya, we just wan't ta live ain peace!" her mother shouted. "How bout we make a deal!" she suggested.
"Caoimhe! What are you doing!?" Taranis said shocked.
"Trust me Taranis!" Caoimhe responded.
Muireann looked on in fear as her heart raced 'a-Ay wish Ay could do something! Mom, dad! What do Ay do!?' she thought.
The Angican raised an eyebrow "Depends on the deal, but I'm listening… Caoimhe Iona" this caused Muireann's mother to smile.
"Ya let our daughter live a normal life, but in return me and mah husband will work for ya. Got it?" Her mother offered.
Taranis gritted his teeth "I trust you know what you're doing dear." he said.
The Anglican frowned "And how do we know you'll honor your part of the deal?" they asked
Her mother's grin widened "Simple, Honey?"
Taranis sighed "We'll perform a binding pact, and If either side of it dishonors their side of the agreement. The punishment will be severe, does that work for you?"
The anglican thought a moment "All this for your daughter?" he asked
"Absolutely" her parents said without hesitation
The Anglican sighed "I'll need to clear it up with my superiors but It sounds reasonable"
...
Soon after Muireann's parents were put under contract with the Anglicans. All so their daughter could live a normal life. Her parents had done multiple jobs for them specifically, they had done stuff for Necessarius.
In the process they had been able to replace and improve their techniques. Her mother's old spiritual Items were replaced with ones that were closer to the image they were calling upon. The two Steel daggers that they once held were put in a small chest.
Her father's old Gramr replica was hung on the wall in its sheath as a memento.
Then shortly before world war three Muireann was unable to sleep and she overheard her parents.
"Damn it! Why?" her father said, they had moved from their home in Ireland back to scotland where her mother and father met. "They want both of us!?"
"We never should have made that agreement, Ay-Ay'm sorry dear." her mother said.
She heard her father sag into a chair. "It's not your fault, you made the logical decision. At least, at least they let our daughter live the life they promised they would."
Her mother sighed "who's gonna watch over our daughter while we're gone though? No doubt the Anglican would try to offer just so they could spy on her." Muireann had never heard her mother sound so... angry. She sounded steady, but Muireann could tell. There was a stiffness to it.
"I think, I know someone and I trust her to watch over our daughter." her father said almost, Sadly.
"I would ask who this woman is dear, but based on the way you brought her up. She's like you isn't she?" Her mother sounded stern at first but her tone became soft.
Muireann heard her father shift in his seat "She's not a Selkie, but she is a fey if that's what you mean. I'll have to ask her to refrain from hitting on our daughter though"
Muireann quickly made her way back to her room and went to sleep the next day. Her parents introduced her to someone.
"Ya, father and I need ta go for a while, Muireann. So she'll take care of ya, she's an old friend of ya father's." Her mother said as her father hugged her crying.
"Don't let no random boy hit on you Muireann. And definitely don't let anyone take that coat from you." Her father was bawling.
Her mother picked a small chest from off the ground and handed it to the person they were leaving Muireann with. "Take this, if we don't come back, please give them to Murieann."
Muirean looked towards the person her mother was facing
She looked like a girl of similar age to Muireann which confused her. But she was almost enchantingly beautiful. The girl reached out her delicate hand for Muireann to shake. "Muireann, It's a pleasure to meet you love, my name is Celt, Celt Eislyn"
…
England; Celtic phase a little before WWIII
Galistic didn't know when or what it was that happened. But at one point, she was one of four siblings. They all shared a general purpose to warn off the unfaithful. Her 3 sisters loved to tease and taunt unfaithful men. However they prefer not to need to kill them.
As time had passed they grew tired of it, well her sisters that is. Galistic never really partook in it, she found the activity a bit odd. She'd only nip the neck of someone she liked. So she often would be the last to enter the room when her sisters had taken a 'partner'.
Luckily it also became easier to do their job of warning off the unfaithful. Men became… easier to scare so to speak. Merely the four sisters showing up would cause them to either fight back or take off.
They were entities of the 4 heavily interconnected cultures in europe. Possible why there were four of them.
Her and Baobhan Sith were sometimes mixed up, heck all of them were often mixed up. But for different reasons. Baobhan Sith's deer hooves often were confused with Galistic's goat hooves for example.
They were in the living room of Galistic's home in Somerset. To her right sat Baobhan Sith who was holding a handheld gaming device. How she got it, Galistic didn't know. But she didn't mind, after all, she got all of them one. To Galistic's left was her other two sisters.
One of them, often also called Baobhan Sith but preferred to be called Carmillia Dracul. She wore a black feathered hoodie over her to hide her large Raven wings. She was lying forward on her stomach while on a sofa. She had red irises and her nails were slightly sharp. Out of them she was the most influenced by christian belief. In other words, she was the closest to a succubus/vampire among them. In her hands was a remote control to the console they had.
The fourth of them went by the name Huldra Hylda. She had a bit of a temper but she was actually fairly kind. She had long gold hair, brown eyes and a slender figure. A cow's tail swayed back and forth from her rear as she stroked a photo.
Looking up from her game Carmillia spoke to Huldra "Are you Still, not over him? Huldi?"
"Now then Carmillia dear sister, this one was especially rough on her." Baohban Sith said. Her forehead was wrinkled in concentration as she bit her lip focusing on her game.
"Yeah yeah I get Baohban, but this is what, her 40th ex? She really needs better taste in men." Carmillia said her large Raven wings fluttered slightly.
Huldra glared at her sniffling "He was the one though! I could feel it!" tears were forming in her eyes.
"Oi Stop bulling poor Huldi, Carmi!" Galistic said as she managed a three way combo in the game she was playing.
"Just saying Galis-sis, If she hadn't kidnapped the poor guy and threatened every girl who talked to him. Maybe he wouldn't be calling her a demon-hag… like all the others did." Carmillia said, rolling her eyes.
"But im noot! Im not ugly!" Huldra cried out.
"Your temper surely is though Huldra dear sister" Baobhan commented as she appeared to mash one of the buttons on her gaming device.
Huldra was about to break down, so Galistic changed the subject. "Say what did you guys make of what happened a few days ago?" She asked.
Carmillia's Raven wings twitched "You mean the telesma and….. Shuddering that happened?"
Galistic tilted her head and shuffled her hooves. "Not exactly how I'd describe it but yeah!"
Huldra's sniffling quieted down and she spoke up. "It felt like the entirety of this country was temporarily cut off from the outside world. I was stuck wandering around near Stavanger in Norway after I found myself there."
"Huh! I was wondering where you went" Galistic responded "but no, there was more to it than that I feel"
Baobhan Sith then piped in "I think you mean how the Curtana was found and wielded by a royal. They were attempting to make the British commonwealth truly independent from what I gathered. That however meant they would be cutting ties with non-english nations such as scandinavia."
Carmillia nodded as she looked at her game, she just managed to beat a fairly hard boss and was kicking her legs happily. "Yeah! They were wielding the power of Michael and everything. Honestly sucks, because of the whole christian influence I've been turned to this. Means stuff like that really hurts when it happens." She swayed side to side as she played.
Galistic looked suspiciously at Baobhan "How do you know all of that sis?"
"I have my ways dear sister" Baobhan giggled.
It wasn't long after their conversation there when something happened in early november.
...
"AHHHHHHHHHH GAHHHHHH IT FLIPPING BURNS!" The sky was golden as the phases were shifted around. The phase of heaven bled into their phase as energy was stripped out from it. Carmillia was on the ground writhing in agony as the telesma filled air burned her.
"Darn it! Carmillia! What do we do sis!?" Galistic shouted as she tried to lift Carmillia off the ground.
"I-I- I don't know Galistic, whoever is doing this probably has no clue it's affecting us." Baobhan Sith spoke shakily as she desperately tried to help her sister.
"Darn christiaaaaannnssss!" Shouted Huldra as her form bulked out and she shifted into a half-cow half-giant beast. Her mouth foamed in rage as she tore a tree out of the ground and threw it.
"Damn it! Now Huldra's been ticked off! I swear the first time the monks showed up she killed like three separate emissary groups before she calmed down."
Huldra was about to go on a rampage when something roared. A pulse of massive energy shook the foundation of creation. Carmillia's eyes were wide and her screaming stopped. The Telesma had been cut out of their world and the gold sky began to fade.
"What in the name of Tir-nall was that?" Galistic shouted. Huldra frozen in mid rage as she began to revert to normal. And Baobhan's eyes were wide in shock.
"I have no… clue" she said.
...
In late november they felt the world shake. A familiar conquering presence had reclaimed an old power. But it faded shortly after it became known.
After that it wasn't until a ways into December that something devastating was felt.
"The gods… they're gone?" Galistic muttered, her and her sisters were hanging in a bar in London. They all felt it, all the fey in the area felt it. A Barguest who.. Fittingly was in the bar, had dropped his jug of beer. And Galistic's sisters were all shaking slightly
"Y-Yeah" Carmillia muttered, afterwards they stayed silent.
...
A week or so later they were wandering London when they overheard some males in a bar they frequented.
"Damn though, I do wish I had a cute chick to share my drink with." One, a teenager said.
"Heh with all the crazy shit that's been happening. I'd at least want to get laid before I die" Another said.
"Hell yeah dude! If a beautiful girl came in right now and asked to chat with me. I'd totally take her home." A third shouted.
"Dude you have a girlfriend, leave some for us!" a fourth teased.
"Oh please dude, we've gotten distant, damn bitch has been fawning over the guy who defeated the rebelling Princess you know." The third complained.
The four sisters turned to each other smiling. "Looks like we'll be having fun dear sisters. Time to teach these unfaithful, a little lesson about making such wishes." Baobhan said grinning sadistically.
They entered the bar, it seemed much grittier than it was the day before. But they paid it no heed, they had a few unfaithful boys to mess with.
A shockwave was sent through the building and the three boys snapped their heads up to the sound.
"Aw fuck is that?" the first said
"Guess were all going home then" the second said
"No way in hell am I getting caught up in whatever incident this is" the third said.
"I'm betting it's a lovecraftian army" the fourth said as they got up to leave
As they passed the four sisters one of them said "Damn it! Now of all times!?" before exiting.
The now curious sisters stepped out the door, what they saw was the entire city encased in a massive magical barrier.
"What is" Galistic muttered in Awe
"It's Beautiful" Huldra said.
"It's deadly" murmured Carmillia.
"A multi-layered barrier?" Baobhan noted.
Above them was what looked like an arora but most certainly was not. A few hours after it had gone up it vanished and the city was swarmed by, like the one boy from the bar had predicted, a Lovecraftian army.
"What in the christian hell even are these things!?" Galistic said as she Vaulted over one that looked like a twisted almost dinosaur T-rex with massive tentacles as legs and large angelic wings. Toxic fluid poured out onto the ground around it and killed all organic life around it.
"I really really don't wanna know! Huldi?" Carmillia shouted as she used her raven-like wings to avoid the beast's claw.
Huldra who appeared to have become irritated way quicker than normal. Picked up a block of what may have been limestone with her transformed arms. Off the ground and threw it at the beast, things were really weird now.
White sand covered the ground, large foe-egyptian monoliths rose to the sky. And Galistic swore she felt the presence of two of the old gods.
...
They managed to escape from that abomination. And were hanging out in outer london a few hours later. Two pervert Asian girls who were wearing nothing but a swim-suit and raincoat were off to the side of the road groping each other.
Galistic rolled her eyes when she saw them. "don't they understand that it's way too damn cold to be dressed like that?" She muttered as one of the girls, a blond haired girl with… was that literally stars in her eyes? Clung to the brown haired one, something was odd about them. Well beyond the whole being inappropriately dressed. But Galistic couldn't tell what it was.
"None of my concern Galis-sis they ain't cute boys." Carmillia said which got her raised eyebrows from her sisters. "What? I may have taken the name of a lesbian Vampire but I'm straight… It was the only female vampire that I liked the name of." She muttered, hanging her head.
"I… swear you and Huldra got along too well with that weird wannabe succubus girl." Galistic deadpanned.
Huldra perked up for a moment "oh about that, Carmillia!" when the raven winged girl turned to her she whispered something in her ear. "So let's go!"
Carmillia's grin was telling, wherever they were of to it wasn't gonna be below rated 'T'
Baobhan snickered as she waved to them. "Have fun dear sisters~"
Shortly after they left however, A horse galloped by with a female knight on it however.
There was someone else on the horse; a spiky-haired boy sat right behind her a small fey on his shoulder
"Heh heh heh. It must be destiny that we ran into each other again, so let's have a lovely journey together, Miss Knight!
"You must be joking! How dare you take advantage of my compromising position to boss me around!? Have you no shame!? And you call yourself a man!?
Baobhan Sith blinked "oh dear, I guess Carmillia and Huldra are missing out.
Galistic snickered slightly "We're soo gonna mess with that guy later aren't we?"
The roar of an engine was heard and a black bike with the two pervert asian girls from earlier chased after the horse and it's riders. And Baobhan smiled, "oh absolutely that boy is messing with poor girl's hearts."
They however never did manage to find the boy but eventually.
"Baobhan love! Is that you?" A Leann Sidhe said when she spotted Galistic and her sister.
"Celt! What are you doing here in the betweenlands my dear friend?" Baohbhan Sith said shocked.
Celt opened her mouth shocked. "What do you mean? I was about to ask you the same thing. This isn't the world between, this is the main world from which yours came from. Or as they refer to it here, this is the main phase."
…
Scotland around three years ago
Celt Eislyn sat in a train as she looked out a window. Ainmire walked over and sat next to her.
"I must say, that darn magician was annoying to deal with but I enjoy working with you," he said to Celt.
Celt Smiled "It's an honor to work with the great hero himself. But I do wish that I could meet another wonderful girl who practiced arts." she sighed. The hole her lover had left wouldn't go away. None of the holes they left did, but her lover's last wish. Every time, it was for her to find someone new to enjoy life with.
Ainmire frowned and his eye twitched slightly but he shrugged. "Who knows, we may indeed find someone like that. But we now need to deal with the Knucklavee again. Stupid think keeps finding it's way into this phase. It may end up running across your old friend Taranis Conan's home."
Celt growled "We cannot let that happen, he's made himself quite a pleasant life here. Despite the deal he was forced to make, I will not let that life be threatened."
Ainmire smiled, "I, as the fey's chosen hero, will be sure to defeat the Nuckelavee."
They had been traveling together for a while now. Celt appreciated that Ainmire liked her. But she wishes he'd take a hint that she wasn't interested. She wouldn't say it outright though, he was the chosen hero. It would be rude to say such a thing.
They formed a small party of sorts and had a few adventures. They managed to defeat a powerful magician who had hoped to exploit the power of another Leann-Sidhe. Vanquished a powerful dragon that had escaped from a cave in Norway. Making it retreat back to it's cave of cursed gold. They have pushed back an army of the evil Unselie. And now they were once more off to push back the Nuckelavee. That thing just wouldn't stay away. It didn't help that it had become more powerful now due to the christians. It now could wield aspects of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Defeating it would be a chore.
...
A year and a half later Celt was in England. During her travels with Ainmire they had come across many displaced fey. Including a family of Grindylows who had lost their parents. Celt decided to create a sort of group to care for them. She called it, Tir-nall's Wanderers. Ainmire would provide them info and resources when he could. And when he found another displaced fey lost in this phase, He'd bring them to Celt. How it was happening, Celt did not know. But It didn't matter to her, she would protect them, they were now her family, her people. Without the queen of the fey she would need to be responsible for them.
They had recently picked up a young girl of around 5 who had lost her parents. Meab was her name. She was a very sweet girl and got along very well with the grindylow siblings. Ainmire entered the coffee shop that Celt was in and sat in the seat next to her.
"I see you're fond of this place huh Celt?" He said. Celt nodded as she looked to the side.
"It's been a while Ainmire, how have you been?" Celt asked.
"Tired, flipping had to deal with Balor of the Evil eye. That guy was supposed to be dead right? Not only that but after it turns out he had a group of Hobyahs and a Banshee locked up. So I dropped them off with Gentle Annie " The man ranted in exasperation.
"I'll be sure to get something to thank you properly Ainmire. I think you've earned a reward." Celt smiled, hearing her Ainmire's eyes shone slightly.
Celt managed to find a suitable spiritual Item to give Ainmire for his selfless actions. A Celtic charm based designed to grant Inspiration. It would help Ainmire achieve his own goals and desires. He left shortly after, though he appeared disappointed. Celt wasn't sure why though.
...
Shortly after World War Three, Celt had taken in her old friend Taranis's daughter, Muireann. He never returned from World War Three after the Anglicans forced him and his wife to fight in it. Muireann was sleeping in her room after having practiced with the two daggers her mother had left. While she slept upstairs Ainmire visited Celt again. She was sitting in her home when he burst through the door panting.
"Celt!, oh thank Cu you're alive" he sighed in relief as he sagged against the wall.
Celt looked at him confused "of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" she asked.
"Imagine Breaker that's why. I know he was here in England recently. And Damn it! That guy is a threat to all fey. He's the bane of fey, and I was worried he may have gotten to you too." Anmire's fist shook as he sat on the ground.
Celt stood up as fast as she could. "What do you mean!?"
Ainmire looked up at Celt eyes cold "Because he already killed three of the fey. I came to visit them, only to find them dead and fading holes in their chest in the shape of a right hand."
Celt walked over determination in her eyes 'That bastard, no questions? No words said? He just murdered them?! I won't let such a person get away with this' and then she spoke "tell me all you know so we can defeat them."
…
Muireann watched in fear and horror as she lay on the ground barely alive. Kamijou Touma was dead and Index had become a Magic God. She watched as Index kissed the boy she had decided was worthy of her coat. She watched as that boy was enveloped by the rift that formed in Index's lips.
As soon as Kamijou disappeared however, Muireann's binding rune ceased to freeze her. Muireann felt shocked at first 'How!? Kamijou-sama is dead and he never managed to use Imagine breaker on it! I should have continued to freeze and freeze but be unable to die from it. That was my punishment for failing not only to take revenge on Ainmire. But for failing to protect Kamijou sama! The only way it could have stopped is if I was killed or.' Then her eyes went wide as a small feeling of relief filled her. 'He's alive! Kamijou-sama's alive! But where is he? What did Index-san do to him? I need to find him, I can't let him suffer again. He's got to be nearby, otherwise the freezing would have only lessened'
Muireann found she was unable to move, but then Index turned towards her. In that moment, incomprehensible terror filled Muireann. As Index stared at her with her now cosmic purple eyes. Muireann felt as if she was being stared down upon by a ravenous beast. Index began to walk forward and Muireann desperately tried to move but couldn't. Her limbs were too frozen and her body was too dry and injured. 'No, no ,no no please don't! Don't kill me, don't come near me, I don't want to die!' Muireann's mind panicked but she was unable to speak.
Index stopped before her and tilted her head looking at Muireann. She then smiled "You're fine Muireann! You may have been enemies of Touma's at first. But you made it up to him. I won't let anyone who helps Touma die either"
Next thing Muireann knew she was completely healed. She felt new life fill her as her frozen limbs thawed. The dead cells rejuvenated and the frostbite vanished. Her injuries disappeared and her mind cleared.
"Wait! Where's" Muireann began to ask but Index was no longer in front of her. Instead she was standing above a boy that had been killed by Ainmire earlier. Hamazura was his name if the info Muireann had was correct. He was lying on top another girl protectively. Two more girls were lying near them all dead.
Still smiling happily Index Spoke "And that means I'll heal you too Hamazura! Touma's friends and their worlds are important!" The former nun, now something else. Rose her hand and the hole in Hamazura's chest sealed. The injuries on the three girls near him also sealed up and they all woke up .
The long haired brunette shouted as soon as her eyes opened."What the hell was that guy!"
The shorter girl with the bob-cut and wool sweater shook her head. "Suuper no idea Mugino"
The black haired girl in a tracksuit looked at Index in fear as she spoke. "Kinuhata, Mugino… Hamazura!"
Hamazura looked to Index "H-hey Index was it? what's going on, why is Takitsubo afraid of you?"
His question was about to be answered, Index was now facing towards the destroyed city. Her eyes glowed a moment as she gestured. The tops of one of the destroyed skyscrapers rose. Each of its pieces reassemble and reconstruct. It then placed itself back utop the building as if it had never fallen to begin with.
Muireann shuddered as she watched, but next she heard Index mutter something.
"Hungry" the white clad nun said, and her stomach growled.
Instead of it being a lighthearted moment however. It instead caused all who heard it to feel immense fear. A primal fear of being at the bottom of the food chain. Index turned as she reached out her hand.
"Ah, that might fill me up!" spoke the nun, but then she appeared to slip into thin air, vanishing. Slipping through the world itself, Muireann didn't know it, but she felt it.
The gods were merely food to this thing.
