Welcome back again, last chapter was a ride wasn't it? I'm currently as of posting this. Using a backup computer, no biggie. But anyways lets check those reviews.

Whwsms:{Indeed can nothing stop Index? (I wouldn't say I've done that much research on it. I merely look at what I remember and then check back on it to see what I can do wit it.) probably, Index wouldn't really notice any nukes}

Fencer29:{A very accurate translation my dear friend, and yeah unfortunately ignorant idiots really can do loads of damage}

5had0wHand:{Yeah lets be honest… everyone will need a long… long…. Vacation after this. Accelerator would just be the one who pay for it XD.

Yep, divide and conquer as dangerous as it probably is. They don't exactly have a choice with the time limit.

Unlikely I mean this is Touma, and he's not the devourer, you'll see how it ends eventually.

I mean these guys have had all this weird shit going on and they are stubborn AF as well as paranoid of losing control.}

Mr ?:{The main man himself is back! I'm glad you loved the chapter And indeed I had a very specific inspiration for that armor so the fact it hit so well makes me proud of myself. Glad you loved it, and she really is descending into madness.

He had had it coming for a while didn't he? I kinda hoped it'd send that kind of chill through you. Stiyl's really not gonna have it easy when it comes to Index's hate of him. Thank you, I'm glad your looking forward.}

Guest1:{Fair point, but I mainly did the cause one… it's cool AF, and two it's how most people would recognize it. So damn it the phase would make it so, you can't tell me they wouln't!

I should have thought of that, I'll likely modify it when I go back. But by this point I'd say those guys would have lost the influence they had and possibly even get kicked off of the BoD. We saw back in the end of NT22R how little influence they had left. And the guys remaining… we'll they aren't necessarily stupid but they are paranoid asshats who are also ignorant and stubborn when it comes to power.}

Now then, remember constructive Criticism is both encouraged and desired. And on that note, let this tale of an infinity commence once more!

Chapter 38

Uncertainty in the Library

Kamijou Touma woke up much later than normal. For a moment he panicked when he saw Index, but her words from last night. Somehow reassured him that she wouldn't bite him.

Seeing her peaceful face sleeping reminded him why he wanted to protect her. She was like a younger sister to him, even things like wanting him to sleep next to her. She needed security and he provided it. It was kinda cute, but ultimately he couldn't see her as anything more.

He went to get up but a groggy hand grabbed him. "Toumaaa" Index said sleepily, Kamijou shook his head amused. Carefully removing her hand he placed it next to her. A soft smile found its way on her face and Kamijou went over to the kitchen.

Like usual as soon as the scent of food was in the air. Index woke up groggily, she waved slightly from side to side.

"Morning Index, I'm making breakfast then I'll have to go to school." Kamijou said "I'm behind as it is, I'd rather not repeat a grade."

Index blinked her purple eyes, curious. "But Touma, didn't they cancel School for the next few days? The war caused concerns with the safety of students. So they had to re-evaluate some of the systems right?" causing Kamijou to pause. As she tilted her head, green eyes confused.

That, did make sense but why would Index know? Even if the darkside was involved, they'd want Academy City to seem safe for students. So shutting down schools temporarily to 'assess' and 'refine' the system would be a good move. At least based on what Kamijou could guess.

But why did Index know the schools were shutting down? He looked over to her "Index? How come you know this but I don't?" he asked.

Index looked puzzled "Komoe told me, didn't she send you an e-whatchamacallit?" she asked.

Kamijou paused a moment before checking his phone. Only to see an email pop in from three days ago. "Such misfortune" he groaned. Of course he'd be the only one who wouldn't get the message in time. Thankfully Index was able to catch him in time.

Index then smiled "Hey, Touma! If you don't have school. How about we go out today?" she asked him.

Kamijou thought for a moment before shrugging. "I guess, I still somehow have an oddly large amount of money to spend." He was still very hesitant about using it though. But if it made Index smile, he wouldn't mind using a bit.

"Thank you Touma!" Index said happily.

So shortly after the finished breakfast. Kamijou and Index headed out, Kamijou decided it was a good idea to head to seventh mist. He had money, and Index had a limited wardrobe. So what the hell! He smiled to himself. It really was like buying clothing for his younger sister.

However like all things in his life getting there wasn't gonna go without a hitch.

"Trust me Index, you should stay away from Lessar. She's not as bad as Aogami, but she's pretty bad." Kamijou was telling Index about his time during World War Three when. Like usual, he turned a corner to find.

"Such Misfortune" Kamijou moaned as the same delinquents from last night came into view in front of him, their expressions dark. Clenching their fists in what appeared to be annoyance.

Index blinked a moment her purple eyes glinting. "They do something to you Touma?" she asked. Catching the group of thugs' attention, however, they looked more resigned than pissed. Which felt wrong to Touma, he swore they were pissed only moments before.

The lead one sighed "Hey, about last night..." he started. "After we lost you we thought about your words. As much as I hate to admit it, you're right. I tried what you suggested, and well… It worked. The girl said she wouldn't mind." he smiled in self depreciation. "Sure the date didn't go well, but I actually had one…. And It just took me asking."

Kamijou gaped for a moment, but then shrugged. And smiled "No problems here dude, this Kamijou-san is used to that kind of trouble. I'm glad I was able to help you find a date, keep at it."

The lead delinquent shrugged, "hey I was the asshole who wasn't confident in being himself." He then held a hand out, "So really… Thanks."

Kamijou hesitantly shook it and the guy turned and left. One of the other delinquent waved to him "You really helped us dude, if anyone gives you any issues. We'll show em!"

Index looked at Kamijou with an unamused face. "Touuuummaaaaaaaaaaaa, you said you didn't want to be associated with back alley delinquents!.".

"Of course I don't! You think this Kamijou-san is thrilled that multiple gangs like him now!?" Kamijou retorted. But it didn't change the look on Index's face.

"Yes, you certainly aren't avoiding it Touma. And you looked pretty happy when he thanked you." Prompting Kamijou to shut up and continue walking.

As they walked into seventh mist, Kamijou once again felt like he was forgetting something. Something highly important, instinctively. He reached to his right shoulder, as if something… someone. Should be there, what was he missing? What was he forgetting?

Why did it burn to know he was forgetting something. Like the act of forgetting was unforgivable to himself?

Index narrowed her eyes at him in the corner of his vision. But before she asked anything a familiar face showed up.

Long black hair, wearing the Sakugawa middle school uniform. Saten Ruiko stood observing a set of Items on display.

"Hey, Saten... haven't seen you since the daihaisie " Kamijou waved and the girl jumped, startled slightly.

"Kamijou-san! Didn't think I'd see you here." She smiled.

Kamijou shrugged "Index wanted to come, um you're a friend of Misaka's right?" he asked.

Saten looked like she wanted to ask something but Kamijou's question cut her off. "Yeah, what, did something happen between you two?" She then made a mock gasp. "No, don't tell me, did you two run off on a honeymoon? Is that why she went missing?"

Kamijou went to open his mouth but Index Interrupted. "Hmhp! Short hair and Touma aren't a thing. How could they be with her attacking him all the time?"

Saten laughed nervously "ahahaha… right… how, could they?"

Index turned to Kamijou "Who is this girl Touma? I don't know her" she asked Kamijou, but for some reason. She wasn't angry, more like she asked that question because she felt she had to.

Why did Kamijou think she was lying? Index had never met Saten so why? "This is Saten Ruiko, she helped me with the treasure hunt during the Daihasei and then helped me save someone."he answered the inquisitive nun.

Index thought for a moment, "So… you're not in a 'He came to your rescue despite you telling him to stay away' situation?" Index asked Saten who merely tilted her head.

"A what? Are you saying… hold on… I helped you save someone?" Saten looked confused for a moment. Holding a finger to her temple as if trying to remember something.

Kamijou felt concerned as she looked in pain and put his right hand on her head. "You alright?" he asked.

The shattering of Imagine Breaker went off and Saten's eyes flew open. "Ah!... I did…" But then her face became shocked. "Wait! That Angel dragon Kimi had was yours!?"

Kamijou stiffened at the term angel dragon. "Someone else has it?" he asked coldly.

Saten shook her head "Had, not anymore why?"

Sighing Touma responded "So it won't hurt anyone… good."

Saten blinked "that doesn't answer my question, it was yours. You really an esper?" she asked.

Kamijou went to open his mouth but Index interrupted.

"I don't think you should overwhelm Touma with questions, Ruiko." Index stated as she gazed at Saten with her purple eyes. "Especially since not even Touma knows." she sighed and opened her green eyes.

Staten paused for a moment "I.. i'm sorry Kamijou-san, I didn't mean to."

"N- no you're good Saten" Kamijou stammered. This was wrong, no way would Saten just drop such a topic. But why was he so sure of that? And why was index not curious about the dragons? She'd never seen them before, not even when he fought the Alchemist.

Index tugged on Kamijou's arm "Touma Touma! We should get going, I'm sure Ruiko is busy with her own thing." She said, her purple eyes pouting.

Wait

'Purple? Index's eyes aren't purple' Kamijou thought.

A ringing caught his attention and Saten quickly picked it up "Eh!? Really!? I am Sooo sorry Uiharu! I'll be right there!" sheepishly smiling. "Sorry, I kinda came here with a friend and we were gonna go do Karaoke. But I lost track of time, so later!" Saten waved as she ran off. Leaving Touma shocked at the coincidence.

'Okay, that was… convenient, Index was right I guess.' The spiky haired boy thought as he and Index headed to the clothing section.

Kamijou Stood near the register as Index went to find and try out outfits. This gave him some time to think on the things bothering him.

'Not only am I forgetting something, but whatever it is, is not just important. Index's eyes have been changing from green to purple then back again for a while now. But I somehow never noticed!? What's it all mean?' Kamijou stood by the register where the cashier eyed him oddly.

"Excuse me sir, is there a reason you're standing there? You're not trying to peep on girls trying out new clothes are you?" She asked.

Kamijou frantically tried to correct a developing misunderstanding. He didn't have time to deal with Anti-skill. "No! This Kamijou-san is not some depraved pervert like Aogami!" he frantically waved his hands in front of his face. But that only made the cashier narrow her eyes and reach her hand under the table.

"Touma Touma, how do I look?" Index popped around the corner just as Kamijou had braced himself for the woman to call Anti-skill or judgement.

Blinking Kamijou smiled, "It looks lovely on you Index!" he said. "Didn't expect one of their first outfits you chose to work this well."

The cashier paused then smiled "oh, alright then, I assume you're the one paying young man?" she asked Kamijou

"This Kamijou-san had found himself with an odd amount of fortune. So I decided I'd buy Index some new outfits." he smiled.

"I'm going to try out the other outfits, Touma!" Index said as she rushed over to the changing rooms. Once more leaving Kamijou with his thoughts.

'Why are Index's eyes changing from green to purple? What's the pattern? What am I missing!?' Kamijou thought.

"Is something bothering my cute little Kouhai?" A familiar mature voice whispered in his ear.

"Kumokawa Senpai!" Kamijou jumped, "what are you doing here!?" he asked.

"I was heading to the food court when I saw your cute face contemplating something." Said his senpai Kumokawa Seria, a girl older than him. She was known as the 'beauty senpai' at his school. And she was totally out of his league, so her worrying about him was a wonderful surprise.

"Ah! This Kamijou-san is honored you would worry about him, Senpai! But it's really nothing!" Kamijou said.

The chasheir was unamused however. "Ohohohoooo so you're one of those player types? I guess I'll have to phone in judgement." she said as she reached her hand under the counter.

"What does she mean by player type, my cute Kouhai?" Seria said in a toxically sweet voice.

"I honestly don't know! How could I be a player!? This Kamijou-san couldn't even get a girl to love him if he decided to treat them like a princess!" he began crying.

"You've treated a girl like a princess? Who was it?" Seria asked, eyes narrowing.

"Leave Touma alone!" Index shouted her eyes once more purple. "He's not a player! Stop misinterpreting his words!" her eyes then faded back to green.

Seria and the Cashier both fell silent. "I… I'm sorry sir, I didn't mean to offend." the Cashier apologized.

Seria glared at Index "Tch! So that's it, hm?, fine princess." Seria then turned and left.

As Kamijou paid for Index's clothes silently. He did not miss what had been shown to him.

'It's the same as with Saten, if she really is changing people's behavior when her eyes are purple...' Kamijou carried the bag of clothes as they left the store.

'Then how many times has she manipulated the minds of others!? And why!?'
