Chapter 6

A week later…

Yami let out a sigh as he fixed himself one last time. He looked at himself in the mirror and for the first time had truly seen how different he was from his younger brother.

Their gravity defying hair is the only thing that had made other people assume that they're brothers, and where the similarities start, that's where it also ends.

Where his brother's hair was tipped in amethyst, the same color of his eyes, his were tipped in crimson as his eyes were. He was also a bit taller than his brother, and leaner than any boy in his age.

"Yami, are you done?" a voice spoke through the door. His grandfather.

He let out one final sigh then turned away from the mirror and faced towards the door. "I'm done, grandpa."

Solomon waited for his older grandson to appear in their living room while tensedly standing between his grandson and the man who had come a week prior to give the letter.

His heart leaped at the sight of his grandson as he appeared in the doorway. Eventhough Yami is born commoner, he knows how to bring himself with such grace and a regal air like born of royalty.

The clothes that he was wearing was the standard school uniform, blue polo under a black blazer with the school's insignia on the left collar. The millennium eye.

Yami felt slightly out of place in his clothes as he walked inside the room, as not used to wear such high quality clothing, much more clothing fit for people who are from the highclass.

Yuugi beamed at his brother happily then quickly dashed to the window, and stuck his head out slightly. "Wow! You've got to ride in a carriage!"

The carriage was of a mixture of gold and crimson harnessed to two white horses with a light yellow mane and brown eyes.

Yami followed suit and his eyes couldn't believe it. He felt rather excited but gloomy at the same time. He hoped that his brother would get to go with him.

But it was not to be so.

"We've got to go." the man told them stiffly-more like to him as he placed his hands on his back and looked at them.

Yami nodded and took in a deep breath as he turned his head to look at his younger brother, who was still smiling and somewhat sad at the same time.

A small smile made its way across his face as he walked towards the younger and knelt infronf of him. Placing his hands on the other's shoulders.

"Yuugi...what's wrong?" he asked as he examined the younger's face. "Come on, tell me."

He let out a surprised yelp as the younger wrapped his arms around his neck. "I will miss you, Yami." he heard the younger mumbled.

He smiled. "I'll miss you too." and then wrapped his arms around the younger, for one last hug.

After a few seconds which felt like minutes to him, he stood up and carefully wiped the tears on his brother's face and nudged him playfully. "Don't cry, Little One. I won't be gone long."

Yuugi nodded as he looked up at his brother, his amethyst eyes shone bright with determination.

Yami chuckled and turned towards the door, followed by the man. He then turned to see his family one last time who had their arms around each other.

"I won't let you down." he vowed and then smiled at his younger brother. This was for both of them. For all they've sacrificed.

Yuugi nodded then ran towards the older and wrapped his arms tight around the other's slender waist. "I know you will. Take care."

Yami nodded and gently patted the younger's back. Yuugi let go then step back as he looked and waved at the older as he went out the door.

And wasn't expecting someone to be there. Waiting.

"Jounouchi."

The messy blond haired youth straightened himself and turned to look at him. "Yami."

They stared at each other for a minute. Then the latter let out an exasperated sigh as he rubbed the back of his head.

"I will look after your family." the blond promised.

Yami nodded as a smile made its way across his face at his friends solemn promise. "I know you would."

"Good bye, Yams." Jounouchi joked as he clapped the other's back. "You can do it."

The older Motou took his friend's hand and squeezed it. "Thank you."

"Anytime."

Yami let out a sigh and continued walking to the carriage, the man held the door open for him. He looked up at the window and saw his family waving at him.

With joy in their faces.

He waved back. And shouted. "Goodbye, grandpa and Yuugi."

"Goodbye, Yami." Yuugi cried as he waved both of his hands in the air. "Good luck!"

He nodded and raised a thumbs up in the air then turned back and got inside the carriage, the man closing the door after him.

The man slapped the horses' reins and the carriage began to move. Yami poke his head out of the window and waved at his family and bestfriend.

He then let out a sigh as he retreated inside the safety of the carriage and leaned his back on the soft leather seat. The curtain slipped back to cover the window.

"What am I going to do now?" he whispered to himself. He was feeling several emotions at once, but being nervous and worried had taken the bait.

It was his decision that had decided this. And now, he was worried of how he is going to fare in a prestigious school filled with members of the nobility and royalty of his country and others.

He came from a low-class family, and if the Ancient Egyptian caste were followed, his family would be included in the peasantry.

His grandfather barely made a living of selling toys. And taking care both him and his brother even with his salary as a waiter couldn't even cover their whole month's expenses.

He was woken from his thoughts when the carriage abruptly stopped and threw him onto the floor.

"Now I flunked carriage riding." he muttered to himself as he eased himself off the floor and sat back down onto the seat.

The carriage door was opened by a well dressed stranger which made him feel more inferior than he actually let on.

He heaved in a deep breath before he stepped down from the carriage as the man closed the door and quickly retreated from wherever he came from.

"Do you think-" he started to ask as he turned to the horseman but the man had already flicked the reins and moved away.

'Guess, I have to do find things myself.' he thought as he let out a sigh and looked up at the magnificent building standing infront of him.

'What did I get myself into?' he thought. He then turned away from the building and decided to look at the front lawn of the school.

It was more breathtaking than the one on television. Sprawling at the entire front of the school with a paved walkway in between to accommodate carriages and cars.

He moved his eyes away from the lawn then back to the building infront of him. He straightened himself up and ascended the stairs towards the school's main doors.

To begin his adventure.
