Welcome back to another chap of LoCG people! Im releasing this a little earlier than normal as you can see Last chap seemed pretty popular. And damn… did not expect Rolf to be that popular. Anyways, the moment you've all been anticipating is nigh so lets get Dem reviews underway.

Whwsms:{(duudun duuudun, dudundudundudun) No… I went to great lengths to explain why Rolf was able to show up despite Index being a true Magic God. Just because you can know everything doesn't mean you want to know everything. I detailed that Index had chose to limit her knowledge of her world. Which is why Rolf managed to surprise her, because she had chosen to not know. I mean what fun is knowing everything?}

5had0wHand:{Excelent deduction watson!, it appears detective Kamijou is nearing the truth.

Glad you enjoyed him, honestly didn't expect people toile him so much}

BlueJack22:{only after reading this, did I realize how right you were… he fits right in!}

Mr?:{The main man himself again, damn You liked Rolf too? Noice!

Blind faith man… blind faith… and a unhealthy dose of simpage

Thanks, I knew he'd be thinking about it, but also be trying to find reasons for it.}

Tommthecommie:{Hello comrade!

She certainly is isn't she!

You'll find out soon

Well I mean… that lead to his death if you forgot soo… call her crazy… actually don't thats a bad idea

I mean… we don't actually know how old she is}

With that out of the way Remember Constructive Criticism is both encouraged and desired. Now let this tail of an infinity commence once more!

Chapter 53

Shattered Mirror of the Library

Morning came to Kamijou's dorm, preparing for school alongside Index. Kamijou noticed she was fairly happy, casually humming away.

He smiled softly at that, for all the manipulation she was doing. He still wanted to protect her, she was family to him.

Opening his bag the smile faltered and he frowned. "Fukouda" Kamijou sighed, catching Index's attention.

"Something happen, Touma?" the former nun asked.

Kamijou showed the inside of his bag causing the nun to recoil. "My Textbooks are ruined, I think I left some leftovers in there." He shook his head "I'll need to buy new ones, so can you tell Komoe I'll be a little late, Index?" he asked her.

Index pouted "Fine, but you have to buy me pudding, Touma!" she said stating her selfish desire.

Rolling his eyes, Kamijou reluctantly agreed. "Yeah yeah, I will," before smiling "thanks Index," the girl blushed seeing that.

Shortly after finishing breakfast the two left the dorm. As they walked Index looked at Kamijou with narrowed eyes. "Touma, Touma! You'll come right to school after getting your textbooks right?" she asked.

Kamijou chuckled sardonically, "You really expect this Kamijou not to run into misfortune along the way?" he asked her.

The former nun rolled her eyes "Good point Touma," she smiled at him. "See you at school then!" before running ahead to the school.

Kamijou was actually kinda glad that his textbooks had got ruined. It meant he had an authentic excuse to wander off on his own.

Quickly buying his textbooks and a pudding for Index. Touma made his way through district seven. There was something he was still curious about.

And only one person who was crazy or fanatic enough to answer his questions.

Pulling out the note from his pocket he looked at it. "Alright Rolf, let's see what you know," Kamijou muttered to himself.

Entering Josephs he glanced to the seat nearest the entrance. It was populated by students wearing an unfamiliar uniform. However, he didn't see Rolf with them as they chatted. Off to the side their teacher lazily read a book

Kamijou approached and they began to quiet down. They seemed to have noticed his approach. "Uum.. I'm looking for Those who seek the Truth?" he asked nervously.

The students immediately became guarded as they looked at Kamijou suspiciously.

One of their members however gestured for him to sit next to her.

"How did you know we were meeting here?" she asked "I know we don't have any members in Academy city. Otherwise we wouldn't need to come here."

She was a young girl the same age as Rolf. Blond hair flowed down her shoulders in ripples stopping at her spine. Hazel eyes gazed at Kamijou with curiosity. A petite figure that was just beginning to develop. She held an almost casual expression as she observed the boy before her.

Kamijou pulled out the note Rolf had snuck into his pocket. "Your friend Rolf gave this to me," he handed the note to the girl whose eyes had narrowed.

She took a moment reading the note. "Well, you don't seem to be lying, Only those with us here knew we were coming," she began. "However… I don't recognize this name… who's… Rolf?" she asked, confused.

Kamijou gave her a confused look of his own. "You're kidding right? Rolf, kid around your age with red hair and gray eyes?" She shook her head as the others carefully grabbed utensils. "Massive appetite?" Kamijou probed his heart rate increasing.

The girl made a face "not ringing a bell sorry" she said as her hand moved to her chest.

"Founder of your group? I kinda ran into him as he was being picked on by delinquents." Kamijou felt sweat forming on his brow. "Don't tell me he's one of those shady types who never shows up."

One of the members stood up "Oh please he clearly stole that info from somewhere. Probably one of those magic groups checking if we're a threat," he held a plastic knife in his hand.

The girl held her hand up causing them to sit down. "You know full well that isn't the case… besides," her eyes narrowed. "He just brought up an interesting detail we were missing."

Eyes widened around the group "The founder," one of them said.

Kamijou scratched his head in confusion, what were they going on about?

"Exactly," the girl stated her breathing shook lightly. "Who was he?" Silence fell in the group "I know we all knew him personally. Hel I even knew they were a he.'' She had a nervous look on her face. "And.. I know I loved them, but." She looked to Kamijou "I don't know what their name or face was','

Kamijou felt his breath catch hearing them. What was going on, did Index wipe their memories of Rolf? If so, why hadn't he shown up to fix that?

The member with the plastic knife groaned. "Darn it, that would definitely explain the mysterious message and renaming" he shook his head. "But what's to say we can trust this guy?" he pointed his knife at Kamijou.

"Yeah! For all we know he's responsible for it", Another said holding a small needle.

Kamijou held his hands up, shaking them in front of himself. "Whoa whoa whoa let's not start a fight please, can you guys slow down so this Kamijou-san can keep up?" The mention of his last name caught a lot of raised eyebrows. A few of the girls in the group held their hands to their faces as a weird high pitched noise came from their mouth.

The first girl raised an eyebrow "Kamijou… as in Kamijou Touma?" she asked.

He nodded "why am I not surprised you know my name?" he sighed

The girl's eyes widened "well then, this changes things," she said. "My name Hella Ylva" the girl introduced herself. "We were actually just pondering the odd message when you arrived." she said.

Kamijou leaned forward, eyes narrowing. "What… message?" he asked hesitantly.

One of the girls piped in a bit shyly "Well, um last night we all got a message for some reason. It… It read 'For now that I have found the truth. Let the jaws of the Devourer make me a martyr. And let us be christened as her followers' or something really weird like that" the girl shrugged.

Jaws of the Devourer

'A Great Devourer is never full'

A crack began to spread.

"Yep!" a boy said "And then we found that the file which held the book of our findings was renamed. No rhyme or reason behind it, just was renamed." He made a face "now that I think of it..."

Hella nodded "Your right… that name… Rolf… it was the name of the Author."

The second girl shook her head "That makes no sense, It's not like people just cease to exist like that."

Ceased to exist

Erased from History

A perfect world with no tragedy. Where he was not needed.

A world he did not exist, a world he would destroy by existing

Despair

Kamijou felt his heart rate spike, as his pulse quickened further. Sweat rolled down his face as he felt himself having difficulty breathing. His eyes widened in fear as his hands shook. His skin paled and he shivered as his head throbbed in agony

He remembered

A massive fortress built by a group based in norse mythology.

A golden spear which could tear reality apart.

An endless black labyrinth, infinite hells countless years.

Fighting the world for a single girl's smile.

Gods descending upon the city of science

A Right hand that could send people to a new world.

Aliester Crowely, Coronzon

A red and green dragon posing as himself.

Anna sprengel, R&C Occults.

Fey, Ainmire Anlong

A yellow shaft piercing his heart.

Death

But Most importantly

A lonely god who wished to be understood.

His Understander

All at once the girl's face became clear. Blond hair and an eyepatch, a soft smile wearing a leather outfit and cape with a witches hat. Sitting upon his shoulder as she laughed.

A angry narrowing of the eye, and a jab when he did something dumb.

A teasing comment when he amused her.

Othinus

The girl who killed him

The girl who saved him

The girl who became his understander.

A former god who took his world away.

The allfather herself who gave it all back.

The Norse god who would stand beside him when no one else will.

His other half

Kamijou stumbled, as he stood in a rush startling those around him. "Sorry!" he shouted as he began to run. The memories kept flooding back into his mind as he felt the world fade from focus.

He recalled everything.

"Othinus? Muireann? What's this about fey? Who's Ainmire?"

"Don't worry Touma, I'll protect you!"

"The Anglicans should be giving you something more"

Every time Index's eyes had become purple.

A celtic god with one arm

"You're inside of her, she created this phase. Stop her before it's too late!"

Kamijou ran full sprint as he charged towards the one place he had been avoiding.

"There wouldn't be anything for you to see here"

The hospital he had woken up in, his heart screamed in pain as he ran through the streets. The honking of cars and shouts of bystanders no longer mattered to him.

How foolish was he!?

Index couldn't just manipulate minds, she was the Index. There was a very good reason the church had feared her enough to place a collar on her.

She hadn't been allowed to use magic because of one very specific detail.

Index would become a magic god. Someone so powerful they could restructure the entirety of reality with a thought. And add an entirely new phase upon it.

Until recently, Index had not been able to use magic. Alongside that she had the threat of the church erasing her memories over her head.

But that had all changed last December, the archbishop had been revealed as Coronzon. A great demon thus making her threat invalid. And Touma had destroyed the final remnants of the collar that sealed Index's mana.

But why hadn't she used magic sooner?

Simple, even though Index could remember everything she's ever seen, heard or done. She doesn't necessarily make connections between memories unless given a reason.

And that is exactly what happened, when Kamijou was killed. She had desperately wished she could save him. Leading her to realize she could use magic.

Index had become a magic god, and created a phase within herself. One which she had trapped Kamijou inside of.

She could control everything and anything. Whether she chose to or not was different. But every time her eyes became that vibrant shade of purple. She had not just been manipulating minds. She had been altering reality to her whim like a script.

The key was in her wording

Like with Misaka and Mugino.

Index never said they would leave Kamijou alone.

She had said they should leave Kamijou alone.

Like she was suggesting a change in a script.

At first Index may have vocalized each change because she was new to her power. But later on, she likely did it just because she found it fun.

Meaning Rolf had likely existed until last night when Kamijou had talked to him. Index had found them and made Kamijou leave. Rolf had been a threat to her world as he had nearly revealed the truth to Kamijou.

So, in order to eliminate that threat, she could have erased Rolf in his entirety.

Kamijou shivered at that thought.

He had questioned her perfect world, her reality.

He no longer cared about school as he ran through the halls of the hospital.

He needed to get out of here, and he needed to get out a week ago.

Busting through into the room he woke up In Kamijou threw his fist at the one thing he could think of.

The window.

His fist collided with the glass, but instead of it shattering. Light poured out as the sound of Imagine Breaker going off repeatedly was heard.

Pushing further Touma felt something soft, wet and disgusting. A burning sensation filled his hand as he pushed further. "IiinnnnnndEEEEEEEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXXXX!" He roared.

And his hand met frozen cold air.

Stiyl, Kanzaki, Birdway, Ollerus, Fiamma, Silvia and Brunhild all stared in shocked silence as the right hand reached out.

A force desperately tugged at it trying to pull it back into Index. But it bent down and supported itself on her body. A left hand was pulled out as it placed itself on the opposite side of Index. A head of Spiky hair emerged as Kamijou slowly attempted to pull himself out.

He had his teeth gritted in pain as if the strain of fighting the force pulling him back in was exhausting him.

Tears fell from his face as he looked out at those around him.

"Please!... Help me save her!" he said, faltering slightly as he fell a few inches back into Index's body. "Before she loses herself!" he cried out "because, I can't do it on my own!"

Kanzaki's eyes widened further, Stiyl understood why. Kamijou Touma never, never asked for help. And here he was asking for help because he felt he couldn't bear the burden alone.

Temporarily snapping out of her shock, Kanzaki shouted "Kamijou! What's going on! Where are you!" she asked.

"Yeah! Tell us fool!" Birdway agreed.

Before he could answer them however. Index's eyes snapped open "Touuumaaaaaaaa," She slowly growled standing up straight. "Get," She reached her arms around. "Back," placing her hands on his head she began to push on him. "INSIDE!" Touma's arms lost their grip and he was shoved back within Index's body as the light flared. A sucking sound was heard as Kamijou shouted before being silenced.

The light began to fade as Index stumbled. The act of forcing Touma back in seemed to have exhausted her. Breathing heavily she glared up at Stily.

But before she could move her stomach growled loudly.

Silence as everyone held their breath as the devourer's eyes surveyed them.

Would they be spared?

Or

Would they find the jaws of the Library to be the last sight they saw.

"I'll deal with you later Stiyl!" Index growled threateningly.

Raising her hand she swung downward. A shrieking suction was heard and a detonation occurred. The devourer vanished leaving them stranded in the Russian winter. The burning wreckage of their plane finally became visible in the storm.

They had been spared this time.

But next time, they might not be as lucky.

Kamijou was launched back from the window before he was caught by a set of soft arms.

He quickly pulled himself away and turned around. There Index stood, gazing at him sadly with her vibrant purple eyes. She blinked as Kamijou stood guarded, staring at her.

He felt afraid, a shiver went down his spine as a whirlwind of conflicting emotions swirled inside him. He was afraid yes, afraid of this girl turned god who had trapped him in a reality within her. But he was also confused, confused as he could not comprehend what reason she had done it. And shocked as he could hardly believe this was the Index he had known.

But he still needed to ask her a simple question.

"Why… Index?" he said simply.

Index looked down at her feet as she fiddled with her hands.

Kamijou repeated himself "WHY!?" he shook slightly as fear threatened to overtake him. "Why would you do this to me? What is going on? Where is this place? What is this place? Is everything you've told me here a lie? Or am I missing something, because I don't understand why you-"

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU TOUMA!"Index interrupted. "But you keep getting yourself hurt!" She took a breath "You can't turn away from the suffering of others. Even if it's barely a nick on the cheek. It's part of who you are, and I love that. But because of it, you're always getting dragged into battles of life and death. Just to save someone you met that day. It doesn't even matter if you're fighting a god. You selfishly throw yourself in harm's way with zero thought to what people like me think. Because, to you, every smile in the world is an irreplaceable treasure… every smile… but yours."

Index shook unsteadily as she spoke, turning her head up with an unstable smile on her face. Her hand was held at her heart clenched as if in pain.

"Do you know how that makes me feel? How, your actions affect me? I couldn't stand it! I hate that side of you! I hate how you treat yourself as a disposable tool! I hate how you can't see how much you're loved and adored! I hate how you treat your life as less valuable than others! I hate how you are willing to die just to save one person's smile! And I hate that I could do Nothing to help you! I couldn't cast spells, I couldn't even defend myself! I just held you back as you protected me. And in the end?… you come back… no, you get carried back to this very room. Covered in bandages almost completely unrecognizable. And I can do nothing! Not even to ease your pain! None of the spells I knew would be of any use because of your right hand!"

Tears welled in her eyes "So after I figured out what Othinus had done to you? I knew I needed to do something. Anything to help you, otherwise I'd lose you. And then Ainmire made my worst fear come true. You were dying in my arms and there was nothing anyone could do. So, I became a god, I created a phase within myself and placed you inside. A world where all you had to worry about… was your attendance, what you'd have for dinner, and if you'd finish your homework in time. A world where you didn't need to risk your life to save someone. A world, where you could finally have the one thing you were never allowed to have! A happy, unchanging normal life. I MADE THIS WORLD TO PROTECT YOU HUMAN!" she shouted. Tears streamed down her face as she threw her arms outward.

Index's eyes went wide as she stepped back realizing what she had said.

Kamijou's head was down, face shadowed as he stood silently for a moment. "Then…" he began with almost a hiss as he grit his teeth. "Where's Othinus?"

Silence fell as Index froze, her eyes focused on him.

Slowly raising his head Kamijou stared her in the eyes "Where is Othinus?" he asked again raising his voice.

Index stayed silent as tears began rolling down her cheeks. She was biting her lip as she shivered, like a child when their parents found them lying.

"You're not going to answer me… are you?" Kamijou concluded, eyes narrowing a moment.

Index merely gulped as sweat formed on her brow, confirming his suspicions.

Kamijou sighed and looked at her with a neutral expression. "I don't know why you can't tell me. But if you're not going to answer me, then let me out."

Index shook her head as she stepped back. Her hands came up in a protective gesture.

"Index," he repeated softly "Please… let me out."

"No!" Index stated her voice shaking. "I won't!"

Kamijou's own voice began to shake "P...Please Index!, you need to let me out. I need to see Othinus!" he shouted at her. His heart was pounding as he begged the former nun, turned god.

Index flinched at the mention of Othinus, eyes closed as if she had been scolded. "NO! If I do, you'll only get yourself hurt again! IF I LET YOU LEAVE I'LL ONLY LOSE YOU AGAIN!" She shouted. "And I can't let that happen, not again! I won't let it happen!" her voice slowly became steady. "I know you don't approve of what I'm doing. But… As much as seeing you look at me with that disapproval hurts. It hurt infinitely more to hold your dying body in my arms, as the life drained from you!" Tears leaked from her eyes as she clenched her shaking fists.

Kamijou spoke softly "Index," he said as he gazed at her sympathetically. "I never asked for you to do this. I'm flattered you'd go so far as to make this world for me. But if I was going to die, then that's my fault. I don't want you clinging to me just because you love me." He smiled "Thank you for saving me, but… please… let me go," he asked her a final time.

For a moment, Index was silent as if thinking about what Kamijou had said.

A short breath came from her as she sighed."If you can't accept this world, the one I made for you. To protect you, and if you feel you need to stop me." Her eyes opened as she stared at Touma with a broken smile "Then I'll destroy it and lock you away where only I know so you can never get yourself hurt again"

In an instant, vibrant purple flames consumed the world.

Kamijou's face went white as the familiar black landscape of the void greeted him.

Index's school outfit burned away revealing an outfit that appeared a cross between her old habit and the armor she wore in the outside world. Her body matured till she held a figure similar to that of a certain one eyed god's.

"In...IIIINDEEEEEEEEEEEEXXXXX!" Kamijou roared in desperate terror, reaching out with his right hand.

But he was halted as chains wrapped around his arms, legs and body. Strength left him as shackles formed. Pinning him in place as he was strapped to an invisible wall.

Index stood before him, her hand on his cheek as a tear rolled down it. "You may think you are expendable, but you aren't. Not to me Touma," she smiled at him softly as she held his chin. "You're everything to me Touma, and that makes you worth an infinite number of realities." Kamijou's eyes went wide in shock as she placed her lips upon his and kissed deeply.

Pulling away Index frowned "Which means I'll consume just as many to protect you."

As she turned and began to leave. Touma cried out in desperation "No!... Index...no please! Don't Do It!..." tears began streaming down his face as he threw himself against the chains that would not budge. "DON'T DESTROY YOUR CHANCE AT A NORMAL LIFE!"

But, Index merely gave a backwards glance as she smiled sadly. "It's okay Touma, I'll protect your world for you," before her avatar faded from the black world.

"Ah….. aahhhhh….AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Kamijou cried out to the void as his mind began to crumble in upon itself. Hundred of billions of years worth of trauma flooding in all at once.

There was no understander to anchor him to reality.

There was no enemy to keep his anger focused on.

There was only the black world which one of his closest friends trapped him in.

Trapped him in out of the pure love and care she held for him.

With nothing left to keep him sane, the boy named Kamijou Touma.

Finally

After infinite hells

After constant torment

After being asked to by a desperate god lost in a world of her own creation.

Finally

Index achieved what no other being, god or otherwise had ever achieved.

She had Broken Kamijou Touma.

AN: Damn!… now thats a chapter if I'm allowed to toot my own horn.

The scene which picks up where we left off with Touma bursting out of Index was inspired by marvel's Wandavison. Specifically were Vison attempts to exit the Hex, you can probs see the influence.

Now the scene after that where Index confesses to Touna, is kinda meant to be a sorta It Bothers Me moment. Hope it hit hard.

Anyways, with that I set my gaze to another infinity.
