Chapter 10

"What are you reading?" Yami asked Ryou as he sat down on the bed beside the prince's and looked at the title of the book.

"It's nothing." Ryou blushed as he closed the book and placed it down beside him. "It was just a load of biology work."

"I never knew why I can't stand those…" Marik spoke as he walked towards the two. "Although the book seemed to be not a biology book in my perspective."

He began bouncing the ball on his knee and then turned to Yami. "Hey, do you play?" he called the other who turned his head towards him.

Yami smirked as he stood up and took of his coat then threw it on his bed. "I do, but expect to lose."

Marik snorted. "I've never lost before." and kicked the ball towards Yami's direction, whom to his surprise had began bouncing the ball on his knees like he he had practiced all his life.

Although Yami did back when he was younger.

"Whoa!" Marik exclaimed. "I never thought-but how did-"

"I always played soccer when I was younger." Yami explained as he played with the ball. "And seemed to forgot about it when I began working."

"So, you're Yami Mutou?" Marik clarified.

Yami nodded and when he was about to kick the ball towards Marik, he lost his footing and ended up sprawled on the floor on his stomach.

And to his horror, the ball flew towards Ryou, and the prince jumped out of his bed in shock. And ran to Marik's side, his hand clenched at his side.

The ball bounced off the headboard and flew towards the window, bounced back but towards Ryou's desk instead, and papers flew everywhere.

Yami eased himself off the floor and quickly began fixing up the mess he had accidentally caused. He then threw an apologetic glance towards Ryou.

And continued gathering up the papers, silently berating himself for causing such a first impression on them.

"I'm sorry." he told the white haired prince as he handed him the papers. "I was-"

"No need to apologize." Ryou told him kindly and bent down to pick up a paper near Yami's feet. "Accidents do happen." he told the other as he straightened up and took the papers from him.

"You miss one." Marik informed him as he bent down to pick up a stack of papers which were held together by a stapler, which thankfully didn't scatter like the rest did.

Ryou turned to face him and smiled as he placed the papers on his desk. "Thank you for picking them up, I do appreciate the gesture."

Marik was about to hand it over when his eyes caught on the title and he held back, flipping the pages quickly, scanning the contents. With Yami reading over his back.

"Ah! Don't read that!" Ryou practically screamed in fright as he turned to grabbed the document from Marik. And kept it to his chest. "I'm not ready to show it yet." he added under his breath as he turned to look away.

The spiky blond haired prince blinked. "Why not? What I've seen and read are pure genius!"

Yami nodded in agreement then noticed that Ryou wouldn't be swayed by anything in particular concerning whatever he had written. He let out a sigh and strained a smile. "It's okay, Ryou. We wouldn't force you if you don't want to."

Ryou nodded in agreement then placed the papers on his table with the rest and threw the ball at Marik who caught it in surprise.

With a smile back on his face, the white haired prince turned to look at Yami. "I'm sorry I didn't hear your name earlier. But is it Yami Mutou?"

Yami nodded despite the feeling that they might have the possibility to look at him in disgust and hate just as the other students did.

"Oh, the lottery winner." Marik piped up which he received a glare from Ryou. Yami let out an exasperated sigh as he sat down on his bed. "Isn't it obvious?"

"Not really." Marik answered as he stood beside the lord royal in training and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Just that they announced that Yami Mutou is the lottery winner."

Yami let out a sigh, his crimson eyes trained on the plush carpet of their room. Deep in thought.

Ryou threw a glare at Marik who shrugged in defense and sat down beside Yami and placed a comforting hand on the other's shoulder. "Yami...just forget everything that happened prior to your arrival here."

"Yeah, " Marik spoke up and squeezed the other's shoulder gently. "Ryou and I would be here for you. We might not look like much but we can sure be your friends."

Yami looked up at both of them who were smiling genuinely at him. And slowly, a smile made its way across his face. "Thank you...my friends."

Ryou and Marik smiled at him and when the former was about to say something, the door opened and Mana stood at their doorway, her hands folded infront of her.

The three boys turned to look at her with confusion. And Yami stood up and smiled at the first friend he had found in this world.

And she smiled back then remembered the reason why she was there in the first place. "I almost forgot! All students are ordered to be at the outdoor auditorium in five minutes!" she declared and closed the door.

"Five minutes?!" Ryou cried in disbelief as he looked around their room. On his desk specifically which was still messy from the ball that had crashed on it earlier.

Marik grabbed his hand. "Let's go!" and nodded at Yami who followed after them while slipping his arms inside the sleeves of his coat.

They rushed down the halls and straight to the side gardens and quickly rushed to sat down at the chairs in the very back right before the headmaster began his speech.

Yami watched the headmaster with keen interest and he gasped as he saw an elderly man standing beside the headmaster.

Someone who looked like his grandfather back home.

His crimson eyes widened at seeing his grandfather's clone standing there wearing clothing that befit the position that he could possibly have in this country.

"What is my grandfather doing here?" he half-whispered as he frowned.

Marik looked at him in confusion. "Your grandfather?" he whispered. "He's-"

Before he could complete his sentence, Mahad cleared his throat, prompting the students to look at him, their eyes holding a mixture of boredom and excitement, but some in irritation and tiredness.

And the headmaster began his speech, while keeping an eye on one of his students, specifically Yami.

"Show me that you're different from everyone, Yami."

Siamun stood a little behind the headmaster, beaming at the new students who entered the Academy this year. He could already tell there were a lot of potential allies and people who would aim high in their respective status in life.

Although…

He followed the headmaster's gaze and let out a gasp as he had never seen such a student before in his life.

A student with such color of eyes. Eyes at his vantage point seemed to be of a mixture of red and violet considering the illumination of the string of lights around them.

But there could be no mistake…

He narrowed his eyes, not a little too obvious to make the crowd wary of him, but kept his eyes on those eyes.

Eyes that were too out of this world.

"Who owns those eyes?" he thought as the color had smeared into his mind. For he hadn't seen anything like it in his life.

"I must meet the person who own those kind of eyes."

There's already a give away of who it might be... :) but anyways...keep reading!
