This was supposed to be last Thursday...but I was carried off...so keep reading!
Chapter 11
Mahad stood behind the platform, his eyes gazing over at every student's face, reading their expressions and their body movement.
His eyes landed on each and every student that he feels are lacking in their department, regardless of their station or the capabilities that make them stand out.
Letting out a deep sigh, he began, his voice carried through the vicinity, clear and displaying the authority he have over them as their instructor.
"Welcome students, and cheetahs, " he stopped as he saw Aikikii bound up to Yami and began licking his face, then turned back to the audience. "Tonight, you begin the greatest challenge in your life. Training to become a prince or a lord royal. The most important jobs of the realm."
Yami looked on at the headmaster, his heart filled with determination as the words reached him. He knows that despite his station, he could mount to a position if he is clearly set on it.
"Your classmates, Otogi and Honda are bringing around your training brooches." the headmaster said as he gestured to the two boys pulling on a cart with several small pins placed on top, glinting under lights.
"Don't get used to them, " he warned as Yami and his friends being the last row began placing their brooches on their chests after the two boys had given them theirs. "only those who succeed this semester will earn the real versions."
He then continued. "Fail as a prince in training and you will not be crowned. We have very high expectations here, each of you must attend every class on time and in uniform and your grades must be exceptional."
Unknown to the headmaster, a man wearing an expensive suit and tie began pacing behind him, arms crossed over his chest.
"That said," Mahad continued now obvious to the pacing lord behind him. "I believe everyone of you has prince potential. Work hard, stay dedicated, and you will achieve it."
Siamun looked at the pacing lord with barely an interest. He then turned his eyes on the student as he smiled at everyone of them.
Whilst keeping an eye on the student he was planning to meet.
"Ahem." someone cleared his throat and Mahad turned halfway to face the lord, his right hand covering the microphone on the podium.
"I'm sorry, Lord Akhenaden, some nasty tickle there, would you like a glass of water?" the headmaster asked, his voice light, with every syllable dripping with sarcasm.
Akhenaden turned to look at him, arms crossed over his chest. "I'd like...a proper introduction."
The headmaster resisted the urge to roll his eyes as he obviously knew what kind of man the lord was. It was widely known as to how his son was raised.
And what methods were used to raise him.
"Why certainly, my lord." he chuckled then removed his hand from the microphone as he turned to face the students. "Students, Lord Akhenadin." he introduced the older with slight coldness in his voice before he moved aside.
The students clapped their hands politely as they watched the older man stood up on the platform, his white hair shone under the lights. And then looked towards his son was wearing an impassive look on his face.
But he knew deep inside, what his son was thinking and he wasn't ashamed to say that they think alike.
"I have an earth-shattering announcement." he told the student body. "This is my last semester of teaching before I...I mean, " he cleared his throat then continued. "before my son, Seto takes over Egypt."
As if in cue, he gestured towards his son who stood up from his seat then turned to face the crowd, his head held high, waving his right hand a little too stiffly.
"No, no," he continued as he held out both of his hands as if imagining them stopping from crying at the sudden prospect of losing him. "Hold back your tears. Master Siamun will take my classes next year…in his own little way," he gestured to the minister who was looking at him with a strange look in his eyes.
While the headmaster just rolled his eyes.
"Of course, no one knows the royal life as I do." I've lived in the palace eversince my dear brother, Pharaoh Akhenankamen and his whole family died...and has been the privilege to…"
Ryou and Marik turned to look at each with an ecstatic look in their faces. "If they died!" they exclaimed together and let out a gasp as they realized that they have said the same thing.
"You know the legend!?" they asked each other again.
Yami looked at to and from his friends, wondering what they were talking about. He was sure it was related to his country but not everything is what they seemed to be.
"What legend?" he asked the two, confused.
The Saudi prince turned to look at him, his face broken into a grin. "There's a legend that Pharaoh Akhenankamen and his family didn't all die in the accident."
Ryou nodded, also with a smile on his face. "I love how you know that legend."
They then turned back to the podium only to see that Siamun stood in the Lord's place. And that the vizier was already at the end of his speech-which they didn't hear while they were busy telling stories to each other.
Vizier Siamun smiled at the others and spoke in a clear voice. "And so...I welcome you all here to Prince Charming Academy and may your time be...magical and full of lessons." he chuckled at the end as he stepped down the platform.
The students politely clapped their hands and stopped as the headmaster stepped up again on the platform. His eyes scanning their faces and incorporating themselves in his memory.
"Alright, two lines everyone, greetings to all and everyone is excuse for bed."
The trio stayed beside each other as they walked off to greet other students from other countries. As they were walking towards the other students, Marik turned his head to look at Yami.
"Favorite legend about the Egyptian royal family." he whispered. "Go!"
Yami shook his head. "I don't know any other legends."
"You're so missing out!" the prince said as he shook his head then let out a sigh before turning to Ryou who was standing at the other side of Yami.
"Ryou, Go!"
Ryou waved at the other boys before turning to Marik with a smile on his face. "My favorite is a simple one. Egypt's Millennium Puzzle."
"Egypt's Millennium Puzzle?" Yami asked, his voice interested as to what the other had said. He then turned to face the white-haired prince. "What about i-"
And didn't notice that he had bumped onto Seto, with a long raven haired teenager standing beside him. His aura exceeding a very strong presence which made Ryou cringe under his icy gaze.
And he revelled in it then turned to Yami, his icy blue eys staring into crimson ones.
"Oh, if it isn't you." he told the shorter teen. "What a walking disaster you are."
Yami didn't speak as just looked up at Seto, not wilting under the other's gaze, his stance not changing. Marik and Ryou stood beside Yami, unsure of what to make of the situation.
The other students stared at the two teens who were obviously on a glaring contest. While Mahad and Siamun looked on, anticipating what the two would be capable of at this many witnesses.
Yami let out a sigh then looked up at Seto. "I'm sorry I bumped into you...but I'm not sorry for bruising your self-proclaimed ego."
Seto smirked, already obvious that other students were watching them but he doesn't give a care to most of them. All he cared about was doing his best and becoming the person he was meant to be.
"You've got some nerve, Yami." he told the shorter teen. "But...don't ever think that you will get away from this."
And walked away, hands in his pockets. The raven haired teenager following after him like a shadow. Ryou then let out a sigh. "He gives me the creeps."
Marik nodden then turned to Yami. "You two made quite a spectacle." he said then asked. "So...what now?"
"I don't think Seto and I would hang out much." the tri-colored teen answered.
Ryou looked at Yami and beamed. "That's okay, you can hang out with us."
Marik nodded in agreement and lightly punched Yami on the arm, making the teen turned to look at him. "Better believe it, and classes start tomorrow. I bet you can do everything he can do."
Yami nodded, determination shining in his eyes. "Yes, I can do everything he can do."
The trio went out of the auditorium, leaving behind Mahad and Siamun. The two adults who have heard the entire conversation from the two teens awhile ago.
"What do you think, Master?" Mahad asked as he turned to look at the older.
The vizier chuckled. "That Yami has some spunk in him…" he then let out a sigh. "Something that the royal court needs."
The headmaster nodded. "Yes, and I have no doubt that he will do everything he can. Although..." he broke off, unsure on how to say the next words with the older beside him.
"Although what, Mahad?" the older asked.
"Although I'm quite curious as to how he will make himself stand out in the world of royalty and nobility in which a commoner like him have no chance at all."
"You're quite right indeed." Siamun mused. "But I have no doubt that he will make a very good Lord Royal when he graduates."
