Hello, welcome back to more LoCG, as you can see we got a new cover! A Permanent one made by Bane on discord, or Shizaa Nyaana/ SNyaana on twitter. It's of The Library of Consumed gods herself Great Devourer Index! It was actually better than I imagined it to be so I'll likely edit her old description to fit it. Anyways, reviews!
Whwsms:{You don't fuck with the queen of England, unless your a badass ruler yourself.}
5had0wHand:{And it would be, your about to see why
Thank you, I hadn't used Agnese's PoV yet, so I felt I should for this. Which allowed for me to show what made this such a dangerous situation.
Elizard has shown herself to be eccentric, so it makes sense she'd enjoy a good fight. But she's also refined and honorable so she's not just out for a good fight like Thor. And thank you, I've been told battle scenes are my strong-suit.
Meh, spiritual animals/familiars, they'll get on fine on their own.
Not now though}
(almost forgot the A/N where I explained refrences, please forgive me on that) Damn only two reviews this chap, well anyways, hope you all had a great new year forgot to ask that last time. But I also hope you continue to all enjoy LoCG, with that out of the way. Remember constructive criticism is both encouraged and desired, now let this tale of an infinity commence once again!
Chapter 57
Corruption of the Library
Child of the Devourer
Awaki was still grappling with the existence of Magic. Yes she accepted it was real, kinda hard not to when it was forced into her face. Ignorance did not equate to blindness, however that did not mean she understood it.
But she could still come to understand it.
However her questions could wait, she told herself. Slipping through space to avoid a strike from a vaguely dog-like distorted figure she dare not describe. It disappeared into a crack in the sargasso before leaping out from a corner behind Awaki.
She ducked away as she observed the situation using her hypercurved perception.
A little ways away, she could see the remaining members of ITEM. They were being attacked from two fronts, Kinuhata was throwing her fists into a large segmented worm of a rotted brown-purple color. It had ant-like mandibles and a serrated maw. A large central eye on its head and the center of every semant it had.
It was made obvious why as soon as the girl's fist carved through its head before gritting her teeth in annoyance. Each segment was itself a head and would serve as the front should the current head be destroyed. It spat unnatural green flames from its jaws which were unaffected by the storm overhead.
Takitsubo and Hamazura were in conflict with a swarm of floating eyeball things and a floating tentacled brain of sorts. Every shot Hamazura took, cut through one of the eyeballs but another would take its place. The large brain would teleport all over the place as it launched a sticky corrosive yellow fluid. ^1
Disgusting really, and the two beast's entourages didn't help being similarly fleshy or rotted looking beasts. Everywhere the worm burrowed rotted purple substance would spread. Everywhere the brain's 'eyes' fell a red fleshy substance grew. And from that would grow all sorts of aberrant horrors.
Speaking of aberrant, the Railgun and her teleporter friend seemed to be having their own eyed, tentacled issues.
Three floating cyclopsian head things with tentacle eyes in place of hair fired beams of energy from their eyestalks. Their large central eyes were closed as they dodged and deflected attacks from the two. Alongside them was a group of squid faced humanoids in robes which would send energy blasts or even seem to perform telekinesis to strike the two.
Antiskill was closest to the edge of the sargasso, trying to fend against a swarm of reanimated mangled corpses. While also guarding two non-combatant civilian friends of the railgun.
Some of the corpses had blades protruding literally from their shoulders. Some had a glowing yellow sack attached to their arms. Others were just a lower body whose legs had made into wings, and tailbone into a stinger. Images would flash in Awaki's mind whenever she directed any attention at them. Two angular spikes coiling upward to converge at the tip.^2
And then there was her fellow GROUP members, Tsuchimikado and Etzali were fighting infernal looking beasts. Some floating single eyed, mouth things that spat blasts of blue fire. Red and grayish humanoids which lobbed hellish flames at them. And other weird twisted monstrosities.^3
Finally, above them seemingly guarding the distorted space which the aberrant beasts emerged from. Was a mass of invisible light, radiation and more, it didn't actively participate. Only lashing out at anything that got too close to the 'gate'.
One of those creatures attacking Tsuchimikado missed as he dodged and headed straight at Awaki. She let herself fall through space and emerge behind the creature. Its armored front didn't extend to its pink fleshy rear. So, she sent a chunk of wreckage to carve through it.
A squeal came from it and she ducked away from the distorted dog-like thing. She knew what that thing was, while its appearance didn't give much. The way it used angles and edges as gateways did.
A hound of Tindalos from the Cthulhu mythos.
However that was one of the few things which were from those stories. Everything else around her was rip straight from pop culture. Games, novels, movies and stories, the things fighting the railgun were an example she recognized.
The cyclopsian heads were Beholders, and the cthulhu faced humanoids were mind-flayer illithids. Both of which were iconic mascots of the tabletop role playing game Dungeons and Dragons.
So, Awaki at first had been confused as to what they had to do with each other.
Then it clicked, H.P. Lovecraft's greatest claim to fame wasn't his world which one could freely write about. Nor was it his infamously sick and twisted mind or even Cthulhu himself.
No
Howard Phillips Lovecraft's greatest achievement was defining a genre. That was the terrifying thought which dawned on Awaki as she had thought about it.
He had defined and founded the storytelling genre of Cosmic horror. And that's what all these things had shared; they came from worlds and stories or themselves had a major theme of Cosmic horror. Even at times directly taking elements from his own stories, or even canonically having his monsters in them.
Awaki had shivered when she figured it out, that was the true terrifying power of the magic based on his work. It branched not only into his own stories for power. But created the foundation for all cosmic horror and its power.
The ground shuddered as the rotted colored worm burst from the ground latching to Kinuhata. Its jaw opened and it belched unnatural green fire onto the girl. She screamed in pain and tore its head apart rolling down its body. The new front diving into the ground as she burned.
"Shit shit shit! this super isn't going out like normal fire!" she rolled on the ground panicking.
Hamazura fired two shots talking out more of those creepy eye things. "Kinuhata!" he shouted.
"Signal from downward northeast" Takistubo said just as the worm's head burst from the ground at that exact location. It knocked both her and Hamazura backwards towards Kinuhata as the green flames died down around her.
More of the eyeball things swarmed towards them, pinning them in place as the worm coiled its length around them slowly closing in.
Mikoto fired railgun after railgun while trying to avoid energy beams and blasts. Kuroko teleporting them every so often. The teleporter then touched a loose chunk of sargasso and it vanished. Causing one beholder to spasm before falling dead, the loss of one their kin however caused the two remaining Beholder's to open their central eye. Deprived of their abilities, Kuroko and Misaka were hit by the Mind-flayers who began trying to coil those mouth tendrils onto their heads.
A large beam of light hurtled down from the sky and vaporized a portion of the necrotic horrors attacking anti skill. A orbital satellite canon Awaki realized, had that little judgment girl with the flowers hacked it? She didn't ask why or how, but she was glad she had done it.
Roars gurgles, shrieks and cries echoed around as anti-skill gunned down some of the affronts to nature. "Aim for their Limbs!" one of the anti-skill members shouted. This caused the others to rain a hail of bullets into the mangled corpses, amputating them.
Another blast from the orbital cannon struck the hoard, thinning the numbers further. But that appeared to catch the attention of the mass of invisible light guarding the 'gate'. Its formless mass extended out and intercepted the beam. Causing it to scatter and refract, bits of energy struck the ground and hit the limbs and sides of anti-skill members.
But they were not lucky, having absorbed a majority of the beam's energy. The mass which could be none other than The color from outerspace rapidly expanded. Tendrils of invisible light waves slammed into the Antiskill members marked by the light. They instantly shriveled and died from overexposure.
Shouts of grief came from the surviving members before they were overrun by those wing-legged things. They grappled the corpses and stabbed their tailbone stingers into their foreheads. Quickly replacing their ranks with the fallen Anti-skill.
Seeing things going south, and fast. Awaki quickly intercepted one of the floating creatures on Tsuchimikado and Etzali. Quickly killing it with a chunk of the sargasso, she slipped a steering wheel into a hound of Tindalos causing it to spasm and fall dead.
"Nyah Thanks for the assist!" Tsuchimikado said, firing a few shots. "Shame I don't have a shotgun or this would be easy."
"So the sis-con still has it in him to joke, we'll need to give the others an assist as well!" Awaki stated as she slipped through space again and grabbed two chunks of metal. Distorting space around them to turn them into blades, "Etzali can you-" she began.
Eztali however had already moved, reflecting the light of Venus off the blade into the two beholders. "Already ahead of you," he stated, "pool our resources right?" he asked.
"We can't let our dislike of each other keep us from working together properly," Awaki said.
Tsuchi nodded "Nyah, I'll help ITEM, Mugino's busy dealing with the demon night parade." The spy smirked, rolling off and firing three shots before changing the cartridge. All three shots hit a segment of the rotted worm causing it to explode. A shriek came from it as it split into two worms with the second burrowing into the ground. "You go stop Misaka-chan from getting her brain eaten"
Awaki grinned, slipping through space as she appeared next to Kuroko. The rail gun had ripped the two Mind-flayers holding them apart with iron sand. "Me and your judgment friend have these guys, you help Anti-skill for a moment" Awaki stated as she shifted a chunk of sargasso through three other Illithids .
Misaka raised an eyebrow but nodded as she fired a railgun through the twisted corpses. "Good idea, that weird… thing is a mass of EM and invisible light. I think I can at least partially contain it."
Kuroko groaned but shrugged as she teleported a chunk of metal into Another mind-flayer. "As much as I hate agreeing with shotacon here, that's a good plan."
Awaki nodded back, swinging her spatially distorted metal through another two mind flayers. Then shifting a chunk of sargasso into a beholder, trying to approach with its central eye open. "Tell them to also slowly converge inland, that way we can efficiently deal with these things."
A beep from Awaki's phone and the other espers caught their attention.
"Great, reinforcements, what does that monster mean?" Misaka asked as she launched herself to Anti skill's location.
Awaki grimaced, it meant they needed to survive for at least a few more minutes before what she hoped were 3 more level fives arrived.
Along with Kuroko, Awaki and her fairly easily handled their opponents while slowly moving inland.
"This… is really getting old!" Yomikawa shouted as she shot one of those winged infector things.
Mikoto carved apart a number of the impish and hellish beasts Tsuchimikado and Etzali had been dealing with. "Really wonder how the hell people survive in zombie-apocalypse movies!"
Pulling up a marble, Kuroko teleported up while sending the sphere into a hound of tindalos. "I'm more concerned with the fact we're dealing with what amounts to actual zombies."
"Aneri I thought you said you were able to get a six wings!" Hamazura panicked and shouted as he shot four more floating eyes. "Six pack!? I never asked for a six pack!" he moaned.
"Signal north to south-west" Takisubo said as she moved to the side, sending a mind-flayer blast curving into one of the charging pink beasts.
Kinuhata grinned savagely as she smashed and shredded apart one of the impish beasts. "Super rip and tear!" she quoted as she kicked the remains into a reanimated corpse.
"I got us two six wings just now if that helps!" the flower band girl Uiharu said, smiling. She pressed a button and a hail of flaming rounds tore through the rotted fleshy hoards accompanying the worm and brain. "Don't think the Color of outer space can absorb that."
Saten clung to her friend her face pale "Why did I stupidly stick around to see how things would play out!?" she asked herself.
Five bullets were fired into the floating eyes around the big brain by Tsuchimikado. "For a massive brain, it's pretty mindless" he sneered.
Almost like it heard him the brain shrieked as the flesh on its front fell away revealing an eyed heart. Multiple illusions of it fading into view as it continued teleporting around.
The light of Venus hit multiple segments of the worm disassembling them, splitting the worm further. The new worms burrowing down before busting up to attack.
They could do this, they could hold the line!
…
Hurried footsteps passed down the streets of academy city. As a young man with the air of a delinquent, made his way back to his dorm. His friends called him trick, and he had recently been released from the reformatory a week or so ago.
He had been placed there by a judgment teleporter for exploiting and abusing the power he got from level upper. While a little peeved at the girl for nearly dropping a building on him. Trick was mostly thankful to the girl, she had been nice to him even after she beat him. And she had given him quite a bit to think about.
And boy did he think about it especially after he had fallen unconscious due to level upper.
After he had been released, he started attending school again. While he had some difficulty getting used to it. He had soon realized he understood some of the subjects and even enjoyed them. Light Physics was especially interesting to him, refraction vs reflection. How different materials interacted with photons and the different lightwaves. Heck even how gravity could bend and warp light around it.
And then, before he realized it, he had gone from a lowly level 0.
To a level 2 capable of doing his trick art which he got his name from.
Sure it got him kicked out of skill-out, but he was still on good terms with his old buds from there. With a new outlook on life and an appreciation for school and learning. Things were beginning to look up for Trick as he headed to the dorms.
Passing an alley Trick stopped, normally he'd ignore what went on in the alleyways.
But this time, something caught his eyes and he felt drawn to it.
Sitting with her legs pulled to her chest, wearing a white-gold habit. Was what appeared to be a young nun, or a girl cosplaying one. Her outfit was slightly torn and dirty, and she seemed to be crying.
Trick didn't normally go out of his way to help others, let alone strangers. But he just felt he couldn't leave this girl, "yo, you there white-gold sister!" He said slowly approaching the girl. "What are you doing alone in the middle of the city? It's gotten dangerous with all the shit going on, so curfew is in effect."
She stopped crying and looked up with unnatural purple eyes. Making Trick wonder if they were dyed or contacts. They felt… oddly alluring to him, "S…sorry, but… I'm worried for a f.. A friend" the girl blushed nervously.
Now, Trick wasn't what you'd call a good person. He was without a doubt a delinquent, and as he gazed at the girl before him. He couldn't help but notice she was very, very attractive.
Her torn outfit only highlighted her rounded, supple yet firm looking thighs and rear. Her moderate yet undoubtedly maturing chest and beautiful curves. The way the first light of morning reflected off her skin and silver hair made her look like a tattered goddess.
A few months ago, Trick would have taken advantage of this girl's vulnerable emotional state. He'd have led her away to a secluded location and had his way with her.
But now?
It'd just leave a nasty taste in his mouth, so he decided to help her. "Why is that?" he asked, helping her up.
She shifted nervously "Because I want to protect him, but I've been faced with a difficult decision. If I don't do something, I could lose him forever, but If I do do it. He'll be upset and may even hate me "
Trick sighed, he didn't expect something so heavy. He certainly wasn't a counselor but he could still give an opinion. "If you care for this friend that much, they'll understand" he tried to flash an unthreatening smile.
The girl made a face telling him his smile wasn't as friendly as he thought. But she seemed to know what he was going for as kept talking to him. "You sure? If.. If you were in my position, and had to decide between doing something one could consider monstrous and saving that… f… friend. What would you do?" it must have really been eating at her.
Taken aback, Trick thought for a moment "well, that depends." He shrugged "level with me here white-gold sister, he's not just a friend Is he?"
The girl blushed but nodded to him "Y… yeah… he's everything to me."
Trick bit his lip, then sighed "to be honest? If they were that important to me. I'd be willing to do anything to keep them safe. As, I can't make it up to them if they are dead," he looked away pensively.
Maybe he could talk to that judgment girl, thank her for arresting him. Yeah, that would be good, buy her something, get her a nice meal.
The purple eyed girl instantly brightened up, "You're right! I can't let some difficult decisions keep me from protecting the one I love!" She hugged Trick "Thank you! You've really helped me!"her words of gratitude shocked Trick.
The girl's stomach growled right after causing her to blush and a shiver to run down trick's spine. Why would he be scared of this girl? Shaking his head he sighed "you sound hungry want something to eat?" he asked.
The girl nodded sheepishly, "I'd really appreciate it if you could fill me up."
Something about the way she looked at him while saying that creeped Trick out. But he passed it off as his imagination. "Yeah, yeah sure, I'll feed you all you want," he stated as he turned around to exit the alley. "Follow me," he said as the girl approached behind him.
"Thank you," the girl said from behind him "I won't forget you, Trick."
Trick froze before whipping around, only two types of people knew that name. His friends, and his enemies, and this girl wasn't either so ho-
All thoughts of his were cut off as the girl's jaws latched onto his hand.
…
Index felt her teeth carve into the delinquent boy Trick's hand. A surge of power flowed from him into her as she did so. He screamed and flailed, punching and pulling trying to throw her off. His swings didn't even cause Index to blink as she looked into Trick's eyes.
He pulled a knife out and attempted to cut her. But the blade merely rebounded harmlessly off her. Fear filled his face and Index felt her heart rate slowly increasing. He tugged and pulled trying to tear his hand from her jaws. Was he trying to escape, run away, she was curious.
"Shit! Fuck! Shit! The fuck is wrong with you you twisted bitch!? What have you done to my ability!?" Trick shrieked in horror. Kicking, punching "I can't feel it! Get… get off of MEEEE!" he struggled violently, despite it being useless.
Index pushed him down onto the ground, she released his hand and pinned his arms and legs down. "Trick, please! don't make this any harder for me than it is," she was confused by Trick. Didn't he know he couldn't change his fate? "You already agreed to fill me up, so please… stop fighting me."
Why did he think he could escape her? These questions filled Index's mind as he continued struggling. "Fuck you! This isn't what I fucking meant!" Trick turned his head and shouted down the alley . "HELP THIS CANNIBALISTIC PSYCHO BITCH IS EATING MEEE!" before his eyes went wide in shock.
People were walking right past the alleyway in clear view of them. But no one even glanced their way. Heck, some who looked right at them didn't even seem to notice what was happening. Sweat formed on Trick's brow as he realized this, he began to hyperventilate as well.
Index tilted her head, why did he think someone would save him? They wouldn't Index had cut this alley off from the rest of the world. So unless Index herself allowed it, no one would ever notice he was in here.
Did he believe he had a chance to live? She was confused still, what did Trick possibly think could change that'd allow him to survive?
Slowly turning to look at Index, his face covered in sweat, hopeless fear in his dead eyes. Trick opened his mouth "P…please don't eat me," he whimpered.
Index froze, her heart-rate spiked as she felt something rise inside her. Slowly getting up, she let go of tricks shoulders and stepped back. Allowing the young man to run away.
Relief filled Trick's face despite his bleeding hand, he scrambled to his feet. Turning to the alley entrance he began to run, hope filled him as he got closer. But just as he was about to step out of the alleyway.
Index grinned sadistically
She leapt forward, slamming Trick's face into the pavement of the alley. Her heart beat rapidly as she flipped him over. Renewed terror and fear filled his eyes as Index's mouth watered. Struggling and flailing he tried to throw her off of him knowing it was useless.
Index licked her lips, a broad smile on her face as she grabbed his injured hand. Biting down, she tore his arm off, the scream from Trick made her blood rush. Dropping his arm into her jaws she chewed a bit before swallowing.
He desperately punched at her face with his remaining hand but it did nothing. Index giggled as she placed Trick's head into her mouth. It disappeared past her lips without so much as a bulge on Index's cheek. Space inside was distorted making it larger to those inside. Trick's remaining arm grabbed a metal ladder in a vain attempt to pull himself out. A new feeling had begun to fill every part of Index, as she felt heat rise inside her.
Pleasure
Pleasure of the hunt
Pleasure of the fear in her prey's eyes as she cut off their escape.
Pleasure as her prey desperately struggled to escape her.
Pleasure of her prey's cries for mercy as they pleaded to be spared.
Pleasure of knowing she held her prey's life in her jaws.
The culmination of it all resulted in pure ecstasy
Index felt trick's every movement, he kicked her jaws and screamed as he tried to get out. She could taste his blood as it leaked from his missing shoulder. It was a salty rusted taste, the same kind of taste she got when she devoured Othinus.
Prying his hand from the ladder she sucked it into her mouth. Trick cried, shouted and whimpered, begging her to release him as he beat against her teeth. Index's hands snapped to cover her face as she realized she had been smiling.
The pathetic pitiful struggles of the mortal Trick only furthered Index's enjoyment. She rolled him around her jaws swaying her head side to side. She giggled at how foolish he was as she listened to his desperate cries and pleas.
Did he really think she'd let him out? Every shift, every shout and kick, only made it more amusing to her. All his efforts were pointless and yet he continued to try despite it. Every time she rolled him towards her throat, the mortal's cries would become shrieks of horror.
No
Not yet
She wasn't done yet!
She needed more
She wanted more
The Magic gods never gave this kind of pleasure. They were too dulled to their emotions to feel proper fear. Hunting them was the only thing that was enjoyable as she could wield her power more freely. Actually catching them and consuming them held no enjoyment.
No, this was different, this was a similar kind of pleasure she felt when she had eaten Othinus. Her desperate screams and cries, her begs and pleas of mercy. Her whimpers of terror, her sighs of defeate. Every last moment, Index knowing full well her prey could do nothing to fight back.
Back then it was revenge, but now?
It was becoming an addiction, she could feel Trick trying to force his way past her lips. So, deciding to humor him for a moment. Index allowed his remaining hand to slip out, just so she could use her finger to push it back in slowly. He screamed and grabbed at her finger but she pulled it out. Giggling Index began tilting her head back, before deciding to swallow.
Trick's struggles continued even as he slid down her throat. She could feel him and it tickled, he wriggled, writhed, and pushed. Before finally, he went limp, the last drop of fight used up as he finally accepted his fate.
Power filled Index, and not just any type of power, an entire phase. A small phase for sure, but it still proved Index's theory.
Personal realities weren't just similar to phases.
Personal realities and phases were the exact same thing.
Eating espers would be way more efficient than eating gods. Yeah she still needed to eat more than one, but it'd be consistent.
Better yet, the enjoyment she got from eating espers, utterly dwarfed that of eating a god. Standing there panting she for a moment imagined Touma struggling in her jaws. She Imagined it was Touma sliding down her throat crying out to her.
Drool began to fall from her lips before she froze. Her heart was beating erratically, heat filled her cheeks and her body was twitching.
No!
Touma was completely off limits, she would never eat Touma. No matter how desperate she got, no matter how pleasurable her human's despair would be.
She
Would
Never
Eat
Touma
She loved Touma, she loved him, and she would protect him because of that. So, she would never eat Touma, if she did. Then she'd be destroying the one thing she cared about most. By eating Touma and assimilating his soul, she'd be unable to speak to him again. Yes, technically his body, mind, and soul would be made part of her. But as lovely as such a perfect union would be, it wouldn't be perfect to her. Touma would cease to be Touma, and merely be another facet of herself.
For that reason, she would never eat Touma, not when it meant she'd lose him.
Shaking her head, Index pushed herself off the alleyway wall. Leaving in search of her next victim, Index thought to herself.
Were the emotions she had felt eating Trick really hers? Likely not, it likely originates from one of the gods she ate. But she no longer cared, she had already come to her conclusion on that.
If she felt them, they were her emotions, they were part of her.
It scared her a little, but if it allowed her to protect her Touma.
She'd even go so far as to eat every damn esper in academy city.
Besides, she was still hungry.
Espers may be more efficient, but she would still need about 2-3 more. She just wouldn't waste any energy absorbing their phases.
Skipping happily down the road towards district 10 to find her prey. Index giggled, licking her lips as the blood in the alley, which were the last remaining signs of Trick remained, vanished.
…
Leaping away from a large tan demonic looking humanoid with a weird gun on one arm. Awaki landed behind it and grabbed its heart, throwing it to the side as the creature fell dead. She ducked away as a hound of Tindalos leapt at her, landing on top of a Mindflayer who she kicked inside of a beholder. The two organisms flailed about falling dead due to their organs finding themselves inside each other.
Falling through space, she landed next to Tsuchimikado. "So, what's our situation?" Awaki asked as she pushed a chunk of metal into a floating triangular rotted brownish-purple multi-eyed creature with small mandibles and jaws.
"I've been conserving my ammo so I'm currently doing fine. However," he glanced over at a streak of orange light a ways off. "I suspect Miss Railgun is gonna need to reload nyah~." He smirked firing a bullet before ducking out of the way letting Awaki slip a chunk of wreckage into a large obese looking man thing with flamethrower arms. "Think you could give her these?" Tsuchimikado said, slipping her a bag of arcade coins.
Deciding not to question why he had them, Awaki took the bag. "Will do," before turning around and handing the bag to Misaka on the opposite side of the battlefield.
Distance, direction, such things were easily manipulated in hyper curved space. Awaki could walk up a staircase in a building and end up in the basement. She could round the corner in an alley and step out into a farm. She could look at a sealed container and grab the object inside.
Before she had been limited by her three dimensional perception. Yes she could teleport objects but she couldn't choose how they appeared. Now she could choose to view things from a higher plane, a non-euclidean perception. From one position she could see the whole battlefield. Every movement and every action, she could see every side of an object and touch it.
It was truly a terrifying power
Seeing the bag in Awaki's hands Misaka snatched it as she manipulated some iron-sand to carve apart a few small fast moving gray corpse things that almost looked like children. "Thanks," a number of metal nails were ripped out of the sargasso and handed to Awaki. "Get those to Kuroko I think she's running out," she stated before firing a strike of electricity at one of those shrieking corpse things with the yellow sack. Causing them to explode and rip apart a number of the other creatures around them.
Awaki sighed but nodded "right," she stated before falling backwards. Holding her hand out she gave Kuroko the nails as they fell through the air. "You sure look like you're having a good time" she snarked.
"Oh ha ha!" Kuroko groaned, grabbing the nails, she teleported two into the segments of the worm thing while placing the rest onto her belts.
Awaki snickered as she pushed a metal panel into a beholder attempting to attack them from behind. They landed on the ground and Kuroko teleported a few nails into one of the flying corpse things before sending a bent chunk of sargasso into one of the floating red one eyed things.
"Anti-skill could use an assist if you're available," Kuroko noted as Awaki pulled a piece of twisted metal into a weird flesh centipede.
"Got it!" Awaki rounded a corner and ducked next to Yomikawa just avoiding a blast of green fire from a weird rotted jaw thing. "Heard you needed a bit of help?" she asked Yomikawa who bit her lip.
"Unfortunately, yes and you've really been the biggest hitter here." She pointed at a large hulking corpse beast with armored plating. "A number of the corpses merged into that and began killing some of our men." She gestured to the armored shoulder bladed corpse. "Think you can take it out for us?" Yomikawa asked as her men fired at the other reanimated corpses.
"Absolutely," Awaki grinned as the hulking corpse began pawing at the ground with a bloated armored hand. "Before it charges even," slipping through space again she landed on top of it and shoved a large chunk of wreckage through it.
The creature fell as its front half spazmed and began trying to charge forward. However awaki slipped through space and shoved two sheets of metal through the yellow flesh between its shoulders. It roared and fell unable to move and became still, as awaki slipped away back to Yomikawa.
"You got things from here?" she asked as Yomikawa and anti-skill began pushing back the creatures.
Yomikawa nodded as she shot a large mouthed, fleshy humanoid thing down. "Yep," she then pulled a number of gun magazines out. "I've been hearing quite a few gunshots from Hamazura get these to him alright"
Sighing, Awaki rolled her eyes "fine, I'll play courier for you as well," before falling through space again. Rolling to her feet and knocking a creepy crawling hand thing into a segment of one of the big rotted worm things. Awaki threw the Magazines "Oi! ITEM Lacky!" she shouted.
Hamazura caught them and fired another shot at the floating brain. "It's Hamazura!" he shouted before swapping the cartridge. "Takisubo!" he cried out as one of the worms burst up in front of him.
"Signal redirected to south-southeast," his girlfriend stated. A ray of energy curved from a beholder's eyestalk and hit the worm petrifying it. She then ducked away from a number of rays shot by the beholder. Each hit a different creature but all had the result of death. Be it by just falling over dead, disintegration or otherwise.
"This thing is Suuper annoying!" Kinuhata shouted as she punched another segment of the worm causing it to split yet again. "AAARRRGHHH!"
Her lapse of concentration allowed one of the worm's tails to smack her away. She crashed into a group of the twisted corpses and was grabbed by a lanky one with mangled arms and sharp nails. Its torso seemingly broken down and dissolved at the front by acid, a third leg bent behind it. It attempted to vomit bile over her face but instead it and the ones around it were torn apart by Kinuhata in a rage.
"Hey, think you could get the judgment chick to spare us a six-wings?" Hamazura asked as he fired a few bullets into the worm's heads and one into the big, brain thing. He jumped back and fired into a long nailed corpse thing with a beak like head. "Cause, we could really use the help!" Hamazura grimaced.
Awaki kicked a shoulder-bladed corpse into the beholder from earlier, causing the two intersecting creatures to die. "I'll see what I can do I guess," she rolled her eyes. As she used a wooden panel to bisect a cybernetic humanoid thing with a gun-like arm and a metal indent in its abdomen.
Leaping over a weird crawling corpse with legs fused into a spine-tail and fanged teeth. Awaki landed next to Uiharu "hey, the delinquent Hamazura requested six wings, got any to spare?" she asked.
A set of bullets rained down onto a group of those mangled corpses and pale twisted humanoids. Grinning Uiharu chuckled "I can do better, I can spare him 3," she pressed a button.
"3? You only had 3, why are you giving him them all?" Awaki asked as she threw a marble through space and into a hound of Tindalos.
"Because of this," Uiharu said, on cue a series of green beams struck the ground carving through a number of the opposing forces. Before cutting down a large creature made of multiple bodies with blackened flesh. Large fanged pincers roared out in pain as the thing was torn apart.
A Large spherical machine with large tentacle-like tubes with lenses on the end. On its side were a set of words that'd cause Hamazura to feint.
"One FIVE_Over Meltdowner!" Uiharu declared with a smug grin. Using the device to destroy another group of monsters
Okay, this girl was exceedingly impressive, Awaki was shocked the darkside never tried to take her. "Okay… well you've definitely got this handled." She turned to Saten, "want me to get you out of here?" she asked.
The black haired girl took a breath and shook her head. "No, as stupid as it is, I want to see this to the end… I've got faith in you guys." She smiled, as Awaki reached thought space and tore the heart out of a Mindflayer.
Awaki shrugged and spun around kicking a loose chunk of sargasso up, sending it into a large flaming horned humanoid. "Eztali I see you've been doing well," she said to the Aztec magician. Noting the carnage of bodies and shredded creatures.
He made a face "Well… this wasn't me, Elizard and some weird Norwegian guy passed by fighting." He pointed to the carnage "It just saved me time, think you could redirect my attack" he gestured upward with his eyes at a group of beholders.
Awaki grinned "on it!" she said, Etzali bent the obsidian knife at the first beholder. It was disassembled instantly, but before the others could open their central eyes awaki teleported a group of mirror shards directly into the path of the light.
This caused it to scatter and hit all the beholders disassembling them. "Right, this place is good for now, anywhere that needs assistance?" he asked.
"The sis con could use a little more help, he's kinda on hi-" she began before shouting was heard.
"UIHARU LOOK OUT!" Saten cried out causing their eyes to snap over to them.
The Color from Outerspace had noticed the FIVE_Over and apparently realized Uiharu was controlling it. Its formless mass took a narrow spearlike form and launched forward.
Awaki wasn't able to move in time before Yomikawa leapt in the way with her large shield.
Slamming into the shield, the Color from Outerspace launched Yomikawa back. But she was unharmed and the Color even recoiled as if in agony.
Yomikawa's eyes widened and she leapt forward again smacking her shield against it.
A spasm as the color retreated back from her.
"How is she doing that!?" Eztali asked in shock.
Awaki threw a chunk of metal inside of a mind flayer that had popped up. "I'm not sure, what's her shield made of?" Awaki asked into a ear-com.
"Lead-nyah" Tsuchimikado answered, "I heard she used it to protect Kami-yan against one of Celt's attacks."
Awaki nearly facepalmed "Of course! Lead is used as shielding against electromagnetic radiation!" She grinned savagely as she grabbed metal from the sargasso, "The Color from Outerspace is a mass of Invisible light! IT CAN'T HANDLE LEAD!"
"You heard her boys!" Yomikawa shouted, "fill that thing with lead!" She changed her cartridge and fired into the color.
Shouts of confirmation came from the other Anti Skill as some focused their aim at the Color from Outerspace.
They were doing well, but they couldn't keep this up forever.
"Running out of ammo over here!" Tsuchimikado called as they were pushed closer together.
Yomikawa reloaded as she defended against the Color. "Same here, I think we all are running low on ammo."
"Damn it! Where are those reinforcements?" Misaka shouted as she tore a chunk of sargasso out and slammed it onto a group of reanimated corpse things.
"Taking their sweet time that's where onee-sama" Kuroko groaned as she teleported a few needles into a beholder.
The light of venus hit an illithid and then another large demon-thing. "There is not enough lead, the Color is regaining its strength!"
"Aneri think you could take some of those necro-dudes out?" Hamazura asked before a hail of bullets tore away a group of mangled corpse things. "Aneri says the six-wings are running low as well!"
"FIVE_Over's running low on power as well!" Uiharu grimaced "And I can't use its lasers without risking the Color taking advantage."
Awaki grimaced and bit her lip, at this rate they would lose, where the hell were those reinforcements?
"Hyper, Mega, Ultra Extreme Super Ultra, Hyper again PUUUNNNCH!" the most sentai sounding attack name was cried out as a blast of energy tore through a number of the opposing forces.
A set of white angelic wings caught the rays of sunlight and turned a group of beholders to sand.
Landing in front of the regathering mangled corpses, a spiky blackhaired boy wearing a headband with a jacket fluttering on his shoulders like a cape, stood. He had a rising sun t-shirt and he grimaced looking at the walking alien dead.
"Using the bodies of the opponents to renew your ranks is the most gutless thing I could ever see!" Sogitta Gunha, academy city's number 7 stated, as he pulled his fist back, "Leave the dead be already!"
A boy with pale snow white skin and hair with green eyes landed with six angelic wings on his back. "I'm not going to question what you're talking about," he sighed, turning to the others. "You needed reinforcements I heard?" he asked.
A few bullets whizzed by and hit the heads of the rotted worm as it rose from the ground. "Yep nyah," Tuschimikado said as he spun around and fired another few bullets.
Awaki slipped a pane of glass through a beholder before slipping it through the big brain thing. Only to find it was just one of the many illusory ones, "What about the number 6?" she asked.
Kakine leapt upwards and sent a number of dark matter chunks out. They clung to a large armored brain-scorpion thing, forming into dark matter beetles which began attacking the creature. "You find that guy, and you can get him to come," Kakine groaned as the creature fell.
Yomikawa intercepted another attack from the Color, "well either way, you two seem to be good enough." She made a solemn expression, "I really wish you children weren't part of this."
Kuroko teleported a number of nails into the worm which was reduced to only a few segments now before teleporting a lead object into the color. "I already told you, this is our home too, you're not gonna stop us from fighting when we can."
Hamazura aimed and fired at one of the brain-images and the thing let loose a shrill cry before falling down dead. "She's still dealing with what happened in Handcuffs," he noted.
Takitsubo ducked back as an Ilithid went to grab her and rolled to the side letting Aneri's six-wings shoot it full of holes. "Signal from north northwest," she stated as Hamazura fired another few rounds.
Etzali grimaced as he reflected the light of Venus again, Awaki putting a few mirrors forward to aid him. "Handcuffs affected us all, I highly doubt her desire to keep children safe is gonna stop those very children who took part in that operation from fighting now."
"Hey! Second ranked!" Misaka shouted "Think you can take out that weird EM thing?" she asked. "Just trying to slow it down makes my head hurt!"
Kakine's wings carved through a number of different creatures as he thought looking around. "I probably could, what do I need to do?" he asked.
Uiharu was now riding the FIVE_Over when she responded. "Can you use Dark Matter to mimic lead or something that stops EM waves?" she narrowed her eyes at him.
Looking at her with a guilty expression Kakine nodded "I can do that, and give it the attributes of a faraday cage."
"Then do that! and get rid of the damn Color from Outerspace!''There was clearly some history between the two. "As for Sogitta…" she glanced over "yeah he's good doing what he's doing."
"If you Super mean, taking out an undead eldritch flesh hoard?... I super agree." Kinuhata grinned as she punched through the final few segments of the worm.
Awaki teleported an object through a number of the shoulder bladed corpses as they gathered. She wasn't gonna let them gather into a larger beast of any kind.
Kakine's wings emerged and he leapt into the air meeting the color head on. It kept trying to target Uiharu, and Yomikawa, but the new threat attracted its attention.
"With it off my back," Uiharu grinned, "I can use all my resources!" before tapping a few keys. The lenses on the FIVE_Over immediately rotated around on their tube-tentacles and fired beams of energy to carve through the battlefield.
"Amazing Puuuuuunch!" Sogitta shouted another attack like he was in a sentai. He was even accompanied by sentai explosions as he tore through a large amalgam of flesh bone and sores. It shrieked and roared before collapsing.
However it was still twitching when a beam of light struck down from the heavens as an orbital laser was fired.
Kakine had grappled the Color using his darkmatter. It was unable to escape and rapidly vanished due to the properties of the material. However, it still seemed to cause Kakine trouble as he tried to avoid its attacks.
The last of the aberrant horrors fell, leaving only the Color. Kakine's grip slipped as he ducked too far and the color attempted to charge straight into the energy beams of the FIVE_Over.
But Yomikawa swung her shield directly into it, finishing the thing off.
Collapsing to her knees, Yomikawa panted exhausted, along with other members of Anti-skill.
They weren't all, Tsuchimikado, Kuroko, anyone who had been present for the battle against Celt were exhausted. The sun was peeking over the horizon now, they didn't have much time now.
"We don't have much time to rest," Kakine said as Sogitta nodded.
"Yep! I saw a seal coated girl with immense icy guts fighting a big mangled centar-horse thing. But she could use some help!" the number 7 shouted with a grin.
Uiharu was scratching her head looking at her computer typing every so often. "Um.. you mean the Selkie?" she asked.
"Maybe," Kakine stated "there's also the group dealing with that demon night parade."
Yomikawa forced herself to stand, "I… Won't let any child fight on their own, especially one who helped us against Celt… and Animire." She looked at Kakine "think you could get us some ammo?"
"I can make it, don't underestimate my darkmatter," he grinned.
Uiharu paled "Um guys! The spatial anomaly hasn't gone in fact" she gulped "It's collapsing in on itself!"
All eyes turned to the northwest towards Tokyo. A black sphere began growing in the air where the spatial distortion was located.
"I'm not detecting any gravitational anomalies?" sweat ran down Uiharu's brow.
The entire area shook as shouts were heard, a light appeared in the black sphere as it opened up. Bursting out as its long body shot into the sky above them, a long familiar serpentine shape flew.
Bullets flew as attacks were launched, but they all seemed to miss despite hitting the segments. Rotating above them it clicked and hissed its mandibles as its eyes gazed at them.
Awaki had already killed it once, or so she thought.
It was not from any story or myth in culture.
It was purely a creation of Index herself.
Its form was similar to the devourer herself.
A large worm-like beast with armored segments and vibrant purple energy coursing through it. Large electric blue mandibles shaped like lightning bolts attached to slate gray armor that covered every segment of its body. Every segment having backward facing spikes and a large vibrant purple crystal in the center. A smaller crystal in its tail, tipped off with an electric blue spike shaped like a twister coiling backwards.
It whipped to the side avoiding a strike from Kakine as he tried to carve into it with darkmatter. Rearing back like a cobra as it went to make its own strike.
Awaki's eyes widened as she went to shout, "This one's different! don't let it-" but she was too late.
Large jaws clamped around Kakine and he shrieked before it dove. Crashing into the sargasso it caused a vibrant purple shockwave sending everyone back. Awaki slipped away and tried to strike it despite the light.
But a delicate child-like hand grabbed her head and slammed her into the ground. Splinters and shrapnel flew as Awaki's mind blanked in confusion.
"Hey hey! Don't think Mommy was gonna leave me that pathetic creature!" a girl's voice was heard as Awaki was thrown to the side. "I'm still developing okay?" a giggle echoed out from the crater.
Emerging from the crater, the tail of the creature vanished into the purple light fading behind her.
A girl of around 12 stepped forward, she had long magenta hair that trailed for about 2.5 meters behind her tied into a hair clip that resembled the worm's tail. Reddish purple eyes accompanied by a smug grin with sharp fangs. Wearing an armored headdress that resembled the worm's armored mandibles. And chest, leg and arm plates that looked like the worm's plated segments. Each holding a large purple gem inside, black blue clothing could be seen underneath as the girl giggled.
"I'm Rift Weaver! and I've decided mommy's being too easy on you guys!"
The Child of the Devourer
A/N: Weaver was based on Terraria calamity's boss by the same name, well Storm Weaver but same kinda diff. Her human form is more based on the Kerubii art of said boss.
I really had her bully Misaka and Kinuhata didn't I?
^1: Terraria's corruption and crimson bosses the Eater of Worlds and Brain of Cuthulhu respectively, with a few modifications.
^2: Deadspace Necromorphs, may be obvious not sure
