(amended: soo... apparently I can only have one poll on my profile at a time. So, this week will be the current one... next week will be the next one... sorry for any confusion this isn't an update)
Craytherlay;( Welcome back to another round of LoCG, this chap is another hard worked one between me and Dragonrails. So, be sure to check him out, even if he's not updated in like 100 years XD. Last chapter things began to get interesting did they not? Well because of the nature of that chap, some of these reviews will be co-responded to by my bud Rails. Specifically the parts relating to Ollerus's speech and KnT… maybe any of the things people say on the Index scene.
Shall we?
Whwsms:{Indeed, Touma's had that illusion long enough, It was about time It get shattered utterly and completely. KnT was fairly interesting to write here because of what he is. While he's technically in a sense Touma, he's Touma as a sociopath.
I mean… I wasn't trying to sink Dem ships, just point out why no matter how hard they try. None of the other girls could reach the level Othinus did. Sure they could end up with him, but it will never be with him in the way Othinus was. They will always keep secrets, always have something they were let down by or disappointed by. And the loss of Othinus is one thing that cannot be stressed enough as a big deal for how it would affect Touma.
Yes, you can be sure Index eating Espers is gonna have an effect. Especially the high level ones, not to mention the fact there's at least three people who were friends with her there. The board's nuke would only make things worse for themselves. XD}
Darkmatter69:{No probs, no one's obligated to review, but they are appreciated.
Well, we will see, but I'm sure we all know the answer to that.}
5haw0Hand:{Whoah…. Lengthy review… let's get a move on then
He's been through a lot, give Gunha a break. But in serious nature, I wrote that scene asking myself how each character would be affected by it. I mean, Misaka was nearly eaten… twice. And poor Kinuhata was eaten, so they'd probably have at least some trauma. And considering the nature of Weaver, and what she is, of course Gunha's gonna be utterly devastated that his Guts didn't help him nearly enough.
Again with the sinking of ships, but I see what you mean. I tried my best to keep personal bias out and speak purely from a stance of facts in the series. I didn't want to make any of the ships seem less, just express why the level of relationship would never reach the kind Touma and Othinus shared. But Yeah… roasted Misaka pretty hard… I think I may be a Misaka sadist.
Index is a god, she doesn't care whatever your rules are. She is beyond petty mortal laws now, she will use every trick in the box to win Toumas heart! XD. Fool, you think the almighty Blau doesn't already know?
Shame indeed, but I had to keep things balanced you know. Sphinx is too OP even for Devourerdex ;^)
KnT is quite an ass isn't he, but I'll let Rails respond to this one.}
Guest:{Was it worth the wait? Cause more is coming right up. Glad you liked the KnT reveal, cause yes… this was planned.}
Kean2004:{I'm honestly shocked that Roasting of the enter Shipping base has been so well received. I mean, I did try too keep my biases in check. But I think it's clear that it didn't work out as well as I hoped. There's more where that came from, but once again. I'll let Rails expand on this.}
D. :{the signs were there since before chap 32. I've been building up to this, KnT and Touma's powers are something I've been eager to tackle and give my own spin on. So… I hope you're ready to see me playing with the Dragonfire.
Well actually by now she knows a bit about science, the issue with Kazakiri is. She's a very… niche and unique form that she'd never have gotten the chance to obtain knowledge for. No matter how many espers she eats or books on relativity she reads. Yes, yes she's made of AIM. But well… this chapter should give more of an explanation to that.})
DragonRails;( Hey readers DragonRails here not sure if you readers were aware or not but I've been helping Cray here since chapter 20, It's been quite the adventure with helping him with ideas and character development believe me I feel like an unknown hero at times haha with the amount of times I've had to stop Cray from writing a long rant about some characters anyways I just wanted to put in my two cents on something I feel should address, so from what I've seen there seemed to be a bit discomfort with the Index scene, and I only wanted to mention that me and Cray were really really really debating on how far to take the Index scene would've gone for about a week and a half straight especially since to me I really only saw her as a cute little sister nun, so it was a bit hard to get into writing that part but it really seemed to fit the situation in the story.
Also a bit of fun fact about Cray, he does NOT understand the horror genre….like at all to the point where i felt insulted. so I've had to literally make the man watch some horror movies just so he could get a better idea on his horror scenes, but he's gotten better on them far cry from seeing the original believe me.
so overall I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, take it from me there's a lot more to come.
Whwsms:{Not going to lie I really wished I could've grabbed Cray through the screen only because he took Ollerus's speech as a way to rant about the other ships, and the amount of times I've had to mute him on discord for it,, for real ask him how MANY TIMES! I've had to!, but I added my two cents into it so it was interesting to see that you saw it that way}
5had0wHand:{ I hope I answered your review as best I could, to be honest I felt the same as I wrote it but at the same time I took it as a challenge}.
Kean2004:{you're review made me laugh seeing as I have to get lit myself as I edit and give ideas for this story, as for sinking the ships Crays idea was "how to sink every other ship with just words alone without sounding too bias?" Me and Cray felt that his speech was a big climax for that chapter.} )
Craytherlay;(Wow… bit harsh there, I get I said you didn't update in 100 years but really… that wasn't my idea at all with the Ollerus speech. I was actually ranting because I didn't want to to be a destroy all ships.)
Anyways remember constructive criticism is both encouraged and desired even if it's about how shitty your lack of watching horror movies is. And with that out of the way, let this tale of an infinity commence once again.
Chapter 63
Resolve of the Dragon
Wrath of the angel
Hurried footsteps echoed through an ally as a young telekinetic esper desperately knocked objects over, to slow her pursuer.
Index giggled casually walking as she chased the girl. They were the last one, after she ate her Index wouldn't need to refuel for a while. "Hey, Hey! Do you really think you can escape?" she asked. "you know I'll catch you eventually right?" Index taunted. She enjoyed the look of fear on the girl's face, the desperate attempts to slow her down, only to realize they were pointless.
The girl tripped and fell face first onto the pavement as she tried to round a corner. Before she could scramble to her feet, Index's foot pressed against her back. Keeping her from escaping. Clawing at the ground the girl struggled. "P-please! I-I don't know who you are, but please don't eat me! I swear I won't tell anyone what I saw!" the girl cried out.
"This isn't about what you saw," Index said leaning forward.
Squirming, the girl turned her head, tears pouring down her face. "I… I have a brother I need to take care of, please!" she pleaded with The Great Devourer.
Index paused for a moment at that, but shook her head. "Sorry, but I can't. I'm hungry and need energy. You just happened to be there," she looked at the girl with pity. It was a shame really, the girl had been at the wrong place at the wrong time. If she hadn't been there, Index would have likely eaten another few delinquents instead. But she had presented herself as an easy and energy-potent meal to top off her tank. "If you want, I can make this painless for you, even pleasurable," she offered the girl.
A sigh as the girl stopped struggling. "N-no… just… spare my brother please…" she said, shaking.
"Okay… I won't eat your brother the next time I need to refuel," Index said lifting the girl off the ground.
As the girl closed her eyes accepting her fate, Index brought her to her mouth. After this, she wouldn't need to eat for a while, she could protect Touma for at least a few decades.
Just as her jaws closed around the girl's head however. Touma's voice cried out from within Index. "IIIINNNNNNDEEEEEEEEEEEEEX!" he shouted, causing Index to pause. Her heart rate increased as excitement built in her. Had Touma changed his mind? Had he decided to accept her love and make her, his?
Manifesting her avatar within her. Index leapt towards her human. "Touma! you changed your mind!" she shouted excitedly. Opening her eyes she froze. Standing before her, fist clenched, blue and yellow fibers emerging from pink and green cracks along his body, was Touma. There were no signs of the chains she had bound him in. Yet, when his head rose, Index found her face flush red with her heart pounding.
The look in his eyes was the one he had when he fought for his beliefs. It was the same one that he gave Othinus during their fight, no matter what she did to him. A defiant glare he gave his opponents as a sign of his resolve. Index had seen this look before, but never had she been on the receiving end. Even Kanzaki had been given this glare, and Index was jealous of her because of it.
She loved that look, and knew why Othinus found it hot. The hardened gaze made him look like the warrior Othinus always saw in him. It brimmed with determination, a trait which embodied his heroic nature. Yet, still retained the underlying kindness beneath his furious facade. Index may have the memories of Othinus, but she had never experienced that gaze herself.
And she wanted more, what other sides of Touma had she yet to experience? What looks could he send her way that he hadn't before? She wanted to see all of them, his happiness and despair, his grief and anger, his love and his hatred. She wanted to see all of him, to prove she could surpass even Othinus's understanding of him.
"Index!" her human repeated, "I won't let you destroy your chances at a normal life anymore!" Touma clenched his fists.
Index blinked in shock, "N-normal life?" she asked, tilting her head. Her heart clenched in pain, "I… I never had a normal life before you… Touma." she looked up, her eyes shaking. "You… are my normal life Touma! Without you, there's nothing normal left for me!"
Touma gave her a stern glare, "Index-" he began.
"E... even if it's not normal! At least I'd still have you in my world Touma!" her heart beat heavily as she felt her lip quivering. "I can still have my normal!"
She couldn't go back anymore, she had come too far to stop. Doing so would make everything she had worked for. All the lives she had taken, Othinus, Nuada and the other Magic god's, Trick and Junko's, for naught. It'd be an insult to their sacrifice if she just stopped now and returned things to normal.
Not when she could use the power they gave her to give a normal happy life to the one person who deserved it the most.
Touma
"It doesn't matter," Touma stated. A crackling came from his body as the fibers began to wrap around his arms and legs. "I'm not about to let you become a monster for me. Not when you're sacrificing the very thing you said you'd protect," he said, preparing to charge her.
At that moment Index's attention was brought back to the outside world as a foot slamming into her face. It launched her into an empty building which collapsed, burying her in rubble.
She had been so distracted by Touma she had forgotten her surroundings. Normally that wouldn't be an issue. There were very few beings who could even affect her right now.
In fact, there was only one she could think of that might attack her. A certain albino boy came to mind. Irritated, she caused the rubble around her to be torn apart as she stood.
"Are you going to get in my way of protecting Touma too… ACCELERATOR!" she cried out as she looked forward.
Floating just above the ground where he had hit her. White jets of energy bursting out from his back. Was the number one himself, he spat to the side and glared. "I don't fucking care what excuse you have for eating espers," he began. "But theres no fucking way in hell I'm going to let you eat my students Eh! INDEX!" The number one shouted at the top of his lungs as the wings flapped sending in forward.
…
Kanzaki blinked in shock, staring at where Accelerator had flown off.
As soon as Kazakiri had said Index was eating espers. Accelerator had instantly taken off in a fury.
However the question of why Index was eating them remained. Turning slowly, Kanzaki opened her mouth but another voice beat her to her question.
"Why is the silver sister eating espers!?" Misaka asked in abject horror.
Kazakiri bit her lip, "I'm not sure… their personal realities, maybe?" Misaka and her friends helped the artificial angel sit down as she answered their question.
Kanzaki shook her head, "That doesn't make any sense! She eats phases! Not esper powers!" It confused her, why would Index go from eating gods and phases. To just espers and personal realities?
"Remember, personal realities are phases." Celt crossed her arms as she reminded Kanzaki.
Uiharu looked confused, "what do you mean? Espers aren't magic, we develop our power through scientific principles and experimentation."
"That's what Aliester wanted you to believe." Tsuchimikado bit his lip. As everyone turned to him he gave a self deprecating smile. "Oh yeah, I heard it from the top dog himself… herself…" he sighed. "Espers are Thelemic magicians, based on Aliester's experiments in sicily. Think about it, what are phases?"
Uiharu crossed her arms. "Worlds or realities born from the collective beliefs of people and layered onto the world," she stated.
"Now what are personal realities?" he asked.
"Exactly what it sounds like, a reality born within oneself, from their preconceptions, or…" She trailed off. "Beliefs." Uiharu gulped, "oh…"
Tsuchimikado smiled nervously, "exactly… the only difference is that a personal reality is singular and contained within the person. And a phase is collective and layered over the world itself."
"Shit," Stiyl muttered as Kanzaki paled.
Saten gulped, "which means…"
"That Academy city is an all you can eat buffet," Uiharu's eyes widened in horror. "B-but why!? Why does she need to eat phases to begin with? If she's a god now, she wouldn't run out of power like a battery."
A cough came from a medical tent as Kinuhata limped out. "What if… she super doesn't actually need to?" she asked.
"That wouldn't explain her hunger," Birdway countered. "She got hungry whenever she needed to feed on phases again."
Ollerus held his chin, "not necessarily, maybe that's just what she thinks?"
"Then what could she possibly gain from eating phases?" Agnese cried out.
Kazakiri raised a shaky hand, "If… I may?" she asked. "I'm… not well… knowledgeable in the… occult side of the world. But," she grimaced, "if it helps. I know what happened to the espers who were eaten."
Elizard looked at the girl with surprised eyes. "Very well young lady, what do you have?" she asked.
"When… Junko was eaten. I noticed her ability didn't… vanish, it felt like… her AIM and personal reality were broken down and assimilated into Index. As if adding onto Index, soul…" She looked up with concern. "Index isn't refueling…"
Kanzaki began to feel a cold dread build as she realized what Kazakiri was saying.
"She's evolving, the more she eats, the more powerful she becomes. The more powerful she becomes, the more she can eat, it's an exponential cycle." she winced. "But! She's killing me in the process"
Silence filled the air until Tatemiya spoke, "hey… what would happen if she ate Accelerator?" he asked with a pale face.
If Index managed to devour Accelerator, not only would she obtain his ability of vector control. But she would gain access to Clonoth which was directly linked to it. As Accelerator had imputed it's values into his calculations.
And at that point, not even Glepnir could stop her. She would continue to grow in power till she had consumed the pure world itself.
"Whoa whoa! Then wasn't letting him storm off like that the stupidest decision ever!?" Saten asked, shaking.
Kazakiri bit her lip, "Accelerator can't beat her… he can delay her, but if she bites him. She'll drain his AIM, and if he doesn't get away in time." She looked up, "she'll take his personal reality."
Just like what happened with Weaver, the child of Index had been able to use the abilities of creatures she had devoured. Like the beholder, it was likely she had only been able to use Gunha's power once because she only bit him.
Accelerator's reflection wouldn't be able to help him as it relied on his AIM-field. As Index would be draining it. She'd bite through his reflection and be able to keep him from using his ability. Not to mention the countless ways she could attack him without doing so.
Ollerus looked down, "I doubt Accelerator believes he can defeat her. He's merely buying us time." The half god looked uncertain, "which means we must make the final preparations." Turning he picked up the box that held Gleipnir. "So let's not waste time!"
"Very well," Kanzaki stated and moved to pick up the artificial boulder Muireann made.
It wasn't long before everyone who could move was working. The agnese forces and Amakusa were drawing the circles that denoted the instructions for the spell. The espers were repairing chunks of the sargasso or working on the artificial cave.
Saten stood on a ledge as she helped link certain spiritual items. "Um… what about Yamata no Orochi and Quetzalcoatl? They both are taken down using alcohol. The latter could utilize Index's nun status to mirror the priestess sister."
Etzali nodded, "yes… that would work and we could link Hati to Coyolxauhqui which would allow us to use Vidar's shoe in conjunction with Huitzilopochtli's blade and the myth of Kronos's defeat."
Things were going well. Kanzaki smiled seeing Kazakiri also lend a hand as she pushed a chunk of Sargasso back into place. Fiamma came out of the artificial cave as he dusted his hands off. "The final seal is ready, and Gleipnir is in place, how much longer do we have?" he asked.
"About half an hour!" Kanzaki said as she and Muireann pushed the selkie's artificial boulder onto a slope. Holding it in place with a door stopper-like object.
Fiamma nodded, "good… we just might make it in time"
…
Accelerator's wings spread out around Index splitting until there were hundreds. The white jets of energy curved inward surrounding her and struck, crashing into her body.
Blue and lemon yellow fibers formed claws around Touma's arms and legs as he launched forward. Pink and green wings, spreading from his back as a tail of the same colors formed on his spine.
Index conjured chains up to bind him. His fierce expression excited her. Appearing behind him, she reached out to grab him.
In the outside world she was fighting Accelerator.
In her internal reality, she was trying to restrain Touma.
The white wings pressed against her body, not causing so much as a scratch even as they tried to cause her mana to run wild. A jeweled spear manifested in her hand and she swung it.
The wings were torn from her body and Accelerator tumbled back wincing in pain. He used a telesma infused wing to deflect the jeweled spear as it struck at him. But was sent hurtling through the air at blinding velocities.
She appeared behind him as they floated over Toyko, pointed the spear forward and stirred the air before her. Amenonuboko, the spear of Izanagi. The sky glittered as the rising sun flared red a moment. And the earth shook, corrupt spirits, ayakashi erupting forth from the ground as it split.
They grabbed at Accelerator, tugging on his wings and flesh. Attempting to drag him down to Yomi below.
Accelerator instead swung his wings down, grabbing the leylines and sealing the 'vent' as it were. Then filling his body with Telesma he released it, vaporizing the ayakashi around him.
But Index was behind him now, she swung Amenonuboku at him, a droplet of water on the tip.
Swearing Accelerator ducked back just as the drolet left the blade. Instantly erupting forth into a mass of land which crashed into the ocean. Accelerator quickly spread his wings covering the bay as the waves crashed against the land. Just managing to stop Tokyo from being flooded.
Index twisted the spear and dove down, stabbing the earth. Civillians fleed in terror as clouds formed in the sky. A ring appeared with several plates on its edge. Electricity crackled and wind roared as it rotated rapidly before a collum of divine electricity struck down.
Accelerator pulled his wings before him, allowing him to reflect the divine lightning. However, he failing to reflect the deathly wind. He gasped in agony as his vision blurred a moment as his soul was weakened.
Channeling telesma into him aligned with water he revitalized his body and dodged just as Index leapt into the air again.
The Halo of Rajin floated behind her and Cloud of Fujin placed itself below her feet as she slammed the butt of the spear down. The corpse of an eight headed dragon burst from the ground. It snapped at Accelerator as it's reanimated body began to mend
Cuts and slices covered Yamata no Orochi's body, chunks of bone visible under its damaged flesh. One of its heads, hanging by a tendon as it was rapidly reattached. Once a certain saint had slayed it after it had been resurrected years ago. It had cost her the lives of her church, causing her to leave.
Once more that beast rose from the dead as it's whiplike tail sliced at Accelerator.
Channeling the telesma into divine electricity. Accelerator brought it down on Yamata no Orochi's head, frying it dead once more. As anti-climatic as it may have seemed, the power of the number one was just that immense.
Raising the spear into the air Index rotated it. Conjuring forth primordial energies, Index directed them at Accelerator.
White wings curled around Accelerator to defend him against the blast. He grabbed the divine energies and bent their trajectories inward. The inversion of primordial creation energy caused the mass to detonate, utterly devastating the ground below.
Screams and cries echoes out as parts of Tokyo were vaporized. Accelerator swore and paled, realizing there were civilians in those buildings. Index didn't seem to care for human life anymore. Truly she had become a god who could take like as easily as give it.
Not wanting to cause more collateral damage. Accelerator moved to Index's side in order to knock her towards the sea. Amenonoboko vanished from the bored girl's hands.
Touma's body twisted and he tore through the chains. His foot swung around and slammed against Index's side and she was sent back a little. Landing on his feet he wiped his brow as crackling was heard from his body. "INDEX!" he shouted, "I know you're trying to protect me… but you're the one hurting me the most!"
Index sent a wave of distorted space at Touma and he slammed his fist down. A roar was heard and the distorted space shattered. A white set of horns now visible on either side of his head.
Touma flew forward trying to tackle Index to the ground. "So, what? Are you telling me to let you continue fighting till you die!?" she cried out. She grabbed the air, halting Touma in place as she increased gravity around him. "I won't accept that Touma! I'll protect you even if I need to devour entire realities!"
A mirror of obsidian appeared in front of Accelerator's telesma infused fist. He swore and bent away just as a dazzling beam of light launched from the mirror and seared his flesh. If it was normal light, it wouldn't have been an issue. But Tezcatipolca was an omnipresent god so the light was omnipresent as well. And that was the smoking mirror
The buildings that had been destroyed were restored, and Accelerator braced for the next attack.
Glittering descended from the sky and spears of light struck down on Accelerator. He ducked and weaved between the spears as the tore through the city below. Civillains and people dying before being resurrected once more by the god.
Accelerator shook as he glared at Index, but his eyes went wide. The Great devourer was in front of him already. The mirror's surface changed revealing the area behind Accelerator.
Ducking down Accelerator twisted the leylines. A mass of energy erupted from the earth and shot into the sky. Much like what he witnessed back at Picadilly circus. The light enveloped the two Indexes that had appeared and blotted out nearby reflections.
However Floating above the ocean Accelerator found a hand grab him from behind. Index emerged from the reflective still surface and pulled Accelerator toward her. Slamming him into the water as the mirror in her chest glittered.
She kicked him, pulling a black spear from it and thrusted it forth. Accelerator moved just as a beam of light caused a cruise ship on the ocean to disassemble. Its occupants all crying out as their bodies were dissected. The obsidian spear of Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli.
Sweat dripped from the number one's brow as he slammed his foot against the ocean at near relativistic speeds. Steam erupted forth obscuring the sky, but a glitter in the air burst forth. Accelerator's wing only barely blocked it, only to be torn apart.
Index was behind him as the spear sunk back into her chest. Now a stick was in her hand as she swung it at Accelerator's head. He ducked aside just as it struck the ocean.
The shockwave sent immense waves outward. Reaching his white wings out, Accelerator grabbed hold of them and settled the sea. Before a glow from the mirror on Index's chest caught his attention.
Light shot forth from the obsidian mirror once more. But this time, Accelerator altered the flow of mana within the mirror.
And detonation of light occured and Index and Accelerator were hit by a snowstorm, the mirror having teleported them. Thunder cracked overhead as an arora occurred in the sky.
Accelerator growled and raised his hand. An immense sphere of raw telesma was summoned and formed into a spearlike mass. He threw it forward to strike Index as she floated before him.
The obsidian mirror vanished as the telesma spear struck Index, detonating into raw material energy.
Touma tore free, roaring out, shattering of glass was heard as he bit his lip. "I never asked for that!" he shouted. Fibers and cracks ran along his body as he shifted to a familiar form.
The psychedelic dragon slammed into Index and the shattering of glass was heard. Index winced a little but grasped hold of Touma's head as he returned to human. "You don't need to!" she cried out. "I chose to do it for you!" Dark energy began coiling around Touma trying to sap his strength away.
Touma opened his mouth and bit down on the energy. A shrieking shattering occured and Touma broke free. Swinging a fist at Index he hit her in the face sending her back a few feet. "Don't you lie to yourself Index!" he shouted. "You know I didn't want this, you know I never wanted to see you become a monster!"
Index bit her lip, a flurry of emotions on her face. Excitement, shame, lust, and sorrow. "How else was I supposed to bring you back to life!" Index cried out. She distorted space and grabbed Touma in her hand. "I can't live without you Human!" she shook.
Touma hearing Index call him by his understander's nickname caused him to burst from her palm. "Then why did you have to eat Othinus! There was no need to go that far, you could've talked to her, became a friend...but eating her that was uncalled for Index, did you even think about how I would feel about losing her.
"I thought she was the biggest threat to you!, after everything she did to you, made you suffer endlessly, she didn't earn the right to call you her understander, she didn't deserve to have those happy moments with you Touma, she didn't….earn the feeling you have for her" said Index as she felt a bit of relief as she continued to pour out her soul.
"I was there to Touma, seeing you go off wondering if you'd be OK, then seeing you in the hospital, it hurt seeing you like that,...then when you died I felt like I lost everything! There wasn't a light for me anymore, nothing mattered to me if you weren't there to enjoy with me" The void pulled in around Touma in an attempt to incase the boy.
"You think Othinus didn't feel the same as you, just because she didn't outright show it to you assumed she didn't care, you were just jealous of her Index nothing more, consumed with nothing but jealousy and hatred, you learned nothing from our time together" Said Touma tearing through the blackness as he looked at Index. "Even Othi-chan was able to change her view of the world, She was able to enjoy the little things that people would normally ignore, she took that first step to change herself"
Index looked at Touma in complete shock, even in a situation like this, he still called Othinus by her nickname that he had given her himself, Index's jealousy rose even more it seemed even after her demise Othinus was still in her way and mocking her.
Space distorted and contorted. Accelerator was hit in the back from seemingly nothing. A large tentacle threw him into the air and Index grabbed his face. Two large bat-like wings on her back with a mass of tendrils eyed with lines covering her legs. Six larger tentacle arms spread from her back below the wings. A tall gold crown atop her head as she held a book covered with human skin, the Necronomicon.
Accelerator ducked but was struck in the front by a fist from behind. A number of nonsensical strikes occurred, sending him skidding across the ground bleeding. He sealed his wounds and pulled a mass of telesma into his body.
The book drifted in front of Index and opened, it's pages rapidly turning. Accelerator released an telesmatic explosion out from his body as Index pointed the open book at him, a look of confliction on her face.
An eye opened within the book and Accelerator found his head spinning as the telesma vanished as if it never existed. He regained his bearings just as Index slipped out of space behind him. She grabbed him with her tentacles and slammed the book shut.
A pulse flowed out and Accelerator felt his mind trying to collapse in on itself. Instead he rerouted the mana and ley lines and grinned, ripping free of Index's Elder arms. Knowledge flowed through his brain for a moment as he slipped through the air himself and appeared behind Index.
She pulled a glowing red blade with a flared tip and satanic symbols within it from the Necronomicon. It carved into Accelerator's shoulder, searing flesh around it instantly. He shrieked in agony as he moved back and pulled telesma to counter the Crucible blade.
The Telesma deflected the blade but only barely. Calling upon the leylines, he inverted and combined the telesma. Similar red energy burst from the ground and slammed against the blades
Carving through the energy, Index slipped the blade back into the Necronomicon. She seemed distracted, confused. Opening the Necronomicon once more. A large black monolith formed in the air which looked like two curved spiked coiling around each other.
Reflecting a signal emanating from the object Accelerator ducked as the 'marker' released a wave of energy at him. It washed over a tree nearby which seemed to start moving in slow motion despite the wind.
Index appeared in front of him again, this time four pillars erupted from the ground. Blue, Green, Violet, and orange. Her head was down as she shook, tears in her eyes. If Accelerator had to guess. He'd say the Damn hero was doing what he did best and talking shit.
The four pillars began to glow and dye the air in their colors as four distant celestial bodies manifested in the sky.
The stars in the sky twinkled before a set of blue lights struck down on Accelerator. Gravity distorted as a green vortex formed and discharges of energy launched out. The air became heavy with mana before it condensed into a violet nebula. The snow instantly melted and fires ignited as organe solar flares burst into being.
Accelerator slammed his wings down, kicking a massive cloud of dust into the air blocking out the stars above the pillars. He kicked a rock at relativistic speeds past the vortex. He caused an immense Summoned Explosion, disrupting the leylines near the nebula. Then he slammed his foot down causing the ground to erupt around the solar flares.
The star lights disbursed, the vortex collapsed, the nebula vanished and the solar flares sputtered out. Quickly turning Accelerator barely managed to avoid as multiple energy rays flew past. Ten separate eyes emerged from under Index's hair attached to eyestalks. The four pillars crumbled into their respective fragments as they faded.
Index's eyes snapped open angrily and her arms slipped into space. Accelerator leapt back, ten rays shot out at him and he altered their trajectories so they collided into each other causing a detonation that tore at the land.
Landing, he saw the Necronomicon vanish and Index's body return to normal.
Slamming into Touma, Index held onto him as she then pinned him down, as her own anger began to rise. OTHINUS NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR WHAT SHE DID TO YOU!" she cried out almost in tears. "She was a god of war, magic deception, a betrayer and a cheater! You spent so much time with her Touma, she gave you Stockholm syndrome, she made it so you couldn't live without her!" Said Index as she held on tightly.
Touma managed to get out of her tight grip and throw her in the voidspace. "If that's the case Index then it goes both ways! I'm sure Othinus thought the same thing!, telling me everything she was just proves my point!, even someone like her can grow and change! Said Touma as he looked at Index with that same look in his eyes as before. "What about you, you never apologized either, don't assume your one percent right Index"
"I didn't need to apologize! I've never held malicious intent towards you!" Cried out Index, as her focus was fully on Touma. She didn't even care about Accelerator to her; he was just a small distraction.
" I-I was there when this you was born, you were thrown into an unknown world of misfortune and continued to suffer. But you managed to stay true to yourself. Even after the memory loss, you continued to save people and their smiles!" Said Index leather straps manifesting to bind him. "Words never needed to pass between us for you to know if I was sorry!"
But Touma was having none of it. "And you think the same didn't apply to Othinus!?" he shouted. The straps shattered before they reached him and he brought his arm up. "Othinus still tried to make up for her sins by helping me and others! You're just being a hypocrite, Index!" The fibers formed a wall blocking Index as she conjured a volley of flaming arrows down on Touma.
"You're a Hypocrite too Touma!" she distorted space and appeared behind Touma. "You always force us to accept your help even if we don't want it. But never will you accept our help if you don't want it." arms appeared from the air and grabbed Touma. "You throw yourself down for our sake like your christ or something. Dying for our sins, but never do you let us do the same for you!"
Touma's hands carved through the arms grabbing him. "That's my selfishness, of course I'm not gonna allow others to but into my problems!"
Index's lower half shifted to the armored serpent. She coiled around Touma, constricting him. A serpentine seductress attempting to lure her prey with a colorful promise..
"Then this is my selfishness!" she cried out. "I'm trying to give you the normal life you've always wanted. The fortune you never had! Why won't you just accept it Toumaaaaaaa!" she cried. Grasping his forehead, Images were forced into Touma's mind.
He saw himself at school with his friends getting lectured by Fukiyosie.
He saw himself at graduation, Komoe crying happily as Aogami and Tsuchimikado stood either side of him.
He saw himself at college getting a culinary degree.
He saw himself opening a bakery, customers flowing in every day.
He saw himself in a middle class house. Two kids playing in the backyard, his kids.
He saw himself lying in the hospital surrounded by friends and family as his grandkids cried at his bed.
A normal, mundane life.
But there was something missing from it all. That bakery, that college dorm, something was missing from both. Like adding the final and important piece to a puzzle. Two last images were conjured by his mind, filling in those missing pieces.
A one eyed god who didn't get along well with people. Nervously panicking at that bakery counter, trying to handle customer orders.
A white gold nun with a bottomless stomach. Lying on that college dorm room bed, asking when Dinner will be ready.
The fibers burst out wrapping around Touma. He swung a clawed right hand into Index's segments and pulled himself free. "BECAUSE YOUR MY NORMAL TOO INDEX!" Touma shouted, causing her to fall silent.
Accelerator took the chance and wrenched at the leylines below Index causing a mass of multi-elemental energy to erupt out. Index, however, was behind him. A silver arm manifesting over her right arm.
She grabbed Accelerator's neck and slammed him down. The earth split and Accelerator's wings struck down.
A swarm of white beetles emerged from the shoulder of the silver arm. They latched to Accelerator's flesh and drained his lifeforce. His wings faltered a moment as Index kicked him. A glittering blade appearing in her hand as she swung it at Accelerator.
He swore at the sight of Claíomh Solais and ducked. But the blade bent down slicing through his shoulder.
Crying out in pain, Accelerator's wing fanned out striking Index all at once. They forced the leylines to erupt out causing a detonation like the one caused when Aliester and the Mathers replica had fought.
Index frowned and the sword vanished. She had no desire to actually kill Accelerator. So, an inescapable blade which marked it's target was no good.
Raising her hand, a glowing triad appeared in the sky. The celtic knot spun before it burst into flames. A haunting melody playing out causing Accelerator to feel tired.
Accelerator slammed his head against his palm. Purposefully burning his forehead and dispelling the lullaby of Áillen. He then swung his white wings down tearing through the flaming knot.
Index swung down, a two handed greatsword in her hands. She swung it at his torso and an immense rainbow circle was launched forth.
Accelerator bent back his wings shifting black as he channeled pure rage to throw the arc aside. Wings returning to white after he deflected it.
Like a buzzsaw, the rainbow arc launched by Caladbolg sliced through a mountain range in the distance..
A frozen staff appeared in Index's hand and instantly a freezing storm swept the plains. She moved behind Accelerator Raising the Cailleach Beria's staff above his head.
He pulled forth telesma and forced fire to erupt around him.
The staff carved through the flames and encased Accelerator in a tomb of ice. Index stepped back and glared at Accelerator.
White wings tore through the primordial ice and launched it at Index.
Staff vanishing, Index growled, the silver hand vanished from her body. The very universe suddenly shuddered and the sky shifted slightly as the earth was moved below them.
Touma swung a wing around and slammed into the dazed Index. "You, are part of my Normal Index! Without you It'd feel wrong! Without you It'd feel hollow!" He ducked aside and swung the pink and green tail through a set of leather straps that manifested to bind him. "I may not hold romantic feelings for you Index."
He moved behind Index again, now getting more used to the power of the Dragon shell.
"But, That doesn't mean I can live without you! You're my little sister!" he cried out.
Index's expression became enraged as she avoided his next strike. Her eyes flashed as Touma felt his body waver, the very strength and power being sapped from his body.
"There! Right there Touma! That's where you're going wrong!" she shouted. "Calling me the little sister!" she looked down as he struggled to stand. "I CAN'T SEE YOU AS MY OLDER BROTHER!" she cried out.
Touma paused in silence as Index lifted him and slapped his face.
"I can't see you as my older brother. You're too different form me! You're noble, cool. You save me time and time again, and then save others time and time again."
She threw him faster than the eye could see before a mass of something emerged and bound around him. Touma gritted his teeth and roared out, shattering his bonds before moving just as Index's foot crashed into his former position.
"You're a normal highschool boy, yet you're an unstoppable infallible hero!" she cried. "It's a contradiction yet you embody it all! HOW CAN SOMEONE SO PERFECT BE MY OLDER BROTHER!" large cthuloid tentacles burst from her back and grabbed Touma, wrenching him to her. "Perfect… to me at least…" tears flowed down her face and she shook.
Touma sighed, and a flicker was seen as her eldritch arms were torn apart. "So that's it," he said. "You're really that selfish aren't you?" the fibers formed around his hand and he threw a punch at her.
Index's eyes widened as she was sent hurtling through the void and Touma slammed his foot down glaring at her. Her heart beat rapidly as a storm of conflicting emotions filled her.
"You said you saw Othinus as a threat, but in reality you just couldn't forgive what she did knowing she had changed. You were jealous of her, envious and felt she had stolen me from you." His foot moved forward as he slowly approached. "You say you're doing this for me, but in reality you just fear losing me."
Index stumbled back a moment in the air as Touma's pace quickened. That look again, that darn look. Was he about to do it?
Was he about to shatter her illusions?
Touma was charging now, the fibers wrapping around his arms and legs as blue, pink, yellow, and green merged to white scales and draconic armor. "You say, you want me to live a normal life but you just want to keep me to yourself don't you!" he shouted.
Leaping into the air wings spread he pulled his fist back.
"If you think you can keep me from my normal life with you, and everyone back home. And if you think you can stop me from enacting my selfish desires."
Wings flapped back and launched him forward.
"Then We'll shatter that Illusion first Index!" two voices cried out as the Dragon and human united.
He slammed his fist Into Index's stomach sending blinding light bursting forth.
Accelerator stumbled disorientated in a dense temperate forest, likely northern America. Before he suddenly found innumerable unexplainable detonations tearing into his flesh all at once.
He screamed out in pain and bent his wings around smacking Index.
Only for the girl to grab the wing and twist it. He was thrown off balance and finally saw It.
Spreading behind Index stretching to the horizon, broad cracks emerged into the air. Creating a disturbing symbol as the sky split with light. Index held her fingers up, each curved almost like they were pulling a bow string.
The world creaked as Othinus's Crossbow was activated.
It was the same attack which had taken a certain high school boy's life once. It was the same attack which had once graced the skies of denmark.
The sheer power Accelerator felt from this dwarfed any of the prior gods she had used. But why? Othinus was considered an experiment by the other Magic gods was she not?
A little known fact in the writings of Crowly place the Gods Odin, Ra, and Zeus as equal above all other gods. Now why would he do that if Othinus was weaker than the others? One could say simple ignorance, and while that is a possibility. There is another important possibility.
Othinus never regained her true full power. It was unlikely she would admit such a thing due to her pride. But the simple fact remained that there was one vital piece of her power and myth missing from her arsenal.
Hlidskjalf, the high seat of Odin.
Othinus had lost it, and Ollerus had stolen it.
And now Index had devoured it combined with the power of Othinus. Index could now wield its full potential beyond that which Othinus may have shown the Imagine Breaker.
The first bolt fell from the heavens, a targeted strike to smite any and all the god desired. With enough energy to destroy a small star, it moved with speed that could only be described as a near instant.
Accelerator barely reacted in time. Bringing his wings before him and managing to just barely divert the trajectory enough that it barely missed him.
Like a rifle leaving a clean hole in the head of a target. The first bolt vaporized Accelerator's wings. The earth shook slightly as the bolt passed right through before it could impart its energy through the ground.
The second bolt emerged from the horizon behind Accelerator.
His wings barely moved him aside just avoiding the shot.
The strike carved through the base of a distant mountain. The sky shook as the shockwave reached Accelerator. The flash of light which occurred fading as the Mountain evaporated.
Third and fourth bolts ripped forth from the ground. They became columns of light which expanded out to envelope Accelerator.
He called forth the telesmatic energy of the Aeon of Osiris to defend against the pagan attack.
He was thrown back, his reflection wavering slightly as he crashed against the ground. The bolts faded, leaving an immense crater of primordial energy in their wake.
The fifth bolt appeared point blank in front of him.
Accelerator's wings distorted as he bent their spatial vectors. He scooped the bolt into the sky using the telesmatic protection of christianity.
The bolt flashed into the distant sky, likely exiting orbit and flying off into the distant universe.
The sixth and seventh bolts manifested over Index's shoulders. They glittered before becoming beams of light which carved through anything and everything in their path. Space, time and matter were shredded as Accelerator was caught between them.
The number 1 esper forced gravity away from him, curving the beams around him even while Index turned them.
She had forgone non-lethal attacks; it was clear she had decided it was best to kill him now to resurrect him later. The two beams turned the distant horizon to a wasteland as Accelerator could almost feel the countless lives being lost and resurrected all the same.
The eight bolt overcame the restrictions of spatial dimensions. Accelerator swore as it tore through his body like the dimensional severance spell.
He used his ability to grab his tumbling torso and reattach his legs to it using the telesma in the air to heal himself.
It vanished just as quickly as it appeared, collapsing in on itself like a black hole.
The nith bolt overcame the bounds of a single infinity. It blanketed the sky and horizon as they all struck out at Accelerator like stars. Each part of it layered inside of itself in the folds of reality.
Accelerator gritted his teeth accessing his calculations used against Coronzon. He bent the single bolt in on itself. Causing them all to collapse to a singularity which fell atop Index.
The singularity evaporated and made the already large crater bigger as irradiated molten rock smoldered below.
Accelerator was close to Index now as he prepared to strike.
But the Tenth bolt combined the traits of all the prior bolts. Mutually assured destruction for the target. The sky was enveloped with it as an outside observer would only see what appeared to be a star collapsing inwards.
Accelerator's eyes widened in shock as he felt he had lost his body preparing to collapse in on itself from the attack.
Light poured from Index's stomach and her eyes widened. Hand's darting down to keep whatever was inside from escaping.
The crossbow was disengaged and Accelerator took his chance. Using his wings he attempted to pierce Index's flesh and cause her mana to go wild.
"Hungry," she muttered.
Piercing agony carved into Accelerator's shoulder as he saw Index's jaws clamp down onto his shoulder. His wings vanished and he found himself dangling above the molten rock below. His reflection no longer working as Index sucked his AIM away.
The heat caused him to feel Dizzy and he found Index's jaws pull away as she held him in one hand. Blood pouring down his shoulder as he gritted his teeth.
"Don't make me eat you Accelerator," Index said with a sad gaze. "Touma wouldn't like it if I ate you. You're part of Touma's world!"
Accelerator coughed feeling his body scream in agony. "You shold have fucking thought of that before you began eating my fucking students, white gold sister!" he hissed out.
Index frowned, "But I have to if I'm to protect Touma!" she cried out. "Without their phases I'll get hungrier and hungrier! Gods just aren't efficient enough; they don't hold their phases inside them." She looked pleadingly into Accelerator's eyes. "You espers however do! I don't need to eat more of you each time I need to refuel! I won't need to refuel for the next 50 years! Isn't that better than needing to eat the entire world?"
Accelerator glared into her eyes coldly. "Fuck that bullshit! You don't need to eat them you want to, you enjoy it" he told her. "No fucking way does the damn hero need your protection!"
The Great Devourer fell silent, shaking. Her eyes fell shadowed and her stomach growled. Sending shivers down Accelerator's spine. "... So… are you saying you'll get in my way too?" she asked.
"Of fucking course you gluttonous bitch!" Accelerator hissed defiantly.
"I see." Index's eyes rose. "I guess I'll have to add you to my library!" she said, bringing Accelerator to her mouth.
Index's jaws opened to welcome the number one esper. As his head was brought into her mouth, he closed his eyes.
"Qlilphah" he muttered.
Bright platinum light burst out and Index was launched back crashing Into the ground. Stumbling she looked up and growled angrily.
The moment before her jaws bit back down onto him. Accelerator had felt his ability return. He had used that moment to call upon Clonoth. Platinum wings spread out either side of him as he floated in the air.
"AACCEEELLEERAAATOOOOOOOR!" Index roared and launched herself, tackling the esper in the air.
Ducking his head aside he avoided her bite Platinum wings grabbed hold of the phases themselves. And he shoved the sky flickered and the ground below changed revealing the devastated landscape of the new world.
Slamming his wings Into Index, he struck at the very phase inside her. She gagged and winced for once, floating back.
The angel of Death stared down the great devourer. "Lets try this again" he said as a demon faded in around his neck. "I'm not gonna let you eat my students bitch."
"Let's show this wannabe god who's the real number 1 Master!" Qliphah excitedly declared.
Index snarled, vibrant purple flames erupting forth. "I… I won't let you stop me from protecting Touma!" she roared.
The Great Devourer launched herself towards the Angel of death. Fully intending on consuming their essence, as Accelerator braced for her attack.
Touma was launched back, the light fading as he skidded to a halt before Index. Her head was down, shadowed and she shook slightly.
"You're doing it wrong! What happened to all that talk about using me huh? You're fucking holding back you limp dicked coward! How the fuck do you expect to get out of here if you don't use my full potential hmm?" Kamijou no Touma began mocking Touma.
'Shut the fuck up pink and green bastard! I've never done this before, you really think I'm just gonna instantly know how to use all of your power?' Touma snidely thought back.
Kamijou no Touma scoffed as Index floated down. "If you don'y get your fucking act together and fast. I'm taking over."
'Not happening,' Touma declared.
"You're right… Touma" Index began, "I do want you to myself… and I do fear losing you." The Great Devourer admitted to her darkness as her head rose. "Yeah, I was jealous of Othinus. Why wouldn't I be? She showed up out of nowhere, destroyed the universe and tormented you. Stole you away and became your understander. I worked to understand you, I lived with you, stood by you and even threw my life in the way for you to win your heart. And… she cheated! Swooping in and skipping all the steps through the longest torture session ever!"
Touma stood once more looking at Index sympathetically. "Then-" he began but was interrupted.
"But I never lied when I said I wanted to give you a normal life!" Index cried out. "You've always expressed a desire for one. So, why can't you accept it!? Why can't you just allow me this selfishness!" Tears poured down her face as she threw herself forward.
She burst into the armored serpent and coiled around Touma to restrain him. The draconic features on Touma changed. White scales became yellow, as the crown-like horns retracted, replaced by a singular horn on the forehead.
Electricity burst from his body scattering along the scales before he raised his right hand. For a moment, a Yellow spearheaded dragon was superimposed over the clawed hand. Then a beam of energy was launched smacking directly into Index.
It knocked her back a little, not much. But enough for Touma to slip free, the scales reverting to that of the dragon king's.
"Because I can't let you lose the normal life you just got!" Touma shouted. "You said it yourself, You never had a normal life before me. I won't let you cast that aside just for me!"
Index had reverted to normal but she appeared behind Touma, pulling her fist back. It was engulfed in purple flames and she swung it at Touma. "Then Let me Protect you! You are my normal human!"
Icy blue-white scales and snowflake-like horns of the ice crystal dragon now decorated Touma's body. He brought his armored wrist up and blocked Index's strike. Purple flames erupted out and burned at him. But reverting back to the dragon king, they were extinguished.
He kicked Index off and the ice-crystal dragon emerged from his arm to breathe a torrent of ice and frost. "Because then you're taking my normal away Index!" he shouted. "I don't want to live in a fish bowl where everything is perfect!"
Scales became green as the crown of horns shifted down to his cheek bone. A third and forth eye opened on his sideburns. And chains manifested around Index.
However, she tore free of the illusionary chains before they became reality and pinned Touma down. "And I don't want you to die on me again!" she cried out.
Touma's eyes widened as he found himself speechless. Index pulling herself towards him.
"Okay, this isn't working you shitty failure, I'm taking over!" Kamijou no Touma growled.
'No! You won't you pink and green imposter!' Touma snapped back.
But Kamijou no Touma ignored him and Touma felt his mind clouding over "Yes… I am you little shit"
Index's eyes narrowed as she saw Touma's expression change to a shit eating Grin.
"SYSTEM recall, Ars Magna- in my hand a god slaying blade" And a glittering pale green blade manifested in the boy's hand. Index lept back as he sliced her chest and Stood. "It's about time I show your pathetic ass excuse of a Kamijou, what the Purifier of gods, and Slayer of Demons can Really do!"
Index's eyes widened, her teeth grit in fury. This was not her Touma, this wasn't Touma at all. This was that Fake from Winsdor Castle, this was.
Kamijou No Touma.
A/Ns: Craytherlay; Well… you're all caught up with the writer now. No more backlog meaning chapters will likely be coming out much slower from now on. Don't expect weekly releases anymore people. writing is an art and takes time.
Other than that! This was another interesting chapter to write. Having it bounce between Index fighting Touma, and Index fighting Accelerator. I mean one is literally inside her, the other she's fighting outside. One of the difficulties was balancing, Index's attacks as she's a god… And well.. Accel's human. An abyss walker, sure… but he's still human. So, figuring out how he'd survive with just white wings till he pulled plat out was quite a trip.
Now Touma… yeah he's also difficult, as I wanted to build up his ability and power. But the focus there was the argument between the two. Index's selfishness, and Touma's selfishness clashing.
Dragonrails; I asked Cray if I could make a bit of an announcement, so me and Cray are working on a collab story with our favorite pair of understanders we've made a few chapters of it so far but we both feel like we just need a good beta before I upload it, so be on the lookout for both a new story and updates!
Craytherlay: With funny comedic hijinks and some steamy themes we got tones of ideas for that story.
On another funny note… I had just found out that I had to actually change the poll from last week's chapter's display on profile to 'yes'… why is that not default? Sigh So that means now you can all vote on the Omake… and hey Just to spice things up I'll add the other Poll I made a while back too…. Because I apparently was too stupid back then to know I needed to let it be visible on my profile.
So Polls (hopefully actually accessible because FFN has some annoying bull):
Muireann's Omake
Weaver's family Omake
