Chapter 8 'A Slice of Heaven'
Hi, welcome to the chapter where we finally meet Jewel, or well, where Bluey meets Jewel.
So, this was started literally minutes after I finished chapter 7, as I initially just wanted to start it and that way, I'd be able to finish it the next day. It turned into me finishing it all in one go. Yay for double uploads.
So, anyways, without further ado, lets get on with it! Enjoy or suffer.

Bluey was filled with fear and anxiety as he looked around the fake jungle. Ahead of him, was a small stream of sorts with his side being a straight concrete. On the other side was a pebbly beach, and the stream itself was probably under a foot deep. Two thirds of the width of the room to his left side was a concrete plaza of sorts, with some plants that made it resemble a nice tropical garden. A third of the width of the room on his right side was with bushes and was more natural looking.
In both sides, it transitioned to the beach quite well. Bluey wouldn't mind if he had a cage like this, but maybe just the more artificial parts. The back end was just jungle, which was probably where the girl was. Connecting his entrance to the mainland was a branch bridge, and Bluey gulped.
''Here goes nothing.'', he mumbled as he began to cross the bridge over the water. He heard ambient jungle noises being played over speakers, and assumed they were played to add to the "illusion" of being in a jungle. He made it to the mainland, and his nerves were climbing.
''Hello, anybody here?'', Bluey nervously called out, but got no response. Bluey began to tremble a little bit, beginning to fear for his life. But as he was Martin's brave boy, he would live up to his name and continue on for a bit longer, ''I come in peace, I swear!'', Bluey nervously added. He noticed a blue blur in the corner of his eye, and any bit of credibility his "Martin's brave boy" charade went through the window as he began to panic.
''I-I mean no harm…'', he fearfully spoke, as he began to slowly back away, absently, as he wanted to stay put. His eyes began to scan the environment, and he noticed a shadow cast on him. He looked in the centre and his beak dropped, and his eyes widened.
In the shining light was an absolutely beautiful bird graciously descending. The light was like heaven, and she was like an angel descending from the heavens. Bluey watched in awe and in a trance at her.
My God, she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen… Bluey thought as he watched her fly with such grace that it puts even the most graceful fliers to shame. She's like an angel… A beautiful angel… It was like Bluey was sentenced to firing squad, but instead of rifles it was a bunch of cupids firing love arrows at him… Okay, maybe not that much, but Bluey sure as hell was infatuated by her. He even let off a shiver that started in his waist area.
She looks even more beautiful now she's up close… Wait? Bluey was suddenly tackled and pinned down by Jewel – and not in the good way – by his throat. Her wings were out intimidatingly, and she stared scornfully and intimidatingly.
''Quem é você? Quê que você está fazendo aqui?'', she demanded in Portuguese. Bluey had no idea what she was saying but knew if he didn't answer he'd be dead meat. But as she was pressing down on his throat which impaired the muscles in his trachea from producing intelligible sounds.
''Can't breathe.'', Bluey tried to say, but all that came out were unintelligible choked gurgles. She cocked her head to the side, and slightly reduced the pressure on his throat by pressing her foot down less hard. Now with a quick half gasp, Bluey was able to speak,
''You're standing on my throat…'', Bluey spat out in a weak, strangled voice. His supposed future mate gasped lightly in surprise and she stood off his throat.
''Oh, you're an American?'', she spoke in surprise. Bluey stood up, as he coughed once.
''I'm actually Canadian.'', Bluey jokingly corrected.
''Oh…'', she responded. Bluey smiled,
''Nah, nah, just kidding. I'm American.'', he chuckled. She stared at him confused,
''So… What was the point of that?'', she droningly asked in confusion.
''I-I don't know…'', Bluey self consciously and awkwardly responded, looking down at his talons briefly, and raising a talon to knock his beak, ''You're an idiot.'', he muttered to himself under his breath. To his surprise, during this, the bird was circling around him, inspecting him. Her eyes widened after she did a full rotation around him,
''Hey, you look just like me!'', she gasped with a hint of joy being clear in her voice. Bluey smiled, lightly chuckling nervously.
''Hi, ahem, my name is Bluey.'', Bluey introduced himself, clearing his throat and holding his Zygodactyl talon out for a talon shake, a sign of basic etiquettecy in Bluey's opinion.
''Uh, hi my name is Jewel.'', Jewel introduced herself, perplexed by his behaviour. Bluey awkwardly held his talon out, and Jewel figured what he was trying to do. So, the two shook talons, with Bluey nervously and awkwardly smiling. Once they shook talons, Jewel quickly changed her demeanour, ''Come on, we don't have much time.'', she said urgently, holding Bluey and scanning the room quickly.
Bluey nervously laughed, which was becoming a very frequent thing since he's come to Rio. Jewel pulled him along and darted away. A conveniently placed branch smacked Bluey right in the face, but Jewel who was in front of him, had ducked and flew up to a tree in front of the branch. Bluey fell onto his back,
''Ow, ow, ow…'', he grumbled and stood up, rubbing his beak and wiping away a reflexive tear due the impact. He groaned and saw the branch Jewel landed on. To his delight, colourful pegs stuck out of the tree, making a staircase of sorts for birds to climb up on, which were very convenient. It was almost as if they were installed specifically for him. Bluey smiled, and climbed up the tree expertly, as he had plenty of experience in walking and climbing and pretty much every motor activity a bird could do apart from flying and swimming.
Once he made it up to the top, he let out a puff of exhaustion. Jewel suddenly landed in front of him, with a friendly look,
''You ready?'', she asked. Bluey was confused for a moment,
''For what? Oh, oh, right, ah…'', Bluey muttered as Jewel slid away with a sly smile. Bluey nervously smiled, but he also felt excitement. He never could've imagined he'd mate with anyone, let alone someone as beautiful as Jewel. He was getting turned on just thinking about it, but he decided to try and not get himself too excited before they even begin or have any kind of foreplay.
''Okay…'', Bluey took in a deep breath, pumping out his chest, ''Crazy love hawk.'', he narrowed his eyes and followed the advice that had been given to them by the yellow canary and red crested cardinal he met by the beach. Bluey walked towards Jewel with mostly sincere confidence. To begin this most noble deed, he'd give Jewel a loving and passionate kiss, doubling as a good start to their species saving endeavour, and also serving as his first real kiss he's ever received from a girl. (Or from anyone for that matter)
''Oh, hi.'', Jewel spoke, but was cut off by Bluey attempted to kiss her. Like so many things in his life, he fell flat on his face, or in this case, into her soft chest. She was speechless and was in shock for a split second, but she quickly shoved him off.
''Woah, what're you doing?'', she asked with annoyance in her voice. Bluey could tell that this may very well be the calm before the storm, and that voice may get a whole lot louder and a whole lot angrier, and Bluey may end up a whole lot dead if he doesn't explain himself. He had fallen over against a tree branch, resting against it.
''What you wanted me to do? But for arguments sake, what're you doing?'', Bluey responded, confused. Surely, she'd know why he was here? After all, she seemed to know. Why else would she ask if he was ready with that sly smile on her face?
''Uh, I'm trying to escape?'', Jewel answered with a tone that could only be described as the tone you used when saying "Isn't it obvious?".
''Oh, right, escape. Yeah, that's where I was going…'', Bluey nervously responded. Jewel, however, wasn't buying his bullshit. Her anger levels started to climb.
''Woah, woah, woah… Did you actually think we were going to KISS?! We just met!'', Jewel snapped, as Bluey backed away, saying "No!" nervously and fearfully in a futile attempt to save his ass. Bluey backed into the tree trunk, with a furious Jewel before him.
''You pervert! What kind of girl do you think I am?!'', she shouted at him. Bluey responded with a rapid succession of stutters, and Jewel continued, ''Oh, what else where you gonna do, huh?!'', she shouted, hinting at him doing something more than just kissing her. It seemed she was hinting at the non-consensual kind, ''PERVERT!'', she screamed. Bluey somehow managed to get the courage to actually respond to her in a coherent sentence.
''I mean, I know how my feathers look, but I swear I'm not that kind of bird!'', Bluey responded. ''Pah!'', Jewel snorted in denial. Bluey quickly realised he was in deep trouble, as if everything that happened before wasn't an indicator.
''P-please I swear!'', Bluey pleaded, his voice clearly full of genuine fear. Jewel's expression dropped by a very slight amount, but it didn't matter. If the expression she had before meant she'd unload an entire revolver cartridge into him, then she expression she had now meant she'd unload 5 bullets into him. Sure, 5 bullets unloaded into you is better than 6 bullets, but you're still pretty much dead either way.
Martin and Luana had been watching them on the CCTV footage screen, and they'd seen that it had gone far down south.
''I think they need a little help.'', Luana mumbled, and Martin mouthed "No shit".
As Bluey prepared for his demise at the very angry talons of Jewel, a disco ball dropped down and the lights dimmed.
Say you… Say me…
Bluey began to blush intensely, as Jewel looked on in complete and utter confusion.
''Oh, come on, at least play something good!'', a worker who was next to them spoke. There were two workers in the room with Luana and Martin, as they wanted to watch their work pay off and Bluey and Jewel's wonderful species be saved. The worker played a song of his, ''Play some from the king!'', he exclaimed.
The song suddenly changed,
When the evening shadows fall,
and you're wondering who to call,
''Huh, this song's nice…'', Bluey softly commented, with a weak smile on his face. Jewel however, had no idea what these weird strings of sounds were, and what that human was saying.
For a little company,
there's always me…
''Ugh, Elvis sucks!'', another worker said in annoyance, ''Hey!'', the worker who put on the song responded.
The second worker put his song on.
The song changed, and Bluey instantly recognised that intro.
''Oh, God, stop it, stop it, please, I beg you!'', Bluey cried out to the humans.
Oh yeah…
''What the hell is going on?!'', Jewel snapped, and Bluey flinched.
''I don't know, I swear I'm not doing it!'', Bluey quickly responded. Jewel was beginning to get angry, as if she wasn't already before.
''Oh, you want a song written in innuendo contest? Fine, here's one, and it ain't Prince!'', Martin exclaimed, and he played his song.
Yet again, the song changed, and Bluey would've been relieved under normal circumstances, but the song that was now playing was also quite dirty.
And now I wanna, be your dog,
and now I wanna, be your dog,
''STOP IT!'', Jewel shouted in anger.
''Oh, come on!'', Bluey exclaimed on cue with Iggy saying, "Well come on!". Jewel was beginning to wear a look of fury, and Bluey gulped.
''LOOK, LETS JUST PLAY SLICE OF HEAVEN AND THAT'S FINAL!'', Luana snapped and played that song.
(Note: It begins 30 seconds in on the 4:39 version)
The song skipped and right on time, too, as it sure was very fitting. Jewel stared at him, breathing furiously like a bull ready to charge. Bluey nervously smiled,
''Mercy?'', he offered with a frightened and nervous smile. Jewel shook her head and she was smiling in fury,
''Oh, no…'', she responded with a murderous smile. Bluey let out a meep, and Jewel lunged at him, sending him right off the branch and into the leaves below.
Jewel attacked Bluey, and but they managed to get into a pose where Bluey held Jewel in his wings. He had to admit he liked the sensation, but of course, he knew she's gonna give him serious whoop-ass. The two stared at each other, beaks open and eyes wide in shock. Jewel soon pulled him down and out of sight of the cameras as they were under the leaves.
''Wow never knew Bluey liked it rough.'', Martin commented in awe, but his surprised expression changed into a proud one, ''That's my Bluey…'', he said with a proud smile. He got up,
''Let's give them some privacy.'', Luana told them, and Martin nodded, as did the two accompanying workers, though the one that played the Elvis Presley song did let out a huff of disappointment.
Unbeknownst but very knownst to Bluey, they unfortunately weren't having wild sex, but rather, it was a wild fight. Bluey didn't fight back, as he'd rather not piss her off even more somehow, and he knew he'd lose as she's far stronger than he was. His self defence was limited to light pushing and running like hell.
''GET BACK HERE, SO I CAN CLAW YOUR EYES OUT!'', Jewel roared as Bluey ran,
''I'D RATHER NOT, I LIKE MY EYES!'', Bluey responded in fear. He ran and ducked over a branch and quickly took a hair pin turn and dived into bushes and attempted to crawl his way away. Thinking he'd escaped, he let a small sigh of relief.
That was until he came across a branch, and a talon pulled him up. Jewel stared at him with a furious smile,
''Hi.'', she greeted in an ironically calm voice.
''Hi.'', Bluey nervously responded, and was thrown to the side. Bluey shrieked as Jewel charged right at him, attacking him. Bluey shoved her off and ran as fast as his little legs could take him. Jewel let out a cry of anger and Bluey in response, let out a cry of terror. He tripped over a log and face planted. He turned around and saw Jewel charge at him, with Slice of Heaven still playing. Bluey yelped in terror as Jewel once more, lunged right at him.
Well, that wraps up this chapter, I hope you enjoyed it!
This is probably the best chapter so far, and also the longest. The songs are, in order of appearance:
1. Say You, Say me, by Lionel Ritchie
2. There's Always Me, by Elvis Presley
3. Oh Yeah, by Yello
4. I Wanna Be Your Dog, by The Stooges
5. Slice of Heaven, by Dave Dobbyn
In retrospect, that music stuff is super cringeworthy, but I'm too lazy to change it and the suffering of the readers due to it brings me a little bit of joy, so yeah. (26/08/2021 lol)
Anyways, next chapter should be out soonish. Hopefully tomorrow or the day after.
Until next time, goodbye.
