-At the Young Devil Gathering Party Venue-
"Sirzechs, Natsu said that he had something that required his attention and not to wait up for him," Rias said as she approached her brother.
"It has something to do with Koneko," Rias whispered once she stood next to him. Sirzechs gave her a small nod before turning to the other leaders that had gathered.
"Devils Gods and Fallen Angels have seen the lessons of the past and together we chose to start a new chapter for the world at large. The peace we agreed upon is being threatened by the Khaos Brigade. Lord Odin, if there are no objections I ask you to please sign the pact that would join our forces together to protect the peace against this threat," Sirzechs said as he looked out over the young devils before turning to Odin for the request.
"Of course," Odin replied and moved to where he would sign the pact. Just as he was about to complete the signing a voice called out.
"Objection," the voice called out as a deep blue magic circle formed near the ceiling of the venue.
"He took longer than I expected," Odin mused as he, along with all the others gathered turned to the magic circle.
A man with eyes that belonged on a delinquent, light blue hair that floats behind him with two small bangs and a blue jewel on his forehead along with yellow earrings stepped out of the circle. He wore a long white robe.
"I am the Norse god Loki, greetings," Loki introduced himself.
"Even though you are the Norse god of mischief, you have no right to cause any problems here," Sirzechs said as Loki looked down on them with a smug grin.
"But how can I stand aside when our All-Father mingles with lesser mythologies causes me to suffer more than I can possibly describe," Loki replied with a holier than thou attitude.
"Loki as the All-Father I will forgive you for this interruption if you return to Valhalla immediately," Odin said as devil guards began to surround the mischievous god.
"You can shove your forgiveness. An alliance with the other mythologies it will make thing incredibly difficult for me to set Ragnarok in motion," Loki dismissed Odin's words.
"Listen here kid, you are nothing more than a puppet who follows the Khaos Brigades orders," Azazel said as he heard many iterations about doing things for some great goal, but the truth to all those talks were just to serve the Khaos Brigade.
"Oh heavens no, I will not call myself a puppet of the Khaos Brigade, rather a colleague. This entire plan is my very own brainchild. But enough of that my son would love to play with you," Loki said as he created a new portal on the ground at the guards' feet.
A giant wolf with ash grey fur appeared from within the portal with two large horns protruding from its shoulders. As the wolf appeared the guards were knocked back. The wolf let out a menacing growl and bared its razor-sharp teeth. With a snap of Loki's fingers, the wolf sprang into action.
"Be careful of that wolf, it is Fenrir, the God Devouring Wolf," Odin warned all those who were close enough to hear.
Fenrir sprang into action. He jumped onto one of the pillars that supported the roof to get a better vantage point to launch its first strike. It pushed off of the pillar and launched itself at the devil guards who first stood against his father.
The force generated by the wolf's jump dislodged some of the pillar's top support, sending a few blocks of rubble down on two young devils. Asia and Gasper had no way to prevent the rubble from falling on them and cowered with their arms attempting to cover them.
An ice shield sprouted from the pillar while a ray of lightning raced towards the wolf. Akeno and Grayfia stood with their hands extended and angered looks on their faces.
Relief flooded Asia and Gasper's faces as the rubble harmlessly crumbled as soon as it hit the icy shield.
The guards rushed the downed wolf after it crashed into the wall courtesy of Akeno's lighting attack.
Fenrir let out an enraged howl and slashed one of its gigantic claws at the guards. In their leap to impale the wolf, the guards opened themselves up to a counterattack that they could not stop.
Blood spattered on the floor and fear invaded the minds of some of the young devils. Gasper was one of these frightened devils.
'They say Loki is the god of mischief and that he is a master of illusions. I read that he can also bend some of the rules of reality to achieve his mischievous acts. If he can somehow bend some rules of reality then he might be able to use Gasper's powers against us,' Wendy thought as she saw the look of terror one Gasper's face.
Wendy disappeared from where she stood only to reappear in front of Gasper.
"Don't be afraid, nothing will happen here. Just look into my eyes and focus on me," Wendy said as she grabbed the Dhampir by the shoulder and allowed a comforting breeze to blow over them.
Gasper locked his fear-filled eyes with the comforting ones of Wendy and allowed the calming breeze of a summer day to calm his mind.
"See there is nothing to fear, we will never let someone close to us get hurt," Wendy said with a smile.
'It's good that he calmed down, now he might even be able to help out if it's needed,' Wendy thought to herself.
"Fenrir let out another howl and searched for the one who hit it with lightning. Fenrir's eyes fell on Akeno who had a defiant look on her face. With a growl, it advanced on Akeno with its fangs bared.
Baraqiel was about to step in but he was interrupted by a blur of blue, flashing in front of the beast.
Blood gushed out of the beast's new wound on its muzzle. Fenrir recoiled and let out a pained howl before its eyes searched for the one who attacked it this time.
Xenovia stood next with her sword at the ready by Akeno's side.
"Natsu would be devastated if you got hurt," Xenovia smiled at Akeno.
"So you didn't protect me because we are friends?" Akeno asked in mock hurt before letting out a giggle.
"You don't seem to be frightened or even concerned about the situation. You are not as experienced as the Satans and even some of the other devils here, yet you face Fenrir, the God Devouring Wolf as if it was just another foe. This is not the despair I wanted to see, to be honest," Loki said with a confused look on his face at the seemingly fearless girls.
"It's not that we aren't afraid of him, it's just that we have seen something much more frightening so this isn't anything new," Akeno replied with a shrug.
"I would love to see what is more frightening than Fenrir, who can kill a God, Satan or even one of the Dragon Kings," Loki said with a grin, thinking that the new information will instil fear into the two.
"I doubt that this mutt can kill the True Dragon King," Xenovia scoffed.
Fenrir let out an angry growl at being called a mutt and with fangs, bared it jumped at the two devils.
"That will be quite enough of that," Grayfia said as she surrounded the wolf while two teleportation spells formed below both Fenrir and Loki.
"I will not allow you to disrupt this meeting any longer, begone," Ajuka said as he activated the teleportation circles.
As the frozen wolf and the scowling god disappeared a cheer went up from the young devils.
Akeno and Xenovia shared a grin while Rias looked out of one of the windows with a little bit of worry.
-With Koneko and Natsu-
"And who might you be?" Kuroka asked Natsu as he made his entrance.
"I'm simply one who cares for Koneko and I have promised her I would help her accept who she is," Natsu replied.
"Then just hand her over to me, I am the best person to aid her in realising her true powers," Kuroka said with a smile, hoping this newcomer will abide by her request.
"You might be her sister and a Nekoshou but I believe with the resources and knowledge at my disposal I will do a better job at revealing to her what it truly means to be one of the Nekoshou," Natsu replied while smiling at Koneko.
"What can you possibly know about us, a near-extinct species," Kuroka asked with a bit of venom in her voice.
"K-Kuroka please don't antagonise him," Bikou asked his companion with fear evident in his voice.
"This is a rare sight Bikou, do you know this man?" Kuroka asked the frightened man.
"His name and this aura he releases, it has to be the same one we encountered when we were with Ophis during that attack on that school during the last meeting the Three Factions had," Bikou said, clutching the sides of his head with eyes filled with fear.
"You are telling me this guy here is a Dragon?" Kuroka asked with a sceptic tone.
"Y-Yes, no, I don't know. It's just this feeling," Bikou said while trying to find a reason for Natsu not to be that Dragon.
"You must be mistaken, I think you just got an unnatural fear for fire because as you can see this is a man, not a dragon," Kuroka stated matter-of-factly in an attempt to get her ally out of the gutters.
"Y-You're right, it's just some irrational fear of fire, yes he can't possibly be a Dragon," Bikou steadied himself.
"Not that this moment isn't touching but I have a promise to keep and you, Kuroka will help me with that promise," Natsu said. On the inside, Natsu was cracking up at the prospect of revealing to Bikou that he was indeed the Dragon King that struck fear into the man but first he wanted someone to entertain him while he helps Koneko face her past.
"And why would I help you?" Kuroka asked.
"What I want you to do is face Koneko in battle, that is what you were planning on doing anyway right?" Natsu asked Kuroka with a grin.
"I don't know what your definition of helping is but she can't possibly defeat me, if we face one another she will be defeated and I will take her with me to show her how to be a true Nekoshou," Kuroka said with a giggle.
'This man must be insane. Well, whatever, this might make getting Shirone easier,' Kuroka thought to herself.
"Let's see what happens when two Nekoshou faces one another, I will just keep your friend here busy," Natsu said with a smirk as he turned on Bikou.
"Are you sure about that Natsu?" Koneko asked.
"Do you trust me?" Natsu asked with a serious face while looking Koneko in the eyes.
"Yes," came the short reply from Koneko.
"I promise you I will give you all the tools to get over your fear of your powers and when you see that you can control your power, instead of it controlling you as you fear we can move on to the next step," Natsu said with determination.
Koneko gave Natsu a nod before turning to face Kuroka. With a burst of speed, Koneko dashed towards Kuroka, intending on catching her off guard and landing the first blow.
Koneko's hopes were fulfilled when she connected to Kuroka with her fist, sending the older Nekoshou tumbling off the branch she was previously on.
"I must commend you on your natural speed, just imagine how fast you will be if you use the powers you have as a Nekoshou," Kuroka said with a smirk. A purple aura covered Kuroka and with inhumane speeds, she appeared in front of Koneko.
"You see Shirone, by using this Youjutsu skill known as Touki I can increase my strength, speed and defences far above the level that you can achieve without it," Kuroka said with a smile as she delivered a devastating hit to Koneko's stomach.
The hit sent Koneko strait to where Bikou was waiting with his staff at the ready. Wanting to take advantage of her defenceless position Bikou swung his staff to where Koneko would be.
"Not too hard Bikou, as I said, I don't want to hurt her too badly," Kuroka called out as she saw what her partner was about to do.
Natsu made his fist move and grabbed hold of Bikou's staff, completely stopping its trajectory while also catching Koneko with his other arm.
"That sure packed a punch," Koneko muttered as she was gently caught by Natsu.
"You have to use the powers you were born with Koneko, and don't worry about it controlling you, I am right here and as soon as I sense any change in your control I will bring you back to your senses," Natsu whispered to her.
"But I don't want to resort to that, at least not yet," Koneko replied with determination.
"Then I have another proposition. I will give you the means to defeat her but after that, you and I will work together on your Nekoshou powers," Natsu said with a serious voice.
"I want to do this on my own, please," Koneko said as she walked back to where Kuroka was waiting with an amused smirk.
"Remember that I am here, and even if you don't want the help I offer, I will step in when I see the need," Natsu said as she walked back to her fight.
"I want to see how far I can manage on my own, but thank you Natsu," Koneko replied over her shoulder before dashing at Kuroka with her fists ready.
"Now for you, first you threaten one that is close to me in my presence then you attempt to strike her when I told the lot of you this was between them, I think this requires punishment," Natsu said with a demonic grin as he returned his attention to Bikou.
Bikou attempted to rip his staff from Natsu's iron grip but once he realised that was impossible he decided to use the Replication Youjutsu he knew to multiply himself and attack Natsu from all sides. There were now four duplicates of Bikou along with the original who was still trying to rip the staff away from Natsu.
"Trying to overwhelm me with numbers, how about I show you just how fruitless that is," Natsu said in his demonic voice as black flames engulfed his body. Natsu grabbed the first duplicate and incinerated it with his demonic flames before sending a kick to the second duplicate. The second duplicate shared a fate similar to the first when flames engulfed it, leaving nothing but ash in its wake.
The last two duplicates attacked from each side of Natsu. Natsu decided to release the staff in his grip in order to free both his hands. Natsu grabbed the last two duplicates by the throats each before smashing their heads into each other.
"Come now at this rate I will die of boredom," Natsu taunted the man.
A golden aura surrounded Bikou in a similar way to the purple aura that surrounded Kuroka when she activated her Touki, but in this case, the aura also extended to his staff.
"Now that's more I like it," Natsu grinned as he readied his flaming fists.
Koneko and Kuroka were in a fierce melee with Koneko attempting to hit Kuroka and Kuroka either dodging the hits or deflecting them with ease.
"This is getting boring, I think it's time for me to use this little technique," Kuroka said as she released a purple mist. As the mist surrounded Koneko she sunk to her knees, unable to move.
Well, there you have it, chapter 35 done. Just a heads up for updates in the near future, my exams are fast approaching so I won't be able to put as much time into the story as I had previously. I will still be writing both my stories only at a slower pace until exams are over. Other than that let me know your thoughts on this chapter and see ya next time.
