The lights in Leyndell appear to burn brighter within its halls. All things golden seeking to outshine the other. But not one shines brighter than its matriarch, Queen Marika the Eternal. The moniker holds true, beguiling and youthful she still is. Why even Radagon chose to return to the Golden City to replace Lord Godfrey as Elden Lord.
Not even a week upon their return from the war with the giants, did the Queen announce their banishment as Tarnished and Radagon as the second Elden Lord. Woe is their General, Godfrey, pushed away at the loss of his hunger for battle.
In his haste to prevent his banishment, Vaughn asked for pardon. Ridiculed was he in the face of his fellow warriors, begging in the throne room for the chance to stay in the Lands Between.
When two soldiers tried to muscle him out, he fought back. More knights pour into the room as he knocks more of their brethren. Seeing that Vaughn cannot be taken down by sheer strength, they resolved to using incantations.
The Queen for her part looks on, amused.
He sees one golden knight bring up their spear in the air, and quickly rolls out of the lightning's way before it can electrify him. Most have imbued their weapons with it.
Clearly outnumbered and surrounded.
He slams his hand to the ground then pulls it out, several shockwaves came from where he stood, destroying the stone floor and injuring several soldiers.
Vaughn could hear many things, the crumbling walls, the painful groans of the soldiers who are a few feet from and… the crunch of gravel as a colossal sword comes his way.
Expertly avoiding the attack, he jumps out of the way to create a distance between him and his assailant.
Maliketh, Marika's half-brother, chases him swiftly despite the size of his blade and the armor he wears. Vaughn pulls out his Zweihander to parry the incoming strike. The beastman halts, momentarily stunned that a mortal was able to withstand his assault.
His opponent brings his blade down toward him and he retaliates with an upward slash, the sheer strength of the motion almost disarms Maliketh. It created an opening for him, Vaughn delivers a kick, sending him to the wall.
"Cease this, warrior." The lilt.
"You've proven yourself." Identical.
"Such show of raw power." It rings true to his ears.
"Reminds me of my Lord Godfrey." There was no pain. But there were already three arrows notched on his body.
There was no pain. Even when Maliketh's armored hand rammed his head on the floor.
