chapter 29- fighting the past

Years before

A six year old Emma sat in her room in the foster home when little Abigail walked in. "Emma can you tell me a story ."

"Sure come up here." Emma said as she patted the bed next to her. Abigail got up on the bed and sat next to Emma.

Once upon a time, there lived a man and woman and they were happy because they were going to have a baby but something went wrong. On the day the child was born a evil witch came and wanted to take away they happiness which meant the couple had to send they child away." Emma said.

"What happened to the child?" Abigail asked. " I`m the child and I am going to find my parents and go after the evil witch."Emma said.

Just then Simon walked into the room. "That`s a lovely story Emma what a shame it won`t come true. Your parents left you on the side of a road."

"It`s a story but no one knows who my parents are so it could be true and I will find them."

"Yes you might but right now you`re mine and it`s time to play my favourite game."

Emma knew what that meant and grabbed the first thing she could which was a glass and throw it over his head. Simon fall down and Emma and Abigail ran out of the room and out of the house to the neighbour Mrs Sunbarry.

Present day, Emma kept running until she got to the town line and dropped down to the ground.

A few seconds Emma got up "This is my home now and I`m not going to let him take it away from me." Emma ran back to town.

Simon knocked on the door and Mary Margent opened the door. "Hello, I think you should know the truth about your foster daughter Emma."

" I know everything." Said Mary Margent who opened the door wider to show Emma sitting at the table.

"You can`t believe her, she`s a liar." "Oh but I talked to Abigail and your neighbour and your Ex-wife. Now you are going to leave or I will call the Sheriff who will believe me because he`s a friend."

Knowing that he lost Simon turned around and left.

Mary Margent sat down at the table across from Emma. "How did you know? I only told you my side of the story, you didn`t call anyone."

"You`re a good kid Emma and I read your file. Emma you said you were at the town line what made you came back?"

At the town line, Simon is driving out of town when he got to the town line, he saw Regina standing in the middle of the road. Simon stopped the car and got out.

"What do you want?"

"Leaving so soon, I thought you and Miss Swan have some catching up to do."

"She is not as sweet as people think she is. Simon said. "Tell me about Emma Swan."

"She`s a little liar." "What`s her background, who are her parents?"

"No one knows, she was found on the side of the road as a baby, she was just wrapped in a blanket. Look I should be going." Simon said and got back in his car and drove off, leaving Regina in the middle of the road.

In Regina`s office, Regina is sitting at her deck reading when Emma`s file when David enter the room.

"Why on earth did you do that".

"Yes I was wondering when you would came." "Why did you bring Emma`s old foster father? Were you hoping she would run away out of the town."

"Why do you care? She`s just a little girl. Why do you care about her?" "She`s a sweet kid who had a hard life, I want to show her, she can trust people. Leave Emma alone. David said and when left the room.

Regina picked up a photo of Emma from her file and put it on a board with arrows pointing to photos of Snow White and Prince Charming. With a question mark next to the photo of Emma.

David went back to his room and read Emma`s diary the pages about the time she stayed with Simon.

At the beach, Emma sat on the sand with her sketch book in her lap. With everything that happened Emma started to write a letter to Abigail.

A few minutes later, Lily came over and sat next to Emma.

"Can I look in your sketchbook?" Emma gave Lily the sketchbook and Lily flipped through it.

At the top of the beach Mr Gold stood by the entrance watching the girls.
