No.12 Grimmauld Place

The Order of the phoenix was bustling around the dining table of Grimmauld place, Albus couldn't be happier with the number of people willing to fight the dark. As the wizened old man observed the members of the order he couldn't help but drift over to perhaps his greatest failure, the Potters. After their attack that fateful Halloween night they had never been the same. Albus couldn't help but blame himself for what happened.

Flashback

Halloween night, 1981.

It was a quiet night in Godric's hollow as Dorea Potter nee black was babysitting for her son so they could meet with Albus and his Order. Dorea could not help but look fondly over her grandchildren, little Hadrian, with his hair black as night and emerald, green eyes that would sometimes glow when she made him laugh, and sweet Elizabeth, who was the spitting image of her mother, but with her fathers' eyes. Her musing over her grandchildren was cut short as she felt a chill go up her spine, the next moment she heard a crash downstairs as the door was smashed from the outside in. She quickly made her way to the banister at the top of the stairs. From her position, she could see who it was, and it made her heart freeze. Voldemort.

She quickly ran back into the children's room and as she shut the door she took out her wand and created as many protective barriers she could think of, she knew it would not last long but would buy her some time, after placing all the protection she could she gripped the Thestral pendant she wore and pushed her magic through to it, knowing her son would feel the response on this and would rush to her aid with the backing of the order. She quickly turned around and with speed not expected from one so old, she gripped her wand and slashed open her wrist, with her blood she painted two runes onto Hadrian's head, she knew her death was imminent and wanted to ensure the Children survived. Almost as soon as she had finished the second rune on Hadrian and was about to paint the same ones on Elizabeth, the door was destroyed, a testament to the dark lord's power and he shattered the wars she placed, thinking quickly she jumped in front of the crib trying to shield her grandchildren.

"Move", it was all the monster said, but she would not, she would not let this monster touch her grandchildren. "Move" he said again with even more force. But she would not respond, she would not give him the satisfaction and as only a black could she raised her chin and looked at him defiantly, knowing she would likely die here if only to give her Grandchildren the protection they would need and to give more time for the order to arrive.

"Very Well" and with an almost negligent wave of the bone-white wand, a green light flew from its tip and struck Dorea where she stood.

Voldemort stopped and looked at the elderly woman before him, "Defiant till the end", he quickly walked past her and surveyed the two children in front of him. One was still asleep, but the older boy was not, he was gripping the bars of the crib and standing Infront of his sister, staring at him almost defiantly. He decided then and there who was the prophesied child and muster all the rage and hate he could, he pointed his wand at the older child and said full of wrath and hate "Avada Kedavra". He watched with almost a sicken glee as the Emerald light flew towards the boy, but instead of watching the boy fall lifeless he saw the blood runes glow, and suddenly he was struck with that same light, he felt his soul being ripped from his very body, and with faint anguish scream his body fell to the floor, and the wraith flew form the cottage.

Seconds later pops were heard from front of the cottage, as the Order of the phoenix headed by Albus Dumbledore ran into the cottage, as they ran up and into the Children's room an anguished cry was heard from James as he looked upon the lifeless corpse of his mother, Lily quickly ran behind him yelling "My Babies" and ran to them, she could see Hadrian lying down the Crib and Elizabeth bawling. She quickly picked up her daughter and attempted to comfort both Elizabeth and James who was listlessly holding onto his mother. It was Albus who first noticed Hadrian and as he picked up the small toddler he noticed an odd scar on his Forehead, it was shaped like an odd combination of the Egis and Warrior rune before he could properly investigate, he was called upon.

"Albus, look at this", as Albus turned to Sturgis he followed his arm to the smoldering robe. After quickly checking on Hadrian and ensuring he was fine, just exhausted, and asleep, he gently placed him back with Lily who was gently stroking James's back. With trepidation, he turned to the still smoldering robe, and then he noticed what had Sturgis so shaken. A bone-white wand was clear on top of the Robe. "This was Voldemort" Albus intoned in a deep gravelly voice, immediately Lily blanched and hugged her children tighter. "What happened here Albus, how could he get passed the Fidelous," a hysterical James asked, no longer holding his mother's body but taking comfort in his family. "It would appear that Peter has decided to choose another path my boy". Having heard this James turned red in Rage "I will kill that rat Bastard" he yelled, he was ready to run out of the house and go hunting for Peter, but a soft hand on his shoulder stopped him. "James, we will get Peter, but let the Aurors handle this, please" Looking into his wife's eyes and realizing how much she needed him, he nodded his head. Looking back at Albus James asked the question no one else seems to know "Albus what happened" "I don't know James, but it would appear that when Dorea faced Voldemort she used her death to power an old Norse ritual, one that would give protection to the recipient" It only now did the rest of the room notice the fading runes on Hadrian's forehead. "It would appear that when Voldemort attempted to kill the Children Doreas protection sprung to life and flung the curse back at him"

Elizabeth suddenly awoke and began struggling in her mother's grasp, it was then that she noticed the bleeding cut on her cheek, it was in the shape of a V. She quickly attempted to heal the cut but when it would not close, she asked Albus to look. Picking up the child he could feel the Dark magic emanating from the Cut. "It would appear that the curse struck Elizabeth, I can feel the dark magic emanating from her Scar". Not realizing the cut was from a piece of broken wood from where Voldemort both was thrown back into the dressing table.

Present Day.

If only Albus knew what this would do to the Family, he would have never opened his mouth. After that night it marked a new Era for not just the Wizarding world, but for the Potters, the four of them quickly moved back to Potter Manor and from there the Fame and power quickly went to their heads, as the public quickly began calling Elizabeth the Girl Who Lived, as they paraded around with their daughter soaking up all the attention and money they could, what they failed to notice was Hadrian, always in the background, and all to soon forgotten. It happened slowly, a missed meal here, a missed bedtime story there, and all too soon Hadrian became just a shadow within Potter Manor with only the elves to look after him.

Albus could not believe it was 7 Years ago that Hadrian disappeared, at just 8 Years old he left Potter manor, with a short note to the house-elves he loved so much saying he would miss them, and he was gone. No amount of magic could find him, nothing Albus tried would work. The only good thing that came from it was the Potters quickly realizing what they had done and working tirelessly to find Hadrian and bring him home. After 7 years they were slowly losing hope, when his Hogwarts letter failed to reach him was a day Albus wept, mourning the loss of a young, bright boy whose life he destroyed. Looking over to the Potters he could see they were still ashamed of what they had done, James' eyes hung with a dark circle, Lily's old Vibrant red hair, now a dull copper, and young Elizabeth who at a time could be seen strutting around and basking in the fame, now looked more lost and sullen.

As he looked at the order, he saw the Weasleys, both Arthur, and Molly, strong supporters of the light, their Eldest Bill with his new Girlfriend Fleur Delacour, the Beauxbatons champion from the Triwizard tournament, the same tournament that Elizabeth was entered into and the Dark Lord Voldemort rose again. The twins Fred and George who even Albus struggled to tell who was who, and finally young Ronald and Ginevra close friends to Elizabeth. Alastair Moody was also present in the Corner, her Electic false blue eye was spinning around checking all corners of the room, after gaining his strength back from his time in a chest form that deranged Death Eater Barty Crouch jr. a tired and haggard looking Remus Lupin was also around the Table with his old Friend Sirius black and his younger cousin a newly minted Auror Nymphadora Tonks.

Albus quickly rose and everyone chatting quieted down, "My friends I thank you all for coming, does anyone have anything new to add". As it appeared there was nothing new to add Albus was about to speak about the next steps to combating Voldemort when Severus Snape, Albus's double Agent within the Death Eaters came running into the kitchen, throwing open the door as he tried to catch his breath. "Albus, there's going to be an attack". This got the attention of the rest of the Order, looking at his old friend and college Albus asked "Breath Severus, what is happening" "The dark lord has ordered an attack on a house in America" This statement confused the order, "A Single house Severus, why would Tom order this" "I know not Albus, but he has tasked Lucius to gather Fenrir and his Wolves along with a small gathering of death eaters to attack the house". "Then we must help, Do you have the address" He was quickly handed an address on parchment, with a quick summoning charm to a plate he noted" Portus" and as the plate glowed a soft blue he quickly created a portkey to the House.

As Albus looked onto the Order he could see the same thing stretched out over their faces a mixture of Fear and excitement. "All those willing grab on, we may be able to help those being attacked". As the order grabbed onto the dinner plate, he quickly activated the portkey. Not noticing that the younger Children had grabbed on.
