I just saw Pokémon Journeys episode 105, and I honestly really loved the fact that Serena came back, but was kinda disappointed at the lack of time she and Ash had together, especially at how they made no mention of what happened to them. So, that's why I decided to make this one-shot special where the two of them had a moment together. I admit that Serena is not my most favorite girl, but I will admit that she's in the top 3 for having the guts to express her feelings for Ash.

I hope you all enjoy this one-shot special, I did my best with what I could. Remember, this is just my version of what should have happened between Ash and Serena in the newest episode, and only hope you enjoy this. Read and enjoy.

One-shot: Reunion and returning the favor.

Despite running through the streets of Lilycove City with his fellow research partner, Ash couldn't help but feel like he was on top of the world. He's accomplished much ever since his victory at the Alola League and against Professor Kukui. Ever since he became research assistants with his friend Goh, things have gone his way very good. Sure there was a few bad cases and troubles then and now, but he's truly felt like he's grown a lot.

He's captured powerful Pokémon such as his Dragonite, Gengar, Lucario, Sirfetch'd and Dracovish. He may not have caught as much as Goh, but Ash was completely satisfied with the five he's captured. They've all easily become some of the most powerful Pokémon he's ever caught alongside Pikachu.

That statement was proven when they entered the Pokémon World Championships and battled some of the greatest trainers in the world. He's battled Gym Leaders, Elite Four members and Champions, even defeating them. He's defeated strong trainers such as the Shalour City Gym Leader Korrina, his old friend Iris who became the number one trainer of Unova and champion, and most recently, the Kalos Elite 4 member; Drasna.

He's grown so much stronger and obtained incredible items to help him. Not too long ago, he obtained a Key Stone for himself and a Mega Stone for his Lucario with help from Korrina and her grandfather. Ash and his Lucario had obtained Mega Evolution without trouble thanks to their special bond that they created overtime since Lucario was a Riolu.

Then there was his Gengar, who was now his go-to Gigantamax Pokémon. They had a little trouble at first with Gigantamaxing, but thanks to some help from Allister and eating Max Soup, Gengar was able to obtain his Gigantamax form. Thanks to Gengar's new Gigantamax form, Ash was able to defeat a new rival of his named Marine and her Grimmsnarl in a championship battle.

Although Dragonite, Sirfetch'd and Dracovish couldn't Mega Evolve, nor does Ash Dynamax them, the three have proven to be extremely powerful Pokémon. Dragonite defeated Korrina's Mega Lucario and Iris's fully evolved Haxorus, Sirfetch'd defeated Drasna's Mega Altaria with Meteor Assault before passing out and Dracovish defeated powerful opponents like Iris' Dragonite and Drasna's Novern.

Pikachu, while not able to Mega Evolve or Gigantamax whenever they wanted, easily made up for it with his strong battling spirit and their special Z-move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. Ash knew that he could count on their partner whenever he needed to and that Pikachu would come through for him.

It was thanks to his Pokémon's hard efforts and their teamwork that Ash was able to make it to the top of the Hyper Class of the Pokémon World Championships; 9th place. After winning against so many incredible and powerful trainers, Ash was starting to feel like he deserved the title of Alola Pokémon League Champion.

Another reason for his good mood was that throughout his journey with Goh, Ash was able to see and reunite with so many of his old friends, such as Dawn, Brock, Iris, Cynthia, Volkner, Korrina, Gary, his old Alola classmates and most recently, Clemont and Bonnie. Ash had missed his old friends much and was really happy to see them all again and doing so well.

Today was another day of traveling with Goh, this time their destination was Hoenn for Goh to capture an Altaria since he wanted one. They came here to Lilycove City and managed to find one, but that capture had ended in failure. Just then, they spotted on a nearby wide screen a famous Pokémon Coordinator named Lisia scout out their friend, Chloe to participate in a Pokémon Contest, much to their surprise.

Goh called his childhood friend and spoke to her a bit, before they decided to meet up with her at the Lilycove Pokémon Contest. However, on their way there, they were stopped by the Gym Leader and famous Pokémon Coordinator, Wallace. Ash didn't remember him at first and tried to rush to the contest with Goh, only to be stopped by Wallace. It was only when he mentioned the Wallace Cup that Ash was able to remember him, but he did feel a little bad at not remembering him.

Wallace explained how his niece Lisia, the top idol, was performing in Contests, but Goh and Ash were in a rush to enter the Contest building to meet up with Chloe and watch her performance. They again attempted to take off, but Wallace stopped them again. He explained how he has been watching Ash's battles in the Pokémon World Championship, much to Ash's slight embarrassment.

Wallace confessed that he was not competing in the World Championships, he felt like his meeting with Ash was a stroke of fate. He suggested a battle between him and Ash, which surprised him and Goh. Wallace explained that he was an equal to the Hoenn Region Champion, Steven Stone, something that Ash was easily able to remember, much to the slight annoyance of Wallace.

Ash was instantly in high spirits and accepted the battle, all thoughts of hurrying gone and replaced with battling Wallace. Goh had no choice but to watch as Ash and Wallace battled in a three-on-three battle, but was able to watch the Contest on his Rotom Phone. Ash first battled with Dragonite, while Wallace used a Swampert. Then, they switched up with Ash then using Dracovish and Wallace calling out a Walrein. The two trainers enjoyed their battle greatly, losing track of time and missing the Pokémon Contest.

Down to their last Pokémon, they called out their aces. Ash called out Pikachu, and Wallace used his famous Milotic. It was tough, but Pikachu was able to defeat the Water type, earning his trainer the victory. Wallace was impressed with Ash's skills and congratulated him on his victory. Goh tried to rush to the Pokémon Contest, but the famous Gym Leader stopped them once more.

He awarded Ash a Rain Badge for his victory, and then his scarf so that Ash wouldn't forget about him. Wallace then gave much praise to the young boy, but then Goh caught sight of an Altaria. Just like with Ash, Goh lost all reasoning and chased after the Dragon and Flying type Pokémon to catch it with Ash having to chase after him.

It took a while, but Goh managed to capture Altaria, but the downside was that they missed the Pokémon Contest completely and it was almost time for them to catch the boat ride back to Kanto. The two trainers right now are running as fast as they could with Pikachu and Grookey hanging on tight to their trainers.

They managed to enter the ferry and buy tickets for the boat and were now running to it. They ran out to the shore, where they saw Chloe already on the ship, carrying Eevee in her arms, looking down towards someone standing on the shoreline with a Sylveon next to her. "Chloe!" Ash and Goh called out to their friend, getting her attention as she turned and saw the two boys running up the shoreline with their Pokémon on their shoulders.

"There you guys are, what took you so long?!" Chloe questioned with a small frown as the two boys came up to the shoreline, while the unknown person turned their head right to look at Chloe's friends. "I battled Wallace!" Ash answered with a wide smile as he ran passed the unknown person and boarded the ship. "And I caught Altaria!" Goh added, running pass the same person and boarded the ship.

Ash and Goh climbed up the small staircase of the ship towards their friend; however, a voice stopped them. "Ash!" A familiar voice called out to the Kanto boy, stopping both Ash and Goh in their tracks. For Goh, he was confused at who called his best friend's name like that. Chloe looked down at her new friend in confusion at how she knew the name of her father's research assistant.

For Ash however, he felt his world stop at hearing a voice he hasn't heard for a long time. He looked over his left shoulder towards the individual standing on the shoreline and finally noticed who it was. It wasn't a random person; it was an old and important friend of his that he traveled around Kalos with. It was Serena!

She had changed a bit since Ash last saw her. She was wearing a new outfit instead of her old one that he last saw her in. She was wearing a dark gray hat, dark gray sleeveless sweat shirt, red bracelet on the left wrist, a red skirt with white traces, dark gray stockings and brown large boots that reached her knees. Serena also had red ribbon-shape earrings on. Despite her new look, Ash was easily able to recognize her thanks to Serena's blue eyes and short honey coloured hair.

Ash grew a wide and massive smile as he turned to fully look down towards his old friend. "Serena!" He exclaimed in joy as Pikachu grew a wide smile himself at seeing the girl. "It's been so long…!" Serena greeted the raven haired boy with a wide smile as Ash walked down the staircase a little to get a bit closer to her. "How've you been?" The raven haired boy asked with a happy voice, getting the honey haired girl to smile brightly as she held her arms up to the sides.

"I've been doing great, Ash!" Serena replied with her eyes closed, while Sylveon gave a happy cry. She then opened her eyes and looked down at Pikachu, who was being carried by Ash's left arm. "Pikachu, you look great". The Pokémon Performer said to the Electric Mouse happily. "Pikachu!" Pikachu replied with a voice full of spirit, happy to see another old friend and that it was Serena of all people. Goh, Chloe, Grookey and Eeevee all looked confused at Ash and Serena, wondering how they knew each other. "You two know each other?" Chloe asked with a confused voice, getting Ash to look over his left shoulder towards her. "We used to travel together". The raven haired boy answered, before he turned to look back at his old friend.

As he stared at her, Ash was truly happy to see her again. Serena was perhaps the closest traveling companion he had ever had, as he had met her before he started his journey in Kalos. He couldn't remember it completely, but Ash remembered meeting and saving her in the forest in Kanto all those years ago in Professor Oak's Summer camp. He has missed her a lot since they parted ways in Kalos when she went to perform in Pokémon Contests here in Hoenn, maybe even more than any of his old traveling companions, so he was happy to see her again.

"Serena, I'm competing in the Pokémon World Championships right now, so that I can become the best trainer". Ash told the honey haired girl, staring right into her eyes despite their distance. "I'm taking part in Pokémon Contests. If you're going to be the best, I'll aim to be the best performer, too". Serena replied to the Alola Champion with a wide smile, full of spirit just from seeing the boy who saved her long ago.

Ash gave a nod of approval towards his old traveling companion. "Let's both do our best!" Ash exclaimed to her, which Serena nodded to him. "Yeah! I'll make you proud". She replied to the Alola Champion, getting Ash's smile to grow larger than before. Suddenly, Ash's mind flashed back to all the times he spent with Serena in their Kalos journey.

He remembered how they reunited, when she returned his handkerchief to him, them searching for gifts together, battling together during that summer camp, their battle together against Miette and that random guy, their fight after his defeat against Wulfric. Lastly, he thought back to when they said good-bye to one another.

He remembered it clearly; at the airport at the escalator. Ash remembered Serena thanking him, saying how glad she was that she traveled with him. And how she wanted to become just like him, something that still confuses Ash as he had no idea what she meant by that. Then, they said their good-byes as Serena stepped onto the escalator, and slowly began to leave.

Then, suddenly she called out to him, saying that there was one last thing, much to his past confusion. He, Clemont, Bonnie, Pikachu and Dedenne watched as Serena ran up the escalator towards Ash, much to his confusion, stood on her tippy toes...

And then kissed him right on the lips.

It didn't last long as the escalator continued to take Serena down, but her objective had been completed. Clemont turned bright red, Bonnie's face flushed and her hands were on her cheeks. Dedenne's tail went straight up and had its hands on its cheeks as well. Pikachu's eyes turned into anime white dots and his ears crossed together, all with a flushed face.

Ash had a completely stun look on his face, and Serena just had a shy look and blush on her face, before she bright brightly and thanked him. Ash soon smiled brightly back at her and bid farewell to her, believing that one day they'd reunite. And his beliefs were rewarded as they had just reunited today. Ash then decided to do something that he has been waiting for since he last saw her.

Ash then suddenly jumped off of the boat and landed on the shoreline, much to the surprise of everyone at his unexpected actions as the boat was about to take off any second now. "Ash!?" Goh exclaimed with wide eyes, looking down towards his best friend. "What are you doing?" Chloe questioned with her eyes just as wide as her childhood friend, wanting to know what Ash was up to now. "Grookey? /Eevee?" Grookey and Eevee said in confusion, wondering what the Kanto boy was up to.

Just like Goh, Chloe, Grookey and Eevee, Serena and Sylveon were surprised at Ash's actions. The raven haired boy then came right up to his old friend, while Pikachu climbed up to his left shoulder. "Ash, what are you…?" Serena questioned the Alola Champion with wide eyes as Ash stopped right in front of her. Ash just gave her a confident grin as he knew exactly what he was doing. "I'm just returning a favor that I've been waiting to return". He answered the honey haired girl, much to Serena's further confusion. Ash then leaned his head forward towards Serena's and then…

He kissed her right on the lips!

This caused mixed reactions from everyone. Goh and Chloe screamed out in complete surprise with their faces bright red and eyes anime white. Even Grookey and Eevee had similar expressions as their trainers and were crying out as well. Pikachu made the exact same face as when Serena kissed Ash back in the airport with his ears folded together. Even Sylveon's face was blushing red and had her ribbons on her blushing cheeks.

Serena had wide eyes of disbelief at what was happening, while Ash had a normal expression despite kissing his old friend right now. The two old friends still had their eyes open even as they had their lips together, staring into each other's eyes. The kiss didn't last long, perhaps just a total of 10 seconds, before Ash pulled away and broke the kiss.

Everything was quiet as everyone stared at Ash and Serena, who paid no attention to the others and only kept eye contact with one another. Ash had a smile on his face as he stared at Serena's flushed expression as she stared at him. The silence was broken by the ship's horn, getting Ash to look over his shoulder as the ship began to set sail. He quickly ran back on board just in time as the boat left the shoreline.

The Alola Champion went up the staircase, before he turned around and placed his hands on the railing to look back at Serena. The honey haired girl still had a dazed look on her face from Ash's unexpected kiss, even Sylveon was still blushing. Ash just grinned at her happily, before he lifted his right hand up and gave a wave to her. "I'll see you soon, Serena! Good luck!" Ash bid farewell to his old friend, finally snapping Serena out of her daze as she slowly grew her own smile and began waving her right hand good-bye to him. "Yeah! Bye Ash, I'll be cheering for you and Chloe!" Serena cried out with a happy voice, pouring her heart into her words.

Ash and Serena continued to wave good-bye to one another before eventually, they disappeared from each other's view as the sun almost set for the day. Ash brought his hand down as he stared off into the distance, right where he last saw Serena. His reunions with his old friends brought him great joy, but that one with Serena easily surpassed them all in happiness for him.

The Alola champion turned to look at his friends, only to blink at their disbelief expressions that were directed at him. Even their Pokémon were staring at him in disbelief. Ash raised an eyebrow at their looks, before he turned to look at Pikachu, only to blink at seeing the expression on Pikachu's face. The Electric type still had the same disbelief look on his face. Sure, he might have been expecting a kiss if Ash and Serena reunited, but he honestly expected Serena to do it, not Ash. So, the whole ordeal left the Electric Mouse in complete shock at his dense trainer actually doing something romantic to a girl that liked him.

Ash gave an amused chuckle at their looks, before he turned to look up at Goh and Chloe. "What's up with those faces?" The Alola Champion asked his two friends, placing both of his hands on the hips. Goh and Chloe were both silent, before the Assistant Researcher slowly brought up his right hand and pointed at Ash with the index finger. "A-Ash…? W-what…was that…?" Goh questioned with the disbelief completely leaking through his voice. Ash tilted his head in confusion, before he gave an innocent look, not knowing why his friends seemed so shock. "Huh? Don't tell me you guys have never seen a kiss before". Ash said with a carefree voice, not the least bit embarrassed.

The word "kiss" made Goh, Chloe, Grooky and Eevee's faces flush even more with steam coming out of them now. "W-What Goh means…is why did you k-k-k-kiss Serena…" Chloe told the raven haired boy, face completely red as she had only seen people kissing on TV. Ash only gave a laugh with his eyes closed. "Like I said; I was returning the favor. After all, Serena kissed me before". The raven haired boy replied, revealing one of his secrets to his two friends.

"EEEEEHHHHH!" Goh and Chloe shouted out in bewilderment, their faces changing to nuclear red at what they just learned. "GROOKEY! /EEVEE!" Grookey and Eevee cried out, both now releasing steam from their heads way faster than before. Pikachu just remained silent, face still full of shock as his mind kept flashing back to the kiss between Ash and Serena.

Ash then turned around to look back at Lilycove City as it grew smaller in his view. He smiled as he placed his arms down on the railing and leaned down on it. "…I'm looking forward to when we see each other again, Serena". The Alola Champion said with a low, but happy voice as he eagerly awaited the day that he crossed paths with his old friend again, who was perhaps his closest "friend".

(Music end)

Back on the shoreline in Lilycove city, Serena stood at the edge with Sylveon standing by her right side. The Fairy-type was still blushing and hiding her cheeks with its ribbons, while Serena had a dreamy expression on her face as she looked out across the water. Her heart was latterly ablaze from the surprise kiss of the boy that stole her heart.

Ash had always been an important person to Serena, ever since he found her lost and hurt in the forest during Professor Oak's summer camp. Unlike Ash, she remembered it clearly as it was the most important day of her life. She had gotten lost and hurt her leg when a Poliwag came out of the bushes. Serena cried for her mother in fear, but then Ash came for her.

He saw her knee hurt and helped her. He wrapped a handkerchief around her knee, and then held his hand out for her to take. Serena took his hand and he pulled her off of the ground and into a hug, much to the young girl's surprise. Ash was oblivious to his actions and instead began leading her back to camp, holding her hand as they went.

Unfortunately, her mother had to move from Kanto to Kalos, separating Serena from the boy that she grew a crush on. Years later when an incident at Lumious city took place, Serena was able to finally see Ash again, grown up from the young boy into a confident, handsome looking young man. At realizing her crush was close, Serena decided to start her own Pokémon journey to reunite with Ash.

She chose a Fennekin as her partner, and then set out to find Ash. She found him during his Gym Battle against Viola, but he was too focus on his battle to notice her. He did lost and rushed out to heal his Pokémon, leaving his bag behind, something that Serena took notice of. She took it and returned the bag to Ash, who thanked her, but didn't seem to remember her. Serena was a bit disappointed that he didn't recognized her, but guessed it was to be expected.

She eventually asked him if he remembered her from Summer Camp, but to her displeasure, he didn't. He did remember his old saying "Never give up until the very end", something that helped Ash reignite his spirit. He challenged Viola again and won his first Kalos badge. Ash set out with Clemont and Bonnie, but did suggest to Serena for her to come with them, an offer that she accepted instantly.

In their travels, she finally returned the handkerchief to Ash and explained how they knew each other. Ash finally remembered Serena as the straw-hat girl that he saved, much to her joy. The two would continue to travel through Kalos together with Clemont, Bonnie and Pikachu. It was during these adventures that Serena's feelings for Ash grew stronger, eventually changing into something else. Her crush turned into love for the raven haired boy.

They went through so much together that when the time came for them to go their separate ways, Serena acted through her heart and not with her head. She showed her feelings and gave her first kiss to Ash. Her actions made her a bit nervous, but were happy that she didn't need to hide her feelings anymore. It was because of her feelings for Ash that she was able to work hard and reach where she was now.

Now, being kissed by the joy that she loved brought great joy to the honey haired girl as she could tell that was a sign of how much care Ash had for her. Serena brought her right hand's index and middle fingers and touched her lips, still feeling the taste of Ash's lips on hers. Serena giggled happily with her eyes closed, before she opened them and looked off across the distance. "Ash…" The Pokémon Performer said with a soft voice, happy to have seen the raven haired boy again.

Though her time away from the Ash has been great and she has grown magnificently, her feelings for the Alola Champion had never changed, even as she became popular and gained a few male "admires", her heart only belonged to Ash and nothing would change that. So, seeing him again made her heart overflow with her feelings for the boy. The feelings only grew tenfold at Ash's surprise kiss and at the hint that he possible returned her affection.

At that moment, Sylveon snapped out of her daze and looked up at her trainer. She gave a soft cry out to Serena, getting the honey hair coloured girl to look down at her Fairy-type. "Let's go!" Serena exclaimed with his voice full of spirit, causing Slyveon to cry out happily. Serena took one last look at the ship in the distance, before she turned around and took off running with Sylveon run behind her.

Full of spirit and untold energy, Serena was ready to continue her journey inspire all who see her performance, just as Ash was working hard to complete his dream of becoming the best Pokémon Trainer in the world. As she ran, Serena looked up towards the sky and thought about her second dream. Serena's second and heartfelt dream was where she and Ash were together and that one day, she would become Ash's bride.

The honey haired girl's face flushed upon imagining herself and Ash getting married, before she shook her head sideways to rid herself of the blush. Her second dream was important, but right now, it was too soon to focus on as she and Ash were still too young, so Serena instead focuses on her first dream.

Yet, she still held onto the dream that one day, she and Ash would be together. Right now, she'll focus on her performances and when she accomplishes her first dream, she'll confess to Ash about how she truly feels about him. Serena turned her head left to look out across the sea with a smile full of love towards the boy that would eventually become the world's greatest Pokémon Master. 'Ash… I will see you again someday…I love you'. Serena said in her mind, before facing back forward.

Fate may have only allowed Ash and Serena to have a brief reunion right now, but that was all the two needed as they were beyond happy to see one another again. Perhaps in time, the two will reunite again. When two people truly cared for one another, nothing could stop them from seeing one another again. And Ash and Serena truly cared for one another, nothing would ever change that.

One-shot completed. I really wished that there was more to Ash and Serena's brief moment together, so I hope they have another reunion one day. Anyway, get ready because on the 20th this month, my Pokémon: Legend of the Rainbow Hero story will be updated. I apologize if this one-shot wasn't really special, but I really worked hard to do it. Anyway, I'll see you all on the 20th of this month.

Later, "Gotta catch em all!"
