As the cold rain fell on Hailey's already soaked body, her mind was racing. She reached into her pocket, finding that oddly enough... her cell phone was still there. Her first thought was to call it in, the attack... have dispatch roll an ambo. That's what she should do. She needed to go to MED, to get checked out. The logical part of her knew that. However, Hailey was frightened, still nauseous, dizzy from all the drugs that had been slipped into her system. She didn't want to call an ambo, didn't want to report this, didn't want to have a rape kit done. Hailey just wanted to go home forget this ever happened.

Looking at the time on her phone, it was 4:38AM. Hailey knew that Vanessa would be leaving for shift soon. Scrolling through her contacts, she immediately went to Jay's number, knowing that Jay would be there for her as soon as he could, if she were to call him. She almost hit the call button, before hesitating... she couldn't call Jay. She didn't want anyone to see her like this, especially not Jay. However, Hailey couldn't exactly call a ride looking like this either.

Hailey scrolled through her contacts again, until she stopped on one of her CI's that she had known for years. She called her CI, Bobby Jo. Without giving many details, she asked Bobby Jo to bring a set of clothes and come pick her up. Said this was a personal favor, Bobby Jo would be paid for her efforts.

Not long after, Bobby Jo arrived with a set of clothing, which Hailey quickly slipped into. Then, Bobby Jo drove Hailey home. The ride was quiet, but the CI was concerned about Hailey. When they finally reached Hailey's apartment, she thanked Bobby Jo for the ride.

"Are you sure you're alright, girl?" Bobby Jo asked, knowing full well that Hailey was far from "alright".

"I'm good." Hailey said, softly. "Thanks again for the ride."

When headed got inside of her apartment, Vanessa had already left for work. Hailey sighed, relieved that she wouldn't have to face her friend, right now. It would give her time to think of what she should say.

Hailey dialed Trudy, telling her that she was really sick wouldn't be able to make it in today. Trudy did find that rather strange, as Hailey was not one to call in always came to work, even when she was feeling like death. However, she let it go, telling Hailey to get some rest feel better.

The next thing Hailey did was throw her shredded, bloody clothing in a trash bag. She then immediately went to the shower, turning the water on as hot as it would go. She knew throwing her clothing away, taking a shower... it was destroying evidence. Deep down, she knew that was wrong but in that moment, she just couldn't bear to do anything else. Hailey slowly climbed into the shower, a jolt a pain went through her body as the hot water assaulted her wounds. There, she stayed for almost an hour, long after the water had run cold. She let the tears fall freely, ignoring the pain, she tried her best to scrub the horrible events of that night off of her.

When Hailey finally climbed out of the shower, she stood in front of the mirror. The sight of her battered body caused even more tears to fall. She was pale, but her skin was Red from all the scrubbing she'd been doing in the shower. Her body was covered in bruises, her wrists were cut from pulling at her restraints while trying to escape her attacker. She looked in horror, as she saw for the first time, what James had cut into her. The word "Slut" staring back at her, the letters sliced deep into her flesh.

Hailey quickly got dressed, packing a small bag of clothing and essential supplies. It was Friday and on Saturday, Vanessa would be flying out to Mexico to visit some friends for a week. Hailey just needed to a place to stay until the next morning. She sent Vanessa a quick text, telling her she was going out of town for the weekend with friends and would see her when she returned. Vanessa smiled when she got the text, as she knew that Hailey had called in sick and hadn't returned home that night. In Vanessa's mind, that meant that Hailey's "date" had probably went well and she was getting some much needed stress relief with a nice guy. Little did she know, nothing was further from the truth.

After shift that Friday, Jay found Vanessa in the Locker Room.

"Hey, is everything alright with Hailey?" Jay asked, the concern evident in his voice. "Trudy said she called in sick today, I called her and it went straight to voicemail. I sent a couple texts, but she never responded. It's just not like her."

Vanessa laughed. " Chill out, big guy. I think Hailey is more than alright. We went out last night she met a nice guy at the Bar. They were laughing and dancing when I left. I think she ended up, you know, hooking up with him. She sent me a text earlier, saying she was going out of town for the weekend. I think she's finally living a little."

"Oh, okay... I just wanted to make sure she was alright." Jay said. He was a little hurt by what Vanessa had told him, but Hailey deserved to live a little and have some fun. Jay knew that things had been rough for her recently, especially since her and Kim's abduction, then the breakup with Adam.

"Want to go to Molly's and grab a couple drinks?" Vanessa asked. "My last night her for a whole week."

"I'll have to take a rain check, just not feeling like being out tonight." Jay replied.

"Suite yourself." Vanessa said.

When Jay left shift, he went straight to Hailey's apartment. When he arrived, her car wasn't there. He knocked on the door, but of course, there was no answer. Jay sighed. He hoped that Vanessa was right and Hailey was just out having a good time, however, none of this was like her. Jay was worried. In the back of his mind, he just had a nagging feeling that something was not right...

Meanwhile, across town... Hailey was laying alone in a Hotel Bed. Tears streaming down her face. She couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn't get the images of the night before out of her head. Every time she closed her eyes, she could see him. It made her sick. All she wanted to do was go to sleep and wake up to find this whole thing was a terrible nightmare... however, it wasn't a nightmare and sleep would not come.

The vibration from Hailey's Cell Phone startled her, making her jump.

"Halstead" flashed across the screen. It had been 8th missed call from him today, along with about a dozen text messages which had also gone unanswered.

Hailey just couldn't talk to Jay, right now. She didn't want him to see her like this and she knew without a doubt, if he heard her voice, he would immediately know something was wrong.

Sighing, Hailey slowly typed a message.

"Hey Jay, some things come up and I'm going to be out of town for the weekend. Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner."

Almost immediately, Jay replied. "You're good. I just want to make sure you're alright?"

That was all it took, the floodgates opened again, fresh tears were pouring down Hailey's face. Jay was so kind, so good. Even though text, he had this power over her. It was just something about him, she always felt safer with Jay.

Deep down, Hailey wanted nothing more than to call Jay tell him what happened, to go to his apartment do their "thing". She really didn't want to be alone, right now.

However, Hailey knew she couldn't do that. She couldn't tell Jay, couldn't let him see her like this. She couldn't stand to see the look of pity and disappointment she knew would be on his face if she told him the truth about what happened... The whole truth; how she was stupid enough to trust this guy she had just met, stupid enough to not realize she'd been drugged until it was too late, stupid enough to climb into his car practically handing herself over to him, the way her body reacted to her attacker even when she wanted nothing more than to just get away. The way she didn't report what happened and carelessly destroyed all of the evidence, instead of reporting what happened like a Cop should do. Hailey felt so ashamed.

Taking a deep breath, she typed one last message, her hands trembling as she did so.

"I'm fine... Night Jay." Hailey hit send.

Once again, almost instantly, the phone lit up with a reply from Jay. "Night Hailey"

Hailey set her phone down on the nightstand beside the bed, pulling the covers up as close to her neck as she could. Once again, sobs overtook her body.

This was going to be a long night...
