"Bye Sayori!"
"Bye!"
I made it to school. Walking into my first class, I take the empty seat next to Monika. With five minutes to spare, Monika notices my optimism.
"What got you into a good mood? Just last night you were crying about your family."
"Well, I've got nothing to lose here, and I have everything I've ever wanted!"
"Well, that's true."
"Monika, I've realized I'm happy to be here. It's like a dream come true, to be honest."
"Aww, thanks, Xavier. That's sweet of you. But... are you sure you want this? You and I are the only actual people here, after all."
"That's true, but the others are so complex you can hardly tell."
The starting bell starts, as does the day.
School was uneventful. Since I'd been through college back in the real world, my classes are a breeze. Monika and I decided to partner up for a biology project, and before I know it it's time for the Literature Club. When Sayori and I come in, Yuri's the only one inside, quietly reading a book.
"Did you write a poem?" Sayori hops as she says it.
"Yeah…" More fake memories of Sayori flood into my mind.
They're happy memories of us enjoying ourselves, so I don't mind.
As long as I don't lose my actual memories, that is.
"Hi, guys!" Monika walks into the club room cheerfully. As she walks past me she gives me a kiss on my cheek. It catches me off guard and I feel my cheeks redden.
Then I remember my girlfriend.
Elizabeth.
Hopefully my robot clone will treat her well.
Fuck it, why not. I kiss her back.
I wish everyone from the real world well.
Goodbye! Have fun in a hell!
Living here is absolute paradise.
Monika and I enjoy a hug.
Sayori smiles.
Not out of spite, but out of happiness for me.
Don't worry, Sayori, you're in good hands, too.
As soon as I release my embrace with Monika, Natsuki walks into the room.
"Hey." She remarks as she walks to her infamous manga closet.
She grabs one from the middle shelf and sits down in the corner.
Monika and I sit down.
"Monika, you know what happens in the normal game, right?"
"Where I delete everyone else? Yeah. I wouldn't do that here though, since you're…" She stutters.
"Really here." I finish for her.
Suddenly, someone else walks through the clubroom door.
"Oh hi!" Sayori jumps.
"Xavier, you should know him already!" I search my false memories to no avail.
"Guys, this is the newest member of the Literature Club!"
"Umm, I never agreed to that…" He retorts.
"This is my friend, Tyler!"
I thought there was only one main character, and that they were me.
I was dead wrong.
There are two.
