The description of the Dawn Treader is a mix of the one seen in the movie and the one in the book. It's hard to determine what the interior of the ship looked like and the location of the rooms based solely on the movie. So I found out where things were located based on the books and took some descriptions from there as well. There are also some embellishments on my part based on what little I know about ships/boats.

Chapter 2: Exploration and Surprises

As it was her first time aboard the ship, Ana decided to explore the Dawn Treader before figuring out her sleeping arrangements. It was the finest ship in the navy and was crafted in a way to resemble a dragon. The bow of the ship was a dragon's head with stairs along the neck and a spot in the dragon's mouth where a lookout could hide. Its head and neck were green with a golden chest plate and mask around the eyes. The head was made from applewood, along with other carvings and planks along the ship. There were also reins carved into the dragon and painted red.

Stretched along the beginnings of the port and starboard sides were the dragon's green wings. Just below the dragon's was the focsle, a small platform just above the main deck. Beneath it, were doors that lead to the sleeping quarters for the crew. The galley could be found just beyond those rooms. They also provided access to the armory. At the base of the focsle was the ship's bell that was supported by two carved fauns.

There was a large mast in the center of the ship that held a large, beautiful, dark purple sail. Two golden lions were stitched into the center of the sail. There was a small, golden circle that outlined a crown, separating the two lions. The lookout tower was located right next to the main mast, with rope ladders on either side of the ship. Located just below these was the hatch which led to the lower deck. Here they stored their food and other necessary supplies. It also provided access to the oar room, which were normally only used when fleeing or if there was no wind. The oar room was built using Narnian oak trees, which had rare protective qualities.

The rest of the ship was made of red and black wood. The stern of the ship was carved into the dragon's tail, which looped around itself. A lantern had been attached to the end of it to allow others to see their ship at night. A large wheel for steering could be found on the poop deck. It was supported by two carved fish that held a golden carving of the Great Lion. At the base of the poop deck, Ana opened the door on the main deck which allowed access to the stern cabins. Caspian's cabin was located at the back of the ship and was the largest room. The Stateroom almost alway was.

Ana's cabin was located on the port side of the stern. It was smaller than Caspian's but was just as grand. There was a bed in one corner with a royal blue bedspread. There were curtains tied back on the bedposts that matched the bedspread, with golden trim. On the other side of the room were a pair of cabinets with carvings of Narnia creatures. Ana assumed they were meant to be used as a wardrobe. They were three large windows that allowed a lot of light into the room, making it seem bright and spacious. There was also a table and some chairs.

The cabins in the stern were the only ones on the Dawn Treader to have actual beds built into the rooms. The rest only had hanging beds and were meant to be shared among the crew. The cabins on the stern of the ship were meant as single rooms. Ana felt a little embarrassed to have such grand quarters in comparison to the others. Although she didn't know why as her room in the castle was even nicer.

After she managed to settle in, someone knocked on her door. Ana assumed it to be Caspian as he was the only one aboard likely to disturb her. She opened the door and wasn't surprised to see him on the other side. Allowing him entrance, he scanned the room before turning to her.

"Is everything to your satisfaction?" he asked.
"Yes," she admitted. "They're nicer than I would've ever expected... But why?"
"Because you need your own rooms. You are the only female aboard a ship full of men. When I commissioned this ship, I wanted to make sure you would not have to sleep where the rest of the crew was. Aside from that, you deserve your own rooms. You're a noblewoman, are you not?"
"I mean... I'm sure..." she began, unable to actually answer his question.
"No," Caspian stated. "You know it's true. After just three years, you have more than proven you have the knowledge and experience of any other nobles on my council. I don't know why you continue trying to deny it."
Ana merely glanced away in embarrassment, unsure why herself. "I suppose I just don't like the feel of having some official title." Perhaps that was it, though she wasn't quite convinced of it herself.
"I see..." he said, almost hesitant. "What about the whole 'Phoenix Warrior' thing?"
"No one ever calls me that. But I suppose it is a title as well... I have many unofficial titles."
"Well, as your King I declare that you should have an official title! One that properly befits your station."
"Caspian!" she exclaimed. "No! Please!"
"Not to worry," he assured her. "I will wait until our return to discuss such things. After all, I cannot make a decision without at least consulting my council."
"It's really not necessary," she tried to persuade him.
"I'm the King and I say that it is." He crossed his arms and smirked.
Ana was forced to sigh, knowing this was a conversation she could not win. "As you wish, Your Majesty." And she most certainly wasn't pouting.

Caspian merely chuckled and left her alone in her new quarters. Ana hated it when he pulled the 'I'm the King' card. He knew that whenever he said that, Ana would listen. How could she disobey an order from her King? The only time she even dared to do so was if Aslan told her to do something different. Even then, she would discuss it with him first before acting. And it was very rare that their instructions didn't coincide. Those were the only times in which Ana was forced to disobey orders, but they were always for the greater good.

By now, they had been traveling for a few weeks. They had made a few stops to visit Galma, Terebinthia, and the Seven Isles. They spent a week in Galma with the Duke. When they left, the Duke begged them to stay longer. Both Ana and Caspian realized he had wanted to form a union. with his daughter. But Caspian wasn't interested and they set sail for Terebinthian. The Terebinthian King had advised them against going ashore due to a sickness. Much to Caspian's disappointment, they continued towards the Seven Isles.

Their only issue thus far occurred three days after leaving Terebinthia. A pirate ship pursued them for an hour and manh of the crew feared they would be overrun. Reepicheep was excited about a potential battle. Their arrows severed the ship's main mast and lookout tower. The pirates were forced to admit defeat and used their oars to flee, cursing as they sailed away. Reepicheep had wanted them to pursue the pirates and raid them as they would have the Dawn Treader. But his motive was purely out of having a grand adventure. Ana thought it unwise to chase them and, fortunately, Caspian and Drinian agreed.

Though he was disappointed about the lack of a proper battle, Reepicheep was forced to admit it would've put them behind. So they continued and five days later, they arrived at the Western most Islands of the Seven Isles. They feasted for a few days and then continued on their way to the Lone Islands. It was the last place the Lords had been heard from.

With no battles to fight, Ana's mind wandered to her friends more nowadays. The Pevensies had been gone for three years and she had thought about them from time to time. She didn't think she'd ever be able to forget them. Not after all the years they had spent together. So Ana was leaning against the portside rail, reminiscing about all the adventures they had had. She knew they would return someday, but didn't know if she would still be alive by then. Aslan had only promised that she'd see them again. He didn't promise it wouldn't be in His Country.

It was quiet and the water was mostly still. The only movement was the waves created by the ship itself. Ana enjoyed the quiet, the stillness of it all. But the moment was interrupted when she noticed activity in the water. At first, she thought it was either a Merperson or possibly even a Seaperson. However, she realized they didn't resemble a fish in any way. They were people.

"Caspian!" she cried, scanning the deck for him. As he approached she pointed into the sea. "Someone's in the water!"

Casting one glance to where she pointed, Caspian quickly jumped overboard. Realizing he couldn't possibly bring all three aboard by himself, Ana prepared to jump as well. She could hear several crew members gasp in shock, and one laughing softlyβ€”Reepicheepβ€”at her actions. Ignoring them all, she jumped from the rail and dived into the water. She barely heard the splash from a third individual jumping overboard.

She swam as hard as she could to the small group of people. The three were swimming hard to avoid being overrun by the ship. One of them was panicking and doing more drowning than swimming by the time Ana caught up to them. Caspian reached them first and Ana barely managed to catch his words over all the commotion.

"It's alright. I've got you!" Caspian promised them.
"Caspian!" shouted a voice Ana recognized immediately.
"Lucy," was Caspian's simple reply.
"Edmund!" Lucy called out, catching his attention. "It's Caspian!"

By this point, the other sailor had reached Edmund, so Ana swam towards the boy nearly drowning. As she tried to keep both of them afloat and swim back towards the ship, the boy fought her. She lost her hold on him a few times and received a few hits for her troubles. But by the time they had reached the ship, the boy seemed to have lost all his fight. As she waited to be pulled aboard the ship Ana grew concerned. He had stopped squirming altogether and was barely conscious. She knew they had to get out of the water fast or the boy might not make it. He had swallowed too much water when he was fighting her and was at risk of drowning.

"Quickly," she said as soon as they pulled them aboard. "He's swallowed a lot of water."

Two men took him from her and laid him on the deck. Reepicheep rushed over and Ana looked at Caspian, assuring herself he was safe. He had been talking with their castaways and she only caught the end of their conversation.

"No," Caspian answered, seeming confused. "Not this time."

Lucy and Edmund were wrapped in towels and a crew member approached with two more. Offering one to Caspian, he held out his arms towards Ana. Curious, the two siblings turned as she stepped forward to accept the towel.

When they saw her, their faces lit up. Lucy quickly closed the distance and wrapped her arms around Ana. "Ana! I'm so glad to see you," she exclaimed.
"It's nice to see you too, Lucy," Ana told her, returning her hug. Both were still dripping wet.

Edmund opened his mouth to speak but whatever he wanted to say was cut off by a scream.

"Get that thing off me!" Ana turned just in time to see Reepicheep get tossed across the deck by the boy she had rescued. The Mouse recovered quickly and Lucy recognized her old friend.
"Reepicheep!" she greeted, causing him to face them and see who was speaking.
"Your Majesties!" he grinned, bowing low.
"Hello, Reep. What a pleasure." Edmund said with a smile.
"The pleasure is all mine, sir." He glanced in back at the boy who was now on his hands and knees. "But first, what to do about this hysterical interloper?" the Mouse said.
"That giant rat thing… just tried to claw my face off!" the boy exclaimed, pointing to Reepicheep as he tried to stand.
"I was merely trying to expel the water from your lungs, sir!" Reepicheep told him.

This only managed to freak the boy out. He pulled away from the crowd starting to form and fell against the side of the ship. "It just talked!" he said, pointing. "Did you see? Did anyone just hear that? It just talked!"
"He always talks," one of the crewmen answered.
"It's getting him to shut up that's the trick," Caspian added, making Ana smile.
Reepicheep, clearly offended, turned around to face the royals. "The moment there is nothing to be said, Your Highness… I promise you, I will not say it." Several people laughed at his response, including Ana.
The boy seemed to grow even more disturbed by this information. Finally getting to his feet he began ranting. "I don't know what kind of prank this is, but I want to wake up right now!"
"Perhaps we could throw him back?" Reepicheep suggested.

Ana watched Edmund and Lucy closely. It was obvious Edmund considered it just by the look that crossed his face. Whoever this boy was, the Just King did not care for him. Lucy also noticed the look that crossed her brother's face and elbowed him.
"Edmund!" she scolded. Edmund merely shrugged in response.

It was at this moment that the boy drew the attention back to himself. He had been stomping across the deck, raving about where he was. "I demand to know just where in the blazes am I?!" the boy ordered, seemingly on the verge of tears. Ana almost pitied him. This was obviously all new to him and he didn't know how to take it.
Tavros was the brave soul who stepped forward to answer the boy's question. "You're on the Dawn Treader… the finest ship in Narnia's navy."

This statement caused the boy to faint, hitting the deck hard as the crew laughed. Ana felt bad for him, understanding that he was confused and panicked. She watched as Caspian approached the two of them. The minotaur turned to face him.

"Was it something I said?" he asked, a little concerned.
"See to him, will you?" Caspian ordered and he nodded.
"Your Majesty." Tavros approached the unconscious boy while Caspian made his way to the steps. He walked up a few and then turned to address the crew.

"Men! Behold our castaways. Edmund the Just, and Lucy the Valiant. King and Queen of Narnia."

At his announcement, the entire crew kneeled or bowed before them. The two slowly turned to face those on the main deck. Lucy tilted her head in acknowledgment and waved a little. Ana did a small curtsy when they looked in her direction. It was received by a slight nod from both of them. Her friends had returned and Ana couldn't wait to see what the future had in store for them.

Just a heads up, I am stuck on chapter 7 so I'm not sure how frequent updates will be. Chapter 6 ended up going in a different direction (although ch. 5 started it so it's really that one's fault). So I have to write a completely different ch. 7 than what I had in order to make it all connect. But I'm going to try and update every Monday until I reach the chapter (or chapters, in case of writer's block later) I'm stuck on.
