The time came closer, and now Porky, Bugs and Daffy arrived to the house that Spike mentioned.
"Do you think this could be the house?" Daffy asked.
They kept the address with them to help remember what house to look for.
"I think so," Porky answered.
"Let's go and see if Spike's around," Bugs said.
"I'm sure he will be since he told us he'll keep an eye out for us," Porky replied.
They kept walking until the house was in their way to tell them it was the right spot.
"This must be the house."
Then they saw a cat and mouse chasing each other in the yard.
"Are those the friends that Spike warned us about?"
"The cat and mouse? I think so since he told us he has company."
"Those guys are pretty fast."
"True."
Then they came closer to the front door and then Bugs rang the doorbell. That's when Tom and Jerry noticed the three of them.
"Are these the guys Spike told us about?" Tom asked.
"I'm not sure, but he did mention a pig, rabbit and duck," Jerry reminded him.
"I guess that's them. Let's go find Spike and tell him you made it safely."
"I'll go do it," Jerry offered.
"Thanks."
After he left, Tom opened the door. It looked like he and Jerry had a mess to clean up after that long chase they'd just finished.
"Hello," Tom said.
"Hi. We're here to see Spike," Bugs told him.
"Jerry's doing that part right now. Why don't you guys come in?"
So they followed Tom inside.
"This is a nice place."
"Thank you. We like it here."
Jerry returned.
"He's on his way, Tom."
"That's good."
Then Porky, Daffy and Bugs looked around the living room and kitchen. This was a mess the cat and mouse had to clean up. Since they just arrived here, no way are the cat and mouse getting any help.
"Do you guys do this all the time?"
"Yes," they both said to Daffy.
"You two sure are good runners."
"How do you know that? You just came here."
"We watched you before we showed up here at the door," Porky answered.
"Thank you. We enjoy running, but get into trouble with the furniture that Granny has. We do the chasing outside too," Tom replied.
"You should stay outside while running around like that," Daffy said.
"We have a friend back home who likes to do it also."
"You do? Then we will meet him sometime," Jerry said as they closed the door behind them.
"I guess you have a mess to clean up now. Is this the right away to treat visitors?" Porky asked.
That's when Spike walked into the house.
"Hey, guys. How are you doing? Why don't you sit down?"
"We're doing good, Spike. We can't sit on the couch," Daffy told him.
"Why not?"
"Look for yourself."
So Spike did.
"How many times have you guys made this mess?"
All they could do was shake their heads.
"Too many to keep count," Jerry answered.
"Go clean up this mess and then these guys can sit down on the couch."
So they left.
"Thanks for the warning, Spike. Now we see what you meant by the warning."
"I told you so. Have you seen them chase each other around yet?"
"Yes," Bugs answered.
"Do you want anything to eat or drink while we're waiting for the mess to be cleaned up?"
"Just water."
"Carrots for me," Bugs said.
"Coming right up. Two glasses of ice water and carrots on the way."
Then Tom and Jerry were almost finishing up with the mess they'd made before Spike's friends came over.
"We should've done this earlier, Tom."
"Well, we didn't know what time they showed up."
"True. I'd like to see what these guys are like," Jerry told him.
"Me too," he agreed.
That's when Spike entered the kitchen.
"Are you almost done cleaning up this mess? The kitchen is still the same."
"We're working on it. I guess the living room will have to wait until these guys leave."
"Get it done now so they can sit down on the couch."
"What are you getting, Spike?"
"What does it look like I'm doing? Two glasses of ice water and carrots."
"I'll open the kitchen door for you, Spike."
"Thanks, Thomas."
"You are welcome. Do you want me to help with the ice water?" Tom asked.
"Thank you. I'll do it."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"All right. Maybe next time?"
"Maybe," Spike repeated.
Tom and Jerry stayed in the kitchen half the time since these were Spike's friends and decided to let them catch up a bit.
"So how long have you been friends with the cat and mouse?" Daffy asked.
"A long time. I can't even remember our first meeting," Spike answered.
"I thought you'd remember."
"Sorry, Daffy. I don't. We're older now, so that's why I don't know how to answer that question yet. Not important anyway."
"Those guys sure are fast. We just told the cat we have a friend like that back home who likes to run around as much as they do."
"Really? You never told me that."
"Yup."
So they had a nice first day to catch up.
"You still have that doghouse?" Porky asked.
"Yes. I got a new one on my birthday, but it's still the same size, and there's no reason to see it."
"Why would we want to see a doghouse for?" Daffy asked.
Porky and Bugs shook their shoulders, not knowing how to answer that question.
"You don't need to answer that question," Spike told them.
"Not going to. What should we do now?" Bugs asked.
"Whatever you guys want. Maybe chase these guys around the yard? I love watching them."
"Do you join them too?"
"Nah. I mostly watch."
So they kept talking until Tom and Jerry finished cleaning up the mess in the kitchen that they'd made. Then they headed out to the living room.
"You guys still need to clean up this place before my friends can sit down."
"We're fine standing, Spike. We had a long ride here. It's good to stretch."
"Daffy's right," Bugs said.
"I guess you can go to bed early if you're really tired."
"We might, but we're not that tired right now. What time do you normally go to bed?"
"Anytime, even if it means late at night. I like doing it late. How about you guys?" Spike asked.
"About ten o'clock. Sometimes nine – thirty, depending on how tired we are."
"Daffy's right," Bugs said.
"I know when I'm correct."
So they were able to sit down again some five minutes later.
"Thanks, guys," Spike told Jerry and Tom.
"You're welcome. What do you guys want for dinner tonight?" Jerry asked.
"Nothing really. We had a big lunch, so we might not eat."
"That's fine," Spike said.
They kept talking for a while longer. Then Granny walked in the house and found Porky, Daffy and Bugs Bunny in the living room with Spike. Tom and Jerry aren't around to be seen. They didn't want to get into trouble once Granny came home.
"Spike, are these your friends?"
He nodded, panting.
"They can stay for a while."
Bugs, Daffy and Porky didn't bother saying a thing, but could tell this lady was welcoming.
"I'll go feed everyone supper in twenty minutes. Just let me get settled in first."
Spike whispered to his friends, "I'll go with Granny and see if there's a place for you guys to sleep."
"I wouldn't mind the couch. I'm comfortable here," Bugs told him.
"Let me think about it. I'm not sure if Granny would allow a duck on the couch."
So Spike followed Granny upstairs and told her everything.
"All right. They're welcome to stay."
"Thank you. They've been my friends for quite a while. I told the cat and mouse to behave while these guys are here."
"You didn't have to tell them that."
"Well, too late for that now. What should we do about dinner tonight?"
"I'll think of something. I plan to put carrots out anyway."
"Fine with me. I got them out a while ago for the rabbit."
Daffy, Porky and Bugs caught every word of the conversation with Spike and Granny.
"At least this lady is nice enough not to scare us out of the house," Daffy said.
"You're right about that. I'm happy he said something about it," Bugs said.
That's when Spike returned to the living room.
"She's not disappointed about having you guys stay for a few days," Spike said to his friends.
"We heard the conversation," Bugs said.
When dinner was over, they all sat around outside of the house while Granny did the dishes. Tom and Jerry were nowhere to be seen, and that was fine with Spike.
"Do you know where your friends are?" Porky asked.
"No. They're fine wherever they are."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
It was about nine – thirty when they all got tired and turned in for bed.
"Thanks for letting us stay here, Spike."
"No problem. What are friends for, right?"
"Exactly."
Now Spike opened the door and let his friends in the house, and then he locked it. Tom and Jerry decided to sleep outside tonight anyway.
Then fifteen minutes later, Tom saw the lights go out.
"See you in the morning," Tom said and fell asleep.
