Ruby and Yang's Commentary of Cars (Part 2 - Final)

Ruby commentaries when the second half of the Cars review commenced, "The next morning, we see Lightning have an unusually unsettling dream sequence..."

The next part shows his dream having him, Hicks and The King racing, until the combine harvester Frank suddenly approaches the three, the King driving away from its path, Lightning trying to drive away from it, and Hicks intimidatingly gets caught by Frank, shredding into a million pieces in thin air!

"OH MY GOD!", Ruby and Yang exclaim to this part.

This dream sequence ends with Frank winning the Piston Cup and Lightning being surrounded by the cow-like tractors from the night before.

Shocked and in disbelief, Ruby and Yang look down and bury their faces with their hands.

"I'm sorry. There are so many questions I have right now.", Ruby calmly stated, "What the hell was that all about?!", understanding, "I know this was supposed to be a dream sequence, but this literally looks like the first ON-SCREEN Pixar death! That is until Cars 2, but it definitely seems to be like it! Second, why would combine harvesters race? They would be totally ineligible because of how dangerous and enormous they are to other racers! By gods, it's like putting a monster truck in a formula race! Or it's like Peter Griffin used his car to win the Boston Marathon!"

Yang supported, "And third, we don't think this dream sequence doesn't fit in this scene. We understand that it's intended for comic relief since it was a thing Lightning did with Mater, and it still is, but why wouldn't the Dinoco Chick Hicks scene from earlier be his nightmare? Hell, DINOCO CHICK HICKS was more fitting than this! It's probably a bit more understanding since Lightning's dreaming about that Dinoco sponsorship or something! Seriously, what is up with that?!"

"Lightning later finds out that morning that Doc Hudson was of course a three-time Piston Cup winner known as the Hudson Hornet, and he decides to tell everyone about it. He then goes out for a drive with Sally, and this next scene was...in fact, pretty beautiful.", the red-black-haired girl described, "As you can see, the cinematography in this scene looks so realistic you swear this was meant to be shot for a car commercial by Toyota. And as a matter of fact, it should be. It would be like, 'The New 2006 Toyota! Presented by Disney-Pixar's Cars!'"

The blonde sister aided, "Also, the widescreen cinematography actually nails it in this movie through some scenes. The colors blended perfectly, the lighting was precise, the camera angels were executed very exquisitely, and the way they're done was surprisingly well done. The cinematography, like all other movies, helps us understand the symbolism and nature of those shots. That's one of the greatest things about this movie...", before complaining, "But why didn't this get Best Cinematography?"

"Sally tells McQueen that Radiator Springs was once a popular landmark, which later went out of business after the Interstate Travelers never came, with a song overheard in the background that's surprisingly one of Pixar's emotional songs.", Ruby summarized, the movie exampling the scene of Radiator Springs' past, with the song Our Town playing; "Ah...it sounds so beautiful and emotional... Again, why did the song from An Inconvenient Truth won over this!?"

Yang continues, "After that beautiful scene, Lightning returns to Radiator Springs as he sees Doc training.", witnessing the snippet where Doc makes a test drive as he drifts across the dirt in a stunning way, "Seeing how this is Paul Newman's last film that isn't a documentary, he still never fails to amaze us. Especially in the next scene where Hudson tells McQueen about his tragic racing accident back in 1954, which actually happened in real-life. For a film that focuses on cars, it does at least have some historical accuracy for a few of the most historical racers and their automobiles.", cutting to the rest of the story, "This however makes Lightning blend in with the townsfolk, as he decides to stay in Radiator Springs for a bit longer before the big race. But it seems like Mack, the authorities and newspeople arrive at the town, finally finding McQueen after his alleged disappearance.", the next part showing Lightning talking to his off-screen agent Harv (voiced by Jeremy Piven) via call from the truck, who the latter tells him he needs to leave Radiator Springs to go to the race or Dinoco is history as Yang makes an Entourage reference, "'Chop suey!'"

"On the day of the race, the tiebreaker race takes breaks as Lightning arrives, although he feels distracted about Sally and the others back at Radiator Springs.", the leader of team RWBY notified, seeing the part where Mack tells McQueen before the race that Gas Can is his middle name yet he rejects it, "He could say, 'I was gonna choose Diesel as my middle name, but it's already taken.'", before seeing three jets and a plane fly over the stadium to celebrate the upcoming race that day as she said in shock, "Oh, no! Incoming! We're about to get two spinoff films focusing on Planes! TAKE COVER!", summarizing, "The race between McQueen, Hicks and The King begins, but it turns out Lightning begins faltering due to his memories from Radiator Springs. Fortunately, Doc and the others take the position as his new pit crew, and McQueen catches up in the lead."

Ruby's sister jokes as she sees the snippet where Chick Hicks tries to knock Lightning to last place but the latters drives backwards ahead of the former, "Wow, it looks like he's broken the record held by Mater.", before also witnessing the scene after Hicks causes McQueen to pop a tire, where Guido does the fastest pit stop on the racer in mere seconds, shocking Hicks' pit crew; "Oh, scratch that. Make that TWO records broken.", stating, "McQueen makes the lead but it looks like Hicks causes The King to severly crash in the final lap.", sighing, "This...would have to be the most important part of this film. One reason is that The King's crash in this movie was actually based in real-life.", explaining, "Richard Petty not only suffered one, but three racecar crashes in his career, but miraculously he didn't have any serious injuries. The movie on the other hand treats both of Richard Petty and the Hudson Hornet's accidents authentically to have a emotional historical feel."

"But that's not only the main reason why this is the most important part of this movie. Lightning had to make a sacrifice for his victory in order to save one person. He understood the true lesson that there's more to racing than just winning. He sacrificed victory for good sportsmanship. He chose others instead of himself. And just to cap it off...", Ruby taught fondingly, exampling the moment where McQueen helps The King cross the finish line as a selfless act and says that the Piston Cup 'was just an empty cup', "That...that scene right there...is the truest, greatest and most important scene of the movie.", with her and Yang both smiling for this scene, before they both suddenly said, "Why did Happy Feet have to win Best Animated Feature instead of this-"

Yang describes the climax, "Lightning helps The King finish the race, Chick Hicks gets his comeuppance, and McQueen gets rewarded for his selfless deed of sportsmanship. He's given the chance to have the Dinoco sponsorship, but it looks like he gave Mater the chance to ride in a Dinoco helicopter. He's gone from self-centered to full-on generous, didn't he?", saying the ending, "We then see Lightning and Sally have one last scene together, until Mater ruins their moment again.", as they see the part where Mater sang the K-I-S-S-I-N-G song but forgets the last letter, "That's nice."

"We have to admit, Cars after all isn't actually that bad. The concept was inventive, and the story was pretty good for an underdog sport story. The humor was spot-on, the visuals are spectacular, the voice acting was pretty good, the ensemble of cars featured in this movie range from colorful and unique, the cinematography was stunning, the editing was fast-paced, and the racing sequences looked like as if the animated races were identical to the ones in real-life, minus the eyes and mouths. We can't say it's bad, nor is it the greatest Pixar movie, or even the most creative or smartest Pixar movie like Toy Story or Monsters Inc., but this movie has a lot of charm. There were little to no scenes in particular that were actually worth saying that movie is awful, but it livens up to the spirit of racing that we know in reality. We would say this is one of the most underrated Pixar films alongside The Good Dinosaur, but for people who are big fans of either Pixar, cars or racing, then this is the film for you.", Ruby and Yang made their final overall review of the movie.

"And that goes for saying, Cars was a great film. But let's see how the other two Cars sequels went out later on. I'm Ruby..."

"...and I'm Yang."

They end their review, "We remember it so you don't have to.", leaving their commentary chairs.
